A change like this would not only make it possible to stay in CA infinitely, but also make it easier to enter it on cooldown, because you would have more AF left after exiting, basically buffing DC and CS.

Druid doesn’t need any buffs. It is decent in all 3 game modes.

The only limiter on Druidic Clarity and Celestial Shadow is the CD. It’s been that way since they changed every random green number tic to contribute to Astral Force Generation.

There are alot of problems that downed state enables that im not adressing atm but nerfing over the top ress capabilities would solve at least one of them. Strong stomping capabilities dont bother me much, it’s a good thing that players who went into downed state most likely end up dying.

A large one is that downed players don’t stop recharging skills and traits. If for whatever reason you just cannot spike them but only cleave, and they get rezed after ~10-15sec, you are in a doubly bad spot.

With a 7sec rally or die cap it wouldn’t be so bad.

So, a Necro with lag is a dead Necro, unless the lag is really, really bad.

I laughed at joke but really it comes down to 2 miss conceptions with necromancer/reaper,

*facetanking and swap to second life bar to face tank some more then die
*cant take any hits or will die because no invulnerable frames

I would rather have some lag and play reaper than play something like daredevil.
If its heavy lag I would rather just close game and do something else.

Have not seen a class that can boon corrupt or even boon removal comparable to the necromancer.

For boon removal/corruption to mean anything it needs to be aoe/pulsing/piercing/corruption in some combination.

Not even Nullfield is all that great except for its other utility, traited or not. I run it traited on my Mesmer because its better than most other utilities when playing support. For some perspective on that, I don’t run well of corruption on my boon corrupt necro simply because I don’t think it does enough for the precious utility slot. I love my Mesmer but when it comes to needing boon removal nothing tops reaper.

Can we buff spectral walk?

Only buff I could see is reducing its recharge.

I’ve seen suggestions of all sorts dealing with the carry that is downed state, from fancy population calculations to simply removing it altogether. I think it should be trimmed but not completely removed. In every game I’ve played the rampant ganking is such a turnoff. But in Guild Wars 2 the downed system is at such an extreme it carries to the point it is such a turnoff aswell.

I think downed state should have a duration hard cap of,

5 seconds (extreme)
or
7 seconds (ideal)
or
10 seconds (generous)

After X-seconds of the player not rallying they should just be defeated.
It would leave time for resurrecting and also keep a purpose in stomping by reducing the time a player has to rally.

Just a vid showing a small sample of what occurs during small scale in wvw that is just sickening. Both demonstrating why downed state exists (hammer rev op roaming…) and also why it should be trimmed (players free-casting pewpew/cc from downed state for way too long).

I’m sure there are horror stories of players dying 3v1 to a player blasting them with damage aswell as sadface stories of players going 1v3 just to die to downed state players that should have been removed from the fight after 5-10seconds rather than 30seconds +. But the question comes to me as, who should ultimately be winning these scenario? The outnumbered guy or the people who died mashing buttons?

It’s probably lag but yes I would have reported it and reviewed the vid aswell. Just because the ele couldn’t rez doesn’t automatically mean it’s not a hack.

The reason I suspect it as lag is because those teleports were not really in his favor, he would have blinked straight away repeatedly out of combat. The reason I would have reviewed it myself is because he got away due to nothing other than those teleports.

I dodge Arc Divider all the time.

If it looks like he just covered himself in radioactive hot sauce, there’s a good chance you have an inbound Arc Divider. After the first few seconds of Rage state, the quickness ends and it’s somewhat easier.

While I agree that limiting the AD range to 300 is the way to go, I find the rev hammer to be worse due to its spamability, range, and pairing with a strong auto that also can’t be ignored.

Ya CoR does need a throttle. They could gut the damage and it would still be fine to cast on CD because it costs nothing and has no recharge.

Hammer AA is one of those things,
Slow casting fodder for CC(headshot spam anyone?)/weaving/projectile hate. But when it hits it makes up for all the times it doesn’t. 3-5k ranged AA is pretty crazy until you look at a glass cannon ranger AA for 3k @2k range with faster attack speed. The only reason ranger longbow is a joke currently is because 4 of the 5 skills are lolprojectiles and it doesn’t have any hard defensive skills to negate damage.

Arc Divider

People bring up CoR for some reason, let me explain the difference:

Arc Divider 450 pbaoe with practically no tell. It will not miss anyone in range if the hit will land.

CoR 1200 range 3/4 cast narrow cascade field with ~1-1.25sec time to dodge that also wont hit a target moving perpendicular to its travel path. Fails frequently on broken terrain.

Both skills are strong and when it comes down to comparing them the biggest difference I find is one cannot miss on a player not randomly negating while the other will only land on a player standing still or moving in line with the player on flat terrain who is out of active defensive negates.

If I were to rebalance both skills,

Arc Divider would get a radius reduction down to 300
CoR I would increase its energy cost to 15 or CD to 8sec.

Arc Divider is a melee skill…
People might think CoR is broken but its most ridiculous aspect is that there is no reason to not use it on recharge (terrain and player movement depending).

Of course your typical condi build won’t have half of those, which means Justine’s suggestion would render deathly chill more or less pointless and condi builds would actually be better off running blighters or onslaught.

The only change that Deathly Chill needs is for WvW to work like it does in sPvP. Necros are underpowered in all modes except WvW.

The problem is the runaway effect with building builds that all flow into bleed with no hard cap. Frost Aura, Chilling Sigils, Corrupted Stability/Fury/Resistance and Chill Bolts are probably the biggest offenders of this.

Except there is a hardcap. There is a known amount of finishers available to necro, and the amount of chill fields available is deterministic as well. The shroud 5>4 combo is intended, and was clearly designed that way. The amount of times that a necro is going to get a projectile or whirl finisher off of somebody’s else’s ice field is so few as to be irrelevant.

Like I know you hate necro because of WvW, but objectively WvW should be using the sPvP version of the trait anyways, and besides WvW balance is a joke anyways because of PvE food/gear/runes.

Totally ignored the rest of my list, including ele frost aura share. I guess I don’t care as long as something is done. Right now my noob allies get melted by the enemy noob reapers mashing buttons. Its more or less the carnage making fights over by the luck of the draw or more accurately who has the last reapers standing to cleave the downs for the rally.

Depends on what you else you give up.

If a straight trade I would probably go with the 300 ferocity assuming you are reaching 94% crit chance with fury.

I actually thought this trait was linked to skills that caused chill rather than any chill at all. It would actually probably be easier to balance if the source of chill was limited to that instead of any random chill. Thinking of the difference between a random icd procing chilling bolt combo vs guaranteed 600 chill shouts always procing as extremes.

Except I don’t believe the stacks last all that long so something like 2 seconds may be enough to make it not be so OP.

I mean if you put an icd on it then random procs of things like chilling bolt can make you sadface because it denies you potential 600 aoe 5 target bleed if you cast a chill shout like .5sec after that. I think it would be better to tie chill bleed to the actual skills that cause chill for this reason.

They wont add ascended runes/sigils that straight up add moar stats. I do think there is room for ascended runes/sigils/infusions though, but in the form of another non mainstream stat.

Since I play WvW I’m thinking something like,

Ascended Rune of Whatever, +1% damage to siege (offensive) or -1% damage from siege (defensive)

Ascended Sigil of Whatever, +5% Reward Track per sigil

Ascended Infusion of Whatever, +1/3 supply carry limit (cap +5) or traps & tricks cost -1/3 supply (-5 cap)

I forgot they made this change until I was standing around defending a camp for 30min. Then after I was done defending the camp I forgot it was there until I stumbled onto this thread again.

The first duel shows why GS necro is actually god awful apart from larger fights, I would have just scepter autod for the win instead of messing around and missing skills.

Actually vid was more about the annoying mesmer who got triggered for some reason. Had a warrior keep doing it too but his guild mate whisper apologize for him after. Not sure what is really going on.

I fought a condi warrior the other night, longbow mace/shield. Fight lasted like 4 hours because of the bunkering and extreme crutch their build tree offers.

Real men play death shroud necro.

But everyone knows that Necro is the hardest thing to kill, easiest class to play, and most faceroll because you get a second life bar! (/s)

Necro isn’t the easiest kill, its the most reliable kill.

There are 4 maps. Without linking it becomes 1 map as the rest are a ghost town. Now if you don’t want linking in t1 that’s another story, one that the highest stacked server would love I’m sure.

Considering our main problem is keeping down the downed people I’d say that’s a rather good thing. Though, the build does do its fair amount of damage and the numbers add up.
Aside from that, I personally don’t enjoying hanging in the back and just spamming my skills at range. But I guess it depends on what you define as being fun. I enjoy a more dynamic and mobile playstyle compared to the slow and static feel of hammer. But maybe you just enjoy seeing the big numbers from hammer rev.

How is it hard to keep people downed with hammer? I finish people with hammer because it’s easier. If anything it creates more downs. The only hammer skill that has a ranged limiter is CoR and even that hits hard in melee range.

Only problem with that is that most of the utility skills are not worth using, even if they didn’t have an energy cost or CD, or even both. The jalis roadbuilding could have no CD and no cost and it would still be utter garbage. Before the cost or CD’s get removed, we have to pretty much rework the entire class first.

which you cant keep up because the amount of conditions some classes pump up is much higher than the 30 seconds cd cleanse the player has access to.

Yes it’s probably easy win 1 vs 5 if enemies don’t know how to dodge or remove conditions.

The best defense against Condi is to let them burst you into downed state. Then you get full Condi purge and tripple health to better facetank any newly applied Condi. Immunity to almost all cc and the really nifty skillbar goes a long way.

Its not a second life bar, its a rechargeable damage shield that comes with its own utility skills while your normal skills are allowed to recharge.

Whether you call it a life bar or damage shield, you’re right in that shroud skills (especially regular shroud) aren’t super useful or thematic and they just bide the time till you can use other skills. It’s a core mechanic of the class and most builds don’t use it other than to wait recharges like you said. That’s why I’m hoping that each shroud could be tweaked to fill a role. It would give necromancers a reason to want to be in shroud depending on if they want to damage, tank or support.

I wouldn’t use celestial on Mesmer unless I was using all 7 with mantra healing. Honestly I wouldn’t use celestial even then.

Mesmers do boons better than healing. So if you want to support with healing you should also utilize boons which means gear with concentration stat. The only 2 sets with that combination are seraph (glass condi) or minstrel (no damage bunker).

Tl;dr
Celestial Mesmer ends up being inefficient trying to use a stat set that it is necessary to be used efficiently to be a viable choice.

Not everything that applies condis is a condi build and it is not always condis that kill you, even if you have some on you. If you see only condi builds, maybe take a closer look to what actually kills you. I mean, i got accused of running “op condi cheese” while playing a gs + s/x power ranger.

That’s actually a very good point. Power Boon Corrupt Reapers can really put out a lot of conditions that while they don’t do a lot of damage, they certainly don’t help the enemy either.

I run as a Reaper that has over over 2k condition damage and can do anywhere from 25 to 50 stacks of bleeds. Plus 5 to 15 stacks of all other conditions with in about 20 seconds except for confusion which I do not do any of that.

I am not hacking the game I just found based of the meta build but tweaked a lot to fully maximize condition output.

Lately 1 vs 1 to 1 vs 5 fights I win all the time. But 1 vs 10 and higher that is hard to do even though in those larger fights I get 5 to 15 players in down state within the 1st 30 seconds of the fight.

I am always tweaking this build to get it even stronger.

Yes you need skill to really play well.

Also there is ways a tweak to all meta builds both power and condition to get more out of the build you are doing.

Nerfing the condi builds or removing it is not going to happen because I have power builds with other characters of mine have been tweaked too by the same method as I do condi ones.

So stop complaining and figure out what you are doing wrong in your build and make it better.

And for their next balance update maybe they will adjust staff aa to grant 50 endurance per target hit, marks grant 2seconds of invulnerability and a new trait that makes vulnerability cause chill / poison cause fear.

Then reapers would be amazingly faceroll balanced.
