Deathly Chill Nerf

So for those that don’t know, Deathly Chill will be nerfed upon the release of PoF but Reaper will be buffed significantly. So we will basically be getting Scourge as our condi/support spec, and Reaper as our power spec.

So, as a condi Reaper who spent a lot of time/gold getting full ascended Viper stats it’s a big FU…got it.

So glad I didn’t preorder…

Two things you can do
1) Convert your ascended viper gear to power gear
2) Power through high level fractals and/or WvW like a crazy person to get both power and condi gear

Trust me when I say your first full ascended set will be your hardest, it gets easier from there.

Edit: I doubt the nerf will make deathly chill useless. The sheer fact that you can use two skills to stack tons of chill, bleed, and poison at once is what makes it so OP.

From the looks of the WP video, its going back to 1 bleed stack.

How many times can it be said,

He was in the spvp area, it’s already 1 stack in spvp. So nobody knows yet what pve/wvw deathly chill will get changed to, if at all.

There is already a very obvious animation for the ground cascade. And no, it certainly does not need a longer recharge or energy cost.

It could be more obvious with taller animation on the ground. Right now there isn’t a reason to not cast CoR on recharge. I play a lot of Hammer rev, I’d wrather CoR have more animation, double recharge and triple cost than its damage gutted. With of coarse an improvement to its cascade attack, that frequently fails, as a compromise.

I was against tying pets stats with player gear but once every druid started playing that lame bunker staff pet build I have switched opinion. Although I must admit I have not seen many staff bunker druids lately in wvw.

That’s something I can get behind – rune of the scholar or not.

And that reason is because of druid easy heal to full bunker stuff. I’m actually surprised to see fewer bunker druids in wvw now though, not sure what class they all went to. Maybe condi reapers idk.

Here you have little children: the rifle warrior, more damage (3k crits autos) plus extreme Usain Bolt speed with GS and lets not forget all the imunities as usual, range is close enough 1200 vs 1500, in a heavy armor class plus an small AOE and the most important thing: no trench coats

This can oneshot even guardians or revs, not only glass thieves like the OP’s video shows (although is so much fun to watch )

Now i’d like to see the core ranger to excel just at one thing. Just one thing.

Lets not forget ranger was the only class which was always insta-kicked in dungeons parties.

Either you don’t WvW or idk something because gunflame was nerfed. That vid is from 2015.

Good fights as always. You guys really make it look easy.
And I used to think your opponents were easy.
But when I actually fought you guys, I realized I was as easy looking as those opponents on your video XD
Like my friend who always reminds me when I get critical of others, good players have a tendency to make their opponents look average.

Been wanting to ask though, your thoughts on what mix of classes would you recommend to have in a 5-man group comp for roaming and fighting outnumbered? I noticed at least in your latest video that you were without a Revenant which I’ve been hearing from others that they are one of the best class to have in a roaming party currently.

Rev does a alot of damage if builted right, ive seen 20k to zerkers, and 10k-15k to tanky builds… and add some more 2-4k from flame blast proc sigil on autos alone… its alot of aoe/cleave damage…

Still the output damage(current easy achievable power creep trough condi or raw) is not the only problem:

As much Anet needs to reduce the overall aoes/cleave spams at least from auto atacks, more some AOE gorund skills need better animation to be noticeable, players with graphics maxed it is like looking directly to a flashligh, if reduced some skills are not much noticeable due animation gets motsly invisble…its stupid….. what is the point?
The game would be less laggy more balanced… at least with AA’s not cleaving with exception a few weapons like ele staff and necros, and lootstick for guards.

When theres to much skills being spammed CoR and some other skills are the least one to get rendered or are just noticeable by the values apearing on the combat console and health magically drops out of no where, “oh i lost arround 10k must be a cor rev, let me look to the console to see what is happening to me….”

rendering priorities to avoid huge fps drops? seriously it feels like it….. and CoR needs to be a priority to be rendered…

CoR needs like 10sec recharge 15e cost. An animation for the ground cascade would be good too. But they also need to clean up the skills attack so it isn’t constantly failing.

New Expansion, Mounts for WvW and Housing?!

So with new expansion incoming and likely mounts too, do you think we will get mounts in wvw like rangers can get pets there? Also I was thinking maybe we will get player housing in the citadel, like little apartments to store mounts. Maybe even player housing in the towers and keeps so when an enemy flips the keep you cannot reuturn to your house to switch mounts. Would give incentive to hold objectives and also flip them so you could steal people’s mounts and any decorations they have like silverware. Would also be a good place to reinstate crafting stalls.

I think these features would be great to draw in pvers and pvpers alike as fights over the best houses would break out all over the map. Thinking a bidding game where highest bidder of the month gets to 1v1 the current owner best of 5, and players can also hire other players as their champion for gold.

Idk I just can’t wait for mounts and player housing in wvw !!!

I mean Rev is a pretty bad class as is. This class got stuck as a boon support side-kick DPS and fails to excel as a true damage dealer other than hammer 2.

So i’m not sure how many more nerfs rev can take without being relegated to an even more support / ignored role.

I’d really like to see where these claims about ranger 12k autos are coming from, though. Even a 12k RF is high.

Hammer rev in respects to CoR, much like most of rev, needs a re-design. Numbers changes won’t fix hammer because it’s terrible in the 1v1.

That said, Hammer Bolt does need a nerf of some kind to its damage. This shouldn’t happen against an ascended/maxed medium player with an AA from 1500 away. As you can see the rest of the damage I was taking was totally normal so it’s not like I was missing armor or anything to be deceptive on the screen. I’m a ridiculously durable thief as well with +8k health; That AA would have likely one-shotted an exotic-wearing thief in non-toughness/vit gear.

I guess ranger longbow must be op too because there is a build that can put out 10k AA.

I can honestly say I have never seen this, nor when I was playing my own power ranger build (pumping out as much damage while camping LB), My AA’kitten maybe ~5-6k tops when I crit. This is one of those “unless you show me the build in action, I can’t believe it”.

I take that statement to mean that any updates they have for WvW, will not require players to have to wait for something like an expansion. So if they have something to release they will just release it as part of normal updates, most likely alongside future Living story episodes every couple of months.

Its just weird to keep waiting for it, that kind of BIG update for WvW with new content. How many more months for it? Especially since he used the word big to describe it, and as far as WvW was concerned, it wasnt that big. And I dont think I am being too critical of it, but it felt like a reskinned PvP pip system. I am thinking new content as in new siege, new maps, new mechanics etc.

They have tried and tried to add those 3 things since hot and they end up removing them because people kitten, whine and cry about them.

Do you think they have stopped developing those things altogether? If so, it just diminishes any remaining hype I have for the game/game mode. I was hoping that the expansion would spark that hype again.

I think they will keep developing with the people they have. I do not think they will ever dump resources into it like the DBL launch though.

I’m hoping for a tropical beach type wvw map with palm trees, sand, blue waters, rocky cliff shores, sink holes, shallows and whatnot. Alpine isn’t so successful merely because of its layout, it’s a very chill map environment.

No, at swc a mes, a thief and my rev were testing the south part of the wall for teleporting after mes complained. My rev couldn’t use ambients to get into camp either. Something is different.

Shortbow!? Hmm, I guess as long as it’s not a condition-focused shortbow then I can use it. I’m a longbow fan all the way.

Pretty sure it will have a condi theme. Maybe if you are lucky it will have power heavy scaling with condi focused traits to make it viable in any type of damage build.

Idk why people complain about dire/trailblazer. Those stats don’t put 10 stacks of burn, 20 stacks of confusion, 30 stacks of bleed or nearly every condi in the game on a player in a second. Nor do they grant them more dodges, blocks or invulnerability.

Not really because it doesn’t help everyone that you don’t take damage for 6 seconds. Signet of renewal should be stapled to the skill bar of every zerging ranger, and maybe their forehead too.

Thank you, i had pack before and i was told to switch by my ex-commander after the initial nerf of them. As for Justine’s build im going to stick with my zerker armor, as it is always a good set and the gold cost to make them is too high for me to make another set. i was slowly switching my trinkets over to make up for what i was lacking in sustain. For food im using can of asparagus and sage salad(50% chance to gain swiftness when killing a foe, +4% damage while moving) as its cheap and i can use the wvw currency for it. I was thinking about trying out the shout build but dont know anyone who tried it.

I run celestial shouts with a focus on power and boon corruption. If deathly chill wasn’t so strong I would probably start converting some/more pieces to berserker and berserker/valk. Axe is monstrous for carving up ele and guards.

People pretend as if gear stats will close the disparity in builds and player skill level.

The only gear disparity that should be relevant is exotic vs ascended for power builds. Sadly it’s a Condi fest which makes gear stat irrelevant. Of course there is also rares vs ascended because people are apparently too poor at the game to get exotics.

There are exotic vendors in wvw and there are also now ascended vendors in wvw who hand out HoT stats for breathing.

Agree. Got so frustrated using my main (Ranger) I just forced quit out to take a break. Come back to try again and it’s the same old garbage, start from the beginning , redo previous test, can’t skip cut scenes. Guess I’ll grab my warrior or just forget about it for a while. Hope the exp doesn’t continue with this.

It’s one of the easiest fights in the game. Interact with the NPCs to gain a special action ability, then simply kill it. Ignoring that mechanic and brute forcing it is the optional achievement.

Without any idea you can even interact with the npcs, its the most garbage encounter ingame.

Keeping staff/wells in a power build this is what I came up with. Instead of cleansing or transfering, it converts conditions into boons with an additional +45% boon duration.

If you take 2 wells in your build you might as well take 4 and trait it. Well of Power is too good of a utility skill to ignore in a Well build.

Personally, I think Its pretty easy to dodge out of the way of coalescence or ruin.

The funny thing is you don’t even have to dodge it. Just strafe. Not even joking, it will miss everytime on someone strafing.

Most people that die to CoR were most likely either

1.) Already low on health, and anything would have killed them
2.) Tried to facetank the enemy, and would have been cleaved by anything
3.) Standing still.

It was once a BS skill, but post nerf it seems fairly managable.

Also note that while you could probably hit random stragglers for 12k, in practice it may be a little less due to easy tempest aoe protection, frost aura and also random rite of the great dwarf and whatever voodoo invul is around these days.

Finally, in big groups, it is not just about numbers. Sacrificing group survival for more personal dps can work, but it may also have indirect effects when your own people drop and end up rallying the people you just downed.

That being said, I guess hammer could use a rework since it is just a zerg weapon atm.

And that’s kinda the thing. It’s super easy to avoid in small-scale or 1v1 but the visual clutter from everything going on in a ZvZ with the skill having no reflect/deflect and the likes just lets it drop five people out of nowhere every four seconds.

Hammer just needs a rework in its entirety.

No, you focus on either condi or power. There is no such thing as a “mix” build

I’ve seen a lot of Reapers have great success in the dueling scene/WvW with hybrid Axe/WH/Staff (Spite/X/Reaper.) But WvW offers greater stat mixing options, so it probably isn’t as strong in sPvP when you’d have to do like Destroyers + Adventurers to get a squishier version of it.

I have tried the destroyers amulet build in PvP and it’s very good when it cones to damage!
But the defense are nearly not existing, so only running a shout build for “Rise!” and Death Magic for toughness gives the build a bit of breath.

With low health pool I was running Curses, Death Magic and Reaper (might stacking only up to 18) with GS Axe/WH, doing well in 1vs1 but without chances in 1vs2.

What can be a good WvW stats mix for it? Celestial/Sinister with reaper’s runes?

I’m not sure what the cool kids use, but I’d imagine a mix of Berserkers and like Trailblazers and Carrion for Condi + Toughness/Vitality depending on what they think they’re going to be engaging. (Or just durability runes instead)

Never Celestial for Reapers though anymore, healing power scales very badly with our healing and is almost wasted stats compared to any other option.

You don’t use celestial on reaper for the healing stat, you use it for the other 6.

My current wvw lineup I play, with full ascended,

Boon glamor chrono
Glass hammer herald
Boon corrupt reaper
Burn support dh

Been working this warrior forever but for some reason never tried hammer. Realized the brilliance of the hot sigils with hammer. Was using the banner of tactics but on dropping that it feels kind of fun as I’m not chained to that. It will never replace something like ele but it’s not supposed to. A build for warriors who may not simply understand how they can function in a zerg cooperatively.

That’s part of the problem currently, people play bad zerging builds because they enjoy playing a class that no one will make a competent build for as “x class is not meta”.

Hello,

Been working passively on a Healing Shout Warrior for maybe a year.
It utilizes Shouts, Hammer, Sword/Warhorn with a split of magi/cleric and a berserker hammer.
There are some variants I might try like Stomp for stab/cc/mobility. I moved away from warbanner as it is a long cd and long cast time making it kind of bad imo. So I picked up runes of surging and signet of rage for more rupts with hammer. Another option I’m considering is human elite grenth form for some debuffs.

If only it was true… sadly, birds still use quickening screech, devourer still flee under earth and knock back their foe for no reason, bear still waste their invuln skill… etc.

Devourer would have been a more commonly used pet if it chose to knockback on swap instead of prioritizing the evade away skill. A shame really.

No, of the Six Gods who “left Tyria,” Abaddon stayed behind. Of course we destroyed him and replaced him with Kormir in Nightfall… but I fully expect ANET to bring Abaddon back with some machination… maybe for giggles they’ll rehash Shiro also.

It would be poor form to undermine gw1 player accomplishments.
