The untargeted/minimal targeting thing is what bothers me the most. People laugh at me when I point at traited staff being carry but when I get touched by an unblockable hard to miss mark and get plastered with condi it triggers me. There are just too many traits that give conditions for doing conditions. I had one reaper cry because I flat out ran away from him, then I returned after he smashed his buttons and ranged him down. I might make a vid and post it here.
Some people run Marauder’s gear and hammer in the backline. Pray you don’t get CC’d though.
Being CCed isn’t bad, getting warded is a likely death sentence though.
It depends on the map currently,
If the map just has solo and duo roamers and a guild group of 5 comes in wipes everyone out it becomes obnoxious. That’s the kind of thing that guts small scale. It’s embarrassing when I can solo roam on a hammer rev but a guild group thinks they need 5 to do the same thing. But in reality where else should they go for 5v5 and accomplish something?
I run glass hammer rev still I just haven’t made many vids since people got wise on how to fight it now and small scale has gone full blown face tank, condi or runaway. I’d only use it in 5v5 upto 20v20 type engagements. Any smaller and you get focued harder than a necro and any higher and your damage gets washed out by sheer numbers and perma protection.
I just used Shiro Berserker Hammer.
yep.
Basically Shortbow needs 1500 range baseline so condi have an actual range option to compete with LB and ranger can be pewpew with condi too.
I wont play ranger/shortbow again unless they up its range. The problem with increased range on condi weapons is unkillable ranged dot bunker though.
I prefer solo but once in a while I do like teaming up with someone as it opens up some aspect of exploration.
Played a mission in GW1 the other day and that game I did mostly with heros. But I saw a person there and so I invited them to party and we completed it and several other missions as well.
I have the best wvw roaming build power, can 1vx, great for small group roaming, and alspo tags entire zergs, great stealth access, big damage.
Stats are 2300 power, 2900 armor, 20k hp 200% crit dmg 50.00% crit chance 180 heal power 0 condi dmg. oh, it completely relies on the 63% base boon duri with the concentration sigil, rock out those 100% boons.so you gave the weakness to your build right away, i hope our servers match up soon then.
Who cares, small scale in this game is a joke.
They shouldn’t have stopped development on GW1. It probably got to the same point as it’s becoming with GW2 though, it’s more cost effective to make 10$ costumes than it is to make 40$ campaigns.
Jeweling 500, Visible Jewelry
Cooking 500, Assorted Options for +% (magic find, reward tracks, experience, karma, rare gather, rare salvage) added to lvl 80 Food.
Cactus Fruit Salad + Ruby Shard = +8% Reward track
Cactus Fruit Salad + Sapphire Crystal = +10% Rare Gather
So ya I would limit use to t4 and t5 gemstones for +8% and +10% added bonuses.
Glass hammer is pretty nice for the ranged dps cleave. Although I use ahiro/glint instead of Jalis to avoid being hit.
hes talking the double infusions not just ascended with the single infusion. its 15 extra stats
So why is op linking threads about exotic vs ascended?
It really is worth it for the +% guard damage. +5% damage and +25 power (1 free might stack)
Those options do not address the time gating required for celestial armor, both in obtaining the resource needed, and in crafting of the needed component.
By the time people who care about time gated quartz for crafting gear today complain enough for Anet to change it, they will already have had enough time to completely gear a toon in full ascended celestial. The time gating on quartz for crafting has been and will always be a moot point of debate.
This is unlikely to happen.
You as a player have options already,
*full celestial but use boon/condi duration food/sigils/runes
*mix celestial with other 4 stat sets that have concentration and/or expertise
Boon/Condi duration is currently most efficient when gotten through food/runes/sigils. Concentration/Expertise are inefficient stats in a hybrid build.
Wow that trait doesn’t look half bad now. +X seconds? +10 vulnerability? That’s pretty solid once you take +% condition duration into account.
Rangers use longbow because it is the only ranged power weapon. 4 of its 5 skills are lolprojectiles. Hammer has cleave and non-projectile attacks so ya it’s better for roaming where it’s often outnumbered. Alot of druids went staff as a longbow replacement because in practice it is a better weapon due to reflects.
A good amount of Rangers do use either longbow #3 (Hunter Shot) or one trap to set stealth, and then use longbow #4 (Point Blank Shot) or the pet jump paired with the trait which roots on knockback to to inmobilize the target and get an easy burst with lb #2 or bristleback attacks. Due the stealth, they can make hard to prevent with blocks or evades the lb #4 + root combo.
HoT came with a lot of “projectile hate” which made hard the life of some ranged weapons, but due the traits of the class Ranger’s longbow is far from being a bad weapon. Here’s Lord Hizen crushing half of Cake Walk at duels using a Ranger with staff + longbow:
I would love to see hammer Rev as competitive, but I think that isn’t possible.
Nobody said longbow was bad and nobody cares about that Barbie guild.
(edited by Justine.6351)
Hammer rev makes a better ranged dps than longbow ranger.
…And yet longbow Ranger is better at roaming, duelling and PvP than hammer Rev. The (longbow or shortbow) Rev for the next expansion will be focused in ranged condition or hybrid damage, something that currently the hammer con’t provide to the Rev.
If you say so.
Is not a me. Is what it is. I known that you’re a fairly good Rev player and I like your hammer videos but even you must agree that some of those players you crush 1 vs n are mediocre.
I saw almost every 1 vs 1 tournament hosted by Jebro and I saw a fair amount of skilled Druids using longbow and winning duels vs hard opponents. I saw a good amount of skilled Revs in those matches (some of them defeating skilled players using natural hardcounters as condi Chronomancers and chill Reapers) and not a single one did wield a hammer. The same in the World Championships and the Pro League.
If hammer was a good weapon at PvP, duelling or roaming you should see that reflected in the game, which isn’t the case. Yes, is fun vs baddies and unaware targets, but as soon as you hit some challenging player it becomes subpar. As the condi buids. And that’s the reason due nex weapon will be a condi/hybrid ranged sort of bow, instead a greatsword or something else.

Every decent necromancer will be drooling over that telegraphed SotP cast.
I love necro and I am a huge fan of condi necro in particular, but it is shocking to me that people try and defend the trait in its current form.
Ya it was the same thing with 10second druid celestial avatar. People were defending that garbage as legit play. So glad I don’t play druid anymore, they could get the SMC legendary lord as a pet and they would still cry druids need buffs.
YOU can shutdown WvW anytime you like.
It’s called PvE or logout.
they increased the range on head butt.
GW2 has the second best underwater content in an MMO (that I have played). I wouldn’t mind seeing it updated and expanded upon.
What is the better one? Is it good game I can play?
It is kind of hard to select someone that is significant in some way that is not already a member of something with heavy responsibility/obligations.
I guess I would invite Lord Faren since he isn’t a member of anything atm.
PvP Wings are NOT a mark of skill any more than WvW Rank Tiers are.
A good roamers needs,
average experience, a carry build, map awareness and determination.
Any thing above and/or in addition to those things will just make your play time miserable with opponents who will logout leaving the map dead, hide in walled objectives or outnumber you with 2:1 ratio.
I like demon grub pit.
All of the new ones are just too long for me to even want to try them.
Mystic Clovers have a 10x recipe. Not sure why anyone would need to craft them unless they don’t wvw/spvp I suppose.
The gw1 wiki was used heavily as a sort of forum.
Get the berserker exotic gear from wherever in dungeons/karma vendors/stat selector gear and such. Get the ascended berserker trinkets from fractals/wvw/new maps and such. Put runes of strength on the armor. Use Hammer/X with major sigil of force and superior sigil of accuracy. Get Chocolate Omnomberry Cream food. Use shiro/glint and go crazy. Shouldn’t cost you above 15g if you play for the setup and buy the 6 runes.
Great tips! Thank you. I had a feeling I was way too unfocused in my build.
Is there a point in running Druid and going for damage? From what I understand Druid is very much a support class, so should I just stick to Ranger?
Thank you again. Very helpful.
I figured you wouldn’t want to drop druid but if you don’t play with others you can drop it for beast mastery. Not sure how easy it will be to play without druid heals though.
Make it pierce and also grant buff of 1 block (5sec) per each target struck. Use the skill’s icon on the buff bar with a number counter to keep track of remaining blocks.
Isn’t the whole Balthazar plot about him regaining his godliness?
I think Rytlock would be pretty epic for a new God though ;-)
You are running too tanky and too unfocused for general pve.
Go for damage by stacking damage modifiers. Make sure you are utilizing pierce when using Rapid Fire not only for the damage but also to get vulnerability stacks on everything. Honestly I would even consider dumping staff for sword/axe for heavy cleave and more vulnerability.
There is a lot of stuff I don’t like atm but I don’t think there is anything supremely broken right now that pulls ahead of everything else.
If you small scale for 30min you can expect to see,
reaper
druid
berserker
chrono
if you small scale for 60min you can also expect to see,
dragon hunter
daredevil
tempest
if you small scale for several hours you will get some representation of all the classes.
If I had to choose a class to play every night in small scale and only that class forever, it would be reaper. Aoe boon corruption does a lot of work in small scale.
dude, you should know if you read the forums that ranger is not dps class and druid even less so. And ranger has never had an option for condi, Justine’s build was more like one trick pony against extreme glass players.
Right…
Full concentration gear + sigil of concentration +food will give you 90%. Nobody notices the difference between 90% and 100%.
Tap the jump key, don’t mash it.
guys i don’t understand your english.
You ask anywhere in reddit and everybody agree condi druid is top cake! most dps! immortal!!easy wins because druid carry all the zerg! ( Irenios words ).
hamrolf rev is still easier than druid. No druid however competent is, goes full glass with druid.
hamrolf rev can pull that build out because the insane dps it can bring. It’s like fighting a riffle warrior, if you get crits of 4,5k AA every second plus 15k every 2 seconds it is impossible for a ranger to have enough time to kill anything. But again justine knows it just he just wants everybody to go for the faceroll hamrev. But of course hamlol rev can’t carry as much against a theeth or a perma block and stun guarrior.
Somebody died to a hammer rev recently.
Revs used to be OP as all hell, now they’re free bags. They’re just awful.
That trapper Justine killed seemed to be glass and pretty incompetent to boot. A dire or apothecary condi druid is going to be nearly unkillable.
When is the last time you have seen a competent druid/trapper druid solo roaming in wvw? Is the OP going to be competent enough to play full traps?
I mean think about it, no signet of stone, no protection. Garbage AF generation.
(edited by Justine.6351)
This vid, in a nutshell, is why trapper rangers are bad,
https://youtu.be/TjpLeCE8bfYFYI,
I’m running full berserker except my magi staff which has a sigil of cleansing. Between that and renewing wave I have no other Condi removal.Ew, a revenant.
As it is said,
If you think rev is so op then play one. You will go crawling back to carry druid within a week.

There are some good and bad things,
-not having to worry about leaving a map and then having to que to return
-skill lag
-not having a map to go to without a que present
-lower overall population cap
the big plus is getting everyone onto the same map so there isn’t que fighting over who goes to which map and not being able to help a map because it has que already. Unfortunately the cons out weigh it.
I liked FoW in gw1 because it wasn’t so hard that only the best could complete it. Also there was mob diversity making it more interesting.
You were proven wrong before Justine. Human ruins are all throughout Tyria. They consist of a good majority of the ruins in the Caledon Forest, even the roads there are humans. All the ruins in Ascalon are that of humans. There are Dwarven and Human ruins in the Shiverpeaks… as for the Kryta (The Last Stronghold of Humanity in TYRIA)… ha.
Let’s not even get on about Elona, where humanity tamed the rivers themselves, built cities to rival that of any of the elder races. Or lordy, dare us to talk about the Grand continent of Cantha, where humanity truly reigned supreme.
Unless you completely ignore every single map in GW1 and go about absolutely blind to human ruins throughout Guild Wars 2, then there isn’t even room to argue about human superiority Pre and Post Exodus of the Gods. The Charr didn’t defeat humanity, the Titans did. And the Titans did it through the Charr, while the Gods were no longer watching. Imagine the Roman Empire as Ascalon and one day the Germanic Tribes (Charr) developed a Nuclear Bomb and honestly didn’t care where they used said bombs. That was the type of War between humanity and the charr, and without the power of the Titans the Charr would still be nomadic nobodies behind a wall talking about that never to arrive day where they would reclaim the lands of their ancestors.
Races in Tyria are absolutely Xenophobic. Humanity are/were Xenos. If they weren’t aggressive about their colonies, they would have been committed to Genocide. Take for example the Tengu in Cantha. Treaties were made and broken, over and over again by different Tengu tribes against the humans. At some point, humanity lost all confidence in the Tengu and started to perform massive cleansing sweeps of genocide against them. The Centaurs have always been extremely territorial, and not just towards humans. Even the Dwarves had issues with Centaurs long before humanity push into Centaur Country. Human in their Golden Age, simply put the stop to the Roaming Centaur tribes. Same can be said for the Charr.
You only own something for as long as you can hold onto it. Nothing, including land, is inherently yours if you lack the strength to keep it. The Jotun and Norn had their favor of the ‘Human Gods’ and the Jotun, at least, squandered the power they were granted. So entered humanity, which did, in fact, shove modern civilization down the throats of the barbarians in Tyria.
No point in trying to debate someone whose position suggests that genocide is justified by “civilizing”.
I still believe that the human gods as a pantheon, are from multiple worlds and/or from the mists. Tyria isn’t native to them, and yet they did make it better. You could think of humanity as the Roman Empire. They built the roads, marked the boundaries and explored the frontiers. They pretty much civilized a portion of Tyria that was wilderness, and it really was. The Charr were not advanced at the time of human discovery, the same goes for the Centaur, the Ogres or the Trolls. With the exception of the Norn, Jotun & Asura which just are what they are, humanity brought the idea of grand civilization to the wretches of Surface Tyria.
On that note, Balthazar has always been a Antihero rather than a loving or caring god. He is the God of War, after all. Like most Gods of War, he isn’t exactly the most reliable or nicest god in the world— but he did have grand plans for humanity and after the conflict with Abbadon, there was obviously a decision between all the Six to put an end to their forced civilization of the World.
The human gods undid the efforts of the Seerers, Forgotten, Dwarves and Jotun by messing with the bloodstones. These races and the Mursaat were indeed civilized before the human gods brought the humans to tyria. And realize that the charr and centuar would have probably advanced if the humans didn’t sort of just exterminate them where ever they settled.
“When the Elder Dragons last rose, the jotun, like the other races of the world, possessed the ability to use magic with no restrictions until the Seers sealed it all within the Bloodstone. They survived the Elder Dragons’ rise due to being hidden by Glint along with the Seers, dwarves, and Forgotten.
According to Thrulnn the Lost, before their fall the jotun and norn were favored by the Six Human Gods and granted magic that led the races to prominence. He refers to this time as the Age of Giants. In time, their power came to rival that of the gods themselves, who began to fear that the jotun would use magic against them. The jotun giant-kings, confused and enraged, turned on one another, and the gods abandoned them, taking their magic away and handed it over to other races, causing the crumbling of jotun civilization. However, Elder Thruln and Priory scholars offer a different explanation for the jotun’s fall. They say that the jotun became too prideful and sought to make their own tribes superior, bringing the tribes into civil war out of their pride and greed. From this same pride and greed, the jotun are said to never marry outside of their tribe, and some Priory scholars mention that based on their ancient monuments, modern Jotun are far uglier than their ancient forebears as well.
Whichever story is more truthful, after the Exodus of the Gods, the jotun regained the ability to use magic in its less potent form. However, their lore-keepers, sages, and mystics had largely been killed off and the knowledge of using their old magic and technology became lost to them, leaving only the monuments and citadels behind as the race fell from power over the centuries."
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jotun#History
And no, the Charr were Nomadic Barbarians, same for the centaur. It’s a life, but it isn’t civilization. Building on cities on the scale of the humans didn’t occur until… well the humans. If it was not for the GUILD WARS, who knows where the lore would have went. However the GUILD WARS, set humanity into a downhill spiral. Your character in GW1 isn’t a Hero, he is an Antihero. He puts the world in danger and saves the world. Hell in Prophecies he/she does both! GW1 was obviously the last Golden Era** for humanity— and yet no matter where you go in Tyria, you run into HUMAN Ruins.
What are even going on about?
Many of the ruins ingame are not human. Have you even heard of the dwarves? Or even the asura? The humans were a plague on the inhabitants of tyria, just ask the centuar/charr/tengu/forgotten/mursaat. And don’t get me started on the human gods. I mean lol, ever heard of the crystal desert/desolation?
Denying mesmers from hiding was a good change. That’s coming from a mesmer who used to steal keeps at the extreme, enemy taking an enemies keep.
?
I suppose Epidemic, not that I ever use it.
