Mesmer Portal trivializes so much content

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kain Francois.4328

I believe a mesmer’s portal is actually core to many strategies and speedruns, and I would like to see it stay simply because it’s such a neat tactic for advanced players.

Mesmers are not masters of damage. They are support. Having such utility like this is part of what makes them such a big team player even though their damage is minimal.

Kain Francois.4328

I switched to a Warrior long ago.

Grenades are cool and all, but they’re just not worth it because your finger will hurt after spamming 11111 for so long. It’s also annoying to have to aim EVERY attack, with a chance of it missing.

It’s understandable because grenades stack 25 vulnerability on foes and a multitude of condition with ease, but I would really love other options.

Hip Shot is lame lame laaaaame, and and Explosive Shot is weak weak weeaaaak!

The Wrench can only hit 1 foe with the final attack of his 1-combo, and his 3 skill. It tries to be a mace-wannabe but instead of the useful weakness condition, it applies vulnerability for a few seconds and goes away.

The Elixir Gun also deals pathetic damage, but at least it gets a plus for being a support weapon in dungeons, and to be fair I do think it’s fairly balanced as a range weapon stacking bleed on a single foe. I just wish Fumigate (or whatever its called) dealt more damage. It’s like it was missing an extra 0 to its damage because 132 damage at level 80 is NOT worth it!

Flamethrower is… Not very useful beyond the 1 skill. The fire field is too hard to use with blast finishers because it’s so small, and the 2-skill (projectile) is unreliable.

Sentries die too quickly and are not mobile. The fact they go into recharge when you pick them up makes it not worth it picking them up in the first place. Making matters worse, they’re squishy too! Why even use them?

Bomb Kit is ok, even awesome, but very risky. It’s actually balanced in my opinion. I just wish the “autoattack” had more range to continue autoattacking.

Anyways that is my feedback so far. I really feel Engineer is an uncomfortable class to play, and not sure what they can do outside Grenades.

So good. Legendaries were ridiculous in the first place.

Since they nerfed Plinx, it makes sense that Karma should be obtainable in other ways.

Really, no waypoints should be no issue for GW1 veterans. Broken armor is reminiscent of 60% DP and armor canisters are dp cons.

But what would be nice are more efficient means to resurrect KOed players like we could in GW1.

Oh, and a /resign command to kill everyone. Please. That should solve the problem about players being unable to be rezzed.

Honestly, I don’t believe Ascended gear will take over the game if the stat boost is so miniscule in total.

+40 vitality is just a visual aesthetic because it doesn’t allow you to mitigate anymore damage than another player at level 80.

Infusions affect normal stats!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kain Francois.4328

Enjoy your +30 total vitality.

How many more hits does that actually mitigate at level 80? After thinking about it, I’m convinced the number is so small it doesn’t even make a difference.

It’s like taking 200 damage when you have only 165 HP instead of 150. It doesn’t make a difference.

They might not be breaking their manifesto if they do this right. That is because it is possible numbers will be so miniscule that it makes no difference in level 80 combat.

I’m already a fan of dungeon, but all the silver rewards from bosses made it a treat!

I just wish they slightly lowered the level 80 loot requirement to about level 40 because of the importance of Blazerige Steps as a “Dragon Zone”, and I wish the loot chance was 50% or even 75% instead of 25%.

Knocklock/stun dungeon frontliner?

in Warrior

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

So I decided to sheath GS/Rifle in order to pursue a more supportive role. I want to try out a knocklock/stun build for a frontliner role.

My current weaponset is mace+shield/hammer.

Problem is, how should I spec my traits? Generally I go 30 Arms because I LOVE crits, and to get the trait “crits grant extra adrenaline” and 30 Discipline for “20% faster burst recharge”. That leaves me with 10 Defense.

So at the moment I’m at 30 Arms, 10 Defense, 30 Discipline.

My strategy is to spam as much burst skills possible by abusing the Fast Hands trait (when it works…)

Does anyone have advice how I can improve my traits setup? In addition, what sigils should I use on my mace, shield, and hammer? I was thinking of +5% crit chance…

Accessories were a messy line in the first place, so it’s good to see a standard for them finally being set with the ascended tier.

As for Ascended weapons and armor, considering all the feedback, I’m sure ANET has something in mind so as not to make our exotics obsolete. My guess is an armor “upgrader”.

Turn all dungeon gear from Exotic to Ascended

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

Going back to the OP’s post, the auto-upgrade of level 80 Dungeon Exotics (both armor and weapons) being automatically buffed to Ascended status is something I would support. (I also support the same happening for T3 Cultural armor, but for some reason people don’t seem as keen on it.)

At the same time, there already exist several items in the game that are extremely expensive to produce, but are not quite Legendary status, like Mystic Weapons, the Triforge Pendant, Infinite Light, Foefire etc. These items should also be buffed to Ascended status, or even made into new Legendaries.

Heh, yeah.. I hope offtopic posts here get deleted..

I’m pretty sure items like Volcanus and Foefire should deserve ascended status though, since they cost about 300g+ to produce. Even t3 cultural… (But ANET wanted us to buy transmutation stones…?)

One way to make the Ascended tier fiasco be more fair is to convert all current Exotic dungeon armor into Ascended.

This part of Chris White’s post is a relief:

We will not be adding a new tier of gear every 3 months that we expect everyone to chase after and then get the next set and so on.

Because of that quote, I am assuming ANET will not add a new tier of armor (But I also worry they may spin it because of the “every 3 months” thing…)

However…

We are also working on other reward and progression systems for the game that tie into current and new content and features.

This part has me very worried…

I would really like ANET to re-assure us there would be no more tiers past Ascended.

Upgrader NPC for exotic to ascended

What if we had an NPC who, for 1g each armor piece will soulbound and upgrade any piece of exotic armor to ascended?

Since the fee is so moderate and it soulbinds items on upgrade, this could function a lot like weapon customization in Guild Wars 1.

Wouldn’t an upgrader NPC like that resolve all the conflict currently created by Ascended items?

This would make it so exotic items are still of value to players and really solve all the problems in my opinion.

One of the warrior minor traits has 33% chance to bleed with NO cooldown! (That I know of…)

I can confirm sigil of earth, on the other hand, does have a cooldown, of about maybe 3 seconds. It’s still my sigil of choice however.

Runes

It seems a bit hasty to conclude that the new ascended gear are a “must have” for situations other than ones where baddies can inflict “agony”. Looking for the positives here – I don’t think Anet will make exotics obsolete (and clearly piss nearly everyone off) and force people into a gear treadmill for “must-haves”.

The Ascended gear does not account for set bonus given by runes. If anything, perhaps the Ascended gear might become a “third set/fourth set” that one wears for specific instances if they choose to do them (when bored with Plinx, etc). MF set, wvw set, now Ascended set for Fractals.

Many seem to be jumping to the conclusion that the difference between, say, an Exotic coat or pants vs the Ascended coat/pants will be of X% such that Ascended will necessarily make exotics obsolete. We simply do not know this to be the case yet, escpecially considering the lack of rune options on the Ascended.

Considering the explosive feedback, this is a very good idea.

I love Rune of the Soldier on my Warrior. This would be a great way to not make exotics obsolete.

A more optimistic question: Will we be able to buy and craft Ascended gear on the trade post like any other armor?

Furthermore, will we be able to obtain stats like Power+Vitality+Toughness?

A minority of us prefer to grind Risen in Cursed Shore, and don’t actually like dungeons..

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kain Francois.4328

Again, I really want to repeat my suggestion that ANET please do not add ascended armor or weapons.

Guild Wars 2 endgame is supposed to be about appearance over stats, as was GW1.

Accessories do not matter because they are not visual, and backpacks were so few to begin with.

However, many players are currently very attached to their armor and weapons, especially those who spent countless hours grinding in dungeons. We would literally have to transmute every item we have to the “ascended” stats.

And many of us even worry that the new “ascended” armor will not have the stats we want! (Such as Precision+Toughness+Condition Damage…)

Please do not change the armor or weapon system. It is fine the way it is.

Thank you!

However, Cursed Shore on the other hand is an events amusement park with great loot and farming. I like hat, because it actually succeeds well as a high end area.

Endgame SHOULD be an events amusement park because one of primary objectives of endgame is farming.
