I’ve been playing WoW again. I find it far less grindy. I’m currently doing battlegrounds working on a PvP set. The grind will be over shortly…unlike the grind in GW2.
Till the next set comes out for WoW lol WoW is pure grind and treadmill do not fool your self. Your not going to see a new vertical progression in GW2 for some time or simply not at all.
Didn’t they announce legendary trinkets already sort of?

ANet does not make not grindy games or updates.
Rule 1 of a grindy game: Make things people want as rare as possible (knight cores). They weren’t rare enough at the beginning, ANet fixed that by practically patching them out. Now they are back in, just rarer than before.
See, ANet is just true to themselves, keeping the grind going and going and goin…
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
The whole argument that you do not need the best gear is so insanely ridiculous.
It is the argument of an elite, that actually should not exist in GW2 as it was promoted as equal powerbase for everyone.
In vanilla WoW we had the same: You don’t need the epic gear unless you raid (and the raiders steamrolled PvP with the uber gear). Ask WvW people what they think about your argument…
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
grind? in gw2? charge 2000 gems, exchange them for gold, buy ascended gear and forget about grind.
or just spend ~50 gold (1 week max.) for exotic. pff. grind.
Sounds like P2W, but that is not the whole truth.
You need to farm account bound stuff, have time gated crafting and all that stuff. The whole crafting ascended gear thing is the biggest timesink for mediocre reward I have ever seen in a MMO.
To OP: If you didn’t like the game too much in the past, than you won’t like it now.
It is essentially the same game, with the same content as most of the new content gets removed after 2 weeks, and with tons and tons more grind. If you do not like mindless farming/grinding, you will have a hard time to enjoy the game in its current state…
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
I’ve gotten my $50 worth of game play. Now the beta testing aspect has gotten to me and I’m looking at some other games.
True, GW2 has passed its best before date long ago, but lately it seems that it became inedible.

Loot from knights after the 6/3 patch
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Kaiyanwan.8521
Whats worse is that even if all three are killed, players only get the loot for one. Its just barely better than no loot. I’d prefer it to go back to the way it was with loot from each one. How the kitten are we supposed to amass power cores now?
Got a feeling, tha ANet got the impression that working loot for the knights would give out too many cores, which equals being less of a grind.
ANet hates things that are not grindy, what would you expect them to do.

It’s crucially important that this significant part of the living story is fixed by the weekend. Most players play during the weekend.
Nah it’s too late anyways.
Hyping the big final of the LS being the most awesome thing ever and giving us this bug fest? That is what ANet thinks is the best they can do for a final release? Seriously, who would expect any quality content after seeing this in the future.
On the forth day, things just get fixed to be worse? They could just let this whole thing be the way it is. It is how the whole LS has been and it is foreboding the future of more LS seasons.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
An average LS event lasts 14 days.
It is the 4th day, that the knights are buggy.
On the first day, the whole event was buggy. So 13 days to finish the event, 3 of them it is already buggy. 10 days left to get it fixed, for having at least some chance where it works as intended.
It is program code. Maybe ANet should hire some more people who actually know how it works…
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
So you say, it is OK, that the content is bugged, and you do not understand that I would like to have the content fixed before they release it?
Other games release tons of stuff ever few monthes. They fix it over time. I can play it when it is fixed.
This game releases tiny chunks of content. They hardly fix it. The content will be gone and I can not play it anymore.
See, that is the difference.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
They could not confirm that something is wrong with the new Tequatl, because they had another raid (3 worms) in the pipeline.
Now we have two super raids, noone cares for. Can’t wait to have some more of those.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
What was frustrating about this latest living story update? Why do people keep making new threads about small stuff? Spend your time playing the game instead of whining on the forums about little nothings. If you expect any new content to be totally bug free, you are not a very smart person.
The problem is, that we get new buggy content ever two weeks. It is like buggy content gets replaced with buggy content. Instead of fixing content, we just get more of the same crap all the time.

Got 14/14. No more need to log in for no loot anyways.
It would be worth to get the cores, but I neither get them nor bags. Why should I play this buggy content
dont worry core prices are dropping FAST.
Well, if they are dropping now and dropping good, I will just buy the ones I need later…

The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Every zerg event in GW2 nowadays comes down to be a battle vs a timer, which means that it is a DPS race.
It is ANet last staw to make the zerg events sort of challenging. It also kills any variety in matters of builds.
Milk was a bad choice.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
(edited by Kaiyanwan.8521)
3rd problem: People would rush through the little content we get even faster (because all secrets and stategies would be known). More bored players.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
(edited by Kaiyanwan.8521)
They fear, that if people know what comes next, it will have an earlier influx on the market.
People would play the auction house even more, unbalancing the unbalanced economy to new hights…
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Other games have buggy content, you skip it, you come back when it is fixed, whenever you want.
This game has buggy content, but if you skip it, it will be gone and you have missed it.
There is the difference. If you want to see what the game has to offer, you have to play buggy content. You are forced to go through all the mess, just to see what the DEV’s are creating, just to see the story, before it is gone again.
That is why bug fixing for temporary content has to be number one priority before releasing the content, that is why the LS does not work, that is why I always come back to this point – first things first.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Look, GW2 is one and a half years old.
Returning players, that have stopped playing the game see the following:
Not much new content.
The new content is buggy as hell.
Tons of new grinds that will take them monthes to get back to BiS.
A story they have missed and no idea what’s going on.
Sounds inviting to me.
Now, if people play some other games, only for a month or two, they will already feel like this when they return.
Where will this end?
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
We are not really beta testers, as as soon as the content gets sort of fixed, it gets deleted.
Sounds more like we are hamsters.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Other games have a PTS and get some feedback early on.
On the other hand, in GW2 you get a new bug fest every two weeks, that gets deleted from the game as soon as they get their stuff sort of fixed.
So everyone rushes to see the content, everyone get’s the bugs smashed in their faces, and get annoyed. This LS is pressuring players to play the content that is not polished at all.
That will just cause burn out and people flocking to other games.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
It can work, with some reworking and refocus on actually expanding on the game and/or altering things so it actually has impact.
Which, notably, the last third of this ‘season’ did.
This is a really good point in my opinion. LS has a lot of potential. It is something new. Learning how to use any tool (and LS is a storytelling tool) well takes some practice. Some trial and error. This is an area where I think Anet gets too much flack. They should be allowed the time to either make it work, or to decide that they cannot make it work and to switch gears to something else.
That’s not how the industry works. Players are not willing to see crappy content as active beta testers for something that maybe won’t work.
They should have had a bloody business plan before they released an long running MMO. The LS was an afterthought, badly executed and rushed.
Look at our current incarnation of the LS, the great final. There are more bugs than the story has lines to tell. A bulletproof way to get rid of some customers.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Permanent content. That should do the trick. Successful other MMOs added it, and people liked it.
Have you ever seen someone complain about more (good) permanent content?
Compare it to the amount of complaining about the temporary content. There you got your answer.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Some new horrendous grinds for vertical progression, more zerg, more buggy content with very little story.
I think this sums it up pretty well.

Remember that GW2 is designed so that skill > gear and they don’t want people in unobtainable gear.
Sometimes I think GW2 is simply designed to suck.

It is not the fault of the people being AFK, it is the fault of bad game design by ANet.
Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

The Leveling & Open World Compendium
It doesn’t matter. They have changed fractals and how they work, added stuff past 30 and added new fractals.
30 is as arbitrary as 40 or 50. They changed the difficulty curve. Level numbers have lost their meaning.
Could they have gone with 50? Sure. They have decided to apply changes though and they decided on 30. Nothing wrong with that.
It is a different scale now. They decided that it should be the same for all players, new and old. Sounds fair to me.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
(edited by Moderator)
ANet tolerated it as long as they had no way to solve the problem itself.
If something gets tolerated it does not mean that it is not an exploit. They had the choice to close down fractals all together till they could fix it, or set a hard reset when they got a fix.
They went for the latter. I think that was fair for both sides.

She’d have used her 4 skill to get up while talking. It was for the best :p
So what, now she will just respawn at some waypoint of her choice.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Oh cmon srsly… Just did another full dungeon and we kill the hologram…. AGAIN
No power cores… only crap loot isnt even worth doing this…
It feels atm as if we need to get only 1 power core to upgrade the back piece beacause its as rare as getting 10 gold from lvl 1 mob.. which is impossible same as getting even a single power core… been farming for 15 hours, not even sure if it was worth buying the game when 2 days ago people could easily get 10 of those and now 1 in 2 weeks probably…
Hey, it wouldn’t be GW2 if it had no insane grind for something new.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
My point is that the Fractured patch showed one thing: Anet does not care.
They did, they fixed the content for you. They updated it and gave you new toys to play with.
With the reset (I’d call it a rollback because of MMO rule #2: Exploit early exploit often), they leveled the playfield for everyone. This sounds like caring to me.
They would REWARD exploiting if they gave something for everyone.
Don’t blame ANet (wow, that’s hard for me to say) blame the people who exploited the system.

Braham is a shame for all beings with a brain.
Stupid kid should have learnt to shut up when adults are around. He makes all Norns look bad. At least I cannot blame his mother, she is cool, but I would like to have a word with his father. No wonder she didn’t want to take care of him.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
The whole system was more or less abused to get to higher levels anyway.
People want to be rewarded for that? You have made it, you got the loot (even though loot in this game fails) and the memories. Good enough I say.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
I got 3 cores all together now. Those knights must be solar powered somehow.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Tequatl was redone and became a deserted event my server. Way to go ANet, we need more content that is rarely done on full servers and never on the others.
Can’t wait for more!

ZERG, zerg everything. ANets mantra is:
ZERG!
This update:
We heard you like zergs, so we put a zerg into your zerg (3 bosses and than hologram).
Hail the ZERG, all day every day. It is hard to find an update without the ZERG actually.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Quests like in the Personal Story? Yeah, I miss them. Being actually part of the story itself had a nice touch.
All we get nowadays is a random solo instance in the LS every now and than, that feels generic like the whole LS itself.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
All new characters are as shallow as a kids pool.
Trahearne was a character that had a backstory, and, if you played Sylvari, he has been around from the beginning to the end of Zhaitan.
You got the feeling to know him, and even though, knowing him meant hating him, he had character built up.All new characters are just placeholders for stereotypes. Boring as kitten.
I play Sylvari- I have 5 at the moment and the only reason I don’t have more is because I have not bought more character slots.
I have always really really liked Trahearne.
I have a lot of respect for him and he has been a constant in the lives of my characters, I miss him.
I really feel like, while I like to make new friends, I miss my oldest and most constant companion
I sort of hate him, even though I could get along with him a bit better after leveling a Sylvari.
But if I have to compare him to what we got in the LS, than I have to say that he is the best friend we got all together.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
That’s why they put different signs in there.
So that the color blind people can fail to enjoy this event as much as the others…

We do not. Well we know because we see the cinematic, but my character in game and all NPCs do not yet have any clue what’s going on.

All this game is, is a crafting simulator.
Gather tons of stuff, craft.
Story fails, balance fails, bugfixing fails.
The only longterm goal in this game is to farm your back off and craft. That’s it. You better play the game what it is for, and do not complain about the only bit of content it has…
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
The whole plot made no sense anyway. Now we got a dragon noone cared before he was artificially put in the game (lore wut).
Yay, I for one would have prefered some more lore relevant stuff but hey, ANet stopped caring about the lore the day they introduced the LS…

Mordremoth.
I just have to wonder how Colin thought this was a “one in a million” prediction.
As resident Colin, I said this back when the world thought it was Primordus or a time travel story line, as more clues came out the theories got MUCH more correct, by mid-february the correct theories were certainly far more plentiful. Also the one in 10-20K number was about the entire story in the final 2 releases, not just one specific part of the ending. Only a couple of folks correctly guessed LA getting nuked before we gave any of the hints for example.
Above all else, I just want to say how much fun it has been watching everyone theorize over the last few months. It’s one of the coolest parts of the living world experience to me. Where it goes from here….well you’ll just have to wait to find out!
Nope I’m out. I won’t wait and see. I waited and saw this abomination of a story.
I am not masochist enough to go through another LS season with all the flaws, bugs, zerg and abysmal stoytelling.
