Hey guys. We’re going to temporarily stop selling old-soda that everyone buys. We’re going to replace it with NEW-soda, which will intentionally be inferior to the old-soda. That’s my metaphor. But I don’t know how much it applies to GW2.

A genuine question. Why is Throw Torch such an AWFUL skill?

It does low damage, low condition duration, single-target, misses a lot, and barely synergizes with the other skills whatsoever.

Is there a point to this skill? PLEASE, enlighten me!

Seriously, what is this?

It only happens when the fan is going at a certain speed. Not when I’m running high process applications (like Guild Wars 2), but when I’m just idling and watching youtube videos on Linux.

I should note: the low rattling happens when I boot into Linux. In Windows, it goes away very quickly. Does that mean anything?

Hi, I play GW2 on an ASUS K53SV. I’ve had it for 2 years, and the warranty is expired.

However, since yesterday, I noticed a quiet rattling noise coming from the left side of the laptop. I’m concerned this may be either faulty fan, or perhaps the hard-drive.

Everything seems to be working fine on my computer itself, and I am perfectly capable of running GW2 on full-screen max-graphic settings at the moment.

However, the noise is worrying. But it is only audible when the laptop is doing only low-process tasks, like watching a YT video (as opposed to playing games.)

How worried should I be? How urgent is it?

And if I were to call up ASUS and schedule a repair, think $150 is enough for something like this?

Playing the Personal Story again, I ask myself: Why is it so boring? The story up until Claw Island is fun and interesting, full of intriguing characters, and awesome twists. But what about the gameplay? Why does the gameplay fall so short?

The problem with the personal story, is that it’s just so… boring.

Everything is one big scripted event, and it has the same problem Call of Duty’s campaign mode has. (Possibly even worse.)

I want to see more things like Vexa’s Lab. And I want to see actual consequence for failing a quest. Maybe the player is actually booted out, and has to start all over?

Give the personal story more trash mobs we have to fight. Force the player to approach a fight wisely, otherwise they over-agro.

Learn from GW1 how to do an instance right.

For the most part, I like Axe MH weapon. The #2 burst is nice, and #3 is cool. It’s the #1 autoattack which sucks. Also, it NEEDS cleave!

No, this is not a joke topic.

Various people are insisting Flamethrower is the highest DPS option for Engineers, and recommending it to new Engineers in PvE.

As an Engineer main myself, I’m curious about this claim, since it is misleading a lot of players. Is actually true or not?

The Flamethrower build in question:

10-30-0-30

Traits=
Explosives: IV
Firearms: V, VIII, XI

Armor: Berserker, Rune of Strength

The persons in question, claim that they are able to maintain a permanent stack of 20 Might, and there for with the addition of Modified Ammunition, Deadly Mixture, Juggernaut, and HGH, Flamethrower Autoattack is superior to Bomb-based builds with Static Discharge for DPS.

Is this true? My hypothesis is that this claim is false, due to factors of slower attack speed, lower overall damage, and the trait setup.

In order to compare, let’s assume both build setups are using Rune of Strength.

For Flamethrower:
Firstly, the persons claim because Flamethrower has permanent 20 stacks of might due to HGH and Juggernaut, and 10 in Explosives, that is equal to a permanent 600 Power.
Secondly, they claim Deadly Mixture+Modified Ammunition leads to higher buffs than that of Bombs build.

But what about Bomb based builds?

Armor: Berserker, Rune of Strength

Firstly, the idea is to stack perma-might using Big Ol’ Bomb, Detonate Rifle Turret, Detonate Healing Turret, with optional 3rd utility (in this case, Grenade Kit for Grenade Barrage). Because we have 3x blast finishers, we can assume perma 9 stacks of might, giving us +225 Power. Factoring in the addition 20 points into Explosives, let’s assume perma +525 power.
Secondly, for damage buffs, we have Explosive Powder, Modified Ammunition, Rifle Mod, Static Discharge, and Synaptic Overload.

In order to test, I am counting how many seconds it takes to kill a level 80 Rams inside Frostgorge Sound, and how much damage I deal.

Luckily, due to the flamthrower bug, it is easy to tell how much damage I deal. I began with Flame Blast, dealing with 1.9k+4k damage, and my Flame Jet dealt a total of 7k damage. It took a total of 6 seconds to kill the ram, dealing a total of 12k damage to kill it.

Bombs, on the other hand, are harder to measure. There for, I will limit my variables only to Surprise Shot+Static Discharge, and Bomb Auto attack. Results took only an average of 5.2 seconds to kill the longhorn ram. Note the lack of Big Ol’ Bomb and other factors into this test, and the additional utility slot without pressure from HGH.

However, what’s important, is that even without burst skills, Bomb Autoattack and Surprise Shot+Static Discharge STILL killed the Longhorn Ram faster than a traited Flamethrower with a full bar dedicated to HGH.

So what if we factor in burst skills and traits? It took only 2 seconds to kill the Longhorn Ram…

What do you think? Is Flamethrower Autoattack REALLY the highest autoattack damage? I am skeptical. But if anyone has the calculations, PLEASE try and prove me wrong.

Make Kormir backpiece based on the Dreadspawn Leech from Gate of Pain.

With a Dwayna backpiece, Grenth Bakpiece, and now Balthazar backpiece, why not complete the set? There remains 4 other Gods to have backpieces.

My suggestion in particular, is for an Abaddon backpiece. Something similar to the Tormented Weapon skins? Or perhaps something similar to the Karka Tentacles backpiece, but with Tendrils coming out of it?

With Basilisk Venom completely nerfed hardcore (unable to go through defiant), I am having a hard time figuring out which elite to use on my assassin?

For Dungeons, Fractals, AND Open-World PvE. Advice?

Why not take this mechanic, and make interrupts a Ranger niche?

Apparently, as of this update, dungeon chests are limited once a day.

Not the champion bags, but those crappy boxes which dropped only greens, sometimes a core, and rarely a lodestone.

And that is exactly why they were nerfed. It is that rare chance for lodestones, that ANET decided to nerf. For some reason planned for the future, they wanted to SLIGHTLY increase the price for things like Charged Lodestones, so capping the chests once/day will slightly decrease the supply.

This compliments perfectly with the nerf to champion boxes, which were a main supply of lodestones.

Before the Wardrobe patch, Cultural Armor was all neatly organized in the PvP locker. However, with the wardrobe patch, they are completely all over the place, and it makes things very difficult to preview.

My suggestion is to please move all the cultural armors next to each other, rather than scatter all over the wardrobe like they are right now.

I’m one of the few people who LIKE the Town Clothing potions.

My issue is they cannot be used in combat… :’(

What if Guild Wars 3 was made in the same vein as Guild Wars 1, with an emphasis on commanding customizable AI, like Heroes?

It seems like something which could co-exist excellent alongside GW2.

With FGS and Queensdale Champion Farms nerfed, and dungeons slightly nerfed, I believe it is time for us to brainstorm new possible farms for the community.

Proposals:

• - Sparkfly Fen Champion Farm
  [Ocean’s Gullet Waypoint] Shark
  [Brooloonu Waypoint] krait
  [Aleem’s Waypoint] risen juggernaut+troll
  [Darkweather Waypoint] 2 turtles in JP,
  [Flamefrog Waypoint] ?champion spider in cave?
  I can’t seem to find the location of the Spider, but I can confirm the other champions follow a steady train enough to compete with other zones. (Note I have only tested this pre-patch.)

• - Veteran Karka Farm
  10/hour at the moment of following a Veteran Karka train on Sanctum of Rall. Sells the Blood and Karka Shells. (Note if too many people find out, Karka Shells will go down)

• - SE P1 Champion Farm
  Farming champions inside Sorrow’s Embrace Path 1. Speedrun through it until the 3 Golems, then reset. Should be about 5 champions every 4-6 minutes. (Requires a full team of zerkers. Mes+War+Guardian Meta)

With Champion Farming of FGS nerfed, I’m wondering if anyone has other ideas for farming Skill Points?

I agree with the idea, that they should give tokens to whoever has two legendary of the same kinda. It would certainly resolve a lot of issues.
