Menace, we have made it pretty obvious that we are getting tired of this. And I for one don’t believe you have been creating builds or even playing Mesmer long enough to post one build on the Mesmer Forums let alone post the 3 you have posted in the past what? 2 weeks? Also you might want to listen to some of these people including Pyro. They have been at it a long time and are some of the most knowledgeable people when it comes to building a Mesmer. So please give it a rest.

I updated the build to reflect the changes made from your suggestions ans my testing! It now has less HP and less roughness but much higher damage stats! I also changed it to 10/30/30/0/0 for the clone on dodge roll allowing this to be more effective at shatters.

Omega siege rushes. Ruining wvw

- Reflects own omegas. So abilities like feed back are really useful. If you have enough Mesmers casting feedback on that omega stack it’ll at the very least slow them down, maybe even destroy them. I used it before on a large 12 omega rush one time. Worked wonders and we held them off till help arrived because of it.

If you want a jack of all trades, you want to be a Mesmer. Trust me when I say we have the most build diversity out there. We can be as tanky as a guardian or as damaging as a thief. We do suffer from being slow compered to the rest of the other classes.

If this build is just meant to survive, you won’t be surviving very long. But if it modified to do other things whilst surviving (like more damage) it would be pretty good I think.

Then again, I’m judging just by seeing, not by playing so… shrug

I don’t see your reasoning here? Its made with high toughness and high amounts of condition removal so it pretty much has the 2 bases covered on top of that you have the distortions from the signets adding to its survival. While you don’t heave stealth they can continue to focus you, by no means will you go down easy.

P.S. I also gave 10/30/30/0/0 a try. It is defiantly a bit more damaging due to the extra crit chance and crit damage And the extra clone summons I can do pretty effective shatters.

Narsil, I can actually play om the front lines with guardians and warriors in zergs, though this build does have issues being hard focused in small level group combat due to its lack of stealth, but it lasts long enough that your group will hopefully kill them before they kill you. You will get focused due to the idea of “oh look its a non-stealth Mesmer, easy kill.” That many groups appear to have. (this build is tanky and will still last a long time even under great amounts of pressure.) as for the spvp. Lets just say…. I have some one on it. muahahahahahahaha.

Method to decide the Leagues

I’ve consistently said we are doing 2 leagues in NA and 3 in EU. The leagues will be broken up strictly by world rating at the conclusion of the matchup prior to the league start.

The WvW Community has consistently said your ideas are bad.

You’re gonna get Jay Wilson’d if you keep it up.

Let’s face it, you’re going to have to consolidate servers here pretty soon. The lower tiers are dead, and I mean dead. I recently transferred off of one because we roamed for 2 hours and didn’t see a single player.

4 Leagues, possibly 3 when you decide it’s time to merge Anvil Rock, Devona’s, and Fergs.

Ferg can beat ET and has Proven it a number of times, ET is just good at leaching points off of larger server to the point they might beat them in a larger match up giving them just enough rating to stay ahead of us, so you might want to rethink that.

The population Imbalances across 6 servers isn’t so bad, a smaller server at that point could rally to defeat a larger server at that point but when they are 12 ranks above you there is little hope which will lead to larger stacking and smaller servers who will be getting smaller getting stomped.

Alternative: 30 in dueling could have deceptive evasion, only swap Chaos IV with V.

Could also run boon duration food for 90% boon duration. You’re going to be taking a lot of hits without stealth/blink outside of your distortions, so constant protection with constant high sources of retaliation are a good mix.

This is good stuff here. The reflect on distortion trait I already tried.. not effective as one might think, considering I’m going to be distorted for 1 second at a time I might reflect one or 2 projectiles at best but other than thakittens not really worth taking. This build with out the food and the point in inspire really ends up lacking vitality, which is why I went with those. When you strip it of both, it might have a reasonable amount of condition removal but a necro might give you a beating, in a drawn out battle. so I thinks it kinda of one or the other. Doing both might leave this build with far to little hit points. But, testing 10 points in dueling was before and still is on the list of things I’m going to do tomorrow. Along with several fantastic ideas posted in here =)

edit: ever considered moving 10 inspiration to 10 domination for empowered illusions? I’m just tossing out random thoughts here.

I have given that some thought, but I lose one condition removal and then lose vitality which kinda hurts if I run into a condition based build. It kinda hurts O.O, but if you really want to give it a shot, it’ll probably be a good bit more damaging.

Funny enough, I was fiddling with builds today and ended up with a clone-condition build with all signet utils. Sure enough, the distortion from Blurred Inscriptions gave a lot more survivability than I was expecting (particularly with Midnight, like you were saying)… I can definitely see how you would take a shining to this build. Cleansing Inscriptions seems like it could be handy, but do you find it makes enough of a difference? I’d be worried that dropping one condition would just feel like a drop in the bucket.

Since Domination & Midnight are really the stronger signets and Illusions isn’t so handy in this kind of a build, I wonder what kind of trade-off might help you consider taking a non-signet for your third util? I haven’t had a super good look at how the build might get varied up, but there are a ton of other great utilities that could give this build some oomph. Any strengths in particular you could imagine getting even better, or weaknesses that could be better covered?

It does have issues escaping or getting hard focused by 2 heavy damage builds. So blink or decoy probably would be helpful. But this build things can always be changed out. But sometimes I just enjoy the troll factor of “you just got beat by a signet Mesmer.”

I play signet Mesmer often.

I don’t feel Bountiful Interruption is going to land many time (Actually, Interrupt build is very hard to play. You need to go all in to get good results). As for my signet build, I go 20/20/30/0/0. Traited torch, Prismatic Understanding (You have Mass Invisibility) and Lyssa runes (Even more condition removers). With the Lyssa Runes, your Signet of Inspiration comes handy if you want to share your boons.

I sometime switch Signet of Domination with Signet of Illusion. You use Signet of Illusion as a Distortion (F4) recharge. More invulnerability, but long casting from the Signet.

Since Blurred Frenzy can take damage now (I mean, like from Retaliation), use Signet of Midnight at the same time for 100 % invulnerability. Signet of Midnight is amazing when finishing a person : Guardian trying to knock you back ? Signet of Midnight !

My second weapons are Sc/F or GS (relying on Signet of Inspiration and Lyssa Runes for Swiftness). GS is for damage, Sc/F for swiftness and range.

Variants : You can also play with Sw/F or Sw or P, GS + Signet for more damage which the build lacks (Signet build cons is lower damage). Pop a Decoy in the build instead of Signet of Domination to take advantage of PU.

You have Sword, Pistol and Staff, but you have nothing traited. Maybe you should try to trait one of them, the cooldown reduction is crucial.

I’ve run LOTS of builds using BI and I’ve gotten rather skilled at interrupting while other people can run the build differently and pick up the staff trait if they want. But I’ve always had a love for BI. But I will give the staff trait a try some time.

I think that the Signet of Midnight is sorta useless you know, and trading it for Signet of Illusions won’t work out that well because you are not Shatter spec. Signet of Domination is only good for one use. Sure the 3 sec stun is great, but I just think that people can just break stun and run out of that hole. So if you were to get rid of those 2 signets, I don’t think other signets will be viable and thus it will not become a Signet build cause it only has one signet. I dont know. Dont take my words to heart you know. Peace…

umm… midnight as AMAZING with the traits. its my favorite out of the 3. It provides most of my extra survivability the blind and then the distortio nand the condition removal on that low of cd is fantastic and has changed the direction of the battle more times than I can count.

Let me start off with saying that this is a signet build. But after roaming for pretty much two solid days, I find that it is more than meets the eye. So don’t just toss it based on the idea that they don’t work.

This build is very anti-condition heavy while stacking lots of toughness. It has high defensive capabilities while having reasonably good out put in terms of damage. If you die to a necro. Your doing it wrong, even they should not be able to keep conditions on you between your removals and your distortions. I wouldn’t claim that you can stay right up in their face though.

The better you get at timing, the more powerful you become with this build. I pick up bountiful interruption for might stacking to give this build a bit more power, so the better you get with your 2 interrupts the more damaging you will ultimately be. You also need to be aware of your signets. Putting to many on cool down means you will lack this build’s defensive abilities and you become vulnerable to attack. Using them as creatively as possible will keep you in the game. Since it does apply distortion, you can use it to escape guardian’s circles, trigger necro wells and even chain them together to get inside a tower that is under attack. And when things go bad start casting mass invis and part way through pop signet of midnight to make sure you can finish it.

The signets all have their specific uses. Midnight is your go-to defensive signet. It is also the first one you should use when your going to try to avoid a bunch of damage . Since it has a low cool-down you should use it often, and in group fights it can be used to stop an enemy from stomping your ally.

Inspiration is kind of the odd ball. It doesn’t really have a fantastic use until you fight with a group, then it shines as the best of the 3 signets in terms of group support.
Up till that level you just use it as a lesser version of signet of midnight and should be your second signet used if your trying to avoid damage.

Finally, signet of domination should be your interrupt/cc. Its difficult to time to to its small cast time, but if your enemy is going to do something rather predictable lick a heal or an auto attack you can generally use it as an interrupt. It should be your last resort in terms of damage avoidance. Only use it for that purpose if your other 2 signets are on cool down.

Your out put should rely on your reasonably high power / crit damage so most of the time you should use your phantasms, but don’t get all worked up about trying to keep them a live or replacing them with a clones. It still has the capacity to do good burst damage if needed with shatter or reasonable damage alone with blurred frenzy.

Over all it is a fast passed build with a high skill ceiling. You can always get better with your distortions or your interrupts. You’ll be amazed what you can pull off with this build. The sky is the limit.

On a separate note if any one can come up with a better gear set up feel free to suggest it ^.^

Final solution for league and transfers

Just thinking here. The issue you are going to see with transfers will not be people moving up to a Gold tier server but people jumping to the top server in their tier to assure a first place win. Inter-league transfers will be the killer. For example using the bottom 6 servers now as one NA league:

SF
GoM
ET
FC
DR
AR

How will it help the lower ranked servers if large groups from those servers decide to jump to Sorrow’s Furnace prior to the start of a season? If that happens the lowest place server in that league will just get stomped while SF will be guaranteed a first place finish. They will not be able to hold onto a camp much less any major objective. We already see that when a server is up against another 4 or 5 steps up in the tiers.

Then just prior to the start of the next season people will hedge their bets and again transfer to the predicted top server in their league. It is easy to go to sites such as mos millenium or gw2score to find out the predicted rankings.

Also I think that some servers don;t currently belong in their league. Some just had bad luck with their match ups and dropped down or went way up. And they could do serious stomping or get stomped. I hope Anet takes a serous look and determines where servers belong rather then just relying on how things are at the time.

Hey I’v heard about Mesmer getting a lot of praise so i was thinking about making one. I just have one small problem. This may seem really silly but, isn’t it kinda… girly? I’m afraid of getting laughed at or something for being a male Mesmer.

Some can put up a build here, but none will help if the builds are overwhelmed by those who can pull down 1500 versus our 600 hits.

PvE, only Ranger is easier.

WvW, get a WvW build and stay with the group.

PvP, you need at the very least an ELE or Ranger for a pal.

I find your lack of faith disturbing. I will gank what ever running alone in spvp or wvw thank you very much.

I’m still in school so a won’t be on early in the day (thats eastern time zone) but I’ll be on a good 3 to 4 hours a day during a week and the weekend can easily be 6+ a day (I have no life). I’ve been playing Mesmer for a good 6 months and still love it, especially, creating and testing builds. But there is always more to learn. I WvW 90% of the time, but as of recent I’ve been grinding pve to get gold for the next update.

Every class has condition removal. Not every class has the same level of condition removal, but not every class can make a viable condition/tank either. If everything could counter condi/tank, then it would be underpowered.

The counter for condi/tank is a balanced build, with good condi-removal/sustain and some damage. For example, a well built DD ele could easily hard counter a condi/tank necro.

Yes but not all classes can have enough access to these dispels with out making huge sacrifices to the point its not worth it. In order to build a mesmer with enough dispels to deal with a condition necro, it becomes practically useless.

They want interrupts for Mesmer. This is a good way to make it happen. While giving them an advantage over things like warriors, or thieves who have an abundance of interrupts. While they give Mesmer, who is supposed to be a class who can specialize in such things, a few select interrupts with relatively long cool downs. Giving us this bar so that we can use those interrupts more effectively, might actually turn things around ^.^

Random mobs? You mean the crap that gets me in combat by strolling in my symbol of switness or the crap that randomly walks into our AoE to rally our kills?
WvW doesn’t need random mobs, they’re just an annoyance. It’s a PvP-mode. If people want to go kill raports there’s an entire game mode committed to it. If people wanna kill stuff in WvW it should be other players or maybe guards, doors and lords.

“Make the Tamini and Skritt area mini-dungeons, each with their own jumping puzzle for completing it. well but there is no class that has that many blocks that could chain burn like that though. it doesnet need an icd as blocking doesnet happen as often and also the burn duration is not as massive as perplexity 6. it is not viable to spec into burn on block, but for sure is viable to spec into confusion on interrupts as warriors are king of interrupts, next to engi and thieves.

No no no no for the 100th time no! There is no way you can have a warrior and a mesmer and say that with a straight face. It just is impossible because we can apply confusion with no pre-requisite we don’t need to met some sort of criteria to get confusion on to someone besides hitting them with an attack.

Basic style I have a warrior and a mesmer.

You state that warriors have a better confusion build than we do which is false.

Warrior – distracting strikes (must interrupt to cause confusion) they take runes of perplexity so they can get a free 3 stack proc of confusion on hit with a 15 sec icd.

Mesmer – a scepter, 5 points in illusions, null field, feedback, a pistol a staff duelist discipline trait.

Warrior must interrupt to get stacks of confusion above 3, they also must be in melee range to get their interrupt.

Mesmer – presses feedback, presses 5, 8 shots of confusion headed the enemies way, presses 3, 5 stacks of confusion headed the enemies way.

Is duelist still up? Yes, ok good put chaos storm on duelist 8 more shots of confusion headed the enemies way. Duelist off cooldown? Yes, ok good press 5 put down null field 8 shots headed the enemies way. Scepter 3 off cooldown? Yes, ok good press 3. Can I shatter now? Sure, press f2. How many stacks of confusion will I get if all clones hit? 2 per clone so 6 stacks of confusion. Wow awesome.

I need runes of perplexity to do all this? No! What if I get runes of perplexity? That means you get even more confusion.

If a warrior with runes of perplexity meets another warrior who has stability on how many stacks of confusion will the warrior stack? 3 at most. Is there any other way for the warrior to put confusion on someone with stability? No!

If a ranger pops rampage as one and meets a warrior with these runes on how many stacks can the warrior put on him? 3 until the buff goes away can the warrior remove the stability? No. Can a mesmer remove the stability from the ranger if he is using these runes? Yes. So he can counter the rangers counter? Yes. Can the warrior? No!

If a necro goes into plague form how many stacks of confusion can a mesmer put on the necro with his 20 seconds of stability? Alot. How many can a warrior? 3.

feedback glam has to be traited, ideally with bb aswell, but our interrupts arent as spamable as a warriors. a warrior is the king of interrupts with his stun spams if speced right. the problem is the 5 stacks of confusion on interrupts for 10-15 secs. its not 3 stacks its 9 per interrupt=easy 25 ….and mesmers do not really have stability, but yes with nullfield we can remove that.

I have been running around with my Perplexity confusion build on my mesmer. I will steam roll one of these warriors with ease. They are actually one of my favorite gank targets. the goal here is to do all you can to keep them away from you and when he comes in the do his interrupt thing he will own himself on your confusion. Which you should have a stack of at the very least 20+ if not 25 confusion.

Random mobs? You mean the crap that gets me in combat by strolling in my symbol of switness or the crap that randomly walks into our AoE to rally our kills?
WvW doesn’t need random mobs, they’re just an annoyance. It’s a PvP-mode. If people want to go kill raports there’s an entire game mode committed to it. If people wanna kill stuff in WvW it should be other players or maybe guards, doors and lords.

WHOOSH That was the sound of the air escaping my lungs as I gasped with incredulity that you think adding more PvE to WvW is an improvement … and don’t even seem to recognize that your suggestions are indeed pure PvE. We can read it a dozen times and it still won’t make a lick of sense.

I think he means to remove the random mobs. And replace this with guard out posts and stuff like that. He could have worded it a bit better though, so I see why your confused. aka, less random mobs and more WvW stuff.

I already love signet of domination with a pistol/condition build. a little more condition damage might just be icing on the cake. But I do wonder if the extra 80 condition damage would actually be worth taking up a trait spot.

I remember you guys… you are those roamers who I always see in our border. maybe we got tired of it and finally wanted to kick you out? But of course if You run into a zerg it is mindless and will want to kill you, soooo… this only proves you ran into a zerg. Which was probably the zerg that came to flip back our border after DR zerged it.

It’s because of how their trait system works. Every skill modification except cool downs is a separate skill. That’s why Duelist’s Discipline Phantasm has 100% combo rate, it’s a totally different skill and phantasm. You used to be able to combine traits in such a way that Magic Bullet gained its old tooltip (Duelist’s Disc + Illusionary Elasticity).

Unfortunately, that’s also why I dread every time they change a skill because there is a good chance that the trailer version will be left untouched, or the Clone Version if its a #1 skill (Trident Clones have NEVER worked fully, they still do a minor heal instead of boons).

Personally I hope they keep the phantasm duelist “bug” it’s the last remaining of the powerful confusion Mesmer. Running a glamour build with it, you can create really high stacks really fast. I’m running perplexing with it atm and i will achieve 25 stacks of confusion and around 15 bleeds by the end of the 2nd duelist attack. Making me one deadly son of a kitten.

Banner lord Question

Personally…. I like that people can banner lords… it lets small groups hold off larger groups for a larger amount of time while waiting for reinforcements. Heck, when FC was with IoJ and DH, we used this to defend our keep against a group 3 to 5 times our size till we finally pushed them out some hour later.

How would you change Confusion?

Confusion certainly does need a buff, but right now I can still use it rather effectively, since I can consistently keep up any where from 15 to 25 stacks of it using a pistol/confusion bleed build with max confusion duration. I find it is really effective, even if they do remove it I can apply it again in a matter of seconds. But the work and the sacrifices I have make to get those stacks, I don’t think it is properly rewarded in terms of damage. Or perhaps It could actually punish people for removing it. Which could potentially give people who passively remove conditions something to think about ^.^

GS mesmers are free kills.

Staff is a defensive crutch, a good one, but ultimately it offers no threat.

No threat? It can be a powerful tool if used or traited right. If you pick up the extra bounce trait and high condition damage, it’ll rock house with very high sustained condition damage. if you go power, warlock will kitten face. Along with its defensive capabilities. It is a very powerful tools. I find GS is actually used wrong for the most part. Its very good for large group battles since the lazer will damage every one it goes through. So target some one in the back and go to town.

I got on my Mesmer to test both of the new runes sets with my confusion-pistol build and maybe do a bit of Spvp with em while I was there. But I noticed they aren’t at the vendor. Am I blind or are they not added yet?

Oh man, thankfully i´ve not read such ignorant posts like from the OP very often. Do you really think that your playstyle is the only one in wvw ? If you want to play for points go ahead and do it but don´t come to the forums crying when other people have different thoughts what fun is. Some like small scale, some like GvG, why does that bother you ? Feel free to go away ,do whatever you like and let other do what they like it´s not your kitten business.

callin GvG “kill trading” clearly shows that you don´t have the slightest idea what GvG is all about. I would recommend that you try to participate in one or two, so that you actually know what you talking about. But i guess you are either too busy fighting doors or simply to bad .

But seriously, don’t tell people that it isn’t simply kill trading and that calling it that means they don’t know what they’re talking about. I suggest you participate in GvG (it’s in a game called Guild Wars, not Guild Wars 2) and learn what you’re talking about.

Downed state/no healer class/Rally have destroyed any possibility of GvG. Get over it churrin’

You haven’t participated in a GvG in this game have you? there is a lot of strategy a lot of guild employ in them. We work around the fact we have no healers and create specific builds and class combinations to keep our hp up. We predict our enemy’s movements and move accordingly. Downed state actually adds something, at some point you need to finish your enemy, and then generally needs your group to stand still for a certain amount of time, it gives the enemy a good chance to attack you them selves. Also rallying makes it so the death of a single member can turn the tide of the battle in the enemies favor. Its more complicated then one might think. Comparing it to a Zerg vs. Zerg battle is like comparing a wild tiger to a trained wolf.

Personally.. and this may be a VERY bad idea or a good one, up to you guys, but I would like to see something like torment done, it does a base damage tick, like any other condition. But the ticks don’t require skill use it ticks for a certain amount any way and then when they use a skill. its just extra damage. Makes it so it doesn’t hit outlandishly hard when they use a skill. But makes it so it is still a reasonable condition.

Why not have it tick 1x per second, but if/when they’re casting, it ticks 2x a second. Additional bonus damage upon completing of a skill. Stacks intensity.

Keep in mind, this would render the damage from Confusion to not be a nuke in any form or way, but put the damage into a way so it’s more pressure, similar to Torment.

The damage from Confusion ticks would be equal to half a bleed stack, so if they’re casting it’s essentially X more bleed stacks. Cast/Attack finish damage would be less than the current damage of Confusion.

But I feel like players don’t spend enough time casting for that to be reasonable, torment works because people move, but with cast times as shot as they are, the bonus damage wouldn’t shine. It would be just as weak if not weaker.

I was running around in a border when I ran across a necro. Normaly.. I just kill them and Move on but.. This necro literally wiped me out so fast there was nothing I could do. I went to press a key, them I was feared with ever condition in the game on me and went down so fast there was NOTHING I could do about it… I moved on… not used to losign lack that, so I started to wander around again. Till I ran into-him again. This time I tried to escape this by dropping null field RIGHT on top of me ( I’m a Mesmer) running ALL my anti-condition stuff. I moved did everything I could. but the moment he hit me one time I just melted… Idk what kind of build he was running but it was crazy, and as far as I can tell there is no counter… Any ideas?

hmm… I cant wait till DH is gone. I was trolling around in our keep on my little tiny up-level, level 30 thief, when I was killed by some thief in like full cultural tier 3 fractal weapons thief who then proceeded to emote on my body. most feel great. Never saw any thing like that before I ran into DH. Hope we never get matched up again.

I’m from Deathclock (over rated but currently #2 NA) one of 2 Mesmsers they have going with their 15 or 10 man teams. While I can’t tell you my exact set up… I’m something along the lines of a glamour mesmer, just less tanky with more support. I only stay with the Train long enough to for our 2 forces to meet up, then I back out and do my damage from far away, dropping my glamours at specific times to hurt the other guild as much as I can.
