On Elona:
Elona was a wonderful service to those of us here with a Middle Eastern/North African cultural background. In fact, I would go so far to say it is a shining example that does our culture justice.
Consider this: In a majority other games today, whenever the Middle East and North Africa are represented, they are usually war torn and poor, caught amidst a conflict involving radical Islamic insurgents. Do you know how it feels to see my people represented like that game, after game, after game, after game? It is an offensive stereotype, and I am getting tired seeing it in every major military shooter made today.
The MENA (Middle-Eastern & North African) region is full of rich culture and deep folklore. Everything from the Elon river mirroring the real life Nile River, to the beautiful palaces of Vabbi, and PALAWA JOKO being one of the most interesting takes on a Pharaoh in awhile. Besides, who could forget the lovable Dervish profession!? I really have to say ArenaNet really did their research on our culture, and did us justice.
ArenaNet, you appealed to the MENA culture without resorting to stereotypes. That is a huge accomplishment, and that is why it is important you consider Elona for the future of Guild Wars 2.
Thanks,
Lover of Elona

Hi, I heard the Desolation server makes 10g/hour farming Karkas.
Any US servers that also farm karka?
What?
Isn’t Gift of Light account bound?
Will the change to Ascended Gear making them acc bound let us provide infinite ascended gear across all our alts? Or is it just the single set we own that becomes account bound?
I’m wondering if it is worth it to buy a second zerker set of ascended trinkets, for my alts?
Is it confirmed that it will remain untouched?
Did they ever release more information about the Mystic Forge nerf?
Mystic Forge
The Mystic Forge is going to get a lot of changes this year. To kick things off, we’re adjusting the way Zommoros distributes rare and exotic rewards a bit, allowing for more variation in output. This is just a stepping stone to further changes that will make the Mystic Forge a much better experience in the future. Please note: the rate of precursors will not be affected.
I’m worried they will nerf crafting mat upgrading…
How fun >_>
Create character, get 100% in RS, delete character, rinse and repeat..
Is this really how this (or any other for that matter) game is supposed to be played?
You could also explore The Grove and Divinity’s Reach if you want variety!
lol, the answers here are classic xD
Buy more gems.
So the prestige of having a legendary is completely gone. We will see level 1 key farmers with legendary weapons and T3 cultural. Tell me ANET, what incentive do we have to keep playing your game?
Just like the level 4 player inside Hell’s Precipice in GW1!

What are we supposed to do about the mind-numbing boredom factor here?
Farm more stones! And keys!
Hey y’all. With the announcement that 1/3 of our Transmutation Stones (low-level) will be converted to crystals/charges, this seems like the PERFECT Opportunity to start farming farm completion for FREE transmutations in the feature patch!
Each world completion rewards 3 transmutation stones. This means for every map you clear, you recieve 1 crystal.
While that seems slow at first, keep in mind this can easily be FARMED by re-rolling an alt and exploring CITIES Like Rata Sum and The Grove, which are super-easy to 100%.
What this means, is that every 20-30 mins by clearing places like The Grove, you earn 1 Transmutation Crystal, or a chance at BL keys.
What’re you waiting for? START FARMING!
I believe this is true. The Sylvari favoritism is that bad.
As a writer myself, I’m taking note. This sums everything up incredibly well done; you hit the nail on the head with Ogden’s hammer.
Perhaps the biggest problem you noticed about Scarlet, is the fact she never interacts with anyone…
I will admit though, she did have two very memorable commanders, though: Mai Trin and First Mate Horrik
By Ogden’s Hammer, what ravings!
Fortunately, yes. GW2 is heading a good way… very, very slowly up a steep hill covered in grease. They’re progressing… slowly… but one wrong move and they fall bak down again.
On one hand: epic world bosses, new maps, QoL updates, ascended gear (which was good in the long-run), updated reward systems, interesting living world events, awesome new composers (BETTER than Jeremy Soule!), a return to Dragons, new trait system, etc…
On the other hand: Some of the rewards make no freakinng sense (only 3g for Arah P4!?), STILL using temporary content Living World to replace the Personal Story, questionable balance decisions (ferocity, new ranger traits, etc…), and too much temporary cash shop items. Also, the sheer fact Black Lion Chests exist. I know ANET wants to make some money, but I question the ethics of exploiting fans with gambling addictions. I mean, I know every other company, including Valve does it too, but I still feel somewhat betrayed by ANET with the addition of cash shop lotto boxes. But perhaps THE worst of all: Clipping issues on Sylvari and Charr.
Overall, there’s potential, and it does seem like things are heading in the right direction. But one wrong move, and it messes everything up.

Mortar exists to create constant Ice fields, and nothing more.
To be fair, if everyone took turns casting the Elixir Mortar shot, then you would have aoe heal 2k/second, but it’s probably more of a pain than it’s worth.
The worst part about Mortar, is the fact you need a minimum distance to cast it. I thought the sole purpose of it was to make Ice Fields and healing circles? So why do I have to be at a distance from my team?
OP is Winrar. He understands balance.
Now the question is, how do we make it more appealing in PvE and dungeons?
Heavy has pit fighter and gladiator armor sets. Also, norn cultural.
Have fun with your sexy, big-boys.
Someone try setting the clock to April 01 and see if it changes anything ingame.
Neither dream, nor’ nightmare, it called out to me with visions from the abyss. Blighted plains and blighted jungles. I stared into the darkness and something stared back. Something that calls upon my power. Our new master demands the blight of Tyria.
7/10
Dye reminds me too much of when graphics set to low.
How the heck did you reach level 30 in just a few hours?
8/10 Idea is cool, but maybe eyepatch could look better dyed something other than white.
Sonya Pantherheart, a ‘new’ kind of Ranger.
Lordy, lordy, lordy, lord, have pity on those who swap to MH axe in a boss fight. A 3s chill from Axe #3 is simply too pitiful to use, besides
Compare: Frost Trap, which = 13s chill on a 24s cooldown when traited with Trap Potency.
Just for clarification, 30 Skirmishing for Trap Potency is what is causing all the issues in this thread! :P
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
What’s stopping me from using chill: Trait points.
In order to achieve 13s of chill in one Utility on a short CD, I need to spec 30 in Skirmishing for Trap Potency. Because I have to manage Frost Spirit, Spotter, AND Beast Mastery, my options are incredibly tight.
So Frost Spirit is pretty staple, then?
What about the Chill condition as a whole? Wouldn’t causing bosses to attack and move 66% slower be a HUGE help to the team? For example, Mossman throws his axe less often, Lornarr (Ice fractal boss) uses his icicle attack less (the one where he warps), and Archdiviner wont be as big an kitten?
15% is too random and unreliable. I thought GW2 was skill-based?
What’s everyone’s opinions on running high-level FoTM (31-38) WITHOUT Frost Spirit?
Generally when I see people looking for Ranger, they’re usually looking for a Ranger with Spotter+Frost Spirit… But is Frost Spirit really worth it?
Frost Spirit, while traited, only activates 70% of the time. In other words, it only increases overall damage by an average of 7.5%, which isn’t all that big. Furthermore, it is incredibly frustrating to move around because in order to put it onto cooldown and “recast” it, I have to swap the utility and back… Which means I cannot use its active, or the team will have to wait 40s for Frost Spirit to be cast again. Not to mention the fact it can be destroyed… And the #1 reason why I’m so unsure about Frost Spirit, is because it forces us to invest in the Nature Magic line, when we could’ve invested into beast Mastery or Skirmishing and have more “oomph” to our damage.
Currently my build is 20/30/0/10/10. My utilities and weapon/pet choices are focused on stacking Chill on foes, largely thanks to the Skirmishing grandmaster trait, “Trap Potency” and the amazing capabilities of Frost Trap.
However, without 15 into Beast Mastery, my pet’s survivability takes a huge hit because I lack quick-swapping (Loud Whistle). Not only does the lack of Loud Whistle mean a higher likelyhood of my pet dying, but also means less spamming of their “special” skills (Like Tail Swipe on drakes for weakness+blast finisher, Harmonic Cry on moas for heal, etc…)
Would it make such a huge loss in efficiency to run 20/30/0/0/20 instead of 20/30/0/10/10? (In other words, no Frost Spirit?)
One advantage of 20 Beast Mastery over 10 Nature Magic, is the trait “Vigorous Training”, which grants all allies 5 seconds of Vigor whenever swapping pets. It also means more flexibility for overall pet potential, such as Mighty Swap and Rending Attacks when we need to DPS race, and Shout Master (reduced shout CD) for more Guard-spam and pet survivability during powerful boss attacks.
Would all that versatility not be more useful than Frost Spirit? Or am I underrating the 7.5% damage increase during stack fights?
Finally came up with a look for my female Charr without tail clipping OR floating shoulders!
It might not fit the Ranger theme, but it certainly turned out better than I expected.
After hopping on my female Charr ranger again, I can confidently say this is why we see few female charr:
1. The tail clipping (WAAAAY worse than male!)
2. Shoulders float
Anyways, I did come up with a cool Medium combination with a surprisingly pleasant lack of clipping OR floating shoulders!
Head: Aetherblade
Shoulders: Zodiac
Coat: Priory <—- this is the most important piece
Pants: Aetherblade
Boots: Zodiac

I recently maxed a Norn Necromancer, and I’m wondering how to gear him for FoTM? (levels 30-48)
As someone who also maxed and geared every other class, my Necromancer competes with the damage of my Warrior, the protection of Guardian, buffs of Ranger, and utility of Mesmer, Engineer and Thief. What can Necromancer do, that they can’t? I’m looking to make a build revolving around quick and frequent application of Chill, Weakness, and Vulnerability.
If nothing else, and what we can do better than others are Chill, Weakness, and Vulnerability, should I spec for a Berserker+Condition DURATION build?
Berserker armor+trinkets, GIVER weapons, and Rune of the Mad King?
I’m also a little worried because of the Feature Build updates, we will be shoehorned in a Healing build instead of pure damage. In that case, should I invest in Zealot instead of Berserker?
With features from the GW2 Chinese version coming over to the Western release (such as acc-bound dyes), one of the concerns is that they will also bring over the way the personal story works in the Chinese version.
In the Chinese version of GW2, you cannot start the Personal Story until level 10. Instead, you do the personal story in bursts every 10 levels.
Notice in the Feature update we have a section called “A Solid Foundation”? This would imply changes to the way players are introduced into the game. What does this mean, exactly? If like the Chinese version, then no personal story until level 10.

you talkin about that 30/30/30/30/30 build? or the one where you take out points from a useful tree and lose a huge, HUGE chunk of damage going 30 inventions?
30/0/0/30/10
Alternatively:
25/5/0/30/10
or
20/10/0/30/10
this could work too:
0/30/0/30/10
As long as we can unlock them with Faction/Glory… Oh wait…
Seriously? People are actually complaining about this?
Do you have any idea how useful this will be with Rifle Turret? Do I have to run FoTM 38 with you guys, just to show you how viable turrets can be in someone who uses them properly?
Let’s see, Rifle Turret gives us:
- low CD, high damage Toolbelt with 0 activation time
- blast finisher on 20s cd (which activates around your character’s location, NOT the turret)
- Great supplemented damage and vulnerability
And now it will also act as a 4s reflect wall too?
If you guys can’t appreciate a skill so versatile and powerful as the Rifle Turret, then you really shouldn’t be playing Engineer.
On the other hand, if you’re willing to learn, let’s run FoTM 38 together, and I’ll teach ya to use Turrets properly.
Ps. This trait should affect Healing Turret, which is already one of THE most powerful skills in the game. Currently Healing Turret can:
- Self-heal for 6k
- Heal allies for 3.5k
- Cure conditions on you and allies
- Act as blast finisher for higher cd
- Spawn water field
- Grant you and allies regeneration
And now it is a 4s reflect too. All on 14s cooldown.
You guys are seriously calling that bad? Seriously? SERIOUSLY? SERIOUSLY!?

Hey ANET,
As part of the mob of anxious Rangers fascinated with the Read the Wings change, any chance we could see some light to calm our herd?
- Your friendly neighborhood Ranger
Makes me fantasize what profession to role if when Tengu are playable.. I wonder what others would choose?
It would be nice to contact the guildie, or anyone else would be willing to post their advice ^
#TenguConfirmed
#CanthaReturns
Ahhh, joking aside.
Has anyone noticed a new TENGU miniature on the TP named Tsuru Whitewing?
Who is Tsuru Whitewing? I tried to wiki him, but no info.
Is it possible ANET is teasing future living world content with the Tengu?
One hint is they recently added The Tengu Wall (Tengu theme) to play in Maguuma Jungle-type zones… And guess where the new story is most likely to take place? The maguuma jungle!
Between the new unique Tengu mini and music, is it possible ANET is slowly building up for the playable Tengu race?
We can only hope.. it’d make a lot of sense.
Very excited. ANET finally gets it!

So we made the new trait system work like GW1 attributes system.
Cheers!
Well… Sanctum Sprint would be more fun if it had a track rotation. At the moment, it’s like Mario Kart, but with only 1 stage. It’d get old, and that’s why they leave.
CITIZENS! Uh-Huh! CITIZENS!
NO NO NO! We should go to the armory!
The Pact was made to kill dragons. That isn’t to say they aren’t involved by proxy, via the orders.
To be fair, they were involved, but with plausible deniability because it was the vigil, priory, and whispers working together.
lil too fem in the face, but I love the idea.
Too fem? What do you mean? I tried to base him off TP Link.
Anyways, I tried to choose my armor. How’s this?
