The new maps are perfect for someone like me who just likes killing things. Masteries are perfect the way they are. You gradually unlock them just be playing whatever you feel like playing which, for me, happens to be killing hordes of bad guys. HPs on the other hand were over the top, glad the dropped it done to 250.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I was able to play the core game and gradually unlock all my core skills doing stuff I enjoyed doing. Now with the HP system I am forced into hunting down content that I have no interest in just to unlock game mechanics that should have never been locked behind specific content.
Only 1 of my 8 characters has 100% map completion because I paid my wife to complete it for me. 400 HP for me is an insufferable grind. 250 points seems like a reasonable compromise, I will still have to work for it but at least I get to enjoy the new specs before I get tired of playing the xpac.
The game has plenty of progression in the game with masteries, legendaries, and fractals. The elite spec does not need to be a long term goal.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I will give it 2 ratings, if I pretend elite specs don’t exist and just play the rest of the content then HoT is a solid 8/10. Masteries are great, events are fun, content is actually a little challenging and the story is actually worth paying attention too, this is the first time I haven’t just skipped all the scenes. Haven’t done fractals yet but I am looking forward to playing them along with unlocking the guild hall.
Since elite specs where hyped so much and were a major selling point for the xpac the disappointment that followed discovering the unlock requirements really sours the rest of the game. 3.5/10 is the final rating, this is a kitten up that is hard to ignore.
I wouldn’t mind grinding out the first elite if it opened up a special merchant that allowed me to just purchase the rest but I feel the best solution would be to lower the requirement so that you get your elite by the time you leave Verdant Brink. That way you can play the rest of the new content with your new spec.

I don’t think HoT is that grindy but the gates that gate other gates that gate what you really want are a real kittening deterrent. I was hoping to be able to play and discover HoT with one of the elites I was so looking forward to playing but as it is now I will have played the entire xpac before I get to fully enjoy the reason I bought it in the first place. Real kittening bad design there.
Given that I only have 1 character with map completion I might eventually get to play 1 elite spec but the mere though of having to go hunt down every single hero challenge for every alt makes me gag. I guess I could mindlessly follow a pin on EOTM but for some reason that though doesn’t seem much more appealing.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I just dread the idea of having to farm hero points on all my alts to unlock their elite specs instead of just doing what I find enjoyable and eventually unlocking them.

Ever since the patched, I have gotten 3 chest from EoTM but no keys so far. I’m guessing it must of been a 0.0001% increased.
or maybe a 100% increase on a 0.0000001% drop rate which would give us a whopping 0.0000002% chance.
Wasn’t much of a key farmer, I average 1 or 2 key runs a week so no big change for me. All I hope for is that this will speed up the return on the 1200g worth of BL weapons skins I have sitting in the TP.

If we do ever get baseline fasthands who knows what nerfs would come with it.
This.
I can understand why they are being hesitant, because it’s a really powerful minor trait. Arguably one of the strongest if you think about it. Making it baseline would mean that we also get nerfs in other areas to compensate. (Which I am fine with, just stating a fact.)
I believe it would be a good thing for everyone. Devs wouldn’t have the near impossible task of trying to balance warrior so that non-FH builds are viable without FH builds being OP and we would get more build diversity.
Either they remove it completely and rebalance warrior without it or make it baseline and balance for it.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I have to agree with the OP. Sometimes all the visual effects are just too much for a normal brain to process. All of this could easily be fixed if Anet just gave options of turning down (or off) the overabundance of visual effects. that way people could customize their visual experience.

I really liked the Mawdrey questline. It was fine while actually providing something usefull at the end too. I use him everyday as my main way of gettign rid of bloodstone dust apart from anything. He mostly pops out rubbish but occassionaly u get the odd exotic or something interesting.
I would like the same for Dragonite ore. I just seem to accumulate SO much of the stuff. Be nice to have a mini quest line that resulted in an ore eater, be it a backpack or something at home instance.
There already is a dragonite ore eater, you get it from killing all the baby karka in LA.

Here is my feedback for this the event. I will start with the positive.
1. Having a possibility of getting items that were missed is great for those that would had loved to participate back them but weren’t able to attend due to RL.
and now the negative.
1. Lack of information about blooms and merchant. We were told that the merchant would be available for several months. Will there be other opportunities to get these blooms or do we have to abandon our families and responsibilities (and possibly a few night’s sleep) for the duration of this event? If this is a 1 time deal then the amount of blooms earned is atrociously low.
2. As everyone mention, the lack of rewards is astounding. The event doesn’t even cover the cost of WPing around the map chasing events to complete. (I’m not talking tag and run) No XP, no Karma, no random drops, not even a medal telling you how well you performed. It’s really quite sad.
3. Scaling, I spend most of the fight swing at nothing cause everything (even at full health) dies before my skill animation completes. I had to actually learn spawn locations and rate and preemptively attack the spawn area. These mordrem are definitely not anything to fear all you have to do is look at them and they die.
4. Scheduling, One 30 min event every hour on alternating maps really doesn’t feel like an invasion. Random invasions ( with a a limited amount of events and time limit) on each seperate map would really make it feel like a threat. You would even end up having to defend maps at once. Imagine fighting for Kessex hills and mid way you get a notification that Brisband is also being invaded. You must now push off the invasion on 2 fronts. This would make it make it a more immersive experience.

You showed a single fight with a double melee set in your video. This doesn’t prove anything about fast hands on melee sets. The rest of your video, you showed a set with a ranged weapon. Fast hands isn’t needed in sets with a ranged weapon; which has been stated multiple times in this thread.
My SS/LB hybrid begs to differ. Fasthands is absolutely needed for proper combo rotations, stacking might and perma fire shield. Without FH it is a joke.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
The damage of the skill is not low at all, it’s one of the highest damage available to the warrior in PvP. I’ve hit up to 14k with it already, don’t know why you’d say this is low.
Because it’s channeled… autoattacking deals more damage than it.
If you’re using the skill for its damage, you’re doing it wrong. Its only use comes from building adrenaline if for whatever reason no other method of doing so is available. I don’t really feel that tagging mobs is a good enough reason to call it a useful weapon since it’s not like it is very difficult to gain event credit without it, but some people seem to like it for that as well.
It’s not for gaining event credit, it’s for getting more drops, especially in temple runs but
I have to agree with you about it’s usefulness. Aside from filling my bags with loot it is pretty much a useless skill. I wouldn’t take it anywhere other than event farming.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I got a GS/SwAxe solo farming build and I use whirling axe all the time to tag mobs in big events.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I regret opening this can of worms. Right now warrior is weak in my opinion, because it can’t abuse celestial stats, so its stuck being either a frail rampager that needs shoutguard support or a settler’s shoutbow that has almost no damage to speak of . And to be honest, only elementalist can really use celestial efficiently right now.
But warriors all have the theoretical tools to use celestial, but it doesn’t work right now because the survivability isn’t there. Would fast hands help with this? What other viable build options would having this trait baseline open up?
At the moment we pretty much require Defense and Discipline to be viable in PvP. Which limits us to 4 possible specialization combinations. Making FH baseline removes the requirement for discipline which would increase our possible specialization combinations to 10.

…….I don’t know if Fast Hands should be made baseline or not. I know, however, that I couldn’t play competitively without it (PvP-wise), because my skill rotations would suffer too much (you can just use the AA once your skills are on CD, the adrenaline-based mechanics is very simple, almost poor, it does not enhance much the basic gameplay – so I’d be kited to death without aggressive rotations).
^^^ Some much this. While there are a few builds that might work fine (but not great) without it, there are so many more that require it. It’s like most of the warrior was designed with faster weapon swaps in mind and not having it seriously gimps your ability to keep enough pressure on your enemy.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
If you don’t want to be interrupted all you have to do is go duel in an out of the way location like the entrance to the BL JP or south of south camp or in the top corners near skritt and centaurs. Duel anywhere else and the old “If it’s red, it’s dead” adage will hold true.

That is something you can report them for.
And which report subject heading would you see fitting? Go check them out. None fit. And for good reason.
It’s really not reportable. Seeing as it was a players choice to enter it. And how would you even prove to a GM that it was malicious or trolling? I’ve accidentally put down a few portals myself in poor places. I shouldn’t get reported.
problem solved by – don’t enter portals at all unless you know who’s placing them. if they pop under you during a loot just wait.
The one where mesmers caused the Triple Headed Wurm to fail by placing portals on top of items so people couldn’t access them to complete the event, would fall under griefing.
There is no option for griefing but when in doubt report them for botting and scamming. As for not entering unkown portals, well duh!!! Of course if you see it you wait but I see it happen many times in EOTM where Commander places a bunch of blueprints down and says “build!!” People rush in to try and get siege up as quickly as possible just to have a troll mesmer drop a surprise portal there leading to the edge of the abyss (that’s why I don’t build anything there anymore). That is griefing plain and simple and should be reported.
While I don’t support griefing of any kind. . . that’s sort of abusing the report system. Which could kick yourself in the butt if it gets noticed.
@Just a Flesh Wound – That’s a horrible thing. I can not begin to comprehend what kind of mindset it would take to sabotage and entire map purposely. Sadly though there is no “Griefing” subject heading when reporting. And honestly for something that dire I would almost insist Anet add it so it can be addressed.
On the other hand the fact that a slip of the hand or not paying attention for a split second can turn into putting a portal a bit too close to something (like a chest) and then you’d have 20+ people reporting a mesmer who was honestly not trying to do anything wrong.
It’s a hard situation either way, really.
An accidental portal misplacement reported by 20+ people on 1 occasion would not generate a patterned of behavior therefore would not be grounds for any form of punitive measure. The guy getting reported by 1 or 2 people on 20 different occasions would.

I am not a big fan of the trinity but I am all for revamping encounters to make different roles more important without every encounter requiring tank/heal/dps and I sure hope Anet will get this right.

No, they should be banned. They are intentionally causing harm by placing hostile portals at locations where they can’t be seen and where people will be pressing F so they end up taking it without their knowledge.
Don’t think they should get banned but Anet should make it so portals don’t take priority over siege weapons/blueprints, chests, trap activators, etc.

WARNING: You CANNOT buy 5 of the BL Key 5 packs. It says you can buy 5 at the 112 GEM price, but after I bought one the promo went away. ^%#$#$ I just traded a bunch of Gold at a ridiculously high exchange rate to get the GEMS too….
yeah that was very poorly advertised and misleading. 5pack for 112gems and directly below it says you can by 5 more at this price but you can only by 1 pack of 5 keys.

and no one asked you to sneakily place a portal there either.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Placing a portal directly underneath a chest or piece of siege in WvW is not poor portal placement, it’s down right trolling and trolls get reported. The only guy that finds this funny is the kitten placing the portal. If Anet decides to do something about it all the better. Until then, trolls will get reported.

I think the real problem with berserker is necessarily the rage machanic or the skills. Although in PvP you still need 2 stances to stay viable but like Tipper said, we have too many mandatory traits spread out through different lines. Not taking those traits in favor of the berserker trait line is too much of a trade off.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
I’ve been running S-T/LB rampager/strength runes (arms, disc, berserker) in PvE and while I can get some really nice burst by spamming all my burn skills at once I feel like my level of sustained DPS isn’t as good as it should be. Not having off hand sword leaves me with 0 blocks and have I to completely rely on dodges to mitigate damage.
Maybe if I could choose from a full range of different runes and sigil but with the limited selection we get it’s hard to guage the full potential of the build.
I haven’t taken the time to try it in PvP yet but I get the feeling that finding a strong berserker build is going to be a challenge.

For Heart of Thorns, we are rebalancing the WvW Lifetime achievement requirements to much more reasonable numbers. At the same time we’ll also be updating many of their associated titles.
- We are not changing the Realm Avenger (“Ultimate Dominator”) achievement requirements or title, as some players have actually obtained it and it’s a bit of a status symbol.
- The “Yakslapper” title will remain, but the requirement is being reduced to 2500 yaks.
- As an example title change: “Ultimate Liberator” will become “Kingmaker”
I have to say I am quite pleasantly stunned by this announcement. A very welcomed change. Not enough for me to take back every negative comment I’ve ever said (3 years of neglect is a lot to make up for) but keep it up and you guys might be able to restore my faith in your willingness to give WvW the attention it deserves.

Why do some many believe that having an optimal party setup is so necessary in this game? It isn’t. Fractal 50 which is supposed to be the hardest content can be 3 ar 4 manned. We do it almost every night in my guild and sell the remaining spots.
Although I don’t agree with elitism and find it toxic it’s part of human nature and there is nothing that can be done to change that. The real problem ( 2 part) are those who use the lfg incorrectly.
I see so many posts that aren’t clearly identified or in the wrong content groups. If you are expecting something specific from your pug make sure you clearly label it, it drastically increases you odds of getting what you are looking for and avoids unnecessary negative situations.
The other part of the problem are those who don’t read the group requirements and just click join and then cry because they got kicked. Seriously, take the time to read. It will avoid a lot of unnecessary negative situations.
Anet has decided that they do not want to encourage so called elitism so don’t expect them to put a lot of effort into making the LFG more restrictive. It’s up to the players to manage themselves.

I’m sorry you’re strugglng with the class. The class is not OP.
What’s OP is people not understanding that class’s mechanics ….and asking for nerfs because they’re ineffective versus the class.
I had never played mesmer before. I rolled 1 about a week ago, practiced for about 1 hour and now I’m a facerolling players left and right in PvP with half the effort I need to use with other classes. Mesmer is broken. There is no way that I should be having that level of success even against nubs with just 1 or 2 hours of play time.

See, as I understood that programmer from Anet, they absolutely want to fix it – one day, but yet they have no plans for it naturally, because the top priority right now is naturally first bringign out Heart of thorns currently… and then there is this big data problem that he described to me that is the main reason, why they are currently for so long time “clueless” how to solve it…
If they really wanted to fix this they would have done so already. It just never was, isn’t, and probably never will be on the priority list.

First two installments of the franchise are excellent, but the third game threw away all the promises they made over the five years of development and Bioware played the “Artistic License” and “You Just Don’t Understand Our Vision” cards in defense.
To be fair, if you get over the fact that the decisions you made through 1 and 2 have no real impact besides a few side missions and cut scenes MS3 is still a pretty awesome game with an epic story and is definitely worth playing.

According to stream primal burst skills will remove 3 conditions with cleansing ire. In fact all traits that depend on adrenaline level will work as if you adrenaline level is 3 if you have a full adrenaline bar in berzerker mode.
So, potentially clearing 9 conditions in 15 seconds plus whatever gets cleared with your other skills. Sounds pretty OP.
Actually 12 conditions, Berserk removes 3, then +3 for each Primal Rage skill.

Hybrid weapons aren’t suppose to give the best power or malice. It’s supposed to give you good versatility. If you come across a foe with high toughness your conditions make up for the lost direct damage and your condi build doesn’t get completely shut down by builds with high cleanse and resistance.
Sword if fine the way it is.
@BurrTheKing Try Sinister for Hybrid damage in PvE. It has the same power as Rampager and you don’t really need all that precision.

This was basically his answer in short lines of what I can remember what he said exactly:
- WvW Achievements will get fixed somewhen in the future, but he wasn’t naturally able to tell exactly when, because WvW achievements are currently a big problem for them.
- They are such a big problem, that he basically described the situation, that they are at the moment at a point, where they are “pointless” of how to solve the situation, because fixing all the other Achievements for WvW isn’t by far so easy, like changing those 2 other WvW Achievements, that have been cut down by required numbers.
- The reason for this is, so have I understood it is, its hard to make a decision to set up those new thresholds, because whatever new threshold they choose, there will be always people, which have then already much more points in certain achievements, and that would cause for the system a big problem, because then you would have for all these accounts, that are suddenly way higher than the new point threshold for the Achievements “false/wrong datas” in the system, that would cause Bugs and in the worst scenario could cause the data to be LOST
Reads: We could have easily fixed this 3 years ago but we were too busy not giving a kitten. Now that the problem has been ignored for so long it has grown too big for us to give a kitten. Maybe if we ignore it long enough there will be nobody left to give a kitten and then the problem will resolve itself.

The player’s real name in the My Account interface has nothing at all to do with that. Players are not identified in game by Anet or other players by their real names used to register the account. If you noticed, one can also change the phone number and birthday. This also has nothing to do with in game accountability.
True, it is irrevelvant to identifying players in game but unless someone legally changed their name then the only reason someone would change their real name in the settings (and Bday for that matter) would be because they acquired an account from someone else (traded, bought, or stolen) which is also against the UA.
As for the in game accountability, all they have to do is separate the display name from the account. If you blocked some kitten, he would still remain blocked regardless of what name is displayed. Also, unless you are in PvP you very rarely encounter the same people over and over again, and people will very rarely will remember the name of a particular kitten longer than a single play session. That;s why they have a “block” feature.
I think the issue is that a display name change feature is something that isn’t easy to implement within the current framework and that Anet doesn’t want to put any resources towards it cause it isn’t something that will generate any revenue.
