A few trait changes to help underpowered staff,

Primal Echoes: Reduces recharge of all skills by 1 second for each foe you pass through with Ancestral Grace. Foes that pass through your Sublime Conversion are dazed and your Ancestral Grace is recharge by 3 seconds per foe affected.

Natural Stride: Ancestral Grace range increased to 2k range and it’s travel time increased to 2 seconds. Breaks stun and removes all conditions from allies you pass through. No longer requires line of sight to cast.

Lingering Light: Astral Wisp causes 5 stacks of burning for 5 seconds and has an increased projectile speed 3×. Solar Beam causes 3 stacks of burning for 5 seconds on targets affected by Astral Wisp. Burning now scales with Power.

Suggesting changes to a few traits to make venoms better,

Last Refuge: when you enter downed state, activate all instant cast venoms. Each venom charge now affects all targets struck with a single aoe attack.

Leeching Venoms: Venoms steal life and cause 5% damage and heal for 5% life. Venom recharges reduced by 10% and an additional 5% per ally affected. Increases number of allies affected by Venoms to 10.

Cloaked in Shadow: Venoms radius increased to 1200 radius and now grant stealth and super speed for 3 seconds. Venoms convert 1 condition into 1 boon and grants 1 stability for 5 seconds to all affected allies.

Suggesting trait changes to help improve staff play,

Soul Marks: Now makes Necrotic Grasp unblockable and Necrotic Grasp will cast one random mark on target if it strikes more than one foe.

Fear of Death: Marks now pulse 3 times in total. Using Necrotic Grasp increases the size of your marks by 100 radius stacking up to 5 times. Resets if a mark is triggered.

Dhuumfire: Whenever one of your marks is evaded, that foe and all foes with 360 radius of them receive 3 stacks of burning for 5 seconds. When you apply burning, each stack causes 2 stacks of confusion for 5 seconds. If a target is already burning and suffering from confusion, causes 2 stacks of torment for 5 seconds.

Nah I think energy should decay to zero out of combat so you have to build it up just like adrenaline. Its too op right now and needs to be nerfed. Also wouldn’t hurt to increase the energy cost of some of the weapon skills like staff 4. Right now revs can remove TWO conditions with a 1sec cast-time skill. I don’t get how that hasn’t been rebalanaced to 25e yet. My condi reaper can barely stack condi on revenant because of that skill being spammable every 15seconds.

It’s fine but it could be quite a bit better. I’d boost necro to 80 tbh.

To piggyback on what mirkava said,
Before crafting full celestial go ahead and mix any random exotics you get ahold of. That’s pretty much celestial but less efficient. If you decide to use celestial then don’t make exotic versions. It’s a waste of resources. If you need information on how to obtain ascended gear cheap and reasonably quickly post in the general forum or perhaps in the WvW forum.

“Imbue yourself with your pet’s power”
-No longer have a pet companion but deal 20% more damage.
I would totally run that.

I always laugh when I have to admit to chat
“Sorry, I Ranger-ed that up.” when my pet runs in and ruins whatever we’re doing.

I’d like to believe you know what set pet to passive does.

Scepter or Axe for Condi Roaming?

Without a doubt scepter is best for condi builds. Personally I would never drop scepter for axe when running condi and honestly I would drop staff over scepter if I’m hybrid.

Staff is a great utility weapon, but imo especially if you aren’t running soul reaping (which in my builds I do not) you’re better off taking either gs or axe for the boon corrupts.

As for armor, carrion/tb mix might be best for roaming if you want a hybrid feel. Or mix vipers, carrion, and tb. I personally think cele wastes too many stats on necro to be worth it. You gain very little from healing power, toughness isn’t nearly as good as vit on necro (vit adds to your total lf pool as well so it double counts), ferocity is ok but you’re better off with just higher power, and precision is needed but you only need around 20% to be effective.

Celestial is bad for Condi builds but is pretty much BiS for forward play on power/hybrid when not playing staff/soul reaping.

And for roaming, castrating your damage output for slightly more burst corruption is a terrible idea.

I was thinking an actually good reaper build that uses both Condi, power and boon corrupts not some trailblazer trash looking to tag loot so I guess if someone going Condi only ya scepter would be best to get numbers.

What makes reaper so strong right now is the impact you can have while being a complete and total braindead player. Regardless of if this/the other thread conveyed this, a totally new player can have the largest impact in small scale and zerging fights by making a reaper getting reaper runes and full dire and just spamming abilities. It snowballs fights well, requires minimal thought behind skill usage, and doesn’t have diminishing returns based on how many reapers are around you.

The heart of the problem is the lack of diminishing returns for deathly chill. It doesn’t matter if its 1 necro or 20, they all are applying the 3 bleeds per chill application. This promotes the meta we’re seeing now with reapers being one of the most popular professions especially in zergs. This meta simply isn’t healthy for wvw imo whatever aspect of the gamemode you play.

I made this thread because you claim condi necro is super op and needs a nerf. Then you post a video showing said results. Said video shows you downing the first necro only to be attacked by 2 necros and killed with relative ease. That would happen to anyone, regardless of their skill. Not because condi necro is super op but because you were already half health, 1 heal skill on cooldown and then got jumped by 2 players.

because you and so many others didnt understand i explain it here too,

there was 4 reapers and of 4 players, that would never have happened 6 months ago. Its an obvious shift in class participation brought on how easy and rewarding reaper is.

One way they could handle it is,

Combine,

Rank bonus pips
Out numbered bonus pips
Server loyalty pips

Under one cap of 10 and allow server loyalty pips to accumulate each month.

So in 10 months you could be on a not outnumbered map with rank 9 and still get +10 pips so long as you have been on said server for 10 months.

Idk just a thought.

I project 40% participation will become a more regular sight. Doom and gloom I know but its just what I’m feeling. Reaper like you said is popular for many reasons, it is also the answer to boon meta which recently got nerfed with the stab pulsing nerf sweep. I’m not sure replacing boon meta with reaper meta is going to be to any ones liking.

If anything its about 20% now, taking a decent raid into account, often there will be 10 necro. I don’t see it growing beyond that, I think you have dived into the realm of exaggeration pretty heavily tbh.

I think I said small scale of 5-20 some where, 20% of something = 10 is like a zerg of 50. No one cares what zergs of 50 do and has never been a good judge on healthy class participation. I mean like if there was 1 in 5 as reaper, or 2 in 10 as reaper or 3 in 15 as reaper or 4 in 20 as reaper it would just mean reaper has a spot in the 1:5 ratio for party and sub parties in squad. Its not uncommon to see 2:5, 3:10 5:15 ratios atm. I cant imagine trying to play wvw with a ratio of 3:5, 5:10, 7:15 (strm has this on occasion). I think its pretty naive to call it exaggeration when in the past 6 months its gone from maybe a 1:5 ratio or less to a 3:10 ratio or more. Probably not a coincidence considering thats ~ when deathly chill trait was buffed.

I’m not understanding your stance on not being able to swap characters, you absolutely can swap with no loss of participation.

A moderately efficient roamer shouldn’t have too much problem getting 1-2 ranks per hour.

One trick you might do is not just camp/sentry/yaks but also KILL a few npcs at keep and tower gates so when a zerg rolls through you get credit if they flip it without actually having to stand around for 5-30min.

And whats worse is that every reaper knows this is exactly what the class has been reduced to now. I have a reaper as well. Ok, but there are a herds of elephants in this game due to many factors… You could run down a huge list of major issues with this game, so it’s kind of unfair to peg it on 1 profession.

It isn’t fair but its the easiest to see. I’m seeing a lot of 5-20 group play that has reapers over the 30% threshold of participation. Any one who has fought STRM&pugs during night time knows what I’m talking about with our often 5-7 reapers in a squad of 15-20. I think its getting worse now and this encounter I had with 4 random reapers would not have happened 6 months ago. What is it going to be like in another 6 months?

It’s straight up +25% damage increase, if you have no ferocity and no other crit chance, while in shroud. I imagine that pretty good for cleaving downed people idk.

Vid was more about the ratio. I toggle through 4 enemy players, all reapers. The reaper I downed was actually playing power that why he got hit so hard.

Oh and I wasn’t upset, no way do I expect to fight 4 reapers in a small space and walk away. Just disappointed so many players picking up reaper cause it the new bearbow.

Ya its weird atm because its like luck, they just didn’t think people would unlock them all eventually?

But I think some are over thinking it with guaranteed dye unlock things (not a bad idea), just salvage the dye you get and move on. Its not like you lost anything because the dye achieved is account bound anyhow.

These were meant to be a gift not the main source of rare dye unlocks.

Dagger 2 and dagger 3 are just not good enough in wvw due to short range and long cast times. I ended up dumping dagger/x for gs.

Axe is just miles ahead of dagger.

This is a long vid for saying “stack mobs around an object and smash buttons hard”.

There is so much more to know, like,
What all will cause swords
how to avoid yak spawns
The most likely routes defenders will use to enter a camp
What skills each npc uses

8 minutes is not that long. He tries to show the best place for each camp to stack them. Why are we giving this guy crap for trying to help new players? I don’t get it.

I think many of you have forgotten what it was like to be totally new to the mode.

I’m not “giving him crap”. Even PvEers know how to stack npcs and nuke them since like the beginning of mmo history. Everything WvW specific he should have covered about camp flipping he didnt, and it took 8min to not cover those things.

Some people missed it,

The ecto refinement was meant to gate the sale of stuff like del steel ingot and damask to help keep them marketable. To craft marks it takes the ecto refined items, not the sellable t7 stuff. The marks themselves are account bound.

I’m not an expert on the spvp/fractal merchants though so maybe it is different for us wvw people?

Within a month any points you wanted to place somewhere, but “messed up” and put somewhere else, you can gain in new ranks.

Just realize that ~250 well spent points is all any player really needs to max out the important stuff.

Like Famine said. I use the ABC’s (always be casting), if you realize you are being kited, swap weapons and use something that can hit whether it is range, spectral grasp is a good utility as well. Or simply disengage and wait for them to come to you

They should make the acquisition flatline instead of increasing and then remove cap. People afk grind not just because it easy but also because it is practically trained into them with the “must get” cap that requires some serious grind.
