“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”

Hate is a pretty strong word. It’s more like GW2 no longer suits my gaming taste. HoT was fun until I finished the story and did each major event a couple times and the enjoyment pretty much ended there. I unlocked a couple ELITES and spider farmed the kitten out the masteries before it ended cause I hate being gated and the new masteries gave me new ways to explore the maps which was also very short live.
Once I got a good look at the achieves, collections, and other forms of progression HoT has to offer I parked the game and haven’t logged in since. That was 2.5 months ago. It’s all too tedious, repetitive and time consuming. Too much padding for too little content. It is obvious HoT was just living story material that they bundled up with a few new features in an overpriced box and hyped the kitten out of in the hopes of getting new people to buy into the game. It might have succeeded in attracting some new players but have lost many current players in the process due to the radical shift in the game’s design.
I think the problem in that Anet is trying to cater to to many different target audiences and should have just kept focusing on the casual gamers. They are by far the largest target and they are also the ones who are more likely to spend money on gems.
At least I have FO4 now to keep me entertained for the next couple thousand hours. Maybe by then the GW2 will have changed into something I enjoy again.

I never thought the difficulty of HoT that bad. Especially if you are running a proper build. What really puts me off the game and keeps me away is the fact that all the nice stuff is either locked behind the gem store, some tedious collection, or ridiculous RNG and is either soul bound or account bound. Add to that with a dozen forms of currency to ensure that you almost never have enough of everything you need to get what you want. This means that I can’t play how I want and still progress in the game anymore.
I can think of many things that are wrong with HoT and difficulty isn’t one of them.
The problem with WvW is that the guy in charge of the WvW dev team has no clue of what makes WvW fun and what WvWers are looking for in terms of gameplay. Sometimes I wonder if he has ever set foot in WvW.
It is only a grind if you choose to pursue certain rewards and achievements. I chose to ignore collections, legendary crafting, ascended crafting, pretty much any achievement that requires replaying the story with the same character but I can still play the content or most of it.
So much for drinking responsibly.
….You can’t create challenging content with the expectation that EVERY profession and build will be viable. Doesn’t work like that, never has. ……
I partially disagree, while it is impossible to make it so that every build viable because some builds are down right terrible, our guild has cleared the raid with various different comps that included every single profession. Some work better than others but with a organized group willing to experiment all professions are viable if your are running the right builds.
Was going to report this in game but the stupid thing crashed as I was sending in the report.
Flying Circus Adventure is not giving me the achievements for finishing silver and gold.
I would just like to be able to use a BL trader, bank access, and a recycling kit.
Please no! Enough with the GS already.
I don’t know what you are talking about. I’ve had no issues surviving on my full glass Herald and I managed to solo several HP Champs. I also soloed a camp defense to which I had pulled a champ troll in VB. Herald is quite OP, I actually expect some nerfs to be happening soon.
If only Anet knew how to make difficult content that wasn’t just a DPS check. The only reason the current raid wing is difficult is because your DPS team isn’t burning fast enough. It has nothing to do with mechanics because the actual mechanics are quite easy. It’s all about builds and whether you DPS team is running the pure glass cannon meta.
Either the Dev team is lazy or inept, or the game engine is just incapable of handling a boss that is more than a giant meat sac.
Physical Skills were always rather weak with the Warrior. Unfortunately, when ANet realized it went overboard w/ Rampage, the first thing they did was hit Peak Performance, nerfing it from a +100% damage to what it is now. Rampage got toned down later, too. But PP will continue to pay for the sins of the past.
Typically Anet balance decisions. Buff rampage, oh rampage too strong, nerf PP to make Rampage balanced but indirectly nerfing every other physical skill. Rampage still too strong, nerf rampage leaving every other physical skilll useless.
We saw the same with Necro. They buffed dhuumfire. Burning too strong, ok lets nerf bleeds to make the damage balance. Buring still too strong, ok, lets nerf some more condis. Burning still too strongs, FINE! lets nerf Dhuumfire. Leaving behind a completely useless condi necro.
…….They genuinely have no idea what they are doing.
Quote for truth.
I’m glad I bought 20 stacks to sit a year ago when they were being sold for near vendor price. Making some nice profit off of them now.
……….If there were more people giving useful feedback and calmly explaining what they think is wrong with the profession, they would probably consider responding.
……..
We have given feedback, we gave feedback for months on end on what the problems with warrior class are and provided ideas on how to fix it but the Devs just ignore it and keep making things worse every time they touch something. There is no more constructive feedback to be given. We are just calling it the way it is, a lazy kitten job at class balance.
Now I just reroll to the FOTM and I am much happier not giving a kitten about my favorite class anymore. I suggest that everyone who isn’t happy about the state of warrior do the same.
Ever heard that song that goes “Everything you can do I can do better, I can do anything better than you…” ?
That’s what the other professions are singing to the warrior.
Have you guys tried turning off your post processing? It will reduce the amount of pollution on your screen. Might make the blue AoE easier to spot in time.
I just made it to tangle depths, after a hour of trying to make it out of tangle depths I have decided to not set foot in that god forsaken mess ever again. Sure looks beautiful but I’m not going to waste my time trying to navigate this mess.

You would think they would have learned something about rewarding failed eventsover the past 3 years.

Anet paid good money for those voice actors. You’re going to listen to them.
Is casual’ nowdays just “login, press 1 and free items”?
Actually, that’s true for every player. You login, press 1 and get free items from some creature you killed. I guess we’re all “casual”.
You don’t even need to press 1. Log in once a day and just just collect the little dancing chest on the right of your screen. No creature killing necessary.
I am somewhere between casual and hard-core. I play a lot but never really hunt down achievements or strive for legendary skins and such cause I find the process tedious but I do love challenging content.
For the most part I think the new maps are fine except for the hero points. The only thing that keeps me from soloing most of them are the timers. They should really scale them or extend the timers so that people who prefer to open world solo can do so. Having to wait around and beg for help on a hero point is just bad design. I really hope Anet does something to fix this.
I thought Rev was great from 0-80 (borderline OP) and I couldn’t understand why they kept saying Rev sucked without Herald. Then I got Herald and everything became clear. Perma fury, perma 15 might, wow, and people complain about warrior’s passive abilities.
Who is next on the chopping block? Likely Zojja. Who else could die after Eir of all people but her?
I’m hoping Logan. Least favorite character after Trahearne.
So what I’m understanding is that anyone who can’t play Warrior has serious l2p issues..I have ran nothing but Warrior since GW2 release, and I have NEVER had a nerf or anything be a problem. Find out what Anet does to their game in updates, find out what needs to be fixed, and adapt. I am still very balanced and have no problems killing ANY class. 3.5k Power, 3.3k armor, 56% crit, 19k health, etc. Condi is useless to me, but I can still kill without it and I don’t need to worry about survivability: I have that no problem.
It’s not that we can’t play warrior, it’s that we don’t want to anymore cause of Anet game design decisions. They basically took what was the most polished and versatile class in the game and slowly sucked the fun right out of it over 3 years.
I leveled mine with sword/axe and staff, Shiro/jalis in zerk gear. Unlocked devastation first then invocation and then retribution. Gave me plenty of mobility to avoid the big hits and lots of damage to kill things quick.
I am midway through unlocking Herald but won’t make the switch until I max out the line.
I shelved my warrior after 4.5k hours of play on that character,. He now has a desk job as my BLTC broker. Parked in front of the trading post filtering buy and sell orders in his underwear. I stripped his gear and gave it to my newly leveled revenant (soon to be herald).

If you fix warrior so he spend less time in downed state then the down state skills become a non-issue.
Oh god please NO! Herding chickens, and de-grubbing gardens never made me feel like a hero. Renown Hearts were tedious at best. I am more than happy that they did not make it into the xpac.
If they do decide to add hearts then I hope they don’t make them count towards map completion.
If you don’t do events, play the story, explore the map, etc., you don’t get any mastery points to unlock so whats the point of nerfing the spider farm?
Yep out of combat it just vanishes!
If out of combat was actually “OUT OF COMBAT” a lot of the times I fall OOC instantly after killing a foe when there are still tons of enemies around me. Anet needs to revert the bone head decision they made when they change our decay rate.
It’s not the berserker spec that is bad, it’s the core warrior that is. Elite spec are suppose to build upon your already existing specializations to give alternative game play. The problem with berserker is that is tries to build upon a flawed core system. They need to fix the core of the class before any judgement can be made about beserker.
There have been tons of feedback about this for months but Anet chooses to ignore the problem.
And give us the option to customize it. I don’t want all that information that I never look at cluttering up my screen (daily, event, heart, story info). Let me toggle the mini map and party UI on and off, I don’t need them all the time. How about just being able to play with the opacity and make the UI slightly transparent?
All of this would make the game look so much better cleaner and modern.
Alot of people complained that rewards should be earned and not be able to be bought with gold. So Anet made sure that many desirable items are locked behind achievements, collections or are account bound or use account bound items to craft.
And by doing so killed a potential market for crafters.
I think it is Anet’s way of encouraging players to buy bag slots from the gems store.
They shouldn’t be called balance patches. No balance will come of them. They are “meta shake up patches” which just stir things around to make things interesting for the fotm crowd and very frustrating for players wanting actual class balance.
I just dropped PVP and WvW all I do is PVE now.
Same here, with Anet’s “Shake up the meta” philosophy PvP is in a state of perpetual unbalance and the changes to stability and conditions killed melee builds in WvW so I don’t even see the point of playing these 2 game modes anymore.
The problem is that people developed a sheep-mentally and try to make Berserker work with the previous Meta pre-HoT, and if it’s not compatible they whine and say it doesn’t work.
Soooooo…. how about you post some links and/or footage of these new, non-sheep builds in action?
The statment is just wrong. It’s not about trying to make berserker work in the previous Meta. Rather looking to slot berserker into previously played warrior roles.
Before you make a build, you decide on a roll. “Warriors” are hurting with their elite spec because it doesnt appear to work for old roles, and if you can’t find a role to work in you’re just not in the game -_-u.
Roaming DPS is all I know on both vanilla war and Berserker. Roaming DPS is one role at least that Berserker can be used for. Question is, can it work in any other roles?
The real problem at the moment is whatever role you try to fill, whether vanilla or berserker, some other class can do it much much better. Basically, if you run warrior you a pretty much a liability to your team.
im going to disagree with this (partially). As much of a stretch as this is, I think berserker is actually one of the best ranged specs in the game, for any game mode. Even though Rev hammer hits like gods pimp hand, berserker rifle is a monstrosity
I agree that Rifle does an insane of damage and it might work well for PvE or WvW but it is too gimmicky a build for PvP.

I’ve been running sword/axe staff with Shiro and ventari. Only level 25 at the moment but it is working quite well for me. As for traits I am currently spec’d in devastation the next line will probably be retribution or salvation. Haven’t decided yet.
I know the feeling OP. It sucks when a game design choice cramps your style. I don’t really mind the subtle hand glows or the Ele attunement though because they are subtle. At least they don’t completely ruin shield skins like that stupid Aegis wart.
Sometimes when I have a crap day
I log another warrior from my second account into a custom arena just so my main warrior can have an easy kill.
People want an xpac to be as big as the original game? That’s not how it works, especially in an MMO. Part of the price is future content.
This is a big part of the problem. Game companies started selling promises instead of actual content and gamers bought into it.
Yeah, I would dump the tactics line you have only 1 shout on your bar and no soldier runes. No self might generation so phalanx strength would not be an option either. With you current setup, tactics has very little benefit.
If you go for discipline you get all the good stuff like Fast Hands so you can pick a better runes set, Warrior Sprint to help from being locked down, and Brawlers Recovery to make up for the loss of Shrug it off.
I feel like I deserve a title for having done it before the change
I agree, anyone who is willing to hunt down every single HP point does deserve some form of recognition. Whether it be a skin or title.
I for one am very grateful for the change to 250 HP. The only thing that 400HP challenged was my patience. I just hope that they don’t nerf the actual difficulty of content like raids and fractals cause I do like to challenge my skill.
I understand that some my feel a sense of loss of progression but the truth is that there is tons of progression to be made with masteries, fractals, raids, guild halls, precursor/legendary crafting, skins, achievements etc. Locking fun game play mechanics behind an unnecessary grind wall is not needed and is, quite frankly, bad design.
The Bereserker is the worst HoT elite spec hands down. There is no possible way to defend it or argue against that fact.
The berserker spec trait like actually DOWNGRADES the warrior and makes him weaker, you won’t see a single Warrior grind for the hero points nor bother to get the elite spec. And in PVP they prefer remaining as a warrior.
Compared to the Necros, guards, rangers and thieves for example. Who have elite skills that nearly double their strengths, and no life the game for 10 hours a day in the jungle just to get those powerful Elite specs.
Months of balancing and ideas and yet Arena net somehow managed to find a way to make Warriors WEAKER with the elite spec. My mind is blown.
The reason Berserker doesn’t work well at the moment is because of the opportunity cost involved in picking up that trait line. Too many blackhole traits and utilities to make it worthwhile.
I am running zerk r and glass condi builds and I feel the difficulty level is just perfect for open world. I pay dearly if I make a mistake which is the way it should be. If I’m foolish enough to agro everything at once then I deserve to die.
It’s a learning curve and a difficult transition from what we are used to but once people figure out the mechanics and what builds work the content will get much easier.
I think it is only supposed to work in tyria… but I cant back that up with anything
I sure hope you’re wrong. If it is the case then why even bother.
Only 1 of my 8 characters has 100% map completion because I paid my wife to complete it for me.
LULWUT?
/15lulz
You read that right. 15g and she got to keep everything that drop from kills and chests. She enjoys running around maps searching for POIs,Vistas, and doing Hearts (ugh gag). She unlocked all my cities and 5 mid level zones. She dropped her first pre on my account. Well worth the price. I’m not particularly fond of crafting legendaries either so I let her keep it.
Even at 250 it will take me months to unlock an elite on any of my alts cause chasing HPs is not something I particularly enjoy doing.
