They didn’t mention it specifically but they did say that trying to balance everything with all the split skills between sPvP and PvE was too much. I imagine if that’s the case than revealed will be 3 sec in sPvP.

Everyone is attacking SA when all they did was make it a viable choice. That you don’t like that choice doesn’t make the change bad. They just need to bring the other weapon sets up to par with D/P for viability.

Making sword main hand skills return a bit of endurance on hit may be a way of bringing it back up to par?

WvW is PvE. At least as far as balance goes, so C&D is taking a ~17% damage hit. That is totally worth it not to have all the timing be different in PvP. I can actually play the same character in WvW and PvP and not have it feel alien and weird with all the timings/damage being different.

As a side note: I don’t think it will be worthwhile to detonate cluster bomb anymore, at least on a power build. The added bleeds will do so little damage that it won’t compensate for the chance of a missed cluster and loss of blast finisher.

Your post sounds like anet are also giving revealed the same duration in wvw and pvp, truth or not? i didnt see anything like that

They stated that there weren’t going to be any divisions between PvP and PvE as far as skill balance goes as it was too hard for them to balance them both.

The cooldown of Withdraw from 15 to 18 is a trick (no pun intended) because with Trickster, this skill will now have 14.4 cooldown plus the 10% to heal coefficient.

Who is going to take Trickster over Bountiful Theft? It’s a straight nerf.

Withdraw 15s -> 18s recharge (healing also inc. by 10%)
Cloak and Dagger Damage reduced by ~17% (increased in PvP by 25%)
Devourer Venom Immob Reduced from 2s -> 1s.
Choking gas Reduced duration from 3s -> 2s.
Resilience of Shadows 50% -> 25% reduced damage

However they DID move Last Refuge -> Adept trait line which makes it ALL worthwhile ;P

They fixed it, then recently broke it again. Might not matter as they are sort of rolling hidden thief into descent of shadows (blinding powder instead of stealth) for the expansion.

For a F2P game the support really is top notch. Even on other subscription only MMO’s the reply wait time is usually much higher.

If you don’t see it coming, yes. In PvP and small group fights this never happens as you are aware enough of the situation not to get hit. It sums up quite well why thief fares poorly in larger scale combat, if all your defenses are active instead of passive then all it takes to bypass them is for something to come from off camera to kill you.

I don’t think it will be a bug when HoT releases. They just need to fix SR and it will be ok then. This is such a big change for being just a bug

My guess is it’s coupled with whatever spec we are getting. Kinda like how necro death shroud changes when they are a reaper etc.

Keep in mind the 30% bonus to sprint from pack runes only applies to the ones that you apply yourself.

how do you guys use the Orbweaver that the palm pad glue came off? I have the Stealth edition so idk if they could have fix it but i doubt it. all i do is place my palm and position the orbweaver at angle to where is comfortable and then i dont move at all but my fingers hhmm

I have small hands so I have to tilt the palm rest forward to hit the top row of keys. When I bought it I scoffed at the talk about the glue problems and didn’t think I’d have a problem until I did. Both the rubber pads have since come off. Thankfully after cleaning off the glue the plastic underneath is sufficient.

What settings make fields more or less visible? I had to turn some things down for the sake of frame rate but all I get these days is red and white circles.

The orb weaver is just a glue time bomb. Do not buy until they come out with a version that does not self destruct.

I was highly amused at how vastly unbalanced, monetarily, ascended armor crafting was, between armor types, when it first dropped. Naturally I waited for a patch to address the issue. That was back in 2013. It really is a joke between guild members that GW2 charges a “cloth tax” to anyone who wants to play a light armor class. If you don’t know what I’m talking about just look here.

As far as I can tell there are 3 main problems:

1. The mat requirements for bolts of damask are insane.
2. The light armor class has to shell out 18% more than heavy and 24% more than medium. Source.
3. Anet can’t make any change without angering everyone that already spent the money.

My suggestion to fix this would be to:

1. Decrease the mat requirements for damask significantly.
2. Increase the mat requirements for elonian leather squares and deldrimor steel ingot’s slightly.
3. Give everyone that already invested in light ascended armor something. I know handing out gems or gold would make your economy guy have a minor seizure but even a title like “Worlds Biggest Sucker” or something would go a long way. I mean seriously how did this get past QA without at least someone pointing out how stupid it was? Why has this not even been addressed in over a year?

Anet, I'm really dissapointed.

They are so afraid to touch thief it’s almost comical. I truly pity the guy that had to design the new trait line. He probably is/was sweating bullets the entire time. If they do the reveal on the elite spec in any place other than dead last I’ll eat my hat.

Ok so the new [Strength of Undeath] minor trait gives us 15% Life force pool… but previously we had 30% from that trait line… Can we pick up that 15% from somewhere else?

This is one of the major things that keeps me out of sPvP. I play d/d and it totally throws off all the timing, it’s like I’m playing another character. I don’t see d/d represented at all in sPvP anymore.

Graphics effect the visibility of fields?

I have a friend starting out that is having a hard time blasting water fields for healing. At first I thought it was just kitten y play on his part but when I was over at his place I noticed that some of the water field graphics for him were just showing up as a white rings on the ground. 10 min+ of fiddling with graphic settings didn’t seem to fix the problem. Anyone know what he can change to fix this?

Thieves are not at all what I expected.

It’s old hat to most of us but just to be sure you know that you can “pre-cast” C&D before you steal so that you arrive just before the animation ends and to the ranger you only flicker for a second.

Vs a bad ranger you can immediately begin to attack but I would suggest that you wait for a beat or two because the typical reaction is for them to double dodge or pop a cool down. I find it pays to simply wait for stealth to fall and C&D again first before engaging, but that obviously does not apply if they start doing something stupid like rain of arrows.

There’s been innumerable threads with no response. I’ve been thinking about just ordering baked goods to be delivered to their main offices with “Last Refuge” spelled out in frosting like once a week. Maybe bribes will be more effective than forum whining? ;p

I’d be all for channeled abilities being canceled if a target gains stealth (would be great if that’s how line of sight worked as well) but people are so used to how it works now that changing it would cause all kinds of crying. Something like that should have been fixed in beta then balanced around, not 2 years down the pipe.

More specifically, if you look at every other thief melee set (that is, D/P, S/P, S/D) they have a big chunk of their power in their dual attack. D/D, on the other hand, has a particularly weak dual attack. While D/D still has a high damage cheese pattern from C&D + Backstab, the lack of a functional dual attack does hurt the set, and is a big part of why it sees no competitive play.

Well, the change to dancing dagger has been nice. Maybe they’re taking a look at the skills in the set? Keep in mind that they just fixed warrior’s rush (supposedly, GS#5) after 2 years and they didn’t change functionality too much in terms of damage, so maybe it’s just taking longer to figure out what direction to go in for DB. More evade frames-> still clunky when compared to other dual skills. It doesn’t need more damage since there’s already the most burst on that set, it just needs better utility which the set lacks.

Yea even if they add evade frames it wouldn’t fix the main problem which is that it locks you into a (relatively) long animation that makes you predictable. In any pvp setting a predictable thief is a dead thief. I’d much rather they drop the evade frames and turn it into a thief version of warrior sword #3? Whirlwind? The one that spins you around like crazy? That would fill the AE damage gap that I think DB is intended to fill while also adding enough movement so that you aren’t a sitting duck at the end of the animation.

DD works perfectly fine and is a well-balanced set of skills. They should fix other weapons on other classes before touching Death-Blossom which can be a very usefull skill if used in the right way.

Awesome! I’m glad you like flashy effects! But they aren’t for everyone. I would love it if they made some Legendaries without all the Las Vegas glitter and lights. It would finally give me something to shoot for post level 80.

Auras and other Particle Effects cause screen clutter, making opponents hard to see (therefore hard to dodge/react to). The more screen clutter, the more lag. They take away my mini pet when it gets crowded… now take away the real frame-rate eaters! And let’s face it; not everybody likes auras and footprints and swooshes on their gear due to simple aesthetic preferences.

We need check-boxes in our OPTIONS to be able to turn off auras and other particle effects for ourselves.

Checkboxes to hide:

  • Auras
  • Footprints
  • Swooshes
  • Spell Effects from:
    - All Other Players
    - All Players Outside Your Party
    - All Players Outside Your Guild

In PvP and WvW you only see those effects on ally players not enemies for that very reason. Imagine a thief trying to stealth only to leave a footprint trail behind :p

Make it power based to do more direct dmg, speed up the animation and remove the jump aspect so we can move freely like with Dagger Storm or do it in place by choice. I like the reflect projectiles part too.

I liked GW1’s Death Blossom more. I really don’t care for the Leaping part.

Unless/until they release other melee options, D/D needs to be versatile, not power only.

Again, D/D is a power weapon set, not hybrid, not versatile, spamming 3 won’t do anything but kill new/unexperienced players, the Thief’s only real condition set is D/P, has better Bleed pressure and Torment, and with 6 in Trickery you get Confusion also for a nice condition burst which outshines D/D’s condition damage in every way, just because S/D and D/P are power sets that doesn’t mean D/D needs to have a complete useless ability just so people can think of it like the hybrid set when it really isn’t.

I really don’t get what the issue is either. Who out there plays condi D/D? I haven’t heard anyone stand up and say that yet and I’ve certainly never seen it in game. If no1 uses it in that manner then that whole argument is moot. The only thing left is people arguing just to be argumentative Aka trolls.

Hopefully with number 5 it’ll stack up with resilience of shadows lol 90% less dmg… Just imagine…

I imagine the effects would not stack if they did this but I see your point. #7 may be the best fix then but a even easier fix would be to just flip the spell effect from stealth → invisiblity. Don’t have to worry about revealed or stealth attacks as you are not really stealthed in the first place.

D/D weapon set is fine as is… Id rather see S/P buffed or better trait changes to Acro line.
Changing DB would wreck a lot of condi thieves. I’ve fought some killer 3 spammers !

It’s not “fine” when 1/5 of your weapon options are useless. The weapon set as a whole might be ok at the moment (I’d argue that S/D and D/P outshine D/D imho) but having a completely useless skill can’t be “working as intended”.
