If I’m not mistaken in order to research reaper you have to have all lines maxed. If you are level 80 you automatically get enough points to max all the core lines.

I am a user of banner of tactics. I like it as is. Does anyone need to explain the benefit of +% boon duration after herald had theirs nerfed?

As for the 170 healing power to heal others 10%, why? Shouts and regeneration would only improve by +1% assuming base 2k healing power and 42.5% heal to others. It wouldn’t be a horrible change but hardly necessary.

If I were to change banner of tactics it would probably be a 60/60 duration/recharge.

Lots of invulnerability for necromancer’s that get focused. Some for necromancers that make a Mesmer friend. A good long 3 seconds for a necromancer in wvw that even compliments the new bleed bot.

I appreciate the replies, especially the strategy advice. However, I did not want to adress individual skill.

My issue is that WvW simply doesn’t fit with the rest of the game. GW2 as a whole is a casual-friendly game; most content is “no strings attached” and can be completed in small or large increments. There is no wind-up time, no penalty for taking breaks, playing short sessions or playing solo. None of this is true for WvW (or raids, but that’s another topic).

Perhaps that’s just the way it is. Maybe WvW is meant to be a homage to 90s and 00s MMO gameplay, where group content was all there was. Personally, I think it’s simply lacking polish.

It’s a large hotjoin pvp map not queensdale. The content is supposed to be players fighting players. If you want to solo instead of group content there you will need to get good so you can solo other enemy players.

You have capable pvp experience or you don’t.
You have a pvp capable build or you don’t.
You have a pvp capable group or you don’t.

There is a huge disparity in capability in wvw which makes zerging kind of an inevitable outcome. About the only thing holding wvw together are copy paste builds and downed state. So it’s not surprising EotM draws potential wvw population as people can play whatever they want at any skill level they are and feel adequate. If everyone is bad then you have a reasonable chance to win at a pvp mode.

Plague signet is stacked, very stacked with the trait and also has an auto cast trait. I’m sure there is some way to improve it reasonably but I seriously doubt anyone has the golden answer.

You are solo roaming and ultimately to have fun doing that you need to view wvw a little more abstract. But that is not enough as like you said, veterans will shut you down pretty hard.

What you will need to do,
-Create a build that can move, kill and survive fast.
-Know the other classes’ skills and builds.
-Know the frequent enemy players.
-Understand the map and how your enemy will understand the map.
-Appreciate that you are doing it for your enjoyment, not for the loot.

These are things that take ALOT of experience to weave together to make an enjoyable play time. There is a reason very few truely solo roam anymore, many will claim they do but many of those don’t. I’ve been playing wvw forever and much of it solo roaming and I can tell you, I don’t know of any true solo roamers. Not even I will solo roam heavy anymore which means that I am not a solo roamer.

I can teach you how to solo roam as far as the map goes, but if you want to solo roam you are just going to have to put hours apon hours playing a build you create and make alts and play common enemy builds too.

A few days ago, a youtuber posted video how to get easy Platinum doubloons (mystic forge of correct tier gems). Then they spiked down. Now the spike effect is mostly gone.

People have been doing that for along time. It was almost not even worth doing 6 months ago when I got juggernaut because of the price on those stones and the time burnt clicking.

Oh not sure if you meant silver or platinum oops.

A large factor in flax price drop is probably the scribe recipes being gutted.

They probably need to tread with care.

At the moment is there really anything super awesome they cannot do because of tech limits that making a whole new game will solve within 4years? EverQuest Next legit had a reason to update an old game with a new one and even had plans on what new shinny innovative thing it could bring to the table. Well after they collapsed the game turned into vaporware.

I don’t think they should do what they did to gw1, call it obsolete and ignore it going forward with a “replacement” game. I’m thinking gw3 could fill a different genre like maybe 1-5man fps or something and set it as a prequel.

The Focus and Shield were pretty good and I will try them again (I am keeping alt weapons in my inventory). I haven’t tried Mantras because of the mixed reviews but will try them tomorrow. Thanks again!

So… I accidentally acquired a cat in my home instance due to not realizing the interaction with said cat would send it to my home as a permanent feature.

Is there a way to remove it? At least I know now not to interact with anymore!

You’re going to need absolutely enormous amounts of iron, platinum, mithril, and soft, seasoned, hard, and elder wood. The sheer volume is a bigger barrier than the account-bound salvage materials, IMO.

I’m assuming that you mean I’ll need all of those materials to get my skills up. But I’ve already maxed my skills (they’re all at 500). All I need at this point is the ascended materials. And the only thing that seems to be coming easy is bloodstone dust. Is there any zone or instance that’s especially good for farming ascended materials?

are materials that if you play enough you end up throwing away stacks or finding the machines that transform it into generic loot. They forget that if you are just getting into the ascended crafting you wont have very much upfront.

-bloodstone dust is mainly gotten from champion mobs,
-empyreal fragments are from random loot chests you find in the world like jumping puzzles and also dungeons and wvw camp lord npcs.
-dragonite you find from world bosses and keep lords in wvw.

There are other sources but these are the primary ones.

The reason you max guard killer first is 20% increased dmg to all NPCs, including Lords AND 50% endurance on kill. Not to mention it’s cheap. Ram 3 and max catapult actually add benefit upfront, those other lines are mainly convenience.

A controllable regenerating damage shield that reduces damage by 50%, gives access to another skill bar while allowing continued recharge of all skills on the primary bar.

The change does not make shroud any stronger than it is. Nor am I proposing that our LF be buffed to where we can indefinitely sustain ourselves against a spike.

Moreover I’m just proposing changing the mechanic so that we have equivalent sustain to everyone else.

Protection will always mitate 30% of incoming damage. If you get hit for 10k it mitigates 3k, if you get hit for 1k it mitigates for 300. That is what I mean by “scaling”

um that is exactly what shroud does, -50% damage taken, infact its better than protection, it just doesn’t last forever. And necro do infact have access to protection aswell.

Make sure you join a guild if you are not in one and pickup the wvw rank exp buff and use your birthday boosters. Shouldn’t have too much problem zipping up the ranks. 115 well spent points will get you max catapult mastery, max guard killer and rank 3 ram mastery.

Guard killer should of course be first maxed and probably ram 3 second. Catapult mastery third but it’s mostly about that shield bubble which is max line unfortunately. Many will say supply capacity first but it’s such a hog and a drop in the bucket when you run with 6+ players.

They’ve been watching your videos and decided the crit bleed build was op. It’s the same reason the carry devourer went untouched while the other pets were buffed.

probably got sick of all the hacking reports for bearbow rangers doing 30 stacks of bleed and devourers doing 1k poison tics.

Taking 50% of the the precision-gated sharpened edge bleeds away to justify +4 bleeds on 24sec cd sharpening stone is just an abomination in balancing.

Like why don’t they go kittening double the number of attacks required to proc virtue of justice for burn guards. Lol instead it gets a trait that cuts that in half, turns it into aoe and in pvp the burns are doubled. Its not even gated behind lolprecision.

They turned sharpened edges into a minor trait yet its still a major trait…

Alright, lets talk about optimal since you ignored the entire rest of my post.
You prefer to

A celestial build certainly lacks attribute points in any categorie compared to the full damage/defense/support alternative builds. Thus, your +% scales of something that is most likely at a maximum of ~1900 when it could be more than 2700.

Just enough, make up for any inefficiency with +% modifiers and might stacking.

You clearly have a certain build in mind if you say that celestial gear has to come in principal with might stacking and when you’re talking about making up inefficiency. (Warrior much?)

Dragon’s cake’s advantage is that it’s not situational and clearly fits the all-stat theme. Whatever you’re doing, it helps – and that with a good stat bonus. But is it the only way to go? Not really, unless you want the maximum amount of stats possible. This thread was originally intended to find alternatives, which have been mentioned by professor sprout and haley. Another problem this thread was on about, was the low amount of dragon cake that is available on the market. We discussed about economics and stated our opinions on the dragon cake. Then you came in, stating that the cake shouldn’t be used at all on celestial gear anytime, anyhow although it has it’s use and it has it’s advantages; it’s somewhat decent for every situation, just like the celestial gear itself, especially when you can’t decide on a role, but you want to be able to do everything to some extent. As soon as you go for a +% food, you’re focusing on a role partly. It doesn’t mean that you’re not playing a hybrid build anymore, but that you build up strengths. Being indecisive and not taking a role is of course not optimal and inefficient and especially not in the meta, but hell – it’s another playstyle.

So use scholar runes, rice ball food, condition damage utility

still more efficient than starcakes and lolrevenant runes.

I often find that people who need to dissect quote another in aggressive defense of themselves are not worth responding to further and so I will end my interaction and let you have any further ground.

Celestial gear isn’t about MOAR stat points.

Believe it or not, when the gear first came out 3 years ago, this was the main point of having it. This gear was a new reason for people to try out hybrid builds and making jack of all trades. I still remember a few of my good ol’ guildies who raged about the nerf of the celestial gear. You may go for an offensive build that also has a fair share of points in both support&defense, you may also call it hybrid build, but saying that celestial gear absolutely has to run with something different than a starcake is just mäh. Especially when we consider the greatest weakness of celestial gear; every % bufffood works on a purely damage/defensive/supportive build better, as the stats it scales of are higher.

It’s about swapping a gear’s stat points with other stat points that happens to give the right amount of vita/toughness without gross compromise of other desirable stats.

You don’t seem to get the idea behind jack of all trades. Every stat is desirable in that moment, when you go for all-stat. As soon as you swap gear to adjust to your personal playstyle, you’re going for an offensive/defensive/support oriented build.

Using a rune set or food specifically for its celestial stat on a celestial geared character is a very poor compromise. It’s like saying, why meerly have below average stats in everything when you can have slightly less below average stats in everything?

I’m not sure if you did the math here and what you define as average stat. If we put all people together and assume you’re the only celestial geared guy playing on the server, you’ll see that you’re not below average stats, but above it. The healer/condi/pure tank won’t have the power you have. Yet you will have less power than the berserker. You won’t have as much healingpower as the healer, yet more than the others etc.

This celestial gear has obviously a little bit more stat points than other gear, because it will make a build above average in every aspect, but a master of none. Which is also the reason why it’s not in the meta. Focusing on one certain stat with a rune is absolutely not wrong, but then again, you’re specialising for a role at that moment.

This is the same reason people still use the ascended berserker/valk and just valk trinkets even though marauders exists.

In a build that has good crit chance naturally, marauders is a poor stat compromise over something like berserker/valk even though mathematically it has more stat points.

That is a problem of gw2’s balancing. Just like there are useless adept perks, there are armor sets that – when tested – are argueably weaker than other sets because certain stats are becoming less good the more you have of it. The best example for this is the toughness stat. If you google “toughness vs.” or “toughness curve” you’ll find some interesting posts on both reddit and the official forums, regarding the damage reduction it provides compared to the stats invested. The same goes for an exceed of precision, as in your example.
You may call it a compromise, however, as I said before:

Being a jack of all trades is not in the meta obviously and is not about efficiency, but being able to do everything equally good.

If you don’t want to eat a starcake because you want to have more power in your hybrid build, then it’s fine. Does it make it useless? Certainly not, especially not with 315 statpoints.

I mean you bring up toughness and that is kinda what I mean. Celestial gear brings the right amount of toughness without it being wasteful. Healing power scales like garbage but celestial gear brings in a good amount but not so much that it is again wasteful.

The strength of celestial stat is bringing in just the right amount of defensive stats without becoming a negative compromise on the more desirable stats.

Starcakes and lolrevenant runes are not ideal choices for a celestial build because they compromise on the principal efficiency of the celestial gear stat choice which is:
