1 patch per week is glorious compared to GW1. I’ll take it!
I see Lion’s Arch at non-interventionist. As a multi-racial city of all races, they wish to avoid conflicts, so long as people follow the rules within their city.
I’m really wondering what the Dominion of Winds will look like.
Something like Shing Jea Monastery with snow, cherry blossoms, and Chinese/Japanese-inspire infrastructures? Or something very green, like Kryta? (Or much like the Dominion of Winds wall itself.)
And what about Tengus participating in the Zhaitan personal-storyline? Surely the script will be slightly altered to allow them to join their order and such?
Also, Talon Silverwing? He was always the coolest henchie in GW1, so what legend di he make?
You can use pretty much any mat, honestly.
Carrion armor is made with VERY cheap bones.
With some VERY quick and dirty number crunching, I estimate the total mat costs 1.52G. But I sold a Carrion armor piece for 1.92G or so. Minus the tax and I’d say that was a profit between 20-30s too, and it was a lot less of a gamble than blood.
Why leather in particular is because leather is the cheapest and most widely available compared to Gossamer and Orichalcum.
Considering the fact it’s dumb for my profits to have posted the story period, I’m obviously not trying to inflate anything.
If anything, I see prices of Blood continuing to decrease because they are overfarmed.
I’m not an economist. Just trying to share my story and hopefully inspire others to do more than sell their mats.
So recently I began looking into crafting for my GW2 endgame. I was surprised to see that the costs to create exotic material was so cheap compared to the prices from selling them.
I’m selling Berserker’s Emblazoned armors, and I noticed the cost to create the armor is less than to sell.
5 Vial of Blood = 66S
5 Ecto = 94S
6 Goss = 46S
20 Spool = 12S
____________
Cost= 2.18 GOLD
However, after checking people’s bids for certain armor pieces, I found they sell for up to 2.55 GOLD!
With minus 8S as tax, we gain 2.47 worth of gold.
So with simple grade 2 math:
2.47
- 2.18
_
0.29S
In less than 10 minutes, without combat, we can make nearly 30Silver! On a lucky day, we can make more money than CM Pre-Nerf! Heck yeah!
Black Lion had a pretty rocky start, but now that’s it’s finished, I’d say it’s good enough to compete with MannCo! Thank you ANET, for the power traders’ wet dream come true!

While Hoelbrak is much more beautiful, I have to say that Divinity’s Reach is a lot more welcoming and iconic for GW2.
Gold sellers now including 1 copper in their mail so you can't delete it...
Posted by: Kain Francois.4328
Because if they truly cared about their “24/7 support” and customer satisfaction, they would totally make mail you cannot delete!
In all seriousness, I don’t get the logic. They think if someone can’t figure out how to delete their mail that they would visit their website? And this doesn’t make them look worse than they are?
Even if there wasn’t something wrong with gold selling, what they’re doing is HORRIBLE advertising!
Stop harassing people and get a real job!
Here’s to hope they are a playable race in an expansion… Tengu are REALLY cool, and they seem to have all the lore set up for it.
As beautiful of a game that GW2 is, dungeons need to be severely reworked. Coming from the same company which made GW1 and numerous awesome instances, I am scratching my head how suddenly they could mess up so badly?
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
I understand ANET wishes to implement a DR system as a safety net for exploits, but honestly I think this system is quite silly in the long run, and it’s even worse because of the fact ANET released such a buggy update.
Imagine if in the Fissure of Woe we received NO chest rewards because we cleared it in 25 minutes instead of 60 minutes.
Furthermore, tokens are account bound and have NO effect whatsoever on the economy! So why a DR reward system in the first place for tokens?
You shouldn’t punish players for being efficient. Especially in a game where you removed the /age feature from checking how long we were inside an instance (This was in the beta…)
There will always be players breaking records. Why punish them after they work their butts off?
Clearly there is not one positive comment of feedback on this thread. If there is, I might have overlooked it compared to the flood of complaints.
Why is ANET shooting themselves in the foot? Dungeons are already hard enough, so why take a dump on the rewards?
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
Me and my friend wanted to gamble earlier, and that’s when we noticed GW2 lacks a /roll emote for dice.
I know it seems like a very minor suggestion, but details like this really make a big difference. GW2 should have a /roll emote like GW1.
Also, what about the /taunt emote?
The update sounds good on paper, but rewards are still bugged, and some dungeons are still too difficult.
I ask for the sake of immersion.
When does it makes sense to stop the personal story to work on a dungeon? Obviously if Claw Island is under Seiege it doesn’t make sense to go into Twilight Arbor halfway across the world.. So in between which quests do the dungeons even occur? Which specific quests?
I like the token update. You still work for it, but on paper it doesn’t seem like too much grind (180 tokens a day)
I just want to say thank you for finally turning down the annoying sounds at Godslost Swamp. Thank you!
The issue is when do they take place in between each particular quest?
1:47 sums it up pretty nicely.
That, and they’re too busy playing Keg Brawl.
Something which really bothered me and ruined immersion throughout GW2 is WHEN should dungeons be taking place?
We know AC takes place after the Destiny’s Edge meeting, CM BEFORE you meet Demmi Beetlestone in the Whispers storyline, and CoF somewhere after Claw Island.
But what is the real timeline that dungeons take place in? When, for the purpose of immersion, should I be doing the dungeons in my personal story?
If ANET wants to improve him in the expansions, they need to do the following things:
1. Make us leader. Make Trahearne the Tactician. Trahearne is a clueless scholar who always consulted with you about the options before missions. How incompetent can he be as leader? Why not make him the tactician since that is what he does best, while we lead through the strategies?
2. Tell us Trahearne as a person. We know he is a firstborn and Orr scholar, but what kind of person is he? Hobbies, for example.
3. Give him more emotion and character development. As it stands, he remains blank even when his fellow Sylvari die. What could an Elder Dragon do to impact him so personally that he breaks down because of it? What could happen to him to change his outlook on life and personality as a character?
4. Have him help the player more. Most players complain he is useless during the story, and didn’t even help fight Zhaitan. Even Logan redeemed himself in the end when he brought out the biggass ship during the Zhaitan fight! So give Trahearne a more helpful role in the storyline to help you rather than tell you what to do.
5. Give him less spotlight. Players hate him. You can’t force people to like him by shoving him down our throats. But you can subtly change our minds if he takes a more backseat role.
Perfect Gem Sink!
Does it give you armor and stats OUTSIDE water?
Also, why hasn’t anet given us a disable button yet? It looks horrible with my armor…
Please ANET, have Zhaitan do new things entirely instead of sitting on the tower summoning foes and launching black circle AoEs… Bring him up close to the ship!
DEATH… GOOD.
In all seriousness, Orr is prettykittenfrustrating until Cursed Shore.
Straits of Devstation is frustrating because there are just too many swarms of foes unless you’re zerging.
Meanwhile, Malhor’s Leap is ABANDONED! period
Cursed Shore on the other hand is a pretty fun place to go with a variety of events, nice rewards, farms, and a sweet dungeon!
If I had any suggestion, it is to tone down the mobs at Malchor’s Leap (Since it is abandoned), and to remove the immobilize/pulling attacks from the Risen.
Cursed Shore is a pretty fun explorable area though!
I tried it but for some reason my team kept dying.
Either the team was horribad or something is wrong with the boss where sometimes teams can cream them and other times fail.
I’ve been on both success and fail runs, but we’ve used the same tactics. Maybe the team was just bad?
I would like to see an update for unique rewards for each path. Sort of like how each dungeon in GW1 had unique drops from the chest. We need the different paths in GW2 to have a unique endchest.
The difference is that on rare occasions you get an inconsequential dialogue option that requires your specific personality type to select. That’s it.
Which is sad, because this system was perfect to set up cutscene dialogue branches, if Anet had been of a mind to do so.
We discussed this earlier in development, but ultimately didn’t have the time or resources to execute on it. It would have required programming resources to allow the CCs to branch, tools support to enable content creation, and a coordinate effort between content design and writing to implement on a meaningful scale. Too many other features took priority.
Perhaps this is something we can consider going forward, as many people want it (including some of us). No promises, though.
Basically, incomplete mechanic planned for an expansion, but no guarantee.
Oh well… Still excited to see if it’s implemented!
Price is fine if it’s an elite skin. But why is it rare and not exotic? If you spend 100g, I think you deserve level 80 exotic armor…
William FairfieldHello Everyone.
There is currently a problem with Zhaitan’s attacks during his final phase.
An upcoming patch will address this issue. Thanks for your patience
PR language :P
But seriously, the whole community hopes we get to fight Zhaitan more closeup than the minions.
Do you feel pressured to support GW2 via the cash shop? Why or Why not?
Posted by: Kain Francois.4328
I spent $60 on the game. Any other game to charge that much money was Mushihimesama Futari for the Xbox360 and that’s supposed to be an exotic game.
Why are people complaining about Black or Jewish? What about a Japanese Charr?
kittenit ANET is racist! They wont let my Charr be Japanese!
The fight is more incomplete than bugged.
You can still fight him and beat him and all.. But if you ever played Zelda Ocarina of Time, imagine if Gannon just sat in one place while you can just kill him without him doing anything to you.
Imagine Godzilla is at the top of a building, and you kept shooting at him with guns. Except that godzilla didn’t fight back. That’s Zhaitan. He just had a seizure the whole fight…
Rewards are bugged too (officially confirmed) so there is no point to fight him unless for plot.
So I’m the only one without camera problems?
Hey, I really like the idea of the Mail system in GW2, but something which pains me about it is no outbox/sent mail.
That’s generally a stable with any sort of mail system.. So my idea is to implement an outbox/sent mail in the GW2 mail system.
I remember that show!
Bombs baby, bombs!
If I was Arenanet I would wait to see how things go for Valve first. We should see the steam linux beta next month if all goes to plan and a small selection of titles moving over each week. Within 3 months or so there should be enough data to say of its worth it or not. I’d love a linux client, but Im also aware of the additional costs involved.
Makes sense… Guess I’ll use PlayonLinux in the meantime .-.
Wanna know what I really think is worse than both Kormir and Trahearne combined? Characters in the Guild Wars universe so despicable, so annoying, so ungrateful, that this thread had to be created?
The Dredge.
We saved theirkitten what, MULTIPLE times in Guild Wars 1! And how do they repay us? Not even a little thank you!? No, instead they kitten attacked us in the Echavold Forest right after we saved theirkitten from the Stone Summit with their weird BDSM fetish!
So after tolerating their crap and killing Urgoz, once again they’re captured by the Stone Summit BDSM kittens! Whoopdiedoo! We have to save them again at Vloxen’s Excavations!
And how did they thank us for saving them again? Maybe a gold, or a chest with some of the valueable loot they found? But no, they tell us they’re tookitten scared to continue on in the dungeon to investigate Zoldork or whoever the boss was, so we have to risk our lives AGAIN just to make them happy!
Fast forward 250 years. You’d think after so many years of humans saving theirkitten they would maybe trade with us? Maybe show a little gratitude for the Hero of Tyria? But no! Not only do they harass me when I’m trying to get ONE kitten waypoint, but they keep randomly attacking the Durmand priory and stealing OUR resources!
Know what? kitten the Dredge! For the next GW2 expansion, I nominate a Dredge to be the leech because I could at least tolerate Trahearne and Kormir compared to these unappreciative kitten!
And you want to know the absolute WORST about them of all? It’s not their nerdy voice, disgusting faces, or their awful personality… THEY’RE COMMUNISTS!!!
Level 80 Engineer, Happiness 10
So many ways to play! So fun and technical!
It’s definitely not a beginner profession, but once you learn the game, Engineers are freaking amazing!
Looking for pictures of Aidan's, Shiro's and Nika's Coat on both Male/Female
Posted by: Kain Francois.4328
You can get Shiro’s armor in GW2!?!?
I support the idea of a Linux client considering I am a Linux user myself. Even Valve is porting their games to Linux!
nce a thing that tends to happen with those is that people will claim we’re wearing special dev armor and dev weapons.
I thought ANET uses an entirely different profession? You know.. Commandos?
Engineer, born at Dusk – He decided to join the Iron Legion and that the Pale tree can go screw herself!
Guns baby, guns! And grenades, fire, and turrets! Who the hell needs tree-magic when you have a kitten FLAMETHROWER!?
Technically, the Dream can be thought of as one big orgy.
Charr should have been the main enemy. Undead are boring and repetitive.
in Lore
Posted by: Kain Francois.4328
GW has always been about zombies!
First you had the Orrian zombies in Prophecies commanded by the Sceptor of Orr and an Undead Lich…. Then you had Afflicted in Factions.. And then in Nightfall you had Palawa Joko and his worthless bits of animated anatomy!
The only GW campaign not about zombies was Eye of the North…
My main complaint about zombies in GW2 was the fact that the story did not delve into the different “species” of Undead. Unlike the Risen, Joko’s undead are each unique individuals with a consciousness and personality, as opposed to a mindless corpse.
If we were shown different kinds of undead, then the Risen would have established a more unique identity for themselves besides just being zombies…
Even before Nightfall, the Afflicted established a very unique lore and appearance for themselves which differentiated from a Necromancer’s minions and Orr’s Undead. However, the perspective of GW2 was just… Zombies…
Anyways, Guild Wars has always been about Undead, and I actually like how zombies are the major enemy instead of a Halloween foe like in other games. I just think the perspective could have been better.
I think the biggest issue of all is how he was introduced. Seriously. Right after our favorite characters die, such as Tybalt and Sieran, out comes Mr. Blank Salad that the game shoves down our throats when we’re not really given many reasons or backstory to like him. He’s just.. There. And suddenly he becomes super-important.
If he was introduced much earlier than he was, I could forgive Trahearne. However, his introduction is just way too coincidental that I am scared to check TVTropes…
Remember in Guild Wars Prophecies when the player Ascended? How awesome and baddass you felt? How come we didn’t have more moments like that since then? Instead, the NPCs seem to get the shiny weapon and stuff…
Go magic find. A full set gives roughly 250+ magic find… That’s 2.5x more likely to get rare drops!
U mean:
1. Grinding Cursed Shore: killing mobs over and over again and earning karma for nothing.
2. Grinding trolls over and over again just for mats.
3. Grind dungeons over and over again to earn bilion of tokens.
4. Killing the same bosses over and over again to get nothing.
5. 100% map ~ 3 days after hit 80.
6. Zerg Versus Zerg aka WvW. Yes it’s endgame but after taking the same castle over and over again for nothing it’s boring.Endgame is fine?
Gw2 is a game. Not a job. You do whatever you wan to do. And if you get bored, you simply stop playing for a bit and go farm some real cash.
I don’t play many other MMOs, so I’m not sure what to compare it to. But I honestly feel I got my money’s worth for an online game released only 1 month ago! What kind of endgame content are people expecting?
Xenogears for example has practically no endgame. And it lasted me a solid complete 100 hours of gameplay! (Pokemon Gold/Silver on the other hand had waaaaay too much endgame!)
Farming is simply how I choose to enjoy GW2 at level 80! (Dopamine gogogo!)
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
Cursed Shore has this tunnel area with events appearing on the north and south of it, with continuous mobs charging you at the south. It’ the tunnel with the coral. I forgot the 2 waypoint names, but think you might know what I’m referring to? Try there.
My opinion is they should just do like GW1 and let us wear Town Clothing in combat.
There’s some REALLY awesome clothes like the pirate outfit and the top hat, but unlike GW1, we can’t wear them in combat!
If I’m a mesmer, I should be able to wear a top hat in combat! :/
