I can play gw1 at the same time too. And I really have to say the graphics have come very far since then!
A lot of people have been complaining about the lack of endgame…. But ever since I’ve reached level 80 on my engineer, I never felt there were any problems to be honest. I truly feel like I am getting an “endgame” experience.
Some things I’ve been doing:
1. Farming Cursed Shore and exploring other Orr areas for loot
2. Farming Frostgorge trolls for blood
3. Dungeons (Although I’m holding off on most until they fix the rewards and difficulty…)
4. Killing World bosses (Albeit you need some guildie to tell you when they spawn)
5. Getting 100% on maps
6. “zerging” straits of Devastation
7. World Versus World. Yes, it’s endgame.
8. “Mini”-dungeons/jumping puzzles (most are overlooked even with 100% map completion)
Cursed Shore is an especially well designed area for casual endgame play! (Frostgorge is also a pretty sweet zone!)
Overall, I really feel like I am getting my money’s worth. I don’t see what it is people expect the endgame to be, since it seems fine to me.
For anyone else here fine with the “endgame”, what do you think?
I love the engineer simply because of how technical it is and because of how much variety it gives me.
Weapon Kits allow you to wield up to 4 weapons at once with NO cooldown! While turrets are just plain fun if you use them properly! Not to mention all the TF2 references for a TF2tard like myself <3
Although no one could go wrong about Warrior either. So the answer is simple: Anyone with a biggass gun!
TL;dr: If you want dungeons, go Guardian.
Despite people saying there are no ’tanks", it is guardians who do most of the pulling and crowd control. They also heal allies.

I was wondering who did the GW2 art. It’s gorgeous!
I just finished my Personal Story. Here are my thoughts. (Spoilers Within)

I’m sure ANET is planning something after all this explosive feedback. These forums were opened for a reason, and they made quite the funds releasing Guild Wars 2.
Also, keep in mind Zhaitan is the dragon of the UNDEAD! Couldn’t he have resurrected himself?
Trahearne: I personally find him to be probably worst character. :SPOILERS:
Posted by: Kain Francois.4328
I actually don’t understand why people say he’s dying too much. Maybe it’s because I played a Warrior, but he almost never died for me. (Likewise, I almost never died…)
Dying is the one thing Trahearne didn’t do for me. I say keeping him alive is something we SHOULDN’T be asking for!
I know I have posted this idea multiple times, but I really want ANET to make use of Zhaitan’s body.
Have his tentacles grip around the ship, and have his head poke the front of it where you fight his TONGUE!
Why have his tongue be dragon heads if it doesn’t do anything?

There are SO many cool things his body can do! Make him assault the ship!
For the sake of data, I have +300 condition damage due to traits, plus the trait which increases condition damage 5% of my toughness (forgot its name..)
People keep saying I should be using condition damage, but since I am properly traited, isn’t that pointless?
Grenades hit 3 times, keep in mind. So using Shrapnel Grenade, I stack a LONG duration of bleed on MULTIPLE targets THREE times! (Even more bleed if the bleed on crit trait activates!)
Not to mention that I also have a trait which burns on critical…Since grenades hit so many times, I am capable of stacking burn with no problem.
And while AoE poison deals no damage, it sets off a combo field to explode my sentry for AoE weakness. Pistol on the other hand is an inaccurate line of sight using the Coat Bullets for Poison.
The only condition pistol inflicts that grenades don’t have are confusion. But since confusion only works for 2 seconds, is it really worth it?
With the pistol’s short condition durations, can we be so sure that even with condition equipment, it could out damage the raw power and high duration conditions of grenades?
I chose the backpack.. But I really regret not taking the goggles!
I wish ANET could make them obtainable since the skins are so awesome…
Had this happen at Tequila the Sunless.
I think that they should try to add some connectivity with GW1 by briefly mentioning the “Hero of Tyria” in the lore.
A priestess of Kormir for example should mention the Hero of Tyria and the hero’s travels with Kormir through Elona.
Or maybe the Durmand Priory uncovers the diary of the Hero of Tyria’s adventures?
Seriously, I do think they should give the Hero of Tyria some credit somewhere…
Trahearne: I personally find him to be probably worst character. :SPOILERS:

Cmon ANET! You know you wanna let us kill him in the expansion!
Why not just make it so butter drops in ADDITION to whatever item you receive? Similar to how gemstones work in mining?
My gear is Pow+Prec+Magic Find. So almost every strike I make is a critical, thus’ often activating traits like burning, bleed, vulnerability, etc…
However, regardless of condition damage, don’t grenades deal the same exact conditions with a larger base damage and AoE?
Can anyone possibly show me some more complex calculations showing off the true potential of pistols?
First let me make clear THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT THREAD!
Rather I want to ask literally what’s the point of the Pistol’s balance? The intention and “Proper” way to use them in PvE?
It seems everything it can do, my other weapons can do better. And EVERYTHING a pistol can do is completely outclassed by grenades! (Besides confusion..)
Some quick and dirty, lazy number crunching on the average damage I deal to level 80 Risen using my #1 attack:
Pistol: 300 + 160 dmg from 2s bleed(600-700 with Coated Bullets trait and the foe is aligned with another foe…)
Grenades (With 3x throw trait): 1800 + 3x vulnerability + 600 more range than pistol
Bombs: 1300 + 1 vulnerability
Flamethrower: 1400 + burn
Wrench: 917 + Vulnerability (1700 on third attack)
Now, I know this number crunching is very lazy, and I didn’t factor in many secondary effects. However, when I compare the 300 damage of Pistol to the 1000+ damage of grenades, I just don’t see Pistols as a DPS weapon.
So what am I doing wrong? Are pistols simply designed to be a weak-supportive type of weapon? Or am I using them the wrong way? Are there any particular traits to drastically improve my weapon damage?
The most DPS capability I can see if using Coated Bullets (Pistols pierce) + Poison Dart Volley, which should deal about 1900 damage in a line. However, isn’t the warrior’s similar Rifle ability about 3x as powerful as this? AND it has piercing as well?
Seriously, what’s the intention how to properly use the pistol? Or can we expect Explosive Shot to be buffed soon?
Robert Gee is an NPC at Embark Beach… If you can find it! ;o
I’m happy to see this on Mac too, but how much longer until an official Linux port? PlayonLinux works, sure, but an official release would be nice..
So is there really an announcement or not?
I really like the idea where he grabs onto the ship.
Something which would be very memorable in my opinion is a phase where he pokes his head over the front and you have to “slay” his tongue!
Why give him a dragon tongue if we don’t get to fight it? Cmon ANET, that would be soooo cool!
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/5/58/Zhaitan_screenshot.jpg
Cmon there’s so many creative ways to use that body!
Meet: Dungeons!
Tybalt. He’s such an awesome developed character that it’s actually a shame he is only introduced by choosing Order of Whispers, and doesn’t appear much later in the story.
Later on the Sovereign Eye of Zhaitan mentions that Tybalt is “under his [Zhaitan’s] wing”. I was hoping for Tybalt to return… Maybe when the Zhaitan fight is updated?
Considering his character development of going from a coward to a frontline fighter, I think the story would have made a lot more sense if he and Trahearne could switch places.
The Skritt are also cool. I hated them at first, but as I progressed and saw the Skritt colonies, I really began to like em!
And don’t get me started about the Quaggan! I want a plushy, dangit!
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
There is a rumor that tailor could make it. I suppose that rumor is false?
I really like the idea of splitting the topics. Nicely done!
So in GW1 we were presented with the Scepter of Orr and Staff of the Mists.
The Scepter of Orr has the ability to control the undead, and Abaddon’s titans.
The Staff of the Mists however… Not much is known about its powers, but it’s capable of stealing life.
In the end cutscene of Eye of the North, Livia took the Scepter of Orr, and we never heard from the staves again.
So the question remains.. WHAT are they? What, why, why, what, WHY?
WHY could the Scepter of Orr control undead? Who created it? It could command titans, so could it possibly control Abddon’s demon titans too for his generals like the Undead Lich? Why didn’t the Titans simply follow their commander’s orders, like the Margonites and Verash?
And WHY undead? Did Abaddon ever have powers over the undead? Why did the Cataclysm make a bunch of undead corpses in Orr, and where did they go!? Did the undead simply swim in the ocean at their sunken city until commanded by the Scepter or Orr?
And WHO created the scepter if Abaddon clearly cannot create or command undead? Who even created the Cataclysm!? Why was it brought up by Trahearne in Guild Wars 2 as a passing comment without clarification? Isn’t undeadening Zhaitan’s powers and
NOT Abaddon’s? So why did it suddenly control the Titans!?
And WHAT is the Staff of the Mists? Whereas the Sceptor of Orr controls “beyond forces”, what the heck is the Staff of the Mists supposed to be? Really… The ONLY thing we know about it is it has a life steal mechanic against foes ingame, and the Margonites wanted it.. So we had to toss this supposedly powerful staff we know nothing about into a pit it will be destroyed and never heard from again!??
As much as I love GW lore, I don’t understand this supposedly important part of the story! I’ve played every single campaign, and read NPC dialogue for nearly every quest. Maybe I’ve missed something here, or is this just a repeat of the GS ball from Pokemon Season 2 where they just decided it’s not important anymore and completely scrapped it from the plot after such huge build up and importance? Or did I really miss something here?
PLEASE someone explain to me what the heck is going on here? It’s bad enough GW has two different species of Undead at the SAME location (Orr), but those two staves are never clarified anywhere in the plots of Guild Wars 1 or 2!
What, why, why, what, who, why, what, who, what, why, why, WHY, WHY?

Does Healing Power make a difference when you have regeneration and skills like Signet of Healing or the Guardian’s healing Virtue?
I was generally planning to go toughness + healing power on my armor before. But should I have gone vitality instead?
Trahearne: I personally find him to be probably worst character. :SPOILERS:
Posted by: Kain Francois.4328
I feel like in some capacity Trahearne will end up being a villain in an expansion.
Oh pleeease make this happen!
Hey guys. How do I get backpacks/backbraces? Besides the ones from the personal story or guild vendor?
I’m not sure whether or not this has been suggested before, but it would be awesome if we could have a makeover NPC which we could pay 400 gems to and we could get credits to redo how our character looks, similar to GW1.
- Dungeons now follow the design principles of GW1.
So instead of the old CM runs we can now do things a la Thunderhead Keep?
…awesome :/
I’d like to see something closer to the principles of GW1’s Bloodstone Caves or Rragar’s Menagerie in Hard Mode..
Not too easy, not too hard.
Dream patch?
- Koss returns from the mists to kill the Elder Dragons himself!
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
I thought all races have the same collision/hitbox?
I assume this is for game play-purposes, not to make things too profession-specific.
Hi. I’m not sure if this is a bug, or if it is intentional, but according to a number of players, the Charrzooka rifle (the actual rifle) doesn’t scale down to Asura players.
If ANET could confirm whether or not this is intentional, it would be nice.
Though my personal feedback is I would love to see more over-sized weapons on Asuras…
Also:
Robert HroudaIt is frustrating and unfair that it is happening, and we’re working on it (it has happened to me as well, and I share your pain). As a dungeon designer, it’s pretty upsetting to see dungeons being thrashed to pieces on forums due to this bug.
People are rightfully upset, and we have the best tech-priests on this side of the Imperium, and we’re all working to resolve this thing ASAP.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/2-6-Silver-and-17-7k-XP/190257
This is great news!
Though, my own personal conspiracy theory is I think ANET was also trying to study how players complete these dungeons.
A holy-trinity-meta hasn’t been discovered yet, or at least it’s very low profile. So in the process of fixing the dungeons, I think ANET has also been studying how players compete against overpowered foes.
In other words, I think they’re collecting data to design better content in the future.
Just my own conspiracy theory here… xD
I wouldn’t have minded Zhaitan simply flying in the sky, or brushing the side of the coast during one of the DEs.
One disappointing thing is that Zhaitan’s size was hyped to be 3x the size of The Shatterer.
However, when you fight him, he seems so tiny because he’s so far away and you’re on a huge ship yourself.
I would have liked to see him tease the player more.
Of course, before doing any of these super-DEs, I hope they fix the crazy mobs in Orr, and especially cursed shore. Enemies are so strong that they are a hassle to fight one by one so many times, and even if you do fight them, they respawn so fast that there’s no point! So you’re forced to run past them!
These bosses are supposed to be fun, not difficult.
Honestly, my only complaint is that Melee can be a little messy visually. I have a hard time figuring out where to attack and when at times. I love immersion when I must attack a red circle than its foot itself.
Honestly, with all the explosive feedback and fact this thread is stickied, how can they NOT rebalance it?
I think an update is in the works, and they’re just making sure it’s good before releasing it.
It makes no sense for a company to shoot itself in the foot, so they obviously have some idea what they’re doing to respond.
We DO know some things are bugged in the update:
This is a bug with our new anti-speed clear tech, and we’ll have it sorted out soon. Sorry you (and others) are getting hosed by this.

(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
My experiences with melee in dungeon are only Pre-Update, but honestly, in those runs I’ve done, I found melee MUCH easier than ranged!
With Melee, not only is it easier to see the foe’s movements and anticipate their attacks, but you also have more blocking options.
When I played my Sylvari Engineer and used my Wrench-melee weapon, I found I had a much easier time in dungeons.
Greatsword Warrior is intended as a glass-cannon weapon, and you shouldn’t depend on it for defense in a dungeon. Especially not Hundred Blades! Try making use of weapon swapping to Mace/Shield to daze the foe and block before you start using Hundred Blades.
Seriously, I don’t think melee needs a change. Just the dungeon design philosophy about the 2KO crap…
Maybe if they change the Defiant mechanic of bosses, we might see Warriors take a more close-range approach since most of their close-range options are balanced around Crowd Control and Stun-like conditions in the first place.
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
More of a suggestion than a complaint, but what about making them more like GW1 mobs? Dungeons (specifically AC) were promised to make us GW1 players feel at home, but they ended up more like a Boss Gauntlet where every foe could 2KO you.
Have mobs of 4-8 foes instead of 1-3, who are less powerful, but more in number.
Mobs should be fun to fight, and not frustrating. Even CM Pre-update was ridiculous with its 2KOs (But not that bad once you learned to abuse enemy blind spots…)
Right now we are working hard to make sure there are not any ways for players to circumvent the normal rewards in the game and then we will be able to look at the actual rewards and make sure they require a reasonable amount of investment.
In other words, I think ANET is still balancing things out and this is only temporary?
Looking forward to the real fixes, but I am curious to see how ANET calms the crowd.
Unless Arah Story Mode was changed recently, I don’t see what’s so difficult. I find this an easy dungeon with cool bosses.
Tips:
1. At the part with the eyeballs, DO NOT melee them! Use range!
2. When you fight the fat boss who summons grubs, KILL THE GRUBS!
3. When you fight the Stomach boss, make sure to troll the magma stones at him when he begins sucking things up.
4. During the aid ship part with the assault of the two dragons, try to pull the foes away and ambush them one at a time in the interior. It’s not hard. You just need a team of humans instead of robots.
Another thing to note is that this already invalidates the Official Strategy Guide because now we need to use totally different strategies.
They didn’t change Arah Story Mode yet though, did they?
I am sure ANET is reading all the explosive feedback.
I sympathize with the people who hate this patch, and I am sure this upsetting change is only temporary.
REQUEST: More customization with customizable music play lists.

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328
I would like to second this. I have music which would only be appropriate in Orr and not appropriate in Queensdale.
Please implement this, ANET!
So I’ve already maxed completely my Sylvari Engineer and Human Warrior. I do not know what class to max next. Anyone have ideas?
(Human Street Rat) Personal Story: Breaking Blade (Death, death, more death)
Posted by: Kain Francois.4328
Am I the only one without problems? My advice is to pull them and properly use cover.
I really like the event idea.
When starting the human story, I was really fond of characters like Riot Alice, and I was disappointed that the last time she appeared was the (hilarious) fight against the circus.
The Home Instance would give ANET a way to better develop some of the earlier, memorable characters who disappeared later in the story.
