I didn’t vote because I knew what the outcome would be as soon as I saw cheaper wapoints vs. cheaper Black Lion Keys. Also I didn’t want to do the events tied to the meta. So it worked in my favor. I can see where it is a bummer for those that did though. I can see letting people sell the supports in the event they had some left over after the event but the reps should have been sellable as well I suppose. I’m not sure but do the rep tokens give you a temporary buff when you use them? If so that might be why.

Just kidding, happy birthday!

Guys you do realise that we will be swarmed with hundreds of false guilds by now ? Way to welcome new players, that want to join a guild.

Rep personal bank guild, deposit, stop repping, rep active guild, no problem. Tons of players already have personal guilds for banking.

There are these items us old folks used to use that might come in handy, notepad and pen. This new system is a great way for people to learn money management and budgeting if they do indeed have spending issues as suggested. I like the new system and I have 10 alts. I went the new high tech way and opted to make a spread sheet.

It’s also good for general extra storage.

I’ve already seen a large guild with that tag when I was on Henge of Denravi server. Seems they have been around a while without problems. However, I’m not sure why anyone would want to use SS anyway given its historical background. That’s just me though.

So SS is demonized because of a historical event. That is so dumb. grow up, screw the past, evolve.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that if I thought it might offend someone I probably would not use it. As evolved as you think you are that does not change the fact that many people see those letters as a reference to The Holocaust.

Heck, I want a Gaile mini. But only if it would keep up with my characters unlike the other ones that are half a map away when I turn around. Also the mini would have a special skill that deleted old game mails so when I buy something from the Gem store I would get it right away.

Ok. Now, I think, I understand your kind. You dont like video games in general. At some point video games given you a trauma, that u now have to live with. (For a dignity reasons u can call it a lesson). But now im wondering. Why u still playing games? Especially online games.

About chess – I would have argued, but this is pointless. Truth said. In chess meta all go down to remembering all pro combinations and ability to read the patterns. When I understood this – I just given up on em. To boring

There you go projecting some false beliefs again just because many people do not find anything admirable about video game accomplishments. I do enjoy video games and I have played them off and on my whole life. No trauma, but I did look back at one point when I was spending a lot of time playing and kind of shook my head when I realized the other stuff in life I missed out on to play a video game.

I play games, off and on, and maybe 6-8 hours a week for fun. I don’t play them to impress anyone and I don’t play them to impress myself. Why? Because there is nothing impressive about it but it is a form of entertainment. I play for fun, that’s it. That is the intrinsic value of a game.

Your entire counter to everyone who has not agreed with you is some pseudo psychological assessment.

“Nothing great about doing something in a video game.”
“Yeah well you just feel threatened.”
“Nope they just don’t impress me.”
“Well you are just envious.”
“No really I don’t find anything in video games impressive.”
“Then you must be traumatized by video games.”

Go play Pve/WvW/PvP and when the book of your GW2 glory comes out I’ll be the first one to buy it. Hell, I’ll buy 10. This is getting no where.

So. Why mastering chess is on a whole different level? Im not so bad in chess myself. I would say, that pvp in video games, sometimes, is way harder, than chess.

Chess is a game of such complexity that dwarfs PvP. To be great at chess takes much, much more than being great playing GW2. Go play 1,000 hours of chess and see where that gets you. Let me know if you win a championship. I will truly be impressed.

I really don’t like going here because I know it touches a nerve with many, but being good at video games has almost no real world value. I’ll give you problem solving, hand eye coordination, some dedication, but that is about it. Now many have strong characteristics in real life and are good at video games but being good at a video game doesn’t necessarily translate to anything in real life.

I started playing video games in the 80’s as a kid. I was really good at them and I thought it was cool to go to the arcade and get top score with my initials. Thing is though, no one cared but me. At one point I spent a lot of free time playing those games. My dad called me a “vidiot”. He was right.

I’m sorry but I think you are confusing people not wanting to be impressed by video games with people simply not finding accomplishments in a video game truly impressive. There could be one item unique to Tyria, one of a kind, available to only one player that takes tons of playing time or what ever to get and if I saw someone with it I would think “He must really like this game to play so much to get it. I bet he is glad he got it. Good for him.” However, I would most certainly not be impressed. Even if I had it I would not be impressed with myself. I wouldn’t call my buddies up and say, “Hey let’s go have some beers I want to celebrate and tell you all what I just did today.”

So… then tell me. What would impress you? Some specific example from your life. R u not impressed by any games in general? Like u wouldn’t care, if some people win football championship? Or u wouldn’t care about man, who finally managed to buy his own house. Where is a line, where u start getting impressed?

Well real world accomplishments would be a very great place to start. The football player that dedicated a significant part of his life training his body and mind to become a great football player, yep. The person that worked two jobs, saved their money to buy a house while supporting their family, yes.

  • The student that put themselves through college while working, yes.
  • The guy next door to me that jogs every day at the same time no matter what the weather, yes.
  • A person who is not overly concerned about what others think of them, yes. That’s rare these days.
  • My father who retired and took a second job the next day even though he doesn’t need the money, yes.
  • My mailman who is always, always friendly to me even when he is covered in snow and dirt during the holiday season, yes.
  • The woodworker who spent years mastering his craft. Thank you, I love my coffee table.
  • Busy people that spend a significant portion of their free time volunteering, yes.
  • It is a sad state these days but even when I see a couple teenagers fishing in my lake without using cell phones and texting the whole time, yes I’m impressed.

I could go on and on if you want.

  • The person that spends countless hours clicking keys in a game and gets some pixels for it, no.

Dailies - the bane of modern games

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: JustTrogdor.7892

Dailies were introduced as an alternative to Fractals to acquire certain gear. WvW was also updated this way. So, if you can’t do dailies but you have several hours on the weekend, then go WvW or do Fractals, and acquire the tokens for that gear that way. There are at least three methods of acquiring Ascended gear and two of them are set up to reward longer playtimes in one shot, while one is set up to reward shorter playtimes through the week.

Oh great! So now you are telling me I have to change occupations and get a new job???

In video games, people dont like to be impressed. Its their game and they want to be heroes themselves. “Not someone else! Me!”

I’m sorry but I think you are confusing people not wanting to be impressed by video games with people simply not finding accomplishments in a video game truly impressive. Maybe, just maybe people do not find video game accomplishments as impressive as you think they should or as impressive as you think they are. Now you are trying to dress those people up in some kind “insecurity/envy” robe because they don’t see video game accomplishments the same way you do. I hope that is the case. I hope it isn’t because you have your legendary, read this thread, saw that most people don’t care about them and now you feel let down.

People dont like to be impressed by others.

What??? I truly appreciate it when someone impresses me and I would imagine most people do. Someone or a group of people accomplishing something impressive does not always breed envy. The world is a better place in my eyes when I see someone do something impressive or accomplish something that impresses me. I will be honest though, nothing anyone does in any video game ever will impress me. I’ve been playing video games for 30+ years so I don’t think that will ever change. To be fair though, what impresses one person doesn’t always impress someone else.

U do realise, that, in the end, u just proved what I said?

Impressed is just wrong word to ask the question. It puts person own ego to low. So not many people would accept it.

No I didn’t. I said that I appreciate when people impress me. I then said that nothing anyone does in a video game will impress me. How does not being impressed by video games equal me not appreciating when someone does something I do find impressive? There is a whole world out there outside of Tyria where people do very impressive things every day and when I see them I appreciate it.

I’m trying to enjoy my Necromancer right now but I’m not and that is probably my fault. Before playing the Necromancer I was playing my Mesmer and I’m having a hard time figuring out the best way to play necro. I get frustrated trying to do this, die a lot and so at this time it isn’t very fun.

I enjoy playing my Ranger because I am 100% open world roaming and the style suits me.

Dailies - the bane of modern games

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/job

1. a piece of work, especially a specific task done as part of the routine of one’s occupation or for an agreed price: She gave him the job of mowing the lawn.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/occupation

2. any activity in which a person is engaged.

  • a piece of work, especially a specific task :
Kill this, do that, go here so many times (specific tasks) Check!
  • done as part of the routine of one’s occupation :
Once a day(routine) playing GW2/activity I’m engaged in (occupation) Check!
  • for an agreed price :
Laurel, exp and some silver (price) Check!

You’re right, not even close to the definition of a job. /sarcasm

It’s a job, you just happen to love your job. I’m happy for you. Some days I love doing dailies too! Those days it doesn’t feel like a job. Too bad it’s not that way for everyone, everyday.

I think you are stretching those definitions just a little bit to say the least. What do you normally say if someone asks you what your occupation is? If someone asked me that and I said GW2 they would probably ask me how it pays. Then I would have to say mystic coins, laurels, and karma. At that point they would think I was nuts.

If my girlfriend called me and asked me what I was doing and I said I was busy with this job she would ask me what I was working on. If I said, “I’m just working on my dailies in GW2 so I can get this ring I want,” she would quickly respond, “The only thing you should be working on is getting the ring you are going to put on my finger.” Or she would just break up with me.

You are taking those definitions, snipping parts from them and twisting them from the most common usage of those words to try and supplement your argument.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/occupation
You specifically did not include the primary definition of occupation, the first one, to try and strengthen your argument.

1. a person’s usual or principal work or business, especially as a means of earning a living; vocation:

The definition of job you posted in context is most applicable to the definition I posted above.

But for job you did not include the secondary definition to also try to strengthen your argument:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/job

2. a post of employment; full-time or part-time position: She was seeking a job as an editor.

Since you like to copy and paste from Internet sources don’t forget about wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupation

Job (role), a regular activity performed for payment, that occupies one’s time
Employment, a person under service of another by hire
Career, a course through life
Profession, a vocation founded upon specialized training
Vocation, an occupation to which a person is specially drawn
A category in the Standard Occupational Classification System

Account wallet: Gold sharing compulsory?

It doesn’t bother me, actually it will be more convenient for me. I tend to pool all my coin from my alts into the bank anyway. This way when playing an alt and I need a few more coin for something I don’t have to logout, log back in with a different alt, go to the bank, deposit the coins, logout and then back in with the other character to get the coins. Now it will be done for me.

I can understand how for some tracking the amount of money each character earns adds to the game play though. I suppose you could keep a spread sheet and only allocate funds to the character that earned them. I’m kidding. :P

Dailies - the bane of modern games

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: JustTrogdor.7892

JustTrogdor.7892

That is not the issue. Of course if someone realizes that GW2 is taking control over his life, the conclusion of reevalution can only be one. He needs to quit playing GW2. But is this the answer? Should games be designed in a way that they are pushing some people into that reevaluation? And to regain their sanity those people must quit playing this game? By same standard you could say that cigarettes are 100% fine and the only problem is that some people are willing to smoke them. Sure, some people may support such viewpoint but I for one strongly disagree with it.

If people feel like video games are affecting their mental health, then yes they should indeed quit playing video games, not just GW2 but all of them. I can understand that dailies can influence people to spend more time in a game. If a person is so wrapped up in it because they feel the need to acquire items as soon as possible then I would suggest that taking a break is a good idea.

I have nothing against people that want to play everyday. It is the idea that they are feeling forced to do so to acquire a certain item faster that I think is the issue. If it is impacting someone to the point is seeps into their quality of life it isn’t the game, it is the priorities of the person playing. In this situation I would even question if changing certain aspects of the game, including eliminating dailies, would really change how the game is affecting them. I think at that point the issue is bigger than that.

I miss dailies all the time and I certainly don’t feel forced to do them. Sometimes I’ll have 4 out of 5 done from normal game play and don’t bother to do the last one because I don’t feel like playing anymore that day. I don’t feel like missing out on a few laurels is going to destroy my game play. I log out come back in a few days and my characters are still there with all their stuff and I go about my business playing as usual.

Maybe I’m odd but I never feel forced to play a video game. If I start feeling that way at some point I’ll probably reevaluate what I’m doing with my expendable time.

[Legendary] Reputation Discusion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: JustTrogdor.7892

JustTrogdor.7892

I gathered from there that right now the reputation for owning one is terrible for the most part, even if you did craft it.

I don’t think that was the tone of the thread at all. I think most people were just indifferent. It is one of those items where you see a player with one and think, “Okay, hope they like it,” and not , “Holly cow that’s amazing and blows my mind!”

I don’t care how a player got it, aside from scamming, and if they are glad they have it then I’m happy for them. I do think that some legendary owners seemed disappointed that there were not many people in the thread talking about how awesome legendaries are.

Anyway, in that thread it was more of a “I don’t really care either way,” than “People legendarys are a bunch of idiots I can’t stand.”

As knives said it is like a lot of this game, people want it to sell faster so they collect their coin faster because they don’t want to wait. I like that though because I do a small amount of TP trading and people selling on the cheap just to cash in faster helps me a lot.

I saw the person a bit later and asked why they were not using them and they laughed and said they sold them. HAHA.

Sure they’re on the TP for ~3g but I can’t afford that. And as soon as the bazaar is over and scraps no longer available, the price will go up quite a bit.

Run about 25-30 Sanctum Sprints. You don’t even need to worry about getting first as the payoff isn’t that much more. Between the coin from each race, selling the loot, and possible drops of catcher back pieces you should have more than 3g easy in much, much less than 18 hours. Then you can buy your rose.

I got mine from fortune scraps from my regular PvE when they first came out. I’m kind of disappointed they are for sale on the TP now but oh well. It works well with the appearance of my character so I’ll live.

It would probably just end up non-stop troll, oak, boar, wasp wash and repeat zerg fest.

You all realize the cheaper waypoints is for 4 weeks, right? It’s not a permanent discount.

The BL keys are on sale for 4 weeks, but at least they don’t evaporate afterwards if you opt to stock up a little.

Yes but the problem is to take advantage of Evon’s “perk” you have to buy something. This will turn a lot of people off especially considering what you are buying is RNG. With the waypoint discount you benefit by saving money on something you already use. I imagine that there are many people ambivalent about the fractals and if a portion of those people don’t want to or can’t buy keys then Evon probably lost their vote.

Personally I hope Evon wins because I do buy keys and I make money for waypoints fairly easily. I’m one of those that are ambivalent toward the fractals.

My death count usually outnumbers hours played per character.

Hi, first of all you should never submit more than one ticket for the same problem. Submitting multiple tickets slows down the support process in regards to your original ticket. Support responses can take up to 72 hours (3 days) and your tickets are only one day old. If you do not receive a response within the 72 hour time frame you should make a post in this thread and be sure to include your ticket number:

What I find hilarious is people thinking that voting against Evon will do ANYTHING about RNG boxes. Get over yourselves. I’ve never seen such over-inflation of impact that people seem to think they have.

I don’t think anyone said it would do anything about RNG boxes. Several have stated that his campaign offering discounts on BLKs does not help him much. People see buy keys with RWM/gold to open BLCs with no idea what you are going to get as not much of a benefit as opposed to cheaper waypoints which save you money. I imagine many people who don’t buy keys anyway don’t see past this and cast their vote for the other candidate. Again, I don’t think anyone said voting against Evon would eliminate BLCs.
