I want a main hand shield so I can build a dual shield warrior. Then maybe I’ll have a chance of getting the shield weapon master achievement.

I don’t really get why people are arguing about this?
They could just scale dungeons down, so they were soloable with about (I say “about” – wouldn’t have to be exact) the same amount of effort and skill as is required in a full group.
As long as it was a scaling thing, it wouldn’t stop people doing them in groups, if they prefer that.
I think all the unnecessary arguing is, basically, demonstrating the reason why a lot of people prefer to solo in the first place.
The natural thing for humans to want to be is social, but it does not feel social to be forced to group with antisocial people, all the time.
In other words, you can’t force people to be your friends – you have to let them do what they like, so they then hopefully want to be, of their own volition.
The problem is not the really the scaling or difficulty most of that can be countered with practice. The problem is that some dungeons have to have 4 or 5 people to unlock a path. An example is CoF where 4 people stand in the fire bubble while 1 guy takes out the guard watching the door.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
The tricky bit with fast hands is that there’s just no true alternatives, outside of perhaps the warrior runes. I’m not convinced that making it baseline is the proper way to go either, but there’s numerous builds that go 3 into discipline for no other reason than to get fast hands (although warrior’s sprint and mobile strikes can be nice pick ups as well). They either need some alternative means of acquiring similar functionality, some sort of tradeoff that is truly worthwhile, or the trait needs to be made baseline in order to stop the necessity of investing in discipline.
I, for one, would like to see some kind of strength/arms/tactics build that is good at… something. What? I don’t know. But something.
I don’t mind having to spec in discipline for reason stated above but I can see why some people wouldn’t want to.
Maybe making both fast hands and “embrace pain” baseline is the solution we are looking for. Would possibly even allow for a strength/arms/tactics build to be useful for something.

Warriors should be putting points in Discipline anyway, it directly improves your core mechanic which is "Adrenaline burst ".
This is the mentality that the OP wants to steer away from though. If there are trait lines/specializations that “should be” invested into because they have too critical an impact, it could represent a design flaw that kills off possible build variety an variation.
Now I’m not convinced making fast hands baseline is the proper solution either, but if it’s simply too difficult to be viable without it, then maybe it should be made baseline. That way people could play around with other build options without having to lose something that’s core to their profession’s viability/effectiveness.
I don’t think fast hands is the solution. Every class has a goto trait line that will need to be picked. The problem we have with warrior is that we have 2 must have traitlines that need to be spec’d in. Defense and Discipline. Discipline improves the very core of our profession and benefits DPS and Tanks alike.
The only real reason people spec in defense is the adrenaline gain from Cleansing Ire and the defense line only really benefits the tanks. We are getting some decent condi removal and healing options which make cleansing ire less of a must have in that regard but the fact that it grants a huge amount of adrenaline in combat will mean warriors will still be going to it for their adrenaline fix. We will still be forced into 2 trait lines.
2 options can fix this. Remove Adrenaline gain from CI and make it baseline (I prefer this one) or combine versatile rage and versatile power into the grandmaster minor and move that adrenaline gain “Embrace Pain” into discipline adept minor.

This war, spies are to be expected. If it is against the ToS, how do you prove it?
They don’t need to prove it. This is a video game not real life. The level of proof required is pretty much zilch in comparison.
So are they supposed to start banning everyone being reported without finding any evidence? I think that would severely hurt their player base.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Take a page from Lotro’s yearbook and you will see they have lost more than 50% of their player base by killing off raiding and group play.
From 2012 to 2015 they never released a proper group instance/raid and nearly all the veterans have left the game.
It all started with solo players asking to get the same rewards as raiders from solo play. Next step was to make instances soloable. The next step was to not make any instances at all. They have bled too many players and now they are trying to recover but it’s not possible.
Don’t let the same thing happen to GW2.
You could solo everything in GW1 if you wanted too. It never killed the game.
So you want GW2 to be focused on solo players? That’s never a good sign for an MMORGP. It’s a snowball effect.
Personally, I don’t really care either way. I’m just saying it would be nice to be able to have that option and that if done right, wouldn’t kill the game. At the moment, when I’m feeling anti social I just roam some wvw maps or farm meta events and do stuff that doesn’t require being in a party, it would be awesome if dungeons could be part of that list.
Redesigning current dungeons isn’t really feasible but maybe it is something they can keep in mind when designing future content. Also ensure that there is no advantage to soloing a dungeon, in fact, make it less rewarding than doing it with a party.

This war, spies are to be expected. If it is against the ToS, how do you prove it?
The comparison to spies is foolish.
In real life, spies can be captured or killed. In this game, spies appear as allies and we are without recourse.
You should know better and probably do.
Of course I do, and I don’t approve of the practice but it is what it is. I just don’t see what the big deal is. If the game is going to be played dirty just send your own spies to do the same. Like I said, How do you prove it?

Massive MULTIplayer Online
The game was also advertised as play the way you want to play. Sometimes some of us just want to play alone. The great thing about MMOs is playing with other people. The bad thing about MMOs is that you are obligated to play with other people
Why dont you play single player action rpgs than? There are more than enough of them. Don’t understand the logic of People coming to a MMORPG (multiplayer yes) demanding that everything is a singleplayers game, which they know it isn’t.
I’m not saying you should be playing GW2 solo all the time. I’m just saying it would be nice to have the option of playing solo when you don’t feel like putting up with other player’s or for extra challenge. Nothing is being taken away from the game, the multi-player aspect remains unchanged and all you little social butterflies could still mingle to your heart’s content.
Yes there are single player rpgs but sometimes we’d like to play GW2 without all the stupid people. It would also allow some of us to actually watch the cutscenes without getting kicked or annoying someone else.

YES!! Someone else gets it!!
The problem I have with the upcoming changes is that we will be force into taking both defense and discipline leaving only free1 trait line for build diversity. I don’t mind having 1 mandatory trait line but not 2. Discipline is the trait line directly associated with our core mechanic. It only makes sense that every warrior be running it.
We are getting some nice healing/cleansing options so CI will still be good but won’t have a monopoly over our cleanse.
Another option would be to combine versatile rage and versatile power into GM minor and put “embrace pain” as discipline adept minor. I never understood why an adrenaline gaining trait ever got a spot in the defense line in the first place. It belongs in the discipline line.

Fast hands doesn’t need to be baseline. Warriors should be putting points in Discipline anyway, it directly improves your core mechanic which is "Adrenaline burst ". I would rather make the adrenaline gain from CI baseline.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”

Discipline should be a must for warriors anyway since it is the line that directly affects our core mechanic “Adrenaline Burst”. Having fast hands and warrior sprint in there is not really a problem. The problem is we will be forced into 2 trait lines, Discipline and Defense, in order to have a viable build. Severely gimping build variety.
I would say, remove the adrenaline gain from CI and make “gain adrenaline when hit baseline.” That way we aren’t locked into picking defense line in order to effectively use our core mechanic (which got nerfed to kitten in the past year). We are getting some condi cleansing options but I think they just won’t be good enough to compare to CI as long as it has a hold of adrenaline gain.
Another option would be to combine versatile rage and versatile power in GM minor and make" Gain adrenaline when hit" adept minor in discipline. This way we are forced into picking only 1 trait line and greatly increase the amount of viable builds.

It’s a vicious cycle of reward typical of MMOs. Story and game-play will only keep you entertained for so long. They want to keep you playing so they put some really nice shiny stuff for you to get which a lot of times is ridiculously expensive, time consuming, and tedious to get. The player wants that stuff and wants it as fast as possible so they find the most efficient way of getting it. The game actually rewards you for cutting corners by allowing you to get all that nice stuff quicker. People stop playing for the fun and instead start playing like freaking robots doing the same stuff over and over again just to get the item they want. When numbers start dropping they add some new content hiding some new shinies and the cycle repeats itself.

I like the idea of the monk although monks traditionally don’t wear heavy armor. A physical staff weapon would make sense. I’d still prefer a land based spear or pole arm.
I wouldn’t mind some magic but not in the for of spells. Maybe anti-magic would be a better term. Something that can turn magic user’s magic against them by making you stronger. No sure how that could be worked into the game though.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Basically, every future warrior (pvp/wvw) build will have Defense and Discipline. The third trait line will be determine by what type of build you run. Not very much different than what we are stuck with now.

I really really want a magical theme added to Warriors with Elite Specs.
I could see a Warrior-Mage Spell Breaker, using 1hander Scepter main hand,
Or Focus offhand…I really not feeling Pistols or Daggers…
I agree, daggers and pistols feel more like a heavy armor thief than a warrior. with offensive melee spells or weapon enchantments however you keep can the feel of the warrior combat style. A off hand dagger like samurai might work but definitely don’t see pistols fit the warrior mold.

While current builds might get a nerf if left in their current state due to the new trait lines. The idea of 666 builds will open up some new possibilities which will make some really strong builds. The question is, will those hold up to what other professions are getting?

If they put in a Spear/Shield combo for Warrior, and had at least one ranged skill to go with the weapon set I would definitely come back to GW2 for that!!

I think this is a case of not knowing your enemy. I run a full zerk medi guard build and have no issues surviving. I died quite a lot at first but once you learn how each mordrem fights it isn’t very hard to avoid the hard hitting damage.

SW was already failing constantly before the Amber nerf. Nothings really changed. The main reason it fails is cause to many players don’t know how to fight the bosses during the breach. We’ve killed platinum with only 5, silver and gold with about 10-15. Get more people educated on the boss fight mechanics and the breaches will succeed more often.
You cans still get a fair amount of chests if you roam the map and help a little bit everywhere.

Farmers seriously think that without them the rest of the game will not have enough population to complete events in game? Wow, well thanks for a good laugh.
And since a sample size of 1 is enough to prove a point, yesterday i was in a map for 2 hours, never failed an event and got all the achievements except 1 of the legendaries. Guess that proves it isnt dead after all.
The problem wasn’t the farmers. It was that this farm was just so rewarding that it encouraged everyone who doesn’t normally farm to go farm with them and pretty much ignore the rest of the game (not just the map). Once you got your achieves, why would you try for a successful breach when camping Amber gave you so much more?
I would have also liked to see upgradable siege and have the walls hold longer than 30 seconds.

What is grind for me? Anything that I find tedious and am requried to do for an extended amount of time (kind of relative) in order to achieve something I want.
Examples: Leveling a toon to 80 and unlocking all the traits the intended way. Crafting ascended and legendary gear. Killing the 1000 giants for the achieve.

Haaaaiiii
So 2 days ago I was playing and the map was so full everywhere I went there were people playing, I even found maps that had 50-60 commander tags on them and the LFG tool was full of SW ferries, and now today I log in and all of a sudden it’s dead. Everything is dead, all the people disappeared, everyone is gone…
What happened ? It’s only been 2 days.
2 days ago I was playing the map and the only fort being defended was amber which had a massive zerg. Everybody was farming chest and completely ignoring the rest of the map.
Today all the forts were being defended, breaches were being successfully completed, legendary bosses were spawning all over and we still had time to open a few chest in between events.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I gave up on the LS half way through Season 1 cause I found it dumb and full of tedious things to do. My wife convinced me to go try out the new map since I am an avid WvWer. Finally some PvE worth my time.
As for the actual story and the instances, still no great master piece but it’s much much better. I just wish we could skip all the dialog when you go back for the achieves. I know there is no culinary application for bloodstone dust. Why do I have to stand there and listen to it over and over again?
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I don’t get it. I’ve been in the Silverwastes all day and must have killed Silver and Gold at least 6 times with 4/4 level 3 defense at breach. The Amber fix definitely hasn’t killed the map. I just wish all the nubs would learn how the stupid poison bubbles work.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Here is an idea Anet about the transfers.
Atm i play on Desolation but since the gem price and gem amount is 1000(which is a lot for a wvw player) makes me unable to transfer to less populated servers suck as Piken Square, now if this was free i would do it right away, my point being is that transferring from Tier 1 servers to Tier 2 should be free of charge, that will promote a lot of transfers and will make WvW a lot more interesting. You can keep the 1k gem price for transferring to the high populated servers.
Then you would run into the same problem we had in the first few months. Large guilds would transfer to low tier servers. K-train their way back up the ranks with totally unblalanced match-ups and start the process all over again when they get back to the top messing up the server ratings in the process.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
The only way, Julie? I think something like EotM “battle groups” is the answer. I don’t know of an MMO that has conjoined the two continents, I’m guessing the biggest impediment is latency.
Is it an overflow instance type setup like EoTM? If so, why would guilds invest to upgrade and defend something on a map that might get erased and replaced as population fluctuates during the day?
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
The only way to have a chance of fixing the coverage problem would be to remove the separation between NA and EU servers but Anet says it is a technical impossibility. I say they are just not trying hard enough or willing to invest enough to do it.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
You can get the skins with 1k bandit crests and 1 gold. Easy enough if you don’t want to play the short story.
It’s much faster getting them by playing the story. I prefer buying lockpicks with the crests, way more rewarding.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Did you attempt these on the same character you completed the chapter on? Because you cannot do them on a different character that hasn’t done the new story yet.
That would explain it. I guess they aren’t getting done then. The only reason I’m replaying the stupid story is to unlock the light and medium skins and you need different characters each time.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I just did a second play through to get more shoulder pads. I was also trying to unlock some achievements at the same time. I know I mined every corpse in the recon mission, and I definitely know I kill facet of light without using blue or green attunements cause it was to longest boring fight ever. I wasn’t seeing any achieves being awarded and thought that I might get them at the end of the story but they didn’t.
I the only one not getting them? I want to know before I waste my time trying to get achievements that don’t get awarded.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
@OP, you definitely have the right build. What kind of sigils are you running? I find that maintaining condi pressure on them while evading their burst works. Most medi builds have pretty limited cleansing options and their good cleanses have long CDs.

I say free transfers for only the bottom 3 servers. All others still have to pay.

For the bottom 3 servers not to the bottom 3.
i.e. those in the bottom 3 servers are transfer up, noone can transfer down to then. You get everyone out of those and then close down the server.

So it’s the bottom servers that’s causing the main issues with WvW???
They are not but vacating them could be part of the solution. Why the heck anyone would transfer out of T1,2,3 down to T7,8,9? If WvW sucks on your server then transfer out and go somewhere WvW doesn’t suck. WvW has a relatively healthy population and coverage in the upper tiers. Why break that in an attempt to save dying servers that will never have healthy populations?

Quite dont understand that “huge” dps nerf. Was just 5% on 100 blade, and as for adrenal,i build it within 2-3 sec in PvE depending on how many thingies am hiting and what wep i got. With axe its kitten fast, and its hiting for 7-8k on 3rd aa chain on not full zerker warr, which is really high “on lvl 80”.100 blade is still hiting like truck. So what HUGE nerf ppl rant so much?
You forgot the DPS loss at the start of the fight until you build up your adrenaline for berserker’s power trait. We can’t carry our adrenbalin. Personally Icve been getting around it by using Healing Surge at the cost of some sustain.
