imo, unless money is an issue buying another slot and making a new char is better than deleting and rerolling. You can always park that char somewhere convenient and use it for storage of items you rarely use, including the odds and ends the game gives you (such as the gizmo that shows you the Zephyr Sanctum).

@sorca
If you want to use the combination of axe/warhorn and axe/axe, have axe/warhorn on one set and put a second axe on the second slot on the swap set.
The UI will have this set up
Top weapon set
Axe
Warhorn
Second weapon set
Nothing or a second axe, can have a different sigil
Axe
You can then use swap to switch between axe/warhorn and axe/axe.
I’ve added a couple more since my post a year ago and I’m sticking firmly to my standards of no lore based names, just names that amuse me. So my 2 new chars are
1) Another revenant, a male Charr named Prinzz Charr Ming
2) another Ele alt named Not Myself Today. Was my old Prinz Charrming taken?
Who stole the name I gave up? /fistshake
It’s a great name. I’ve had several people message me about it. I’m still working on a look for him at level 80. I’m thinking lots of pink with the Chicken Glider and the Chicken minipet.
Strangely enough, that exact same boat is also docked in LA, near that lobster.
I find it extremely odd that a ship of Canthan design is docked there.
There are people with Canthan ancestry in Tyria. Since it’s very likely they came over in a boat and that some were sailers or boatmakers it’s not that surprising if they still have old Canthan boats or build new boats with the Canthan style.

I would just as soon not have a backpiece with large wings sticking out to the sides, especially if it has a wide, brightly colored, glowing exhaust trailing behind. That would be way too obnoxious with people having that backpiece in a crowd or WvW or doing jps.
I presume the purpose of ddosing someone is to enjoy annoying as many people as possible.
A DDOS attack costs money. It’s supposed to hurt the organisation, not the people who visit thew website or log into a game. Even if the person/group that owns the botnet executes the attack, it takes resources they cannot otherwise use or sell.
Yes. But the question was, whats the purpose.
Since it costs the attackers money and if they aren’t getting a financial return, such as a payoff by the company to leave them alone then the purpose is to annoy and cause trouble.
It doesn’t cost the attackers money. It costs the victim money.
Ok. That’s the purpose then. By imposing costs on the victim they cause trouble and annoyance.
Or do you have another explanation as to what the purpose is? What does the attacker get out of it?
In short, who knows?
I would guess that they bear some grudge against ArenaNet or their parent or affiliated companies over some real or imagined hurt (which could literally be anything) that makes them feel justified in harming them financially and inconveniencing their customers.
It could simply be people revelling in a kind of power fantasy some kind of “haha, look at the harm I can do with these downloaded programs! That’ll teach them to change the cooldown on the Bear pet’s Bottom Burp ability from 8 to 9 seconds when it’s clearly going to destroy the entire game!” thing.
In other words, the purpose is to cause trouble. The reason, the motive why they do so, is unknown.

They have this post in the support forum.
We’re aware of the issue and are looking into it.
I’ll update here as I get them.Temp Workaround:

didn’t work.
Oh well. Next post
For those able to get in with the workaround, great. For those that are still unable to get in, we are actively troubleshooting the issue. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Some people like understated, plain items. Immersion is important to others. I’ve seen complaints where people didn’t like that gliders came out of nowhere. A backpiece that’s a casing for the glider might be just what they’re looking for.
It’s supposed to be wingless. Its just the casing that the wings come out of.
You should take a look at the guild wars costumes. Most of those weren’t “practical” either. When they discussed outfits for this game they said they would be highly stylized.
I use them for my weekly key run and if I get a wardrobe unlock that potentially several hundred gold worth of cosmetics (now that I’ve unlocked most of the cheap items).
The tomes might not be “fun” to get but they’re useful.
3 soft wood planks
5 Silver ingots
10 Fine Essence of Luck
10 additional item such as Barbed Thorn, Airship Oil, Milling Stone, etc.
For something like the recipe above I’d think they’d be much more likely to make it a Mystic Forge recipe than to revamp jeweler. Especially since I don’t see any real connection between making rings, amulets, backpieces, earrings and making a harvesting tool.
I’ll vote for more skimpy male armor and skimpy male outfits
(especially Faren’s loincloth) ^^
I don’t vote for disengaging from the forums on grounds that “they don’t listen.” There’s been a number of forum suggestions that have made their way into the game (the wardrobe was a big one). You have to be putting in suggestions for what you want to be even considered, but many people imo think their suggestion requires only the proverbial ‘flip of a switch’, and in addition don’t realize the vast number of suggestions that stream in that need to be evaluated for how easy/cheap to put in and the number of people who want it.
As to skimpy male armor, who knows, maybe there’s a reason. In spite of people asking for it it might not be actually wanted in game and maybe ANet has the metrics to see this by seeing which armor pieces that do show skin are used in game. All we who want it can do is ask.
I like it. I like the categories and the ability to see what’s in a bundle. The buttons to push are still small but overall it’s a better design.
They could name it to refer to both the desert and dragon. For that I suggest the name Sandy Claws.

And now, back to our regular scheduled program, the name of the next expansion. I think this will be the ‘coolest’ expansion ever, so I suggest the name
Guild Wars 2:
Hey. No one said the name can’t be an emoticon.
I like that, gotta be a smooth title that many generations can relate to
But with what little effort in Paint I drew up a concept art for the expansion’s box:
Please leave me some feedback, I’m still learning Paint.
But giving the matter more thought, for an expansion with the name your picture would be a good front cover artwork and mine can be the side art which illustrates the childish excitement of getting our first mount.

Hmmmm. I can draw a mean stick figure that beats that picture all hollow. I don’t wish to boast but in pre k my drawings were voted “most likely to improve” (or maybe it was “the picture most in need of improvement”)
But anyway, to help ANet out in the graphics department here is a drawing of a mount that can be used on the advertisement to generate excitement.

iirc, if you look around the area there’s a yellow guild interact site
I’ve been there when guilds start one early. They normally announce it ahead of time though and give enough time in between that people can switch to an alt and get the second, normal time event if they want.
^
That’s true.
It used to be a one to one thing. Do good in WvW and get a good bonus. Now because of linking, servers that don’t themselves do good but which are tied to high performing servers get the benefit of that while those that are tied to low or medium performing servers don’t. If the benefit is more through linking then it’s random if the low performing server will get a good bonus or not. Which means it’s not really fair to the individual PvE players as their bonus isn’t truly reflective of WvW effort but is more random so that one person gets one bonus, you get a different bonus and the person next to you gets another, but neither does anything in WvW and it’s tied to linking on top of that.
Now it’s fair. All PvE players get the same amount when they harvest. No different bonuses due to random luck from linking and WvW progress.

To me it’s not that unexpected that they removed the buff. It was put in back when PvE and WvW were closely tied together and WvW players could go to their PvE server to recruit help when they were losing. It was a reward to the PvE server for its members going to WvW to play. It’s more of a loose association now between the two and imo unless ANet decides it’s needed to keep supply up and prices down it’s not coming back.
The Level 80 boost comes with the Celebratory Dye pack. I found this wiki site to be very useful in making a decision. It gives the names of the dyes you can choose from that pack and the current prices. That way you can preview the dyes that it has from your dye wardrobe to get the best dye for you before opening up the dye package.
Celebratory dye pack wiki site
Personally I have found the enameled dyes to be best overall for depth and richness and the electro dyes for when you want intense bright colors.

While it would be nice it’s unfortunately not likely to happen. Here’s the time it was discussed by an ANet dev so you can see what they had to say about it.

I can’t give you specifics or anything (they’d be very tedious to compute even if I still had access to the code), but GW2’s codebase is very much an evolution of the codebase used for GW1. We did not start over, or anything crazy, but nor did we use the GW1 code unchanged.Huge chunks of gameplay code were added, removed, or refactored so heavily as to be effectively-new (even things you might think would be the same, like inventory). The core rendering and networking capabilities had some significant reworking to support new features, but a lot of the fundamentals remained the same. The very low-level stuff, such as the classes we use to manage collections of data, do math, sort things… those didn’t change much and some files might even be identical to the ones in GW1, except maybe for some copyright or header date changes.
Essentially if you view the code as a vertical stack of functionality, with very-game-specific gameplay code at the top and generic data structure/algorithm stuff at the bottom, the closer something is to the top the more likely it experienced significant tweaking at some point during GW2’s development.
To address the specific topic of this thread (dying stuff)… what I recall (so I might be wrong) is that the decision to dye armor but not weapons was a design one (in the sense we chose to do it, not that there were insurmountable technical issues), and made pretty early. We wanted a much richer dye system for GW2 than we had in GW1. This would require some changes to the way that the source art was authored, which increased the complexity (and thus time) of doing so. That additional complexity pays off best for armor, which is more visible on-screen than weapons generally are, and so (I think) it was decided that we wouldn’t bother authoring dye support into the weapon art. Eventually this decision would have led to code changes or optimization relying on that assumption, and we arrive at where we are today.
As with all things, it could be made possible to dye weapons with sufficient code and art resources sunk into it. But it would be a nontrivial undertaking (and probably a non-trivial patch download!) to re-author all the existing source art with appropriate metadata for dye channels.
(Please keep in mind that all of this is from memory from a long time ago, so I may be forgetting/misremembering/et cetera some things.)
If you have any chars with 3rd or 4th year birthdays coming up you’ll get 5 from each for each char. If the pattern stays the same the 5th year will also have 5. That’s where I’ve gotten the majority of my TP2F.
Is map completion no more
Is the highest level char he has under level 14? I’m pretty sure that’s when that starts showing on the big map.
why is almost every server full now

WELCOME JASON!!! \o/
PARTY TIIIIIMMMME!
Tell ANet to throw a Quaggan party in honor of Jason!!
For this party we should expect new events, many new AP points, a new jp, free overpowered food and new minis, and it repeats each year.
It’s weird that Asura even HAVE hair. They evolved as a subterranean race, and subterranean races generally do not need hair as insulation because a) geothermal heat keeps the underground warm to hot, and b) without inclement weather, there’s no rain or snow to pose a potential threat to body temperature.
What? Moles. Voles. Gophers. Prairie Dogs. Woodchucks. Asura are not lizards or bugs, they are mammals as stated by a developer, and nearly all subterranean mammals have hair.
Asura don’t just live slightly underground like all the mammals you quoted though. They lived DEEEEEEP underground. Like, so far underground that entire generations of Asura never saw the sun. In evolutionary terms, that’s like comparing a fish that lives in a river to one that’s lived in deep underwater caves that’s completely lost its eyes because it had no need for them.
Loss of a feature typically takes thousands of years to hundreds of thousands of years and there needs to be evolutionary pressure to lose it, or no pressure to keep it. I doubt that length of time was met, or the pressure to lose it. Since Asura have elaborate hairstyles that says they value hair and find it sexy (even if they don’t say it out loud).
A new one use item: like a bank access but it allows you to access the inventory of one of your other chars. Could open up a party type window with all your chars listed as party members and you choose the char to open up its inventory.
Djinn.9245 ; and i don’t say we can’t have an other way than money , i know we can use time or gold , but its just to much time or gold asked ;
again and again , a single item should not cost 1800 hours of work.
Ok. Think about what would happen if the permanent items were easy to get
1) you’d get it fast, ok, now you’re happy but then
2) you get another. You put it on the trading post.
But everyone is also putting their extras on the trading post. The price is falling like a rock. 3) next, you get the one use item from a chest. Now it’s worthless
So, if they were easy to get the price on the trading post would be cheap and all who wants one would have one. ANet would lose sales of the one use items in the gemstore (loss of income) and the one use items in the chest would be worthless (loss of income to ANet, since now the one use items that are worthless to many people and people buy fewer keys because the chests have less of value).
The result of easy to get permanent items is loss of income to ANet from loss of direct sales on one use items and fewer keys. That’s why the permanent items have an extremely low drop rate.
a mmo don’t include gambling ( if you mean game of money ).
And you don’t unerstand an item in a VIDEO GAME should not ask you thousand $.
you feel its right to fix a droprate who put a value on an item out of thousand $ in a video game ?
Do you do it on purpose or just refuse to understand the absurdity of the thing?an item in a video game should not cost 1000$
in reality an item should never cost more than the game himself. because its not fair for player who buy the game who can’t acces to all item from the game they have buy ! simple ? not ?
You realize they sell the non permanent items in the gemstore right? The hair style, bank access, merchants. They want to sell them or have the items be worth something as a Black Lion drop. If they had the permanent items with a high drop rate so that people could either get them from a chest or pick them up cheap on the trading post for a few gold then not only will those people not buy the non permanent items any more from the gemstore but when they get the non permanent items in the Black Lion chest then they are worthless drops. Which means that the Black Lion chest contents have less value and ANet is no longer selling the non permanent items directly, resulting in loss of income to ANet.

Haste: excessive speed or urgency of movement or action; hurry.
“working with feverish haste”
synonyms: speed, hastiness, hurriedness, swiftness, rapidity, quickness, briskness
They’re synonyms (noun. 1. a word having the same or nearly the same meaning as another in the language,) so I’m personally not going to worry about it.
I hit the cap some months back. I don’t like it myself. I used to keep an eye on AP and do extra and now I don’t bother. If I get AP I do, if I don’t I don’t.

The moment you deny set theory, you are denying the relation logic, in other words, you are denying logic in itself. There is nothing to talk about with you any more. Good luck.@Just a flesh wound.3589
There is nothing to quote or elaborate, because over and over again you keep saying new guilds will benefit under the increase limits. By benefiting you also imply it has no pressure. Afterall, if there is pressure, it cancel out the benefit or even completely overrun the benefit.Assumption is what you too been doing isn’t it? You are assuming it doesn’t, I am assuming it does. We are both making assumptions, different side of assumptions. However, mine is a assumption that use “potentially up to”. Your assumption is base on absolute. Mine is using logic to back it all up while your’s is personal preferences, sophistry and baseless faith on people that majority will use like how you will.
you keep saying new guilds will benefit under the increase limits.
For the second time, I don’t think I’ve ever said that. Please find the quote where I did.

“Same as today. /shrug. New guilds already have a hard time getting started. Having a larger pool of available members through more guild slots will make it easier, not harder, for players to give them a chance.”
Ok. Once I said that having a larger pool of people to choose from is good. I stand by that. You keep bringing it up so I guess you disagree and you think it’s bad to have more choices. (But I already knew that from this conversation).
We’ll have to agree to disagree whether having more people to choose from is good or bad. You think it’s bad. I think it’s good. That’s your opinion. ^^

@Just a flesh wound.3589
I am not twisting your words because you are twisting mine, a lot of times. You admit many times you one person cannot be at two activities at the same time yet you refuse to admit that the activities of the guild will be drop. Why?I already explained using set theory guilds are already potentially competing up to 4 other guilds currently every seconds, every minutes, every hours. Arnox.5128 already highlighted the activities level. Still, you insist that increasing the limit will benefit new guilds, you insist that new guilds will not have pressures, all without sustainable logic behinds it. All you repeatedly saying is that more guild slots, more people for guilds but you never ever once address the issue of one guild having to compete with 9 other guilds (if 10 is the new limit). All you think about recruitment, surely it is one of the issues but there are other interrelated issues that all add up to a increased workload. I thought I already explained about that, was that not clear?
It is a win-lose situation no matter how I look at it.
You admit many times you one person cannot be at two activities at the same time
Yep, that’s very true. You can only do one activity at a time. I admit that. (Thats also true if you are a member of only one guild. If being in only one guild lets you do more than one activity at the same time let us know, because I always thought it was physically impossible.) ^^
You know, from reading your posts, especially this part, Surely, one cannot participate in fractal concurrently in 5 different guilds, likewise impossible to partake in both raid or wvw runs concurrently in two different guilds I think you don’t understand at all why most people choose multiple guilds. Many players choose between different specialty guilds. For example, someone might have a WvW guild and a role play guild and a general guild and a PvP guild and a friend’s only chat guild with members they met in various games. They might roleplay on guild A then go off and do WvW on guild B then later do sPvP on guild C while chatting off and on during the day with guild D. They certainly don’t have multiple guilds all asking at once for WvW players or raid members. Many choose guilds to have a specialized choice of activities, not the same activity over and over on multiple guilds.
You would know that if you were a member of multiple guilds at once
Edits: . Still, you insist that increasing the limit will benefit new guilds, you insist that new guilds will not have pressures, all without sustainable logic behinds it.
I don’t recall saying this. Perhaps you could quote me on it?
new guilds made for that prime time has to compete with what? Potentially 9 other guilds? Likewise, existing guilds too has to compete against potential 9 others
Your argument is flawed. It assumes more new guilds would be made because of new guild slots. However, guild slots are not the limiting factor. People who want to be guild leaders are the limiting factor. Not everyone wants to be a guild leader. Not everyone, or even very many, want to make a new guild. I expect the same number of guilds to be made per any time period and they will flourish or die in similar numbers as now. The difference will be that more new specialty guilds will survive as there will be a greater number of people who can join them.
I have know of people that join 5 raid guilds, 5 pve guilds etc. Simply because it is easier for them to look for raids, easier for them to look for fractal, basically a glorified lfg.
Undoubtedly a minority of people do this, but that’s between them and their guild. If their guilds are happy, it’s no concern of ours. If their guilds are not happy then they should take steps the way guilds currently do when they aren’t happy with a member. And that, again, is between the member and the guild to work out.

@Illconceived Was Na.9781
You are misunderstanding something. It will affect my guild surely, but the effect is insignificant thus it is neglect-able. On the other hand, it will affect start up hugely.
Throughout my wall of texts, I already repeated numerous times it will not benefit the new guilds like what both of you claim it will. I even use set theory to elaborate the complex relations between guilds. Unfortunately, all of those means nothing to both of you because both of you are just so fixated that it will benefit the new guilds even when another person step in to emphasis that activities of the guilds will be affected.
Likewise, Just a flesh wound.3589 continues to use sophistry for his argument. Now he cite “social” guild aka chat room elsewhere his previous post includes actual activities like fractal. Surely, one cannot participate in fractal concurrently in 5 different guilds, likewise impossible to partake in both raid or wvw runs concurrently in two different guilds. Too much sophistry, a waste of time.
2) Ummmmm. A social club for activities and a club used for “chatting” can be the same thing. It’s possible to combine the two, you know. For example, a chess club where you play chess and talk also about chess (and other topics) is an example of a club used to both socialize and do stuff. Likewise you can be chatting with your guilds and then do activities with the members. It’s certainly not one or the other. ^^
Surely, one cannot participate in fractal concurrently in 5 different guilds, likewise impossible to partake in both raid or wvw runs concurrently in two different guilds.
2) if you’re a member of one guild and there’s more than one activity going on, it’s impossible to do any of those guild activities concurrently. However you can do one activity and then another, even if it’s two or more guilds. Even if it’s WvW or raids. So that’s either an irrelevant comment or the comment of someone who doesn’t realize that it’s possible to do activities in sequence.
Hint, you’re using sophistry to twist what I said. (tsk, tsk).
Edit: in addition people usually choose guilds with different focuses (for example) a general guild, a raid guild, a WvW guild, a roleplaying guild, a friends only guild, etc etc as their choices. There may be little or no overlap in what the different guilds do. Their WvW guild doesn’t roleplay and their roleplay guild doesn’t raid, so they don’t conflict in the way you’re thinking.

I would like long hair on Asura but only if this long, flowing, luxurious set of locks is an option.
