It’s for travel to the rated R area of Tyria.
You know it isn’t a tough fight when you can salvage junk in your inventory, check what you sold on the TP, and people are having conversations in /say about what they had for breakfast.
I agree I thought it was great. When I read about it I thought, “Oh crud I hate jump puzzles I’m not going to mess with it.” Once I started doing it and when I got used to how to use the different aspects I found it quite fun. I also enjoyed the scenery and since I got the achievement done I’ve taken some time to find other places to use the aspects and see what I can find. If you really want to see yourself standing in some interesting places hit the jump aspect and at max height hit dash. I found myself in some odd places and sometimes others would see me and ask how in the heck I ended up where I was. Most of the time I would just say I don’t know.
I didn’t do 100% achievements because I opted out of several of the other kites in traditional jump puzzles. I ended up getting really good at Sanctum Sprint so I still have fun with that a few times a day for some extra coin and the occasional loot bag. Plus I have gotten 9 catcher back pieces from the races.
I’ve only been playing for 3 months but this was my favorite update so far. The politics one I’m not going to do much with because of the mini game aspect of it. The sprint was fun but I don’t care for mini games that are more PvP based than that. I’m not complaining though as I have plenty of other stuff to do. That’s the good thing about this game.
There is no mules in Tyria.
My poor Necro mule… It’s bad enough I shelved him after L20. Now he has to carry all that stuff in his bags and people want to claim he doesn’t exist. No wonder he has self-esteem issues.
I had taken about a 6 year break from games. Now that I have more expendable time I just started looking at reviews. From what I read GW2 seemed to fit my preferred playing style and I was impressed with the graphics. Once I saw that they also offered a Mac client and the cost was relatively cheap I decided why not. As a very casual player this game seems to suit me well. I enjoy knowing that if I don’t move my mouse curser over the GW2 icon for several days it isn’t a big deal. I have just over 300 hours played and I’d say even if I hung it up for good as far as entertainment value goes I got my moneys worth.
Can I get the message board from sending me PMs every time a post I replied to gets moved or deleted?
Really I just wanted to front page this for you again.
Does anyone ever rate someone below a 7/10 in these threads?
It would be more fun if it was rate the person below you. Adding a predictive factor makes it more challenging.
I read the thread title and thought this was going to be about a new movie coming out.
When I first got my Slyvari to a level to get and elite skill I chose Summon Sylvan Hound. Then I found out it was like slow casting a low damage projectile. Summon, it stands there for about 5 seconds until it realizes it has something to do, runs into battle, attacks once, gets hit twice and it’s dead.
Try copy and pasting the links it didn’t work for me when I clicked them but copy and paste works.
If you have the pictures saved to your computer you can just attach them to your post. If you don’t see the choose file option when you post select advanced options and you should see it.
Really fishing? Wth man.. umm lemme try and post again.
It looks like you just linked to Photobucket as they are just new recent pictures when your links are followed. No need to re-post you can edit your original post.
Umm… Your links go to pictures of fishing and stuff. Did you mean to post other pictures or were you just sharing?
they ripoff everyone with fine stones which you HAVE to buy no matter what, there’s no other option
Yea, nonsense. I have never bought these and had up to 9 in my bank. I must have received them either from story or daily missions. They are very rare for sure, but you do get them.
then you must one of those people who don’t care about ‘style’ and wear same armor since game was launched. There’s no way in 11 months you couldn’t be in need of fine stones if you mix match armors for your characters
Mattargul’s response was to your false statement.
… you HAVE to buy no matter what, there’s no other option
I don’t mind it. Sometimes I carry a couple and if I need to free up a few bag slots I can send them to my bank without having to go there. It would be nice if they didn’t have to be reactivated when changing maps but I don’t mind it too much. I’m usually not dragging around a mini when I’m out roaming around on my own anyway. I typically use them in cities.
Now what I would like is if they kept up with my characters. If I’m moving any bit of distance I turn around and they are half a map away.
I like most of the hearts as long as they involve more than running around looking for things to stomp and running in circles looking for things to pick up and give to an NPC. The ones that involve more action I like.
My 2009 got that way in the upper left corner when I ran GW2 as well. It never seemed to be an issue though.
There is a free program for the dashboard called iStat Pro. It will tell you temps, fan speeds and all sorts of useful stuff. I think you have to get it from Cnet these days. I use it on all 3 of my Macs and find it useful. I have not had any problems with it.
http://download.cnet.com/iStat-pro/3000-12565_4-71074.html
If you decide to use it you will find it in your dashboard. You can set it to show Celsius or Farenheit.
Just to give you an idea I’m running GW2 on my iMac now and everything is below 50 Celsius aside from the GPU which is 65. But I think the 2012s run cooler.
This is what happens when you add a prize to the achievements. Because the prize is available people want it right away. They feel they can’t wait. I’ve seen it with achievement titles as well. Someone mails someone else a bunch of gold so they can get the “Golden” title. Look at the “Combat Healer” title. Do you think most people with that title went out of their was rez 1000 other players? It is more likely they farmed downed NPCs.
Now there are chests with shineys tied to it and people “have” to have it right now.
So you are saying that resing NPC’s shouldn’t count? What about the players who boosted this title by having their friends suicide over and over simply because it was a lot faster than finding Npc’s to res?
In my opinion NPCs should not count. It would give the achievement much more merit. Dead NPCs are all over the place and rezing 1000 of them while playing normally in my opinion is not a major achievement. If someone want’s to jump off a ledge 1000 times so their friend can get the title so be it. I don’t really see that happening that much though as it would be rather time consuming. It’s too late though as changing the achievement would not work now that it is already in place.
I get it from time to time and the only way I can get rid of it is exiting the game. If I log out to character select the squares that show my characters will flash too. I’ve tried using the skill that is flashing but usually it is more than one and sometimes it won’t turn it off. It happens rarely so it doesn’t bother me so much.
Well jeez, so much for being positive.
Unfortunately complaining trumps anything else on this forum. I was going to respond earlier but figured I’d probably get some flack but what the heck. I am 100% open world PvE.
My favorite is Ranger. There I said it. I prefer lb/a/a for weapon choices. I think they provide a good balance in the open world environment. Also I try to use my pet as more of a skill/weapon as you will. I don’t just throw it out there and hope for the best. The travel speed is also a major plus for me during roaming. I like tactical staying at range as opposed to in your face combat. She just hit 80 today and is my first L80.
My second favorite at the moment (I’m and alt-aholic) is Mesmer. I like the flexibility and different ways it can be played. I enjoy using my clones and phantasms as I would my Ranger pet. I don’t just spam them all over the place but try to choose the best time and most appropriate target for them. I tried to roll my Mesmer without the greatsword as I hate the sound it makes but gave in as I felt it was too much of a disadvantage. So now gs/s/p
Least favorite:
- Warrior – boring
- Guardian – boring
- Necromancer – I don’t like minions.

Here you go. Have fun.

This is an obvious troll post. The OPs last post in a thread prior to this was 5 months ago and their English was much, much better.
I have characters in all races but Azura. For me it is a visual thing. I can’t stand the way Azura run so I don’t want to sit there and watch it all day as I play.
I have one Norn thief that I made as big and fat as possible because I thought a big fat thief flying around all over would look funny. A few jumping puzzles and several levels later I ended up getting a total makeover kit and shrunk him down as small as possible. Also with Norn they appear to be moving so slow even though they are not but the visuals make it seem that way. Big fat Norn Mesmer bad idea. That one got scrapped by level 10.
I have a Sylvari ranger because I felt the looks of the Sylvari fit the profession. Aesthetically I have created a great mix and match armor scheme that I feel looks great for the race and profession. It is my favorite character and as of today my first L80.
I have a Charr Mesmer that I selected be cause I thought Charr clones would look pretty cool and I like it. For some reason it took me some time to get used to jumping with it and I think that was due to running on all fours. I have found some armor that doesn’t clip too bad at least I think so. His name is “Civilized Wurm” I don’t know if many will get that reference.
I stick with humans for everything else even though it is kind of generic. I just feel they have the least issues visually and most armor seems to look better on them than others. The armor and weapons they carry seem to have a good balance of standing out but not being overly massive.
Anyway I’m an alt-aholic and after reading my post I believe it is safe to say I am not dedicated to any one race, aside from I will never play an Azura
Played the game today for about three hours.
Did not use my iMac’s native fullscreen resolution of 2560 × 1440. Instead, I used a windowed mode with 1920 × 1080 and all settings on medium (shadows and reflexions off) – may sound bad, but the graphics look actually very good.
Game runs really smooth, never dropped below 30 FPS (except for 1 or 2 really crowded areas). Definitely runs much better than expected.
Only downside: My iMac really heats up when running the game.
Running on Bootcamp not needed with an iMac Mid 2011
What are your temperatures do you know? In many cases heating up isn’t that much of a problem and is kind of expected when it’s using a lot of resources. My 09 used to get pretty hot but it was within acceptable range. My 2012 doesn’t seem to get as hot but I have never actually checked since I’m not concerned. My Macbook gets some temps around 65 Celsius with fan speeds around 6000 rpm when I have been playing for a bit.
This is actually exactly what I’m saying.
If dueling is in place, you get to use the TP and we get to duel.
As it is, you get to use the TP and we don’t get to duel. There’s really no comparison here.
Okay let’s make it more interesting then. Anyone dueling within a certain distance from a TP, vendor, bank, crafting station etc. is open to attack from any other players in that area. That way people that don’t care can just let you be. If enough people are annoyed by your dueling while they are trying to do something else they can make it go away. Since you feel that dueling in these areas is so insignificant and would not bother most people it shouldn’t be an issue.
As for those of you complaining about effect spam? Your opinion is miniscule. Yup. If you can’t deal with 2 guys throwing things at each other behind whatever panel you’re staring at, you can turn off sound. And if you’re bothered by the visual presence of people casting things, too bad. Your activities won’t disappear. Being slightly annoyed some of the time while doing the activity you enjoy is not worth the complete lack of an activity that others enjoy
Oh I see. So people in PvE should have to limit their enjoyment of the game by turning off the sound so that you can have your fight. People who prefer not to see effects on their screen while at the TP, too bad because you want to have your duel. So basically because you want something and others prefer not to have their game play disrupted by it too bad for them. You are not supporting the argument for open world dueling very much by making statements like, “too bad”.
Fortunately I don’t think open world dueling will ever come to fruition and this will be a non-issue anyway. So if you don’t get it Linnael, guess what, too bad.
There have been some points related to open world dueling that have been brought up and I would like to phrase them as questions for those that want open world dueling. Please try not to get defensive that I ask these questions but think about the behavior of the community as a whole.
- Given the perceived popularity of open world dueling where do you think duels are most likely to take place?
- Where do you think you are most likely to seek out and participate in duels?
- Where would you prefer open world dueling to not take place if any?
- What affect do you think dueling related chat would have on /map? Keeping in mind people looking for duels and people discussing the results of duels.
I ask these questions because they are related to environmental issues as a whole and not necessarily specific to one person that does not want to duel and doesn’t want dueling.

Also, if I had to wait out the ban, will the mark on my account go away. I really hope I won’t have to wait tho, I wanna play! lol
I am almost certain you will have to wait out your ban for the reasons I stated in my first reply to your post. If you do not plan for these things to happen again then you should not have to worry about marks on your account. IMO missing a few days of playing a video game should not be some traumatic event. Perhaps during this time you can think of some non-computer related activities to enjoy with your brother. Look at it like a bonding experience that may make him reconsider before doing something like this to you in the future. Just a thought.
I’m not trying to show a lack of compassion for your situation. I’m simply trying to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
Probably not because there is no way to prove it was your brother or if you are telling the truth. Also unintentional or not allowing someone else to use your account makes you responsible for their actions. Promises to not let it happen again will most likely not produce the result you are looking for. I would also suggest that you disable the remember password setting to avoid such issues in the future even if you keep your computer locked. Personally I never use password remember features. I look at it as having one more layer of security to hopefully avoid anyone else from accessing my accounts.
I use double tap. I use the mouse to turn and A/D to strafe so I double tap A/D to dodge to the side. I have not had much trouble with dodging by accident. I think some of it has to do with my keyboard because it isn’t very sensitive. If I’m in a JP that I think might cause a problem I disable it temporarily. For me it fits well and minimizes the number of keys I have to reach for as I have most everything else programed into my mouse buttons.
To be safe you change your password using the my account link.
changing password as requested does not work

I’m a bit confused about what you mean by changing password as requested. Do you mean you received a notice to change your password?
Lessons from the sky is pretty much a series of jump puzzles using the special aspects you acquire from areas in the map. Here is a good guide for finding them with instructions but if you prefer an extra challenge you can chose to ignore the step by steps and videos for each one.
http://dulfy.net/2013/07/08/gw2-sky-crystals-lessons-from-the-sky-achievement-guide/
As for getting to the airships I don’t think you can.
You mistook “do not give a rat’s kitten about” for “forgot.”
Oh I agree with your list I was just adding an idea as well. I suppose I should have worded it differently.
Your forgot standard armor repair costs when defeated.
I would like to see the duels end after you are downed. Mostly because I think the downed state in PvP is lame, but it will also solve that problem.
But that isn’t the way it works in PvE. IMO if you are going to pick a fight with some random player then you should be prepared to spend some time visiting the armor repair merchant. Perhaps if you are dueling a friend or guild member they will do you a solid and call it a match once downed. Plus wouldn’t it make it even that much more exciting to have more at stake than bragging rights?
I keep trying to forget about open-world dueling, but every once in a while someone brings it up. On the odd chance ANet will read this thread and hasn’t read the prior ones, my stance is that open world dueling is fine with me IF:
- There is an auto-decline duels option as the default
- The ignore list is not capped — just on the odd chance I start getting whispers about why I’m auto-declining
- Open world dueling cannot take place in social areas (trading post, crafting areas, role-play spots); in other words, so there are places duelers can go to duel, and other places other players can go to avoid being annoyed by duels
Why do I impose those conditions? Because any system put into an online game can be and will be abused by some players.
Your forgot standard armor repair costs when defeated.
I don’t know. If you don’t want to install windows I can understand that and I don’t want to either. I was running GW2 on my 2009
Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB
And it worked okay at the lower graphics settings. I messed around with them a fair amount and got decent, 20-30 FPS in many areas. Granted I wasn’t running around WvW in 60 player zergs. It was playable for sure. I just had to deal with low graphics settings.
@Lunaire, what graphics settings are you using? I’m on a 2012 with lower specs than yours and with several settings at medium including using FXAA I stay in the 30-45 range in most moderately crowded areas. I’m looking at it now as I am in LA moving around the TP and mystic forge and the lowest it has dropped was 25 but hovers in low 30s.
Edit:
@OP you should be able to download the Mac client and test it and if it doesn’t work to your satisfaction you can always download the Windows client later.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
They are only an achievement and basically you touch it and get the achievement. They do not contain loot. Kind of a bummer because some of them are not too easy to get to. I suppose the chest at the end of the jumping puzzle is suppose to be the reward but even some of those you don’t have to complete to get the kite.
Is not fair that the people that bouoght this game for the pvp aspect, doesnt have any change to fight against guild members or friends with our PVE equipment that we use in WvW.
Stop QQing.
As i say before, all this QQ for having a duel system, is because people dont want to look coward when someone ask for a duel.
Your attitude is exactly why I don’t want to see dueling in open world. I don’t want /map and /say littered with players like you saying things like, “So and so is such a chicken because they won’t duel me. They are just afraid of getting pwned LOL” IMO that’s the light version of what would occur. Making statements such as yours is not helping the argument for dueling in open world.
As I have said, I’m not against dueling and I would probably participate in it from time to time if it were in an instanced area. People that don’t want dueling in open world does not translate to coward. They are entitled to their opinion on the matter as well and just because they don’t want something you do does not mean they are QQing. Making this your argument for dueling is juvenile and lacks substance.
There have been several valid points made by others on why they don’t want it in open world. Some of pro dueling people in this thread have ignored several of those points.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
I don’t mind 1v1 PvP or duels as long as they’re in a place where I don’t have to deal with them….and that includes people fighting around me while I’m crafting or banking or just chatting.
This is how I feel and I posted a very similar opinion on this as well. I’m sure there are plenty of people that want to duel that would try to not make this an issue but it is kind of like the music instrument situation where others would not care or would do it to get one people’s nerves. I highly doubt they could make a slider option to not view dueling in open world.
If open world dueling did occur I think I know where it would occur and it wouldn’t be out of the way places or contested areas. I think it would probably be the easiest places to access with no chance of picking up agro from mobs. It would be the more populated areas so that those wanting to duel can find people faster to have pickup duels. This would most likely be where other people are trying to do transactions, crafting and other things. Even if they set it so it was not allowed in major cities I have a map in mind where I think it is most likely to occur.
It isn’t so much I don’t want to see dueling if I am roaming around. I would prefer not to have combat effects all over my screen with the accompanying sounds while doing something at a TP or crafting station. Then of course you would have to see the affect it would have on /map and /say. It would probably result in a lot of back and forth specifically related to who won and who lost and who won’t fight who. I’m being a bit forgiving when I leave it at that level of conversation. An instanced dueling area I’m all for.
Just looking at this thread and seeing some pro open world dueling players saying people that don’t want it are just QQing kind of makes me wonder if that attitude would spill into open world as well.
This should help
http://dulfy.net/category/gw2/
What have you been drinking IRL?
crappy economic beer.
Drinking that stuff is bad karma man.
What have you been drinking IRL?
PvP must be a ghost town because there have been several recent threads about ways to get people into PvP.
Welcome to the forums and I hope you enjoy them.
I read your post and I suppose I should not have used my example since I don’t want to hear anyone’s music. Let’s pretend I do and the tool you suggest is available. Okay, I have my slider on so I can hear you. Now I go to a congested area in LA and there are 3 people spamming their instruments and now I have to search them out so I can target them to block them, wash and repeat. I just don’t think your idea would work. I’m sorry but I don’t think people are looking for more things to click and check to avoid things they don’t want to be exposed to even if they like some people’s music. Most people would just choose mute all out of convenience.
Your other suggestion seems more viable in that having a selected music zone so people that want to hear it can. Then again, why does Anet need to implement this? Why don’t you, the musician set up an unofficial area in some part of the map for your shows? There are tons of places where no one stands around that would suit this. Then you and whoever wants to hear you play can go there and do just that. They can all have their sliders on and you can play your heart out. That way the people that want to hear you play can do so without having to go around clicking people’s names all day.
This is a much better idea but you seemed to have changed your mind on this as you didn’t even quote it and have stopped talking about it:
1. Music Free/Specific Zones
Much like in most cities, you need a busking licence to play on the street. If ANet limited instruments to designated areas, it would allow players to gather there to hear, and play music.
I think what it comes down to is you are seeing that many people don’t want to hear people play their music. I think this has made you angry because it seems you have invested a lot of time learning to play your songs.
Now you seem to be in rage mode with “Delete this thread!” and quoting yourself over and over. I’m sorry but that isn’t going to help people to want to be more receptive to you or your music.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
i agree with you but it is getting more attention then a title requesting ticket suport and reaching a larger amount of ppl
True but ultimately the only people it needs to reach is Anet staff. We are just the peanut gallery.
I can understand some frustration in this situation but IMO going to a forum asking for support with a thread title, “worst support in the gaming industry” is probably not the best way to ask for help. I clicked the thread because I thought it was going to be another, “I got banned wrongfully and all I did was say, kitten, kitten, kitten, kitten, you kitten, kitten, kitten in chat. That’s what the language filter is for.” Sorry those types pop up regularly.
