I’ve yet to see a thief who made a guardian come back to thief. It’s really: “once you go guardian, you never go back”
I was leveling up a guardian to maybe bind Bolt to it (I mained S/D thief), then omnom ghost got nerfed so sword/torch was even less viable. Bound Bolt to my thief last week. Boy do I regret it. That 4s revealed killed the fluid flow of combat rotation and can’t even attempt to daze lock.
It’s a big swing into effective revealed time we have to adapt now. Culling had to be fixed, but it’s 2-3+1 sec we’re fully visible now, which means they got ample time to dodge as we try to CnD.
Revealed 3s =>4s, so cof p1 specced d/d thief’s dps is lowered since we can’t backstab as fast, while on other side warriors’ banners get almost doubled in efficiency.
Feels like there’s no more point to bring a thief, bring another banner/war instead :-s
ps: thank god I got my Bolt crafted last week. I bet ppl now will be even more thiefophobic for p1 farmin
hmm I’m at a loss here. I liked going with my thief to farm cof p1 instead of my warrior (you know mesm signet of inspiration etc…), but now with dps nerf to d/d in there, I’m out of arguments. I mean bringing warrior instead now especially with the banner love they got

When I saw the thread title I thought it was a bout p/p #3 and sb #3. You know when you end up dodging off cliffs/platforms in fractals thinking you’re about to unload like a gunslinger x-D
3 weeks ago I leveled up my 2nd thief from 1 to 80. Didn’t buy a single weapon or armor piece off TP. If you do buy, just buy the blue/green grade items, and like every 10lvls or 20lvls. If you go for map completions, you’ll be 80 before you finish all the 40-50lvl maps ^^
Anywho:
1) use dagger/dagger + shortbow.
2) Use caltrops with Signet of Malice. Each second anyone stands in your caltrops it applies one bleed and triggers signet of malice, making that skill your personal medic.
3) with your initiative use leaping deathblossom #3. Normal mobs will die by time they get 15bleeds. Veterans will fall down quite fast with 25 bleeds.
4) I’d even suggest you go get the 20% cd reduction to Tricks (Caltrops = trick skill) so you lower its downtime since it lasts pretty long already.
5) Use Ambush Trap. Low cooldown + great dps boost to you. That thief summon lasts 20sec and deals good dmg and tends to tank for you, plus they either interrupt on opening fight by using Scorpion Wire if they’re the melee type. If it’s the pistol pistol thief type, they open up with blackpowder so you can combo off blindness even more.
6) is just Signet of Shadows for faster mobility/kiting.
7) Thieves guild to take out any veterans/skill point challenges.
8) Trickery line is great for this, you get cond dmg, and +3max initiative pool and gain initiative on steal so you get more uses of Deathblossoms. Also get pts into the critical line so you gain 1 initiative on crits.
With this you can pull as much as you want. Have fun.

omnom ghost nerf completely nerfs p/p unloads, s/p PW tanking and CB detonate melee builds. That’s what allowed us to heal up/stay in fight. Less procs/less dmg/heals, we gonna need to withdraw more throughout fights, yay…
Can you please elaborate what you mean when you say p/p builds pigeon hole you into p/p only? As far as I know, there are only three pistol only traits… one is a no-brainer (10% dmg) every weapon set on every class has some sort of variation of such a specialization trait, and you’d be crazy not to use that… the other two traits (ankle shots and ricochet) are completely useless… I have no idea why anyone would actually use those… so in the end you have a grand total of ONE trait that’s exclusive to a pistol build (that includes p/d as well btw)… so honestly I’m really having a hard time following what you mean here… are there some more pistol traits that I’m unaware of??!
dual wield skills deal 5% more dmg
dual wield skills have % more critical chance
those are the #2 and #3 p/p traits. Since only pistol whip or unload would benefit from it. (feigned strike and death blossom having different roles)
Just to clear things up on what did indeed get ninja nerfed since January 10 update:
The dark forest path leading to Svanir boss cave with the 3 roaming patrols of Veteran Svanir and Veteran wolves no longer will drop anything. No party member will see any glowing body to loot. The only thing in there that will still give drops is if Veteran Svanir have time to use their summon Ice Brood (wolf) skill, those Ice Brood still yield drops.
Areanet willingly or unwillingly made these 3 roaming patrols equalizing the same mobs of 1st part aka the “bonfire” where you light up the 6 fires and hold up. The waves of Veteran Svanir there also did not drop any loot but their summoned Ice Brood did.
Now hopefully they won’t nerf Ice elementals of phase 2.
p/p is appealing I know, but you just have to keep in mind the opportunity cost.
1) Bow means aoe might helping your team to stack up to 25might on those fire fields (warrior longbow / elementalist).
2)The aoe weakness that lasts very long.
3) Kite/evade on demand #3
4) you’re stunned without stun removal at hand ? #5 away to keep you alive while stun wears out.
p/p feels good, feels easy, yea it’s great seeing it proc omnom ghost like a mofo but yea, what do you do aside from that?
I use both myself (IV V VI). Blind can actually cover you for the time in between the dazes.
As for OP, I felt lacking bit too much for my taste when I’m using my soldier set. I enjoy staying full berserker/asc since you have a lot more control over the fight kitten D.
until you get access to omnomberry pie/ghost foods which allow you to handle any thing with any weapon/skill setups, I’d suggest you stick to dagger/dagger death blossoms + calltrops (with trick cooldown trait it was like only 6-8sec downtime in between effecting calltropping). carrion gear (green masterwork only) + signet of malice will keep you alive vs any size mobs
04:29am gandara server. got 3 gifts, but previous run I didnt get anything, and I should’ve gotten my daily reward from it (random booster + karma potion)
Hmm i tested it with 30 trait in dealy arts and didnt see difference in time, while it should be 3 s ( means double) if u think its affected by that, so i gues it isnt, couse that would be kinda op.
The elite Venom does not benefit from that trait.
Yea, I know kitten right. Never understood why they call it an elite. Just an overhyped utility. Kinda like people that think that Will Smith is a good actor.

I’m glad they don’t have blur effect. So it’s harder for them to tell if you used endurance to dodge or simply just jumped around like a manic asura.
When you fight other thieves it’s easy to count/keep track of dodges with the blurs and go “yea eat my sneak attack/unload now kitten!”
you can join other peoples overflow.. Just right click on them and select Join Lion’s arch or something. I think that would work.
That is the problem none of the server have overflow. I suppose I can try the suggestion of joining a EU server’s group overflow… That is silly though.
As a EU player that plays at offpeak hours whenever I’m that situation, I join a NA party , synch to their overflow, leave party, and start recruiting saying I got overflow

It’s a lot more bright that the screenshot I’ve seen on web. If you have dark hues, the book will stand out as if sunlight shones directly on the book itself. Like some sort of holy divine book.
My research so far proved unsuccessful as to determine wether I shoulder craft an Endless Quiver (offensive slot/prec/tough/cond) or Tome of the Rubicon (defensive slot/prec/tough/cond).
The only screenshot on wiki shows a zoomed in book, but not how it scales to the character.
I already have a Quiver of Swift Flight so I know how it looks on me. But I also use the slingshot skin on my shortbow which doesnt rest directly on my back (there’s like 20cm of empty space as if slingshot floats). Now if book would fill up that space, and make my slingshot lie right on top of the book it would be awesome!
Long thesis short, would any rival krewe mate unwillingly forcibly screenshot themselves with a book backitem.
p/d #1 sneak attack animation shoots out those 5x bullets in a much faster rate of fire than p/p #3 Unload. And also Sneak Attack only uses the right hand pistol. While unload will shoot each pistol alternatively from right to left.
Since I get culling issues with Scorp Wire I stopped using it. It goes like I shoot rope out, wonder if it did hit or was obstructed or out of range or evaded, then I see that it did pull the guy in, but I can’t see him, and guy only appears when he’s already running back away.
I’d vote for removal of quickness in spvp and wv3, leave it for pve. Just ruins the fun for me and the victim. Feels ackward and out of place in the pace of combat. It’s extremely efficient. Too much in my view.
