So basically, OP wants Kilroy Stonekin back.
Yes, bring him back!
PvEr here. Finished personal story, getting bored of Dry Top mob farming.
PLZZZZ I want a use for my Necromancer! Isn’t there ANY place in dungeons which we excel?
Sigil.
/12chars
For the sake of comparison, a Brown Bear has 45k health at level 80. I don’t think 150k health is that high, especially if it is designed to suck up damage from an entire mob, or boss.
Furthermore, it stays up only only temporary, so its health is irrelevant. The fact it can be destroyed early is what balances out its dual purpose effects.
Necromancer lacks support options for dungeons, right?
In the face of a meta where Guardians projectile blocking is king, I present a new and exciting option for Necromancers inspired by GW1: Bone Wall!
Bone Wall
Cast: 1s
Recharge: 40
HP: 150,000
Ground targeted line.
Minion. Summon an immobile Bone Wall foes cannot cross. This wall shattters after 14 seconds.
Shatter Wall
Cast: Instant
Destroy your Bone Wall and damage all foes near it.
Radius: 400
The logic: Projectile blocker and wall, both in one!
So how is this practical? There are many skills which cannot be reflected, or blocked, such as Mai Trin’s projectiles. However, this wall literally acts as a tank to soak up the damage for us.
Come on, if Zhaitan’s minions could conjure up hugeass Bone Structures, or Marjory could conjure up a baddass Bone Bridge, then let us make our own kitten Bone wall!
8/10 @ Storm Valkyrie. Looks like an order of Whispers Necromancer.
Here’s mine. I’m a godkitten space marine! (WTB Rifle or pistol)
I wont rest until we get a Llama simulator.
This game isn’t about healers. This game is about combat medics.
Instead of healing, you have aegis, projectile reflection, blind, protect, damage buffs, etc… all of which can be accomplished while providing just as much offense as any other player.
From working firsthand with a hobby sound designer, I could definitely appreciate all the hard work which goes into creation.
Things like spinning a flaming wheel to record the Elementalist’s sounds are just one of many lengths a sound designer goes through for his art.
My appreciation for the sound team is genuine, because my first legendary was Predator, and that is the one legendary defined by its sound. I would like to praise the entire sound team for their hard work. PEW! PEW! PEW!

Huh… How do you use Alpha as a tes tdummy? Someone mind explaining, please?
Come on, devs. You know we want Abaddon back, and you know we squee at any possible references to him.
Seriously, just because people voted for Kiel, doesn’t mean the community doesn’t want to see Abaddon again.
I want to believe this is a reference to Abaddon….
Think about it. Why would the Abaddon fractal be connected to the LS1 storyline? Why would they have an entire personal story mission dedicated to Abaddon? Now a sketch resembling the Realm of Torment?
Just let Mordemoth be some ultra-mists corrupting abomination who can corrupt the Realm of Torment too, and let us visit it for some reason to defeat him.
Plz, ANET. Y U tease us so?
Thanks all!
Minion Master seems a lot more useful than I thought for Mai Trin on level 49. Perhaps even the dreaded Bearbow has a use for once?
Hey, just a few Mai Trin questions about her mechanics. If anyone could help me out, please!
Mai Trin’s spiral bolts.
a) These cannot be reflected, but can they be destroyed by Swirling Winds or Mesmer Illusions?
b) Can the spiral bolts go THROUGH allies? Let’s say I am standing in front of someone, and she aims the spiral bolts at me. Will the bolt go THROUGH me and hit the chump behind me as well?
c) Similar to the above question, if I am standing behind a minion, will the minion simply soak up the spiral bolt, or will it go through?
Thanks!
How much damage SHOULD I be doing solo and in group?
I have tested both solo and group, with similar results to each other, both lower than what I see in videos.
I understand there are complications customizing the story for each decision in the personal story, but what about our biography choices? Things like our warband or dream to join the circus should really play a bigger role influencing the decisions our character makes.
For example, an Ash legion charr should take a more tactical approach, whereas a Blood legion should confront their foes head on.
A human character who’s lost his parents might sympathize more with a character in a certain situation, and focus on defending them during an invasion. However, someone wished to join the circus could be trying to keep a crowd calm and provide motivational support.
Or what about my human’s social status? A street rat might be able to woo Riot Alice into helping out, and provide tactics needed to infiltrate a bandit hideout, as opposed to blasting in with guns roaring like a Noble would do (ironic…)
This needn’t happen for every mission of course, but it would be nice if our biography decisions influenced at least a bit of it. I want to feel more characterization of the protagonist I worked so hard to create.

“[complaining about how the content is only a few hours long]”
And Metal Gear Solid 4 is only 3 hours long, and cost $60 at its release.
Season 2 chapter 1? Costs only $2 if you miss it. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, especially compared to Metal Gear Solid 4.
What exactly do you want from Season 2 anyways? An entire expansion campaign the size of freaking Nightfall!?
Yeesh, gamers these days are so spoiled… Try to think more of season 2 like a cake. If you rush it, you will find yourself only wanting more. And more. And more, and more.
But if you take your time, and enjoy what it has to offer, you will find yourself really satisfied with your meal.
Personally, I am impressed by season 2 so far because it gave us an entire new endgame map with cool farms, interesting mechanics, sweet achievements, and a new story and setting expanding the lore.
Seriously, if you can’t appreciate all the hard work ANET had put into this for just $2, then I think you wont be missed very much if you quit the game.

Hey, I’m running full Zerker set (full ascended trinkets, zerker exotic armor with ruby orbs, zerker weapons with sigil of forge+ruby orb).
My traits are:
6, V, X, XII
5, IV, VIII
3, III
Yet I still find I am doing low damage with dagger autoattack.
On an enemy with 18-20 Vulnerability and only 10 Might myself, I am only doing 4.2k damage on the third autoattack. Similarly, my Life Blast (Death Shroud) is dealing only 4.7k.
I’ve seen videos of people doing 8.9k damage with Life Blast, and 7k with dagger autoattack. Brazil himself dealt 12k damage on the third strike against creatures in Arah.
Foes I’ve tested against are the Salamander Drakes in Dry Top, Kinva the Butcher in HoTW p1, and various Event champions in Frostgorge Sound and Dry Top.
Just what am I doing wrong with Necro damage? Why is my damage so low?
FoTM 49 is now unplayable for me against Mai Trin, until the community devises a new strategy against her and adapts.
PLEASE REVERT MAI TRIN!
After you fixed Dredge, Fractals were finally in a good place! Not too frustrating, but still remained the most challenging and fun dungeon content in the game!
But now it is a frustrating joke. No one asked for this! So PLEASE revert Mai Trin!
I’m experiencing similar issues. The framerate in Dry Top is unusually low compared to other maps.
This is without the sandstorm.
I would be severely disappointed if this was not addressed. Guild Wars as a franchise was always known for its great graphics at low system requirements, and I would like to see that follow through with new maps like Dry Top.
Fighting her right now on FoTM 38 (pre-second patch)
She is INSANE! OHKOs, so much health, and holy crap, this is a bunch of dolyak kitten!
I think ANET added an extra 0 when they were programming in the new scaling…
You people rush your content too much. It’s like complaining that you beat a Sonic game in one day.
Wait a bit. It’ll be in gemstore in 2 weeks.
I will note, if you are still learning the game, Dogs are the best from a learning perspective.
Their stats are the most balanced, with high enough defense for them to stay alive, while dealing great damage.
Furthermore, dogs are also the best to teach you special abilities of pets, because their abilities are the most visually obvious. For example, the first skill a dog always uses in combat after being switched into, is is leap skill. This should help you understand the order pets use their skills, which is important for mastering their control.
Go with a Dog, Cat, or Drake.
Drakes have AoE, Cats have the highest single target damage, and Dogs have defense and support (Knockdown, Snares, some even heal!)
Stay away from Bears. They have awful damage and no support whatsoever.
Hi all,
I’m going for Eternity, and I can see my Sunrise in reach. Problem is, I transmuted my Twilight to another skin.
Will I still be able to fuse the GS into Eternity?
I’m a little skeptical about Aristocracy runes in a PvE condi build. What does it accomplish? It supposedly grants us might increased duration, but where is our source of might?
And any other rune/stat ideas?
Firstly, I want to make clear that as someone who has been running Zerker meta for almost 2 years, I’m finally willing to try out a new build.
Without abandoning any Zerker gear from my inventory, I’m thinking of buying the pieces for a condi set, and swapping between gear/weapons/accessories depending on the situation.
Problem is, HOW should I run Condi Set? More specifically, which stats and runes? (I’m looking towards dungeons in particular, but also WvW.)
Unfortunately, Necromancer isn’t exactly a master of conditions like we are hyped up to be… We have access to bleed, which builds only very slowly. We also have poison, but poison…..
Would it be a good idea to use condition runes to compensate?
Rune of Perplexity comes to mind as a good source of conditions, since Necromancers are capable of applying lots of fear (“interrupts”), which should be able to double our efficiency with terror condi dmg. (But does rune of perplexity with fear work against bosses which have defiant?)
However, Rune of Balthazar may have synergy with Dhuumfire due to its massively increased burn duration, and the ability to apply AoE burn when using a Signet which has massive synergy with Signet of Vampirism.
Also, which stats to use? Rune of the Undead’s ability (7% of Toughness converted to Condi Dmg) makes me think it might be useful with Rabid Armor?
Anyways, I’m open to ideas. What is the most efficient setup possible for a condi necro in PvE and WVW?
Theory: Ellen Kiel is Scarlet. The REAL Scarlet!
At least, that’s what people thought a year ago. I still believe Kiel is Scarlet, because Kiel is the anti-Christ!
Hey all,
I’m looking to join a guild which often plays high level fractals.
For FoTM, I main a Guardian with 70 AR. I mostly play levels 36 and 49, though I’m also up to level 50 and lower tiers.
I’m not too picky about class or speedruns, but I do wish to join a guild of likeminded, experienced dungeon players who run mostly “DPS”-gear. Of course, I am open to new strategies and ideas, and theory-crafting is part of the fun.
I’m not too picky about guild size either, and I will be available to 100% rep. Large or small, I just want to run some fun fractals with people!
Feel free to post here, inbox me on the forums, or PM me ingame.
Thanks,
Francois

I want an Open World PvE-dungeon, similar to Tower of Nightmares, with the concept expanded. (On that note, better rewards for clearing the whole thing…)
The first episode will take place in a destroy labyrinth cliffs. Isn’t it obvious?
I really want to mess with Necro more in endgame PvE. I’ve already mastered Guardian and Warrior, so now I am stubborn enough wanting my Necromancer to do stuff instead of being a mule.
Dagger/Dagger is awesome! (Condi transfer, high damage, and blind!)
Problem is, what else can we do? I really want to pull my weight.
I’ve been testing out chill, and it seems I can mantain perma-chill even on bosses with Rune of Ice. Is that a good idea? Useful?
I’ve always had the impression Necromancers were actually quite clean. Being servants of Grenth and death, they have a an utmost respect for the dead, and are responsible for funeral services in Tyrian society.
This is not too different to real life. For example, it is common in the Jewish culture for funeral services to cleanse a dead body before burying it.
See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ritual_washing_in_Judaism#Death
As for Necromancers in Tyria? Besides the social services they provide, it is true they can control the essence of death. This is how they create their minions, not the corpses themselves, but the energy of death itself! (Similar to how Soul Reaping works.)
But do keep in mind, they DO control the powers of death and decay! So for a Necromancer to be clean, it’s probably due to the fact they specialize in controlling it in the first place.
Think of it this way… the power to control death and decay is also the power to prevent it in the first place. Necromancers are there for very clean.
OP Asks: “Why does [PvE] Necromancer suck?”
Because every time someone suggests something which will fix Necromancers and give them a role in high End PvE and Fractals of the Mists, people shoot it down because apparently all our problems will be solved with more survivability and cleave????
Come on, let’s be realistic here… What is self-healing supposed to do to make Necromancers have an important role in FoTM and high end PvE?
Yes, Flamethrower autoattack still sucks.
However, #2 is pretty good damage. If you use Flamethrower, use it simply for its #2 skill, then swap back to bombs.
???
If a Necromancer shouldn’t deal more damage over time, then what should their niche be in High End PvE and Fractals?
I’d rather they integrate the Dervish into an existing class, with the addition of Scythes as a new weapon.
Hey ArenaNet, here’s some slightly feedback for the Bazaar:
I feel like it is very unrewarding to play there as a level 80.
I know, I know. People will roll their eyes when I say that… But hear me out:
Last year, the bazaar was level 80 instead.
This meant events gave much more experience and karma, and they were worth hunting for around the bazaar.
More importantly, it also meant that foes dropped level 80 loot, and t6 mats. This made it so players could farm the skales on land for Blood, and the Sharks underneath for Armored Scales. I personally spent many hours off the coast of the Bazaar, farming fish…
I was really disappointed to see our levels downscaled to 15 instead of 80…
If it is possible when the Bazaar returns again next year, you might bring the upscale back to level 80?
Thanks!
Cleaving wouldn’t make Necromancers any more useful against bosses. I don’t think that is the issue…
And is there anything wrong with getting more sales from those who buy online?
Cleave wouldn’t make us any better to have against bosses like Archdiviner, Mossman, or Bloomhunger…
Good point, Frank. I’ve removed Empowering Shroud from the first post.
I would like to hear what people think of the Corruption mechanic idea?
Frenk, the idea is that only after 40 seconds you have 16 stacks of might. However, it works only in combat, thus’ you cannot pre-prepare it. 16% more damage after 40 seconds doesn’t seem too overpowered in my opinion, considering most fights are over by then.
But let’s use our common sense here. What’s important isn’t the individual numbers, but the concepts. If Necromancer shouldn’t deal more damage over time in a boss fight, what SHOULD they do?
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
They said Necromancers get stronger as the fight goes on. As much as I love the concept, that is a lie regarding how they actually play ingame PvE.
If such a thing were true, Necromancers should be the top damage class in longer boss fights, with powerful sustain.
Kittens make cussing cute. Got a problem? kitten?
