Why is it every time one of these types of topics come up and someone disagrees with the idea people get defensive just because someone disagrees? I don’t see anyone against mounts saying they are right and the others are wrong. They are simply saying they disagree.

I’m pretty sure that is the case. I think many people see that and don’t even consider the rest of the campaign. Charr offers temp reduction on the cost of something you would have to spend RWM/gold to purchase to unlock something that you won’t know what is inside or Human female with temp reduction on WP costs that save money.

I think that pretty much doomed Evon from the start. Many people won’t bother to look at the other parts of his campaign. It would have been slightly more balanced if he was offering temp reduction on armor repair fees.

No there should not be mounts.

How would they scale for large sized characters? Would a giant Norn be riding say a horse that takes up the entire screen or would it look like it is riding a pony? People that play Norns seem to like making everything as large as possible then stand in front of you blocking your view. No thanks, I don’t want Norns taking up all of my screen with their mounts.

Plus I don’t like mounts.

Oh, I don’t send out anything mind blowing, usually stuff like dye kits, repair canisters and so forth. I did send someone a makeover kit once because they called my Sylvari ugly.

Isn’t the charr guy the one with short term discount on BLKs and the woman short term discount on WP costs? I have not been following it really so I can’t recall. If that is the case I think I can see why.

Well lets see. I am kind of odd because I like to send random people gifts if I see a conversation in chat where it is someone really new or I can tell someone is having a bad day. So you could use the gold to gems to buy small items from the gem store for gifts. Just an idea.

Like others have said you can play the TP market. I kind of enjoy that but I just started recently am am trading on cheaper items but it is kind of fun and easy money for not much work.

Go crazy with armor and transmutation stones to mix up your look now and then.

I think if you look for ways to spend it outside the basic stuff you will be surprised how fast it gets spent.

I imagine a lot of people have mules due to maxed out bank slots and so forth. So I was curious if people give their mules interesting names or just do something like, “kjaepbetvow”.

I only have 1 mule at as of now. He’s my mule/trader. It helps to have a dedicated alt for trading so the buy items don’t get mixed in when I’m buying something for another non-mule alt. I made him an engineer so he would have the backpack to fit his job. His name is “Im So Mule” and if you see him there will be no doubting his job in Tyria. He kind of stands out as well. Poor guy, I don’t think he will ever make it past L2 but at least I let him live.

If you still need the achievement now is the time. I race maybe 5 times a day and the level of competition has declined. Many times there hasn’t even been a full group but like 8-9 people. I get first a lot and the last few days I’ve been on cruise control and still wining, but after 1 win I just run without using dash or teleports to let others cash in. I think a lot of the hardcore runners have moved on to the new mini games. If you need it I suggest taking a shot soon.

Not criticising anyone’s buying decisions but those of you who spend hundreds of dollars, $300-600+, what are you buying with all that? I’m not sure I’d find enough stuff worth purchasing in the gemstore to spend that amount if I tried. I’m just curious.

Character slots, bank slots, bag slots, armor skins, infinite harvesting tools, name change contracts, total makeover kits, transmutation stones, other odds and ends and my favorite the new ability to send gems store items as gifts. I like to spread a little cheer every now and then if I know someone is having a bad day.

Hey I wouldn’t mind but there is a big problem with that idea. Look at the thank you gifts they have given to people a few times if they even if they spent $10 on gems. It was a very nice thank you and I enjoyed it. However each time people started running around with their heads exploding over it. Just imagine your idea. It would turn in a global thermal nuclear war around here.

The female Profane Armor Skin in the gem store is most certainly not a skirt. It’s more of a garter belt deal as is rather skimpy. I know that doesn’t solve your concern but I thought I’d throw it out there in the event you might be interested in such an option. I feel the same way about medium armor and the abundance of trench coats.

Ballpark, close to $300 after box price, maybe a bit more. I spend my money on things I like and enjoy so I don’t regret it. I have many alts and I often get things I like for them, armor skins, bank slots, bag slots, character slots, and often transmutation stones after I burn through the ones I got in game. I have traded gems for gold a few times for craft leveling. Then throw in the fact that I can never decide on a name until about the 3rd or 4th change and it adds up. I don’t mind buying BLKs every now and then because even though the reward often doesn’t equal the cost I use most of the boosts, dyes, level up books, make over kits and so forth. I did just get a ticket and some scraps today for buying 10 keys with some gems left after some other purchases. Now I have to decide what weapon skin to get. Being an alt addict that makes for a tough choice.

So yes, I’d say I’m content with the money I have spent so far. I’m not too happy with the harvesting tools being soulbound but I knew that going into it. Now I have a mule with the pickaxe parked at my home instance, LOL. Hopefully they will sell that one again soon because I do like it, just not on the alt that it is bound to.

Edit: As per your thread title about how much I paid to play GW2, technically I only paid the box price to play. The other things I chose to pay for just for the extra stuff.

Yes there are certain words that are normally not acceptable in any circle. Dropping one of those in game would probably equal a 72 hour vacation I imagine.

I would have liked it if they were account bound as well. I ran into the same issue with the pickaxe. I bought it for my first character. I soon learned I no longer like or want to play that character. Now I have a mule with a pickaxe. I ended up parking her at my home instance for mining the crystal node.

I don’t think you can use soulbound items in that case.

Actually this is not your second post on the topic if you count the ones you posted using someone else’s account, your cousin posting and your “friend” posting on the same topic. Of course the last two were not technically you (I think) but I think you get the point. Maybe I’m a pessimist, but there are very few people in life you can trust with absolute certainty to not kitten (I actually typed kitten) you over. You friend has already shown that he is willing to scam people. Doesn’t sound like a very trustworthy person to me.

Anyway, I’ve said what I have to say on this.

I don’t think you are going to win any favors continuing to post about this over and over. Supposedly your friend scammed someone for one of the most sought after items in the game. Somehow, and I don’t think we are getting the whole story, this affected your account. Are you really sure you can trust and believe this friend?

Maybe it is just me but perhaps you should just go about your business on your new account. I would suggest your keep your “friend” very very far away from your new account.

Absolutely not, is against the ToS and could get your account terminated. If that person does anything wrong you would be the one dealing with the problem. They do not take kindly to sharing accounts.

Where ever you buy it you need make sure it is from an authorized vendor. While eBay may seem like and appealing option if something goes wrong you may be SOL unless the seller is an authorized vendor. It is on Amazon digital download for $40 and if you notice the seller is Amazon. There are some from other vendors. I don’t think I would touch those. That’s just me though.

No, Stale is not an anomaly. I can back that up from my own personal experience. I even dueled from time to time in WoW but the constant spamming of requests were really annoying. Then toss in the garbage talk that comes with it and I’d rather no take a chance on that type of behavior leaking into GW2 PvE. Having an auto decline is a nice thought but I don’t want to have to spend every second clicking block in chat to filter out the dueling trash talk.

You may have good intentions and you may not abuse it but I’d be willing to bet for every one of you there are at least 2 others that would. As Stale mentioned above you have to admit that several of the pro-dueling players posting here don’t really support the argument that insults and trash talking won’t occur.

Many have mentioned that dueling would be fine with them in an instanced area or a designated area. Actually I think most of them have including myself. However, there would have to be some way that /map and /say were policed to avoid an overflow of garbage talk.

Usually when Gaile looks into these issues she presents a statement regarding the violation without quoting it directly of course. No offense but often people post here saying they did nothing wrong only to have it revealed that they were indeed in violation.

Just because the suspension was today doesn’t mean the violation occurred today. It could have been something you did in the past and it is just now catching up with you.

There were multiple threads on the topic and it was just a big mess because of that. Anyway it sounds like a done deal so I don’t really see a reason to go on about it.

Are Mac users able to play with PC Users? – Yes you can. There is no divide in the game between Mac and Windows users.

Why is is called ‘Mac Beta’. – Because it is still in Beta. It is unknown at this time when it will come out of Beta. There are still some minor glitches related to the Mac client. For the most part they are not that intrusive.

Some other things you may want to know if you are not familiar with the way the client works. The client is actually a cider wrapper that allows the GW2 program to run under OSX. It is not a native Mac client and it is unknown if there will be one in the future.

As mentioned above, the client works fairly well for the most part. If you have some problems there are steps to correct them provided by many helpful users on this forum. The problems I have run across are fairly minor and usually corrected by logging out to character select or out of the game completely. Some of these problems are not specifically related to playing on OSX and can occur using windows as well.

I brought something like this about a few weeks ago. Often I buy the skins for one character but as an alt aholic I often would just like one or two pieces from that set on an alt. I suggested some kind of stone of sorts that could be purchased from the gem store that would allow you to “clone” a piece of the purchased set. I think this would make a nice middle ground. If you buy a set and want a piece or two for an alt you could buy this item, say 150 gems, and clone one piece. At that price if you wanted to clone a whole set it would actually cost more than buying the set. In that case you just buy the whole set. If you just wanted a piece or two to me it would be a good option and I would probably buy the item that could do this often.

The major thing that keeps me from buying other sets for my alts is the price and the fact that I often don’t want a whole set for my alts but just one or two pieces. Of course the ability to clone items with the “tool” I mentioned would be limited to gem store armor skins so people could not clone legendarys and such. Once again i think this would be a good middle ground for people that bought the whole set but don’t necessarily want buy another entire set for an alt. Maybe it is just me but I think it would be a popular item.

When all this was going on in this forum earlier I lost track of who did what, who was posting from who’s accounts and so forth and I gave up.

No they don’t impress me but no item in the game impresses me. Even the items I put a lot of game time in to acquire don’t impress me. I just enjoy the fact that I had fun along the path to obtaining them. It is just a video game.

I vary rarely even look at other players armor and weapons. I had a thread awhile back asking if players look at others armor and many people said no or rarely. Actually some of the legendarys bug me slightly, specifically the great swords. It is not uncommon to stand in an area or traveling in the opposite direction of a player and have them spam an attack skill in your face I suppose to try and show off. I’ve seen people do it for several minutes in certain areas. It just makes me think of the line, “cool story bro.”

On the other hand I can see how many player’s have a sense of enjoyment and excitement having a legendary. From what I have read around these forums, to many it is the ultimate prize at this point in the game. I imagine if I wanted one and obtained it without buying it from gems to gold transactions I would be rather pleased as well. I doubt I would go around spamming it in player’s faces though.

The transfer fee is only charged if you have characters on your account; in other words, if your account has no characters or you delete all existing characters first, you will be prompted to select a new home world after creating a new character, free of charge.

You can delete your characters and transfer for free. Just don’t forget to put everything in the bank first.

I’m pretty sure the moose in GW2 that will never find a mate is an analogy of sorts.

I think it would be cool if they could ride on my shoulder when I am moving and then get down when I’m stationary. This would solve the problem of them being 5,000 miles behind when I’m running. I know it’s lame but for some reason it popped into my head.

I’m sure all those people that are away from game for various reasons during that time frame or longer will be pleased. Until the Bazaar finishes there are actually multiple ways to get your hands on quartz, and the TP market is saturated with them, which keeps the price low. However, once the bazaar ends the source of the quartz will dry up, except for those who have the node in their home instance. This will limit the source of quartz, thus driving the price up if the demand remains high.

I think that is going to be a really long time though considering the amount available at this time and that only 25 a day can be used per account. It will still be entering the market at much smaller numbers but I don’t know how long it will take for the demand to catch up.

I have an Engineer named Lonnie Wrench. I’m rather fond of it because it took me a while to find an Engineer name I liked. I don’t know how many will see the reference though.
