Found your problem right here.
Nothing auto attacks better than a warrior in melee range anyway.
You’re dead after 4-5 autoattack on a warrior. Healing signet is not strong enough this time.
Too slow!
The problem is, most warriors standing in melee range auto attacking do not know how active healing works.

You seem to have missed, that my answer was an ironic approach to the so called “difficulty” of playing in melee range in regards of this post:
I like ranged combat, it allows me to play and sip a c’ocktail at the same time. It also requires coordination to sync drinking and pressing dodge key every minute.
Actually I noticed that was ironic, but your answer suggested melee is a total faceroll and it’s better to afk in the back. Haviz is right, I could easily cook a dinner during Knight fight if it wouldn’t pull and lose target every minute. Knights and holograms are a huge waste of time, even bigger because of ranged. Only difficulty of this event is to stay awake, and I have to admit it IS hard.
Welcome to all group content in GW2.

I like melee combat, I just press auto attack once and if anything happens, I just wait to get an insta rezz for the rare case that I get down.
You seem to forget all aoe buffs, healing, condi clean, fields and blasts. Let us know when you’ll get all of these (or at least insta rezz) staying at 1200.

Still those zones have the stench of old on them, especially for those of us, that have completed the maps.
So you punish those who actually played the game by sending them back to what they have already seen. There is no feel of progression.
This is boring.
Speak for yourself. I have no problem going over an area I’ve already been through because I’m always finding something I never noticed before.
The problem is you, not the game.
Problem solved.

The thing is: they are right.
Every zone is crafted with devotion, you can see that in many ways. It’s a shame when people rush through them without even knowing, where they were.
And we still play GW2 – level doesn’t matter that much.

All I say is, as soon as people would have to adapt to a mechanic that requires to move out of a red cycle close to a boss, ends in people complaining.
God forbid, that standing in melee range would cause people to still take care of some calls every now and then…

Wasn’t scaling of mobs/bosses to the number of people present supposed to be one of GW2’s big features? So much for that.
You mean like those event chains that alter the world depending on how the DE progresses?
Yeah, all that stuff…
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
You mean that ANet tries to break the melee zerker meta for PvE in this game?
Too late, people got way to used to stack melee and burn the boss down no matter what. Requiring zero skill or coordination.
Can’t wait to play some real group content with at least a soft trinity, where group content was made for a group, not for a bunch of people that accidentally came together.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
The problem:
After the bug fest and disappointment of the LS, I for one am not willing to spend any money for an expansion of this game. So many bugs have been here since before release.
As a result, they would split up the community into different zones, a thing that ANet tried to avoid like hell (for obvious reasons) and that would be very counter productive. Additionally, they do not want empty zones in early gameplay, new players will just see barren playfields and get frustrated.
We get one new zone for Mordi, and the new LS will just keep pushing us in mid level zones again. It is ANets disappointment that people rushed through the zones early and ignoring all the effort put in the zones, that is the reason for them to send us back with the message:
“You better take a second look at what we created! We spend sooo much time on it, and you barely spend some hours in it. Shame on you!”

They should have merged most servers anyway by now.
Got a feeling they want to grab more profit from selling gems for transfers though, so they can make a win out of the loss of all those players.
Anyway, this is just a bulletproof way to kitten their costumer off.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
To be honest, there is very little content for people who have been around since the start anyway.
Too little permanent content was added, and the LS is just a buggy zerg fest, which can harldy entertain anyone with some sort of expectation and who got used to standard updates in other MMOs.
Ah well, a fair share of people I know have left GW2 for those reasons, and more will. There are just way more entertaining ways to spend your time online than this.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Unfortunately, there is no hope that the TP would ever close down in GW2.
The game is way too grindy in matters of the amount of items you need. Some are sort of impossible to farm on yourself. Resources are the grindiest thing ever here.
So the TP is going to stay, otherwise noone will be able to finish a legendary ever. And if you want some of the nicer stuff in GW2, playing the game will be the wrong approach in the future like it is now.
All hail the TP…
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Games nowadays try to get away from trading posts and action houses, as they make people stop playing the game and start playing a market simulation.
Blizzard learnt it the hard way with their auction house in D3, it will close down this month.
ESO won’t have auction houses, there will be small guild stores but that’s it.
I for one welcome this change, it will reward the players that play the game, instead of the people who manipulate the economy. We have enough of this in RL…

(edited by Kaiyanwan.8521)
I think it’s important to step back and gain a little perspective here.
ArenaNet is attempting something completely new to MMO’s by implementing multifaceted content to be released every two weeks by individual teams who are given an average of one month from start to finish to create. This is incredibly ambitious even for a large AAA game company.
I’ve been studying game design with the hopes of someday making it into the industry and even with my limited knowledge of how these projects come together it never ceases to amaze me that they can produce this amount of work in such a short amount of time, bugs or not.
Keep in mind with each new content release all departments have 20 working days from start to finish. The departments being; Concept Design, Level Design, Writers, Sound Design / VO, 3D modeling/Texture Design, Environmental Lighting & Design, Scripting/Code programmers, UI/UX Department, QA Testing, Balance Department, and I’m sure more I’m forgetting. A small team organizing all these departments to release this amount of original content with this many moving parts in 20 days (even if 20% needs bug fixes and fine tuning for the first few days after release) should be appreciated.
I’m not saying there haven’t been naive missteps along the way or that these won’t continue, but these are to be expected when pioneering such a high risk / high reward philosophy to adding new content to an MMO. This ‘Living World’ approach being such a unique development style ArenaNet is learning and fine tuning all elements of this workflow while simultaneously supporting content that is already live.
Also to be kept in mind the entire staff of ArenaNet are far more motivated to please their customer base and to make this game the best it can be than anyone simply playing the game or posting on the forums. It’s not only their labor of love but their livelihood which motivates them to work as hard as they do at this impressive pace.
So you give an excuse for ANets faulty decision to set a development cycle shorter than they need to produce quality content?
They should have realized after some of their LS releases that they just fail in producing quality content in time. The only reasonable thing would have been to lengthen the cycles.
But no, people defend crappy, buggy content because of a stupid decision made 15 monthes ago. Where is the logic behind that?
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
But like I said the main problem is the “me” mentality in MMOs these days, when it used to be a “we” mentality.
Sure A.Net said a lot times “play how you want” but I am pretty sure they meant “play however you want, but try to be reasonable” and not “well yeah just don’t try at all, just press autoattack everything will be fine other people will piggyback you through this”
A “me” mentality has also never been as corrosive as it can be in Guild Wars 2, because in Guild Wars 2 a lot of things don’t work in PvE. Conditions…toughness…Dodge or Die gameplay will be the downfall of the game if it’s not restructured significantly.
They can’t restructure it because the gameplay itself has no structure. No tank no boss control no nothing.
So all zerg events are all just massive AoE spamming hp sponge bosses that end in a dps check. There is no group skill involved, only personal skill.
Noone has to take care of others or anything at all but the boss calls. That is just shallow gameplay, no teamplay needed.

So how do we all rate the end of LS season 1
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Kaiyanwan.8521
I see the first season of the Living World as experimental.
Do you want to see changes in Guild Wars 2? Give Arena Net a proper, well constructived feedback.
Firstly, experimental content is for indie games. This is a NCsoft game, they want to minimize risk, so ANet better stops fooling around.
Secondly, I have seen tons of good feedback since and even before release, that has been ignored. Not playing the game anymore at all seems to be the only language ANet understands…
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
As long as ANet has to fix their bugged content several times a day, you will have to patch the game.
It is normally not as bad as with this update, but who knows, what we will have in the future.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Just curious, how many bugs have there been with Cash Shop items?
Wow, talk about a thread filled with massive entitled whiners. You guys have no idea how hard it is to program a game, let alone an MMO.
This is the lamest of all excuses on the planet. Along with “Meh, Meh, why don’t you make your own mmo?”
That’s like taking a car back to the manufacturers because the brakes don’t work and being told “Don’t you know how hard it is to make brakes work? Go make your own brakes!”
Because apparently Anet is responsible for creating life saving equipment. NOT.
GW2 is a game, get over it and stop being so melodramatic.
Many already got over it, and more will. I for one am not entirely sure how players leaving will help this game though…
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Oh the irony.
People here are bashing ESO, but the truth is, the only hope for a better WvW lies in ESOs AvA.
If ANet fails to adapt to the far superior new competitor in matters of WvW, they will also fail in keeping any WvW guilds interested.
It’s a chance for ANet to improve their game.

Seriously ? Liberator of Lion's Arch chest
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Kaiyanwan.8521
Personally, i thing reward is good. Just imagine that reward will be for example 100g: Player A who is new to LS will complete his first meta, get liberator od Lion’s arch chest, and 100g from it. He will be happy. Now imagine player B, who is experienced and completed every LS meta, but from some reason he can’t patricipate in battle for Lion’s arch so he will not get 100g, but player A yes. Isn’t it unfair? I hope there will be some “final” chest, that rewards player with reward based on how many meta achievments he did. So player A will recieve small reward for BfLA meta, when player B recieve big one. This is fair.
It’s the bloody final of the living story, 14 monthes of missed chances and wasted opportunities. God forbid people true to the game would get something nice.
Other games reward their customers for playing. What an absurd strategy…
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
They will be nerfed the day, the LS moves on and they get patched out of the game.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
And the cash shop barely influences my gameplay at all. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I spent money on that crap. The game is fine without it.

The final video shows the wrath of the community that is awoken by the buggiest patch ever that has been promoted as the best thing ever.
It is a self-ironic metaphor from ANet.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Well, I cannot say if this game is losing too many players or too few.
The only thing I can say is, that in the last 1 1/2 years, this game has degenerated from the hope for the whole MMO genre to a generic asian grinder with a cash shop and crappy updates.
Do you blame the players for not logging in for this?
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Yeah, it is pretty much a total fiasco.
The only thing epic in this final of the LS is the sheer amount of bugs.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Take a lesson from ESO? lol
I have read stuff like this on so many other MMO boards about so many other new games.
And than those game had barely any players left or shut down.
ESO will drain its fair share of players from GW2 and so will all other releases. And in the current state of GW2, people won’t come back but jump from new release to new release.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
I am out, it is late.
To the OP: Feel free to log into GW2, but let all hope behind, otherwise you will only get disappointed.
Protip: Next weekend will be a final beta test for ESO (vs. 0.181), if you never tried it, you may want to get one of the many beta keys everywhere and give it a go. It might not be the game you are looking for, but I found it fairly entertaining.

What you have listed as permanent content is:
Fluff
Quality of life changesAnd content that will keep people entertained for a few hours/days (Southsun was added before the LS and will entertain you less than a day, and the new WvW map for a couple of days if you like WvW, and the two super raids will entertain you not at all, because they are deserted on most servers anyway).
Wow, what a great list for 1 1/2 years since release. This will surely convince the OP to return to the game and love it.
Edit: Let me fix this, noone is entertained by this for two weeks ever.
How is boss tools, cs etc.. Fluff? Story is more fluff then real content changes like that. If you want a hardcore game that takes you 24hr+ to do something GW2 not for you and GW2 was not made to ever be like that. Even the new fight pushing it taking some where near 2hr to do for one big boss fight. Most players do not spend that much time in one sitting and in-fact its unhealthy to play longer or at least sit there for 1hr with out moving a bit.
South Sun was used for more then the LS if you do GM at all its some of the hardest in the game. There also a major wold boss fight that requests meta events.
I did leave out some things because i am not going to sit there and read to every thing that was put out in a year and 1/2 you can do that on your own time.
Ppl are that the thing because they do not play all day like some ppl (i am one of though that plays all day atm). Most gamers have other things to do namely games to play or they have jobs school family etc.. GW2 is made to be put down and not made to fores you into needing to play all the time.
I want to see the business plan of ANet that supports your claims…
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
The LS is nothing more then a facade.
Nothing note-worthy has changed in this game in over a year.
The only thing that changes is a temporary AP grind every 2 weeks, some mini games and a wack-a-mole dps zerg.
They added in new tools for CS new tools for boss fights 2 new zones one being EoTM with comply new wvw effects and South Sun Cove that has new boss fights effects and mobs types. They added in new ways to read story lines and books they added in new ways to see models they added in major team fights that take up full zones. They added in a story that bridges person story to may be the next chapter of the person story or to a new set of zones etc.. Lots of new skins lots of new ways to get skins.
Every time they add in a LS there is a new tool used a new trick that the mob can do the CS become better things over all keep getting better. They added in other things then just the LS such as aoe loot account wallies new ways to get items. If your playing the LS like zerg events then you will play them like zerg events that what GW2 is play it the way you want to you do not need to zerg things in fact that last few LS update have been anty zerg they even went as far as to changes an major effect in the last LS to make it less zergly. It works out that ppl play or call things zerg when they just tag and run and leech events. They are playing the game as effect as they can and in doing so becoming bored but that more the players chose then Anets.

No other game is following the self-destructive behaviour of GW2, and no other game will do so in the future.
Clever DEVs work with layers like WoW started with WotLK, or we see in ESO quite frequently. The world looks different, but the content is still there for everyone.
Tell me one other MMO that frequently deleted parts of its content. Some games do an overhaul after some years to adapt the playfield to new features, but no other MMO does constantly destroy the effort they put into their own game.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
@Jski
Look, the point of a monthly fee is, you don’t have to pay it if you do not want to play.
But if you want to play and pay for it, you get all the content (besides some minor seasonal events) as standard. In GW2, if you miss some content, no money in the world will help you to experience it anymore. Why would anyone pay a sub for a game like this?
The game is punishing you for not playing, that is why the LS feels more like a chore than a feature.
That the problem though you are playing for a month of x or y not for the time of play. If i say pay for this month i feel i need to play it all the time or i will not get my money worth. You can chose not to pay it but for a full month you cant know comply what going on in game or get that person feel for if you like it or not. If P2P was more like a chose where you could pay for time or just pay for a month i think you have a point but its not like that. I understand in some whats paying for time would be worst then playing for a month a lot of players would not like this but it would be a good chose for ppl who do not play all the time.
The content of GW2 is not a product of being B2P its more about GW2 being more of a persistent world. Meaning that things happen with out you being on as in your not the center of the universe. Its more about making the game or an mmorpg real like its a real world not just an event that happens over and over that the aim of the LS.
Look at real life you will miss a lot of things and thing that will never happen agen but what makes though things important because they may only happen one time in your life time if they happens every day then they would not be as important. Human put vale of rarity of items and events there rarer it is the more important.
To put it simply real life punish you for not living it why should a game that trying to use persistent world not do the same and at least in GW2 you can still see the story and in time even fight the bosses (fractals). You may miss skins but that makes some of the skins more important.
If I want RL, I have enough of that every day.
If I want to play a game, I want content and fun, not being told that this game works like RL. I do not play a game to mimic RL, I do it to get a break from it.
I do not want to come back from a 4 week vacation, logging in a game and being told, that I missed stuff. If I want RL problems, I stay there.
The LS was set up on a bi-weekly schedule to pressure people to log in, so they could be selling temporary stuff in the gem store. It was no decision about story, about quality or about playability. Just greed.
It doesn’t work, the current LS is a buggy mess beyond what I have seen as a release in any AAA MMO in the last few years. If that is the great thing about this game, not even the dragons can save Tyria.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
I have to say that next to southsun, this is the absolutely worst update they have ever done.
At least at southsun, we got some nice backpiece for achievements (LS) and exotic loot + exotic trinket +20 slot bag for being there at the opening event.
Back in the days we were at least rewarded for being part of the bug fest…
That’s the wrong mindset for this thread. This thread is about content quality, not loot quality. Well implemented content with no rewards should be preferable to poorly implemented content with good rewards by everyone.
I just prefer poorly implemented content with good rewards to poorly implemented content with bad rewards.

Games like these come in two forms: Television and Movie. TV episodes are released more often and you get more, especially considering you don’t pay for it; Movies come out much less often and but they are usually higher quality and they aren’t free. I enjoy both and I actually appreciate the effort Anet puts into all the additional content they are constantly releasing. I also played the first game since the beginning and saw how far they came over its lifespan and I expect the same from this game.
Wait, you tell us, that if we want blockbusters, we have to find some other games, or we should settle with mediocrity every two weeks.
OK, than this game is not for me.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
The LS was the worst thing that could happen to GW2.
By now we could have had about 4 to 5 big content releases and probably a real expansion.
All that was sacrificed for temporary bug fests.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
The only competition ANet had since release was the horrible fiasco of FF14.
Look at this years release schedule. People here might hate ESO and wildstar and whatever, but there are so many promising titels coming (Destiny, RoS making D3 the game many hoped for, great multi-player releases every month).
They better come up with something good fast, or their gem shop will be as frequented as a virgins bedroom.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Well, I see this as the most polished content, ANet can produce. So this, or worse, is what we are to expect as content in the future.
Why would I be looking forward to any update again?

My argument is valid because i have proof of what the dev. said and you do not because its imposable to go off info that is simply made up. Tell me where did the Dev. say for sure that they will add in stronger gear and not the “well they said they will not not do something so that must mean they will” BS because that IS pointless speculation only to create fear.
I can show you where they said, BiS items will be easily available even for casuals, because they want everyone on the same powerbase.

I’ve been playing WoW again. I find it far less grindy. I’m currently doing battlegrounds working on a PvP set. The grind will be over shortly…unlike the grind in GW2.
Till the next set comes out for WoW lol WoW is pure grind and treadmill do not fool your self. Your not going to see a new vertical progression in GW2 for some time or simply not at all.
Didn’t they announce legendary trinkets already sort of?
I think that more for looks such as legendary weapons are the same as ascended legendary trinkets will be the same as ascended trinkets.
You “think”?
People thought ascended gear would be the same as exotic with just better looks.
You do not know how the vertical progression will go on, so don’t argue with your made up idea that there will not be any vertical progression any more. That is just useless.
