As far as I know all Gem Store items will be 75% off, so if that’s the case, and the DD goes one sale, just get it there.
My mom is a dental hygienist.
So you want to hang onto them for a whole year? In my experience with hanging onto junk for a year, ANet doesn’t pay attention to this stuff, forgets about it, and ultimately ignores that is was a thing by the time the event comes around again.

I think it’s safer to say, whatever you think it will be, it will not be that and you will be disappointed with the results. Only if you have no expectations will you be potentially satisfied.
It is an expansion, but the entire expansion is actually SAB
It’s always be soft wood, but I find I run into issues with gold more than any other ore.
I’ve wanted a 2 handed spear out of the water for my ranger since before the game released, so technically none of the above.
Keep on keepin on
All the Legendaries are dumb. None of them are great for a variety of reasons.
The story of Guild Wars isn’t supposed to be about the player. We’re supposed to be spectators, who also participate, in a series of extremely important events occurring in our time. So yeah, clapping is uncool. I’m not the leader. I’m ok with being second.
I don’t like that philosophy at all, personally. I have no ‘need to feel like the center of the universe’, but if I wanted to watch a movie, there are better ones, and they also in no way feature anything that is a focus of my creative expressions or time-and-energy investments.
For my experience, a great deal of the personal story post Claw Island was rendered quite unlikeable, because it seemed to be to suddenly become Trahearne’s story, and my character was suddenly his overworked yet still pointlessly present intern.
There are excellent ways to tell a story in which whomever the player is playing is not the central, driving figure at the heart of anything (See: Final Fantasy Tactics), but they didn’t really do that either. It went from very much being ‘my story’ to all these other people I didn’t rightly give two spits about.
I wanted to know more about what my character was actually doing. All the decisions Trahearne goes on to make? Those either should have been ours, or the focus should have been something else entirely. As it was, we got to witness Trahearne making executive decisions, with our role being to go and do all the hard parts.
Any half decent tabletop GM will tell you point blank that players tend not to be enthusiastic about GM-NPC’s showing up and stealing all the thunder, taking all the credit and ‘Gandalkitten’ everything.
I vastly prefer game storylines to be about the character(s) the players are playing. Whether they’re major players in the world or insignificant specks doing whatever is important to them in a world infinitely bigger than they’ll ever see or know, I want it to be about them.
Not some feckless NPC that’s strutted out for me to…what, exactly? Admire? Its clutter, make it go away, I want to get back to the good part.
If I wanted to play a piece of scenery, I’d go try to be an uncredited extra in a film somewhere.
That’s just my take on it. I’m personally glad they’re angling things around to put a proper focus on ‘The main character’.
Because that’s us. And now, here in Season 2, they seem to be getting the idea for how to do the story focus so its on something I feel to be worthwhile.
US
All I got out of this was, “I don’t need to be the center of attention, but I do absolutely need to be the center of attention, or it’s not fun.”
It’s not an expansion, it’s just more Living World. Anyone who expects differently is being deluded. There is absolutely nothing about the trailer that even remotely indicates anything more than Season 3
Quote related to the “Heart of Thornes” pax presentation: “Living World was just the beginning”
.. a 90 min presentation at the MAIN stage ..
The fact that they’ve trademarked “Heart of Thornes” ..
These all reasons to believe it’s very possible we will see an expansion soon.
It will def be big, not just a preview of living story season 3, no way ..
Prepare to be disappointed.

I felt like the final boss fight of the finale was one of those rare moments where you really felt strongly like it was a team effort between you and your npc companions
Eeeeeexcept after the fight all they enthuse about is me and they all clap for me like I did all the work solo
Why can’t it be about “us”? That whole circle of clapping for the player character just felt very awkward for me and I wish they’d acknowledge their own efforts.
P.S. Braham’s sanctuary bubble does basically nothing, make him put a protection symbol instead or something
P.P.S. Kasmeer’s infinite time warp is so OP
Meh, I’ve been bugged about the whole thing since way back when they suddenly claimed I was the leader of the group. I’ve never been the leader of the group. This whole group came together because of Marjory, she was the one with the investigation, the skills and the knowledge. I was just some guy who wanders around a lot and gets where things are happening. I’m a useful tool, but Marjory is the one who should be in charge.
I would have accepted the reign if they’d actually killed her like they should have in Scarlet’s ship. Even then, I’m the one who killed Scarlet because I happened to manage to get a stomp in? Kasmeer is the one who went postal on her and made it possible.

Oh, I thought this was going to be a long post that broke down to, “Because it is aesthetically pleasing.”
Make a Ranger
I’m coming at this from a different direction. I don’t trust ANet to develop a system where this would work. Ultimately it would fall short and just as Legendaries are legion, so would this unique character modifier.
I’m going with Laurels, I’ve got a ton of them, but that’s only because I haven’t turned them into gear for all my alts yet.
I still have a handful of characters I’m working my way to 80 with, one I hate playing, but don’t want to delete so the only way is with these.
3) When a Looking For Group post is made box is added to require this gear check box to be clicked in order to see the LFG post. If the player has not opted in they can not see it.
I’m posting this again in bold in the hopes people will actually read it and understand it. This is the most important part of the whole OP. And the part that seems to be missed by most of the decenters.
While I do like the idea, I can picture that a majority of dungeon lfgs would practically add in the “gear check” option to their advertisements. This is just a potential risk to consider.
For certain dungeons (like Arah) it won’t be any different than all the dungeon sellers. Just like when you see the “Selling Arah P2” and you KNOW what you will expect, with this feature you will also know what to expect when you join.
I don’t see that many people joining Selling runs thinking they are regular runs.
Except, if they have gear check option checked, which is part of this proposal, and you don’t have it checked, you don’t see that post in the first place. Therefore, none of this is relevant.
No matter what good intentions people may have for gear check it will only devolve into a way to exclude people because others don’t play the way someone wants them to.
Which is irrelevant because those people will do that anyway. This does not improve their ability to be elite, this allows them to exclude themselves from those who don’t want to interact with them in the first place. They’re not excluding PHIW people, because PHIW people won’t even see them to be excluded. Everyone is happier as a result.
This thread is a living definition of ochlocracy.
No, it’s just an argument primarily between people who are ignorant of the actual specifics of the argument. None of these people have any actual control of the outcome, though, therefore they don’t rule anything. They’re just jabbering.
There are really only a handful of reasonable people in this thread who actually bothered to read the entire proposal, without blinders, and to then work out the benefits or otherwise themselves. They’re the posts that matter, and if ANet is watching, hopefully they’re ignoring the knee jerkers who don’t even understand how this proposal would still satisfy their sensibilities.
I’m against this feature for 3 reasons:
1: It is an extra step an inexperienced player has to take: A player who looks at his lfg tool group without knowing about this feature will think that there are no groups and will feel that the content is dead but it isn’t since the groups are hidden by this feature.
There will still be groups. They just won’t be the elitist groups. Eventually, based on the new level up system there would be a plurb explaining the check box. Then if he wants to experience the aspect of the game he can.
2: It makes the play how you want groups far more vulnerable: A player who has this feature activated will enter a a play how you want group, the other players will check his gear and see that he has gear that don’t satisfy their personal desires and they will kick the player faster then the group creator can respond to the kick motion. (before you say this doesn’t happen I had such an occasion with a low lvl who joined my group)
So? That’s how it goes, that’s why this is the elitist option. If this is a problem for you do not check that box. It’s also far better to be kicked immediately like that than to get half way through the dungeon before the group decides you’re not living up to their expectations and kicks you anyway.
3. I don’t see how this is superior to ping’ing your gear, you could say that he could ping the wrong gear, but it is also reasonably to asssume that you’re not going to check it before every battle, so the troll can switch out somewhere in the dungeon.
This is superior in every way. It allows the groups that care about such things to “ping” your gear themselves at any time, so if you’re trying to trick them you’ll get caught. It allows those who don’t want to experience that aspect of the game to NEVER experience it.
On a side note, it will finally allow people a way of identifying pieces of gear that look interesting to them without having to pester the player and hope they’ll respond at all.
3) When a Looking For Group post is made box is added to require this gear check box to be clicked in order to see the LFG post. If the player has not opted in they can not see it.
This right here is what makes this a quality suggestion. No whining, no one is forced gear check or gtfo. If it’s important to you it’s on, and no one who doesn’t want to opt in will ever bother you again and therefore you can’t bother them either. I have no interest in being judged for my build, or being told I can’t participate because I don’t follow their impression of what I should be. I 100% support this proposal.
Well, I’ve gotten a level 80 exotic on an alt in the 30’s (it did startle me to have that happen). Maybe the loot tables just get weighted by level, not completely determined by it.
It was level 80 because it was exotic, exotic is always level 80, except for the craftable back pieces for some reason.
It’s rolled on opening, because if you get at level 50 and open it at level 80 it will be higher level gear.
A two handed tomb actually does sound pretty cool. It would obviously have to be ranged focus because melee with a book seems weird.
Maybe melee with a mesmer!
I love beating my enemies over the head with a good book!
Edit: I’m not sure they’d implement such a weapon because of the Guardian Elite Tome skills. It’s still a fun idea though!
Guardian’s don’t have to get it.
All of the Legendaries. If it doesn’t look dumb, it has a weird effect. If it doesn’t have a weird effect it has a weird after effect. If it doesn’t have a weird after effect it has a weird sound effect. None of them are worth my time.
Ranger sword, an auto attack that can’t be on auto to function effectively and disables dodging. A leap that takes you away from combat first. An evade attack that’s just screwy about it’s path and positioning. So effectively everything about it.
A two handed tomb actually does sound pretty cool. It would obviously have to be ranged focus because melee with a book seems weird.
We already have this, it’s called a focus and it’s an offhand weapon.
I’ll be that guy.
It truly does suck that your situation is what it is, but seriously, your situation is so far outside the bounds of standard as to not even be anecdotal where concern over playability is considered. On the up side, though, dailies don’t mean anything. You won’t be able to get those free 10 achievement points, but really, big deal. All you have to do to get laurels and the rewards you used to get from dailies is log in every day. Regardless of your situation, if you can come here and complain, you can do that.
They’ve updated the access of bank items for a lot of stuff including event currency, like socks. I had a ton of socks in my bank and none on me but could buy things with them.
I see no reason why this shouldn’t be a thing. It would make life a lot easier than having to actually go to the bank and pick up a bunch of crystals, or be constantly carrying them. Why do I even have a bank slot for them if I have to have them on me to use?
I use a naga and a nostromo for GW2 and it allows me to do everything I’d ever need. I have space on thumb 1, F on thumb 2 and dodge bound to thumb 4 so I can dodge jump with a little thumb rocking. Swap and sheath are above dodge with display all names on 3. There is the thing, though. There are 6 more thumb buttons, and while there are more things you can bind, there aren’t really many things you need. There is a different Razer mouse with a six button wheel that is all you really need. If you definitely want all those extra buttons, though, I would recommend it.
The Nostromo is just perfect for skills, with two rows of 5 and one of 4 it’s got 1-0 and f1-4, and the thumb stick fro movement.
While enjoyable, I would like to see these as a single long shot, rather than jumping from shot to shot. It’s just way more satisfying to see that many dominos fall all together.
Since when are instrument macros allowed?
I have definitely told people if you don’t like it, don’t play. Primarily, though, it is to those people who have no critique, they just straight up dislike some feature or event that was added. For whatever reason it rubs them the wrong way. They don’t have any observations to add, they don’t provide a way to improve it along their consideration of improvement. They just straight up dislike whatever it is and want it to be removed.
So, you know what, “You don’t like it, don’t play. You’re not required. You will survive if you don’t,” is the right answer, because I guarantee that in those circumstances it is true. I add that because, if they were required, if they had to complete it to finish something important to the game somehow, they would have any number of suggestions beyond, just take it out.
Brown Bear Cub, not black bear, not polar bear, brown bear.
To be fair, we knew SAB was not perminant content when the coin was on sale. So you baught it knowing that it was going away. Also buying the coin by passed buying continues, how ever that was done, I never played SAB, it was not my thing.
No, we bought it under the expectation that it was going to return just like the holiday content. That while it may not be useful for stretches of time, that it would become useful again in the future.
I say if they’re not going continue work on SAB then they should open up SAB as permanent content. It doesn’t matter if some people don’t like it, it doesn’t even need to have more rewards, just rerelease what was there last time and let us go. I still have a full green and yellow set to be converted that I haven’t done anything with, taking up space.
Thanks for the post. I’ve never noticed this O.O I have to start looking up more X.X
Yeah good luck with ‘looking up more’ with the current Field of View in this game – all that beautiful terrain and the majority of the time you cant see any of it in normal game play.
The Golem moved cities every day I think back in the day – you got to view it arriving at each city at a certain time – it was great.
It’s first appearance it stopped at each of the cities before coming to an end at Lion’s Arch. It was cool because a different toy was introduced at each city with their own unique dungeon where that toy went haywire. Also during that time as each toy was introduced to the presents around the world as Tixx got to that city to introduce that toy.
Then when it got to LA all the content was available to everyone.
It has been two years since the last time it was over DR.
Also, welcome to the game. Hope you enjoy it.
3) Dodging is the only active way to dodge attacks at the beginning of the game. For some specific classes there are weapon skills and utility skills that will allow you to evade attacks more often than the two dodges you get normally.
Legendary count – 4, both GS included.
5117 hours played since headstart (and don’t know how much on beta).
17k+ AP, full ascended sets, bla-bla.
12 80 characters.
Dungeons/bosses/pvp every day.
Most expensive drop was 89g focus from Shadow Behemoth.
Precursors? What is is precursors?I wonder how many such lucky people are here.
Well… a minimum of 4, since the Legendaries you carry didn’t spawn themselves and had to involve a precursor drop at some point.
For me, none and none. Highest value drop 60-70G from Super Adventure Box
The short answer is, no.
Regardless of your view on the usefulness or brokenness of pets, ANet’s stance is very clear. Pets are part of Ranger, period.
Well the first problem I see is that everything is in German…
None of my friends enjoy GW2. They’re indoctrinated into a different kind of game that I don’t enjoy, and also have short attention spans, so I really couldn’t help.
NVidia, not AMD.
Get an ASUS motherboard.
For no better reason than that they’re cheap get a 4TB HHD. I recommend a 120ishGB SSD for your OS. Always have a separate partition if not entirely separate drive to store things so you don’t wipe it all out if you have to reinstall the OS.
In the theatre. Before leaving highschool. Next thing you know I’ll be shaking my cane and telling you kids to get offa my lawn.
I’m constantly beset by apprehension about kids on my lawn, which is weird, cause I live with my parents and it’s not even my lawn.
