Rifle animation change?

in Engineer

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

Just a wild hunch, but maybe they’re going to change the Rifle animation of “Hip Shot”?

In the Lost Shores promotion, they show a character with the iconic Engineer armor (42k Medium) and The Predator legendary rifle.

Why would they show the Engineer with a scoped rifle if they shoot from their hips?

Is it possible they might finally change the animation? Or better, give us a proper build for Rifles instead of a shotgun?

From the linked article:

Visually, the Karka will feature a heavily armored shell of sorts that players will have to penetrate. ArenaNet has even worked on a new shader technology that allows players to actually see pieces of the armor fall off of the Karka as they wear it down.
That all comes later, though. Initially, players will be unable to penetrate the Karka’s armor and it’s this roadblock that will kick off a series of events taking players throughout the world as they learn about the Karka’s origins and research a means to get through theseemingly impenetrable armor.

This sounds literally EXACTLY like “Hey guys, so the Mursaat have this thing called Spectral Agony, and yeah, it’ll kitten you up. Oh, also you can’t see them. You need to ascend so you can see them and infuse your armor so they don’t 2 shot you. Here, go talk to this dude. He’ll have you do some junk and things and you’ll be all set.”

Am I the only one that sees this or do people here honestly just get the jollies from complaining about stuff no one knows anything about yet?

Thank you for echoing what my other post said. This could very well be a good thing too due to the return of the Mursaat.

In all seriousness, I don’t think ANET is stupid enough to introduce gear progression. If they really used the word “Infusion”, then that actually makes me excited for Mursaat!

If ANET could still introduce armor progression after reading this thread, then I don’t know who exactly is their target market.

On the other hand, it could be like “Infused” armor from GW1, or they could be introducing something like an Insignia slot? If the armor was only usable in that one dungeon, then it would be ok. Maybe we will see Mursaat with Spectral Agony? That would be cool!

2) They removed the tank, DPS, support from the game. Probably the stupidest move I have ever seen happen. The game plays like WoW without a tank or healer, mobs just run all over the place and people are kiting for their lives. Utter chaos and it removes so much strategy and planning from the game. Its a mindless zergfest now. Having those intricate class roles and creating a viable team was a lot of what makes MMOs engrossing when grouping. Its like a football team with nothing but running backs, and no playbooks, and no designated player positions.

Not sure what you’re referring to, but tanking was replaced by Crowd Control.
Try playing Warrior Ball. It’s the lulziest build ever since even bosses are knocklocked….

And healing still exists, especially with a Water elementalist!

My only question is WHY they would make such likeable characters only to replace them with Saladhead? And IF they were capable of making the 3 mentors so likeable, why couldn’t Trahearne have been as likeable as the other 3?

I mean, think about it for a moment. Traherne had a lot of wasted potential as a shy scholar character who over time develops into a hardened battler as the player’s strength and valor inspires him to stop cowering behind others, and to join others in the frontline fight against Zhaitan. The Pale Tree, acknowledging his revelation and fascinated with his renewed motivation, trusts him with the legendary Caladblog to purify Orr while you take the battle to Zhaitan’s doorsteps. With the combined forces of your raw strength and Trahearne’s diplomacy, you work together to lead an army, eventually destroying Zhaitan.

Unfortunately, the execution wasn’t as thrilling as it sounds, and the character development of Trahearne felt nonexistent because his traits as a shy scholar felt non-existent.

Longbow burst deals damage?

in Warrior

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

Is it just me, or is the Longbow Burst capable of dealing damage, and even critting? I noticed being able to deal large AoE CRITICAL damage over time when farming earlier with it, and we all know burn cannot critical.

So the longbow burst deals damage? What do you all think of it? My impressions are it’s pretty weak, especially since it does not deal constant damage but only once every 3 seconds or so.

Advice for dps war?

in Warrior

Kain Francois.4328

If you’re planning to do dungeons, use the “Knight’s” set with Emerald accessories. These grant Power, Precision, and Toughness. Defense is VERY important, so you want as much Toughness as possible!

For runes, use a Rune of the Soldier set which removes conditions on shout usage.

You will want to trait 30 into Tactics and 10 into Discipline. The rest of your traits can go anywhere else. This setup is important because 10 Discipline grants 20% less signet cooldown and 30 Tactics not only provides extended boon duration, but also decreased shout recharge, regen banners, HEALING shouts, and PERMANENT 13 Might, Fury and near-perma swiftness!

This setup allows you to do varying degrees of support and offense. One strategy is to combine Signet of Might, For Great Justice, and Signet of Rage for the perma-might, fury, and the swiftness. Another strategy is to conjure up banners to buff and regenerate allies.

However, the pinnacle of Warriors are the shouts. Rune of the Soldier removes conditions off of all your allies whenever you use a shout, and the healing shouts trait grants your team 1.25k HP each time you use a shout.

DPS in GW2 matters most when you can actually stay alive. Feel free to go “Glass Cannon”, but support is the key to DPS in GW2!

I personally believe this image to be true:

Official Response: Drop Rate of Legendary Precursors

Kain Francois.4328

While I’ll admit I’m part of the crowd in favor of making legendaries easier, I don’t necessarily believe they’re currently “impossible” either.

As it stands, someone can easily make 15g/day just by playing the game. ANET said they wanted legendaries to be a longterm goal of exactly 3 months.

Now that the game has been out for 3 months, I am seeing Twilight everywhere here on Northern Shiverpeaks!

It’s kinda silly to believe only 5% have legendaries since anyone who farms for it can get it eventually, and we’re seeing that happen now.

The only issue in my opinion is the Mystic Forge RNG trap being virtually the only means of production, which is unable to meet the demand for Dusk. The inflation in my opinion is a result of too many people wanting it and bidding higher than the others while waiting for a new Dusk to be placed on the Trade Post.

Risen Quotes - What do they mean?

in Audio

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

What exactly do the Risen quotes mean? We know for a fact the Risen are intelligent, skilled not just in the art of war tactics but also in science (as they are capable of medical surgery), so what exactly do their quotes mean?

Self explanatory quotes:
“Death… Good.” – They are zombies!
“It’s done.” – Angry you ran from combat.

Quotes I’m wondering about:
“It begins.” – ??? (What begins? This one has me scratching my head the most.)
“Return. Die.” – ??? (Return to what? Return to death? Something we return to?)
“Return to Orr… – ??? (Something Abomination says. Implying all life began in Orr?)

I’m seriously wondering what they mean? Anyone else have quotes which make them wonder?

Incentives to keep Shrines+Arah

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

One way to fix Orr in my opinion is to give us better reasons to keep Shrines captured and defending Arah.

As it stands, it is much more rewarding to allow Shrines to be captured, and in some cases, to not even capture the Shrine in the first place! (Grenth.)

So how can we create more incentives to maintain shrines? First and foremost, grant us a chest for defending them.

With the recent update to Defend Arah, there is absolutely no reason to spend 20+ minutes killing the High Wizard all over again with no chest reward, especially when we lack a pact Army or 30+ people to defeat this insane boss. So the simple solution? Add a chest reward!

As for the god shrines themselves, add different kinds of foes all over Orr depending on what’s captured. Currently we get sparks for Dwayna and Earth Elementals for Melandru, but this needs to be tone up more to replace Trash Mobs. This would be a great thing to do since it would help with the Kill Variety achievement, Lodestone farming, and eliminating the stupid Risen crowd control foes.

Direct rewards for capturing a Shrine should be by defending it rather than assaulting it. If we look at Grenth, people purposely fail it because it allows them to farm. So why not reverse that? Allow captured shrines to trigger Dynamic Events which repeat often involving large clusters of mobs followed by a second event repeating the Shrine Priest. Defeating them rewards the chest.

In short, why not have the epic Dynamic events to farm AFTER we cap the shrine, and why not use this as an excuse to weed some Risen out of the area?

Halloween Event Feedback

Kain Francois.4328

-Ghost Hunt- 5/10
It was nice exploring some unexplored parts of the game and the story was interesting, but it felt really bland somehow. There simply wasn’t enough action.

-Clock Tower- 7/10
A fun challenge for the most dedicated players. It’s a fun jumping puzzle BECAUSE the rewards do not force you to do it! There for the incentive is simply the achievement from completing it. I really like that about Clock tower. It’s something you try three times, have fun, and then try again the next day, eventually clearing it. I really love it. My only complaints with clock tower are the bad camera collision (sometimes going first-person after the first part), and the fact that Charr and Norn can get in the way.

-Mad King Labyrinth- 8/10
This would have been 10/10 had you not nerfed chests. The Mad King Labyrinth is the pure example of a great level 80 zone for farming. It’s built so that teams travel in a zerg due to the terrain design and density of foes. Due to the nature of this design, players needn’t worry about bots due to the difficulty of botting such a zone. My only complaint was that the chests were nerfed, which made it kinda pointless to do the champion events… Please put it back to the way it was in its introduction!

-Mad King boss fight- 9/10
A memorable boss fight with multiple stages and pleasant rewards! And being so easy to farm, it’s no wonder why everyone loves this pumpkin-headed pinata so much! But in all seriousness, he was an excellent boss fight and I LOVED the platforming involved! My complaints are that he wasn’t hard enough, and although farming him was pleasant, he simply wasn’t difficult enough! Make him deal more damage next Halloween, and make his fear last a bit longer to make it more risky fighting near the edges. Also, please fix the camera bug after fighting him where it zooms out unless you restart the GW client.

Overall though, this was an excellent event, and I want to thank ANET for the great fun!
