Even if they made FH baseline, any self respecing warrior will still be picking the discipline specialization. Any warrior that doesn’t is seriously gimping their potential and shouldn’t be taken seriously.
Could you please elaborate on why you think this? Currently you’ve only given your opinion and not the reasons why that is your opinion. We can discuss the reasons. We can’t really discuss your opinion :-p
I think it is pretty obvious why.
Versatile Rage – cause we need adrenaline to use our core mechanic, even more so since Anet butchered it. (Why wouldn’t you want this?)
Warrior sprint – not only does it get us from point A to B 25% faster but all our movement skills also get a 25% boost along with breaking immo (which is quite broken since Anet made it stack in duration.) (Why wouldn’t you want this?)
Inspired Battle Standard or Destruction of Empowered depending on if you want support or more DPS (Why wouldn’t you want this?)
Versatile Power – free might on weapon swap (goes nicely with fast hands and phalanx strength) and also -15% burst CD (Why wouldn’t you want this?)
Burst Mastery- MOAR BURST! (Even hammers should be taking this over Merciless Hammer) (Why wouldn’t you want this?)
The entire trait line doesn’t just cater to a specific weapon set or a specific role (Tank/Support/DPS) but the entire class regardless of what build you are running.

Absolutely, I didn’t mention it because it was off topic but this would clearly be the best choice. Better take the whole Discipline traitline than the defense one.
Cleansing Ire is currently the trait that takes away our build diversity, not Fast Hands (well at least not as strongly). This is subjective though. Sure, without Cleansing Ire, your condition mitigation on warrior is so lackluster that you pretty much have to take it in the competitive scene (along with longbow for this very reason). However, give me one viable build without Fast Hands? One would not get rekt as hard by condi’s without Fast Hands as you would without CI, but it does make you so much weaker that you still have to take it. This means, that even if our condi management options get expanded through the patch, that you still have to take discipline, which inevitably reduces build options, even though Discipline is probably our best traitline, after Defense.
Don’t forget that we are tentatively getting some buffs to our other cleansing options which will reduce our dependency on CI in that regard. Honestly, the real reason I take CI at the moment is for the adrenaline gain cause without it our core mechanic is kitten.
Edit: NVM, just re-read your post, seems like I didn’t register the last 3 sentences. Either way our build options would still be limited. Give fast hands and we are still forced into defense for adrenaline gain. Give us adrenaline gain and we are still forced into discipline for fast hands. I would prefer being forced I to the latter since the entire line is benefts our core. It would also open up more dps options.

I love this one, go to LA, join a southun survival game, afk for a few minutes and get a free daily reward.
About 300$ since launch.
This is going to come in handy, I’ve been looking for something like this. Now I can confidently place buy orders without guessing at how much salvage I’ll be getting out of it. It’s not something I will be focusing on but I will definitely be adding some of this to my flipping efforts.
If the current achievements are place holders that have been there since launch and have not been updated in the 3 years since then that is a pretty good indication of how many kittens Anet gives about WvW.
I say let’s skip Ascended Runes/Sigils and go directly to Legendary ones, allowing us to choose the stats we want. So you can pick which rune/sigil to use, running CM you get Sigil of Justice, then when you go to Arah you change it to Undead Slaying.
When you want to Stack might for your team, you switch to Strength Runes, when you want to do more damage and can stay above 90% health, you switch to Scholar Runes, when you want more mobility you switch to Traveler runes, etc etc
The possibilities are endless and there is no need to increase the stat boosts, just allow players to “morph” their runes/sigils to the one they want.
Add legendary armor to that (as long as stats don’t increase) and it would be something worth working for.
I can’t believe that I flush some stuff down the toilet and get something back or telephone up a wall or fall down a bottomless pit and get way point to a safe location or raise myself from the dead by having a pink orb in my pocket or have mrchants magically appear and buy the lint in my pocket or swim to the watery depths of bloodtide and back up to the surface without suffering the effects of decompression or have 30 people run right through another 30 people without any stumbling, I could go on forever with all the things that are unbelievable in this game.
Just no, it’s not needed and would bring nothing to the game except another grind for BIS.
I took a 6 month break form WvW because I was tired of having nothing and I also got bored with Anets lack of interest in this game mode.
3. and a heavy bag of coins which never gave more than a few silve (got one that gave me 8 copper once).
Should have kept that bag of coins. It got quite heavy.
What is so special about them that people are willing to pay that much for them? The max they will ever give are 1.5 gold
It is still better than what you use to get out of them.
1. A salvage kit, a merchant of some kind or a boost (a crafting one usually),
2. stupid tonic,
3. and a heavy bag of coins which never gave more than a few silve (got one that gave me 8 copper once).
I ran a PvP bill without fast hands for a long time with a fair measure of success. Was it optimal? No. Was it viable? Yes. Making fast hands baseline would be quite OP. You are not just getting an amazing trait for free, you would then have room for another really good trait. The compound effect wot be way to strong.
To be honest. strictly spoken you are acting in violation of the user agreement. An account is personal and if your wife made the account, she agreed to the user agreement and is therefor the rightfull owner. Account sharing is not allowed. In general, support doesn’t make a fuzz out of things, speciall when it is between man and wife. But in the case that (and I wish this not for you!!) that you two get into a fight and split and in case she wants to play it nasty, she can rightfully claim the account as hers, cause she is the owner. That is exactly why a display name change is so incredible difficult. From a legal point of view, it is her account. By letting you change the displayname she would be unable to prove ownership and you would be technically stealing the account.
I’m not at all saying you are a bad person (nor your wife). But please understands that break ups happen, relationships break up and it can get messy. That is why account ownership is such a big thing.
What you should have done is get support to fix the initial name change, or atleast got a refund for the account that was bugging. From the refund money you could have bought a new key, which you activated and would be handled as yours (and you likely would have chosen a different accountname in the first place).
So your case is exactly showing why this is so complicated.
If an displayname change would be allowed, then it would need to be indeed a one time thing with a very secure proof of ownership manually done by support. Cause if the request doesn’t come from the original owner, that person has a lot more difficulty to proof owernship afterwards.Don’t get me wrong. I actually agree that there should be an option. some of these names, might not fit into the strict guidelines, but are ill chosen non the less. But security has to be tight.
I’ll complicate it even more, I paid for both accounts with my credit card. I see your point, it’s big mess that they don’t have to want to sort through. Although, if my wife decided to leave me, a GW2 account would be the least of my worries.

+1
Ive lost PvP progress and rewards, bosses (like tequel) drops and dungeons rewards because of random dc at the end. What about if we can have a setting to show our pings? So we can at least see if our internet is playable, like in PvP it happened a few times that my internet is all good in the lobby but, in the match it was unplayable.
Don’t they already show your ping in the settings menu along with your fps?
I inherited this display name from my wife at launch. She was unable to sync her gw1 stuff at the time so she bought another account and gave me this one. I asked three years ago to have it changed and was told to be patient.
All they have to do is add an option for display name instead of using the account name. It’s not that kittening hard.
Account Name and # = used by Anet for whatever reason they need to use it for.
Display Name = Just a name linked to your Account Name and number and is what shows up on your forum posts, in your friend list when offline.
Character name= self explanatory.
You just described almost exactly what is already in place. Your account “name” is the email. Your display name is the one with the numbers added to the end. Character name is character name.
I was under the impression that your email is just login information that can be changed on a whim. You display name(and following numbers) are your actual account I.D. along with your license key.
You can only change your Account Name (email address associated with your game account) through Customer Support after giving sufficient proof you are the actual owner of the account. It is unique, and is never shown publicly.
The Display Name is just that. A name that is displayed in-game/on the forums/etc., and it is your identifier. It does not have to be unique, as a number is assigned to it to differentiate duplicate names.
They must have changed that cause I clearly remember changing my email address without having to contact support.

Here is an idea out of supercell’s CoC playbook. A 1 time only name change option. It couldn’t get abused and those who made a poor name choice or inherited a name they don’t care for like me could make the change. Anet would stop getting a bunch check a requests for it.
It’s between thief, mesmer or engi mmm no turrets, elixirs, mantras or glamours.
@Julie Yann There is too much boon generation already boon hate need to more common.
It wouldn’t be a passive effect. You would need to activated it and would get the effect for 5 to 10 seconds, 20 to 30 sec CD. You are still suffering from the condi so it’s not a cleanse or conversion. Would add some counter play to condi spam. Condi dealers would have to think twice before unloading their skill. Limit it to offensive boons so not protection, recently or aegis.
There is already enough counters to condi specs especially in AoE format,it doesn’t matter passive or not, they are adding resistance and making quickness a boon…,it hinders boon hate even more.
You are probably right. It’s just an idea and probably would work with the confines of the game as it is. I just think warriors should be become more dangerous as the fight progresses without all the passive play. I’ve been playing main warrior since launch cause I like the in your face brutish combat style but sadly we have been reduce you support roles and CC bots.

I would like to see something active that makes us more dangerous when we are affiliated with conditions. Example, getting vulnerability also grants you might, weakness grants you swiftness,, etc.
When people say levelling acts as an extended tutorial they’re referring to gradually unlocking your skills, traits and other ways to customise your character (like armor going from 1 to 2 to 3 stats). Plus gradually encountering new mechanics, like conditions and attacks which have to be dodged to survive.
It’s supposed to give you time to familiarise yourself with each system and skill/trait before getting a new one, instead of having all the options of a level 80 character dropped on you right at the start.
Which is why it can be a problem when people try to power-level their first character. I once did a dungeon with a guy whose friend had persuaded him to buy the game and sent him a bunch of gold and materials so he could level up quickly by crafting. He’d been playing a week, almost finished levelling and didn’t know the most basic things. As in he didn’t know it was possible to dodge attacks, let alone what key to press or when to do it, he didn’t know what his skills did and couldn’t understand the descriptions so he just equipped signets and didn’t activate them. As you can probably imagine he died a lot.
That’s why levelling can be helpful. The levels themselves may not mean much but even for experienced gamers RPGs are complicated and no two are completely identical so it’s helpful to be introduced to the mechanics gradually. I’ve been playing RPGs for 22 years and my newest one (Dragon Age: Inquisition) still confuses me sometimes, and that’s seriously dumbed down compared to a lot of others.
A game wiithout any levels could still effectively teach the same things through personal story instances.
Vertical=grinding out levels you access gear that will allow you to do content previously inaccessible.
Horizontal=levels up and getting best gear real fast allowing you to access all the content now and grinding for cosmetics and perks like magic find, permanent contract and other fancy convenience items that aren’t required to enjoy the content.
i don’t think thats what vertical and horizontal really means
vertical is like climbing a ladder, you have to climb the ladder to become more powerful. higher level is more powerful; high level character, high level skills (mastery), high level gears (exotic/ascended), gaining additional skill points after level 80
horizontal is like on a journey to discover things. combinations of different skills to create different results, skill points from map explorations. ability to dodge and utilize your skills to win, crafting because you need to get the materials.
the new mastery thing in HOT, is both a horizontal and vertical thingy
there are no games that are pure vertical or horizontal, all games will adapt both. there are games that are more towards vertical while there are games that are towards horizontal. at the end of the day, it doesnt matter if the game is towards horizontal or vertical, the only thing that truly matter is the overall design of the game if it is fun or not.
That is pretty much what I was saying using different words.

I think they should just get rid of badges and implement reward tracks similar to what they do in PvP. As for extra rank points, maybe have lines for increased karma/gold/exp/MF gain but make them exponentially more expensive to get. Sort of like the MF you get from luck.

Not stupid pets, or minions, or conjurations of anykind. No cheap gimmicks like the other classes have.

I would prefer insa-level 80 so no, gw2 leveling is not too fast.
Posted this in another thread. If an average player logging 10 hours a week killing yaks at a rate of 30 yaks an hour it would take him 64years!
Did anyone ever do the math for yak slapper achieve? If an average player logs 10 hours a week, killing nothing but yaks at a rate of 30 yaks an hour it would take approximately 64 years! LOLz
As for your runes. In WvW your are better of going with Melendez or Holbrook with – condi food and dogged March. That will keep you from getting completely locked down by chills and cripples.
OP You still have all those points that you can allocate somewhere else so you haven’t done all that work for nothing.
I spent a lot of time get those on 3 toons before they made WvW account wide and I support having them removed. It was a dumb idea, it never should have been introduced into the game and was an unnecessary power creep.
(edited by Julie Yann.5379)
LB/H/GS, I can already here the QQ.
With the new changes you will have the advantage of not wasting your hard earned gold on stupid upgrades. No more need to farm PvE to pay for WvW. So instead of making you poorer you can just remain poor.
I really don’t see the big deal about removing them. It’s a nerf to everybody and will level the playing field for newcomers. Personally I think they never should have put them in the game.
Some warriors seems to use skills kind of fast. You dodge hammer stun and whirlwind seems to come almost instantly after that. Sometimes feels like that you can’t double dodge fast enough.
If you see him swap after dodging the stun, move towards him. You will take a lot less damage from whirlwind. It most effective against targets trying to move away.
We already have a place to duel, it’s called Obsidian Sanctum, all the have to do is make the instance mega server.
Lots of chill and cripples and immo will shut down pretty much any GS build. Freeze him and watch Usain Bolt turn into Simon Pegg in “Run fatboy Run”. Don’t stay in melee range while he is chilled/crippled/ or immobilized cause if he whirlwinds you will be taking a ton of damage.
As for tips on GS/H in particular, learn to recognize and dodge Earthshaker and Backbreaker skills or eat 100blades. The build is just another one trick pony similar to skullcrack. Once you learn what damage you should take and what you should evade/block it becomes fairly easy to beat for most classes.
-40% condition duration food, dodged march -33%, Holbrek rune -20%pretty much would be on those Warrior all times. Gl Chilling/Crippling/immobilizing them. Also it’s not one trick pony because it actually has good sustain against direct damage. Their strength come from consistent snaring/ mobility/ CC/ burst and sustainability.
Seriously, if a GS/H Warrior doesn’t use those -condition duration stuffs I mentioned, and toughness not at least 3k, they’re pretty much inexperienced Warrior roamers and shouldn’t take it seriously.
+conditon food and sigils/runes can counter that and anyone running any form of condi in WvW without those is inexperienced and shouldn’t not be taken seriously. Lots of blinds will also effectively shut down the hammer part of the build.
While fasthands has is a great trait to have it is not essential. It is just so good that you can’t see yourself not using it but a build can definitely work without it.
What is essential; to all warriors? Adrenaline. Without it we are not warriors. If you truly want build diversity you should be asking for “Embrace Pain” as baseline. Cleansing Ire will still be very good with it and warriors will not be forced to got into the defense line just to get good adrenaline gain. At the moment we have to spec in 2 lines for that. That’s 2 lines just to use our core mechanic.

You have other options to take that are much quicker, not a big deal.. Today I Collected passiflora while waiting for K Queen, killed a yak and a vet in WvW. Took about 5 mins.
But if you leave I will be alone to roam T1 with nothing to fight but zergs, stray zerglings, runaway zerglings that suddenly become very brave when 15 of their friend show up and 5 man ambush parties that wait for you to engage someone before rofl stomping you.
I don’t blame you for wanting to move, I’ve been thinking of doing the same.

I don’t give a crap if I get any mats or not from salvaging WvW gear. I just want my expensive runes and sigils back.

lol thieves and mesmers broke the servers
So is this change going to be gradual or are we going to wake up one morning with a brand new LA. We’ve been watching the same npc’s smacking their heads against the same structures for a year now with no progress. What all of their hard labor is finally going to bare fruit with a magical appearance of a new city?
Anet should have started this process 12 months ago and slowly phased in a new Lions Arch 1 building at a time. It would have been a truly immersive experience to watch the city slowly evolve.
I have leveled 31 chars to lvl 80 and mostly enjoyed it. Must be something wrong with me.
I must agree
I was going to give a “1/10 nice try” rating but given the amount of people that actually replied to this I will have to re-evaluate that number.
I tend to agree with the OP. I have 6 lvl80, only 1 of them was leveled normally. All the others were either crafted or tomed cause the leveling experience is just lame. It’s like the fun and interesting character development doesn’t start happening until to hit lvl70 where you have enough traits to start experimenting with different builds.
Add to that the wonderful new trait unlock system they introduced with the new player experience project….. ugh gag!
I think the overall graphics are pretty good. The in game post processing is pretty horrible though. I turned it off cause I couldn’t stand to look at it. I use sweetfx for that now.
What I really would like and it is probably never going to happen is a DX11 64 bit client so the game can utilize resources more efficiently.
