I had read somewhere that the new NPC for collecting blade shards would also be collecting other old LS items. However, either those plans changed, or this was merely a suggestion or rumor.
I would like to get clarification as to whether or not the following types of items should be kept for the possibility of future trade-ins, or if they should be deleted:
- Aetherblade Code Fragment
- Molten Code Fragment
- Toxic Code Fragment
- Watchwork Code Fragment
- Scarlet’s Lockbox Code Fragment
- Found HeirloomYou can delete all the code fragments. Anet removed the chests without warning and upset a lot of players (myself included). They then stated it was a mistake, put the chests back for a little bit, and then gave players fair warning that they would remove the chests permanently and urged us to use all the fragments before they did so.
The chests are still there. They have NEVER been removed. I don’t know where you got your information from but they have been there all along. The screen cap was done today, FYI.
If you don’t really know, just spouting what others say, please make sure it is really accurate and true. Certainly, this is not the case.
They were removed immediately following the end of the marionette, but then added back afterwards because they didn’t “mean” to remove them.

You never read anything from ANet about anything other than Blade Shards. Some hopeful and misguided players were under the impression that since ANet said specifically not to delete your blade shards and that there would be a vendor for them that it somehow meant that other things would also be relevant. They were then vehemently advising people to hold on to anything because their hope, in their minds, had become a reality, and so there would be a vendor for all of it. This was never the case, nor indicated to be the case. You can just delete all that crap, it’s worthless.
I have not, nor have I ever experienced any of these problems with any of the aspects. It might not be them, it might be you. The only thing I’ve experienced is the somewhat inconsistent landing of lightning pull. It often overshoots you, especially if your landing area is much lower than you.
I’m just surprised that they all apparently accepted the role without question. I was expecting any of them to speak up, “Oh he’s not our leader, just a friend.”
I don’t recall anyone asking me if I wanted to be their leader, nor any of them really asking me for directions. I don’t recall being swarn in, or anything of the sort. Do I even get paid? I always assumed Jory was the leader, since she’s the only one who actually has a job and an office.

About 80% of the crystals from last year are still there. The ones that aren’t usually have one nearby.
Great, thanks. I can identify one of the two I’m missing, but I thought I got the rest. I must be confusing one of them with a normal crystal somehow.
I’m at like 21 and no masters. Trying to use last year’s guide, and many aren’t there.
At 40 and 1, I’m thinking you might be writing the guide this year.
Most of the ones I remembered from last year are still there. There are close to ten on the big ship alone. 5 on the pinnacle platue. At least ten before you even start climbing. I have show all names bound and I just use that to look around. I’m up to 8 Master, but two are still alluding me.
Is there a map of the current crystal locations? I’ve got 40 of the Sky Crystals, but I’m 3 short on Master Crystals and I just can’t seem to spot them.
sigh Nothing is ever good enough for some…..
Because those who don’t have Eternity will benefit from this, right?
Sheep mentality is amusing.
This is something that many people have been asking for, even people who don’t have it simply because they’re aware of it. Also, because it’s almost exclusively textural in nature it was probably much easier to fix of all the things people have been asking for. Maybe put some context and weight management into your belief structure before begrudging people their opinions.
I do not, and will not ever have an eternity. I will probably never have any legendary because I just don’t like them. But I can support this, because I understand the need those who had it had in wanting it changed. Of course I also don’t understand why there are three greatsword legendaries, when you can only wield one, but one dagger, axe, or sword of which you can potentially wield two.
Now any time someone says the Devs don’t listen, everyone can point to Eternity and say, even if it takes them forever, they can get it done.
Yes, it would have been cool semi-annually. But since we had no actual indication that it would be, its current lack isn’t an indication that it’s gone.
I can wait until September for it to come back. I don’t feel the need for it to be always available, but I can say that if it were I would definitely jump into it when I was bored.
It would not be difficult for them, I think, to make the skins and achievements only available during specific times, while the instance is always available, but I think that would upset just as many things. Personally, I like “you had to be there” skins, but at the same time I wouldn’t have a lot of problem with them being permanently available to everyone all the time.
I’m also content to wait until the entire game is compete before it becomes permanent.
People don’t read the title, it clearly says “age of account WITHOUT a precursor drop”.
Meaning? It’s useless information. Honestly I find this
1256 hours/7 Precursor drops
much more interesting than someone who has never seen a precursor drop for the age of the game
This thread has inspired me to finally use the /age command, for the hell of it.
It appears I’ve only played my main for 864 hours of the 2160 hours I’ve played since I started playing 631 days ago. And no, for all that time I’ve never had a precursor.
In the defense of the OP, he(or she) is only pointing out the facts.
However, what happened in the parent company (NcSoft) does not mean Anet is not performing well. First of all the a/c is consolidated and did not show how Anet is doing separately.
Further more according to this Asian financial article http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/biz/2014/05/123_157346.html, the lower than expected profit is largely due to poor result from the Lineage series.
Given NcSoft has a strong line-up for the second half of the year (Wildstar, Sword & Soul, etc), the revenue should pick up for the final quarter of the year.
Yes, but what is the point of the thread? Why even bother to bring this up at all? What conclusions are we expected to garner from this information?
Pointless thread is pointless, moving on.
The reason they don’t give you items you used as a skin then skinned over is because the game can’t possibly keep a record of every single transmutation that’s ever taken place so there’s no way of knowing you had that item.
For example if you used the holographic dragon wing skin on the scelarite karka shell backpack, then replaced them with the tequatl wings the holo wings are completely destroyed – no part of it is left on your account so there is no way for the game to know you had that item.
Same reason you don’t automatically unlock every skin you’ve used before the wardrobe update. Until that update the game didn’t keep a record of every item you’d equipped, salvaged etc. so there was no way to know who had what.
I don’t know but I assume they didn’t re-issue achievement skins/items for a similar reason. Obviously there is a record that you got it – the achievement – but there may not be any way to get a computer to automatically check who got the achievement, who still has the item and re-issue it to those who lost/deleted it. Which means someone would have to check manually. With over a million accounts that would be a huge amount of effort to go to for something that affects a minority of players. (Since most players who earned those skins and wanted to keep them haven’t deleted them.)
They could make it a bit easier by just re-issuing them to everyone who did the achievement, but then they’d have people complaining that it’s unfair some people have 2 Scelerite Karka Shells, or whatever.
Plus then there’s a good chance a lot of people wouldn’t realise (or wouldn’t care) that it was limited to achievement skins and would start demanding other skins be re-issued.
Basically it’s a lot less trouble all around to keep it to you unlock items you have, or items you get in future.
(And there’s a good chance this means they will give us a way to get these items again at some point. Which benefits not only people who deleted them but people who weren’t able to get them originally, people who want 2 and so on.)
That’s absurd. Of course they know exactly who has every achievement. That is a metric. It is the simplest thing in the world for them to bring up how many people have what achievement and who they are, because if they couldn’t we wouldn’t have those achievements. Since only a handful of achievements are linked to skins it should also be simple for them to link their unlocking mechanism with that system, so unlocking an achievement with a skin unlocks the skin in your wardrobe. Those skins are always account bound, so again it should be second nature to the system. Finally they don’t need to know, nor care if you have it, broken it are wearing it or have it in your bank, you can only unlock the skin once. Once it is unlocked it is over and done with, so it should just work. Regardless of where the skin is, because it should exist in some ethereal form where your account is concerned, unlocked.
I already admitted I was wrong, no use to keep going on about it.
I wasn’t, I was responding to a post before continuing through the thread.
ehm.. yes you were by responding to a post that was already resolved
No, see, now we’re going on about it. Because we’re continuing something and having an unnecessary conversation. Responding to a post when you first get to it, and haven’t read the rest of the thread to see everything was adequately wrapped up, is not going on about it. It’s not intentionally pushing the point or rubbing it in, it’s just answering the initial post. Just as responding to the OP, even if the entire situation has been answered and resolved is not going on about it. It is the way of forum threads, nothing more.
I already admitted I was wrong, no use to keep going on about it.
I wasn’t, I was responding to a post before continuing through the thread.
There are any number of cool creatures out there that would make cool and interesting pets. While it would be easier for them to just make one unusual novelty pet, I would much prefer to see them adding families to the list of pets, like skelk, skale and griffon.
Ultimately, despite the Ranger being one of the most played classes, putting in that much effort for only one class seems highly unlikely, especially when it’s taken this long to put in even the minimum effort to start fixing the many broken aspects of the class in the first place.
thing is, they very probably did not track used skins/account in their data before the feature patch. And I doubt they kept track of player activities for that long. So they would only depend on your word – and thousands of other peoples´ words. I can´t see any way how to fix this reasonably.
By looking at your account, going “You have this achievement. The one that specifically grants you this backpack or whatever, with this unique skin. Therefore, here is the skin in your wardrobe.”
Based on the OP, specifically talking about the Fervid Censor, problem solved.
I will ask everyone to note that only those that “skinned over” or “transmutted over” the items they are lamenting over did not unlock those “special” skins. Basically, you didn’t think they were special enough to keep them, yet now that you feel you should get something BACK that you discarded, you are complaining.
Typical of the “entitled” portion of the player base.
I have skins I tossed myself, and I fully realize I MADE A MISTAKE and lost those items thru a conscious decision. The funny thing is those skins were much more valuable when they were destroyed than they are now as anyone that KEPT them can now destroy the item with impunity and still get back the “look”…..so it’s far less “unique” now.
I have kept every single skin I’ve unlocked in pristine condition, taking up bank space until such time as I made a character who would work with it. The only skin I “lament” is the blue SAB backpack, which was not an unlock, unlike the Green and Yellow after it, but something I had to just buy. I loved it for what it was, but it never fit the character it was on because he was green and it was blue, they didn’t go together.
I skinned over it with the green reluctantly, because I knew I would probably never get it back and I was sad to lose it. I couldn’t just keep the blue and make a new one for the green because at the time there was no reliable way to get easy backpacks, and there still isn’t a simple way to get account bound backpacks. So with heavy heart I skinned over the super rare blue backpack with the more common green backpack.
Then when wardrobes came out, I forgot that the blue SAB backpack wasn’t a backpack, but just a skin for a backpack, and was happy that I’d get it back, even though I still have no particular use for it. I did not, because it wasn’t any of the things that do get unlocked or even should get unlocked. I lament its lose, but I also demand nothing. I do, however, think that if you unlocked a skin through an achievement, of which my lost skin does not apply, you should have that skin unlocked on your wardrobe, because DUH. I also hope that the blue SAB backpack will become available again so I can add it to my wardrobe, whether I have a use for it or not.
Festival of the Winds will give a chance for the achievement skins for all players. So you should be able to get the Sclerite Karka Shell and Fervid Censor backpacks.
If only the blue SAB backpack hadn’t been a one time buy it skin… I will never get it back. Then again I only lament it for its quality as an “I was there” item, I don’t have any characters I would want to wear it.
So… Everquest Next?
mmmm
I skinned the Zephyr back pack ( the one with the Toucan) over my Sclerite back and I got both back in the wardrobeI crafted Eye of Rodgort from scratch and didn’t get Lidless Eye.
one is a straight transmute- one is a skin progression – go figure
The first one you were putting a skin on an item, not a skin on a different skin on a third completely separate item.
The second you should put in a ticket, you should have both skins.
It’s gone, just like my blue SAB backpack. You used it as the skin, then you skinned over it, effectively removing it from existence.
Actually that shouldn’t matter.
From the ‘Introducing the Wardrobe’ page:
If you have an item that has gone through skin progression, like a legendary weapon or one of the Spinal Blade backpacks from the “Escape from Lion’s Arch” and “Battle for Lion’s Arch” releases, you will unlock all of the skins in that direct line of progression. That means that if you made Twilight, you will have access to both the Twilight and Dusk skins across your entire account. If you’ve created the Dynamic Tempered Spinal Blades, you’ll unlock that skin and all previous Spinal Blade skins. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but transmutation seems like skin progression too.
No, skin progression is relevant to only two things. Tempered Spinal Blade and Eternity (all legendaries, really). Both of those things were created by using specific items with specific skins. In the case of the Tempered Spinal Blade that includes all incarnations from the backpack with no blades to the Ascended ones with colored auras. You automatically get the skins for every version below the one you have.
It has nothing to do with transmutation, which was the whole point of why you would lose your skin if you transmuted over a skin that was transmuted onto a different item.
Finally a pair of boots that don’t clip on asuran feet!
There are a handful of boots that already don’t clip, for each weight category. But gratz for getting one you like.
Your most efficient way to build Blade Shards is definitely the Mystic Forge Recipe. All you need is 1 Blade Shard to start, but you need a LOT of sprockets, but since they’re tradable they’re also much easier to get your hands on.
1 Blade Shard + 50 Sprockets + 1 Tier 1 Dust + 1 Tier 2 Dust = 10-15 Blade Shards. Rinse and Repeat. This is going to be a significantly better drop rate than getting them off Aetherblades.
I have a lowbie character stationed at the home entrance and farm the three nodes daily. Eventually I’ll just burn all the sprockets for new shards. Of course it’s the iron that’s hurting me. ANet gives up copper, silver and gold nodes, but who needs those? I need iron.
I don’t care how you spell it, SAB fandom knows no language. It is a language in itself.
It’s still jarring in the Salma District to hear someone complaining that the caravan from Lion’s Arch is late. I want to shake her. “Lady, haven’t you HEARD?”
Yeah, it’s gonna be late. It’s gonna be real kitten late.
But today is the 13th… the new content is next week.
Queens Jubilee and Festival of the Four Winds were two separate events last year. This year the basic events that take place in them will be happening together.
Imagine a little zone that is almost entirely a jumping puzzle, with a series of smaller jumping puzzles. Then add three special powers that allow for special movement abilities to be used in specific sections of that jumping puzzle. Now scatter interactable objects all around the zone for a jumping puzzle scavenger hunt and place a smattering of a special resource node. That’s basically the gist of the Festival, with a handful of events and random champions thrown in for good measure.
Oh yes, there was also a race that included those same movement powers as an activity. Basically if you enjoy primarily non-combat activities you should enjoy the Festival.

I got there. Isn’t there a thing up there? Goggles I think. That was the best jump ever.
hm, I will hijack this thread with a question to all of those laid back, maybe doing dungeon once in a livetime, because doing other stuff in game and never actually got to doing them, they are rather boring, but with a fun group one would actually do some sometimes…
If I put up a lfg with such requirements
1)dungeon noob
2)brain
3)able to communicate
4)humorwould you join?
That sounds like a dungeon group I’d jump on, and hope there was someone who understood the end boss mechanic.
What it comes down to is that AP shouldn’t be used as a measure to kick someone out a group under any circumstances!!
And everyone would have been on your side to that effect if not for that one last line about how you do it anyway.
Oh boy—new content/maps/dungeons and a megaserver revamp!!! Thanks for all the new stuff!!!!
/sarcasm?
Since none of it is new?
I feel like so many players measure AP as a skill base. While yes it can determine how long someone has played for, it doesn’t measure how skilled you are. And while yes there is nothing in game to measure skill at first sight, capping LFG groups at “LFG Zerk Only 7,000+ AP Ping Gear or kick!” Is annoying at the least.
Last night In fractals I had a 21.000 ap guy repeatedly die at various parts more so than everyone else around 3-5k.
However I do agree if someone’s joining my group at high level fractals and has 500 ap I’m gonna kick them. I feel it should be loosely based on something like that to avoid wasting time.
So AP isn’t a measure of skill… but if they don’t have good AP (a meaningless statistic that was never intended to indicate skill) they obviously don’t have skill? This thread is pointless and makes no sense. Don’t complain about something you obviously subscribe to.
Someone has a gambling problem
It’s gone, just like my blue SAB backpack. You used it as the skin, then you skinned over it, effectively removing it from existence.
I’ll admit the description wasn’t overly clear on the details there, but it was mentioned. It was also rather well after the fact, so there is technically nothing they can do.
I say technically, because if they really cared they’d go to the trouble of making sure anyone with an achievement that awards a skin would get that skin in their wardrobe whether they still have the skin or not. I’m just pretty sure that they don’t actually care. If they did they would have implemented that in the first place, and probably wouldn’t have removed the ability to transfer upgrades through transmutation.
I suppose, it just seems like unbinding to account is more likely to be considered and implemented.
Get better muscle memory? I don’t know, I’ve never had a problem with this.
That said, wouldn’t the more obvious thing to ask for be, let keybinds me character bound instead of account bound? I would love for that to be a thing because then I could have my F4 be bound to 14 instead of mouse button 11 on everything but my ranger by binding F4 to a different key just for my rangers.
Q.Q ?
Give me SAB every couple weeks and I’ll be happy forever.
wow wee guys, gosh i didn’t know any of that, your comments were super useful at being useless.
And i would never share my account, but seeing as if someone gets hacked, their ip is usually from a different country which shouldnt be allowed either. You would think that tiny extra layer would be great
Ok mister wiseguy. What exactly is the purpose of password protecting a thing that only one person has access to? Who are you protecting it from? Yourself?
The only exception I can see be made is for RNG items like the jetpack in the molten alliance dungeon.
I don’t believe there should even be RNG-based time-limited items. I was there is simply not the same kind of message as i happened to be lucky at that time.
Agreed. I like I was there items. Or I was there and worked to get this item that anyone who was there and put in the effort could get. But, I was there and just happened to be lucky enough to get this item that almost no one got even though they were there, is not so ok.
Being able to show off your experiences is a cool feature. It too bad some people feel left out, but that’s how it goes. You shouldn’t always get what you want just because you want it.
So what I got out of this is: Every problem I have with the game is that I don’t get better gear and I want better gear. Really, the only thing I want is better gear, or possibly consumables that are worthwhile, but probably just better gear. The longer I play the game, which does not equate to skill in any meaningful way, but I’ll pretend like it does, the more better gear I should be able to get. I don’t care about titles and fashion and rank, just more better gear.
And with that in mind, I’m sorry, but you missed the point of lateral progression. The point of GW2 endgame is not gear progression and better gear, the entire point is 100% cosmetic. That’s why all there is after 80 is fashion, titles and rank.
So it’s unfortunately for you that your desires and the design of the game don’t coincide, but that’s how it is.
Currently, while waiting for the LS to start up again and playing a different MMO more seriously, I log in on each of my 80s, each next to a different JP chest to collect goodies and fragments, a lowbie character next to the personal zone to collect crystals, candy corn and gears, and to make rare crystals, then finally another character to collect the 25 luck picture from the girl in the refugee camp.
Huh. Would have been nice to know it was considered an exploit, never would have put spendy runes and sigils in WvW badge gear nor encouraged others to get the WvW badge gear if I had known.
It’s an exploit-type use of the transmutation system that was a direct result of how the system worked. Previously, the system did not know what the skin source item is, or what the stat source item is. All it asked was for you to throw in two items, choose the skin, choose the stats, choose the rune/sigil (if present). The Wardrobe system now clearly tells which item is the stat source, because it’s an item you’ve got equipped.
It’s not an exploit to use the system the way the system is designed to work. You still can’t salvage the items that aren’t salvageable. You’ve burned an item in the process of transmuting, therefore IF you can happen to salvage the resulting item to get the runes out it isn’t a problem because you wasted resources in order to gain resources. That’s not an exploit, that’s working as intended.
When the bar fills up, and the numbers change to the next levels you get character xp. That’s how the game works. Take a picture of that happening and you should see the difference.
No, they shouldn’t have removed the mechanic in the first place.
My question is, if Anet didn’t want healing to be a major focal point, why introduce a stat like healing power? The stat itself is largely pointless because investing too much into it would mean sacrificing your dps, which is the bread and butter of this game. Also, most healing skills perform fine without it and the scaling is really poor for the most part.
I’m all for destroying the typical MMO trinity, but to me it doesn’t make sense to have stats in a game that are useful for specific build roles, only to then make those roles ineffective and thus, the stats along with them.
Because once upon a time the above summary wasn’t the case. Control and Support were legitimate roles because bosses and mobs didn’t work the way they work now. Things went wrong in the design and they completely broke bosses and mobs to “fix” the problem. The resultant release state is one where Control and Support aren’t necessary in any way and only DPS matters.
