Evolution is NOT about wants. It’s about change in response to the surrounding environment, but there has to be a “path” possible towards this change.
So you’re saying that a charr mating with an asura is due to a change in the environment? Well wouldn’t you know it, Primodus is awakening. When his rein of terror blankets the land in death, nature will call forth a new type of hero. One born of the fires of war (charr) with the intellect to succeed (asura). And there you have it: Charrsura.
Basic Fantasy 101: When a foe is too powerful, you power up. Think of it like Goku’s fusion technique.
Hybrid species are not happening in gw2 for a multitude of reasons.
You mean like centaurs?
Centaurs, in Tyria, are not hybrid. They have humanoid parts, the torso, but the entire rest of their bodies are beastial in nature. Their heads are more similar to goats than humans, even than horses.
The only creature that can truly be considered a hybrid is most likely the Norn, who were created by Koda magic more than evolution. It’s more than a little unclear how they were made and if humans were involved in any way. But even they are not compatible with humans, primarily due to an incredibly increased body temperature that would kill off human sperm, and would probably damage a human egg as well.
You seem to be referring to the centaurs from Elona, which are a three-way between horses, gazelles, and big cats. However, see —
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Centaur
— for the Central Tyrian variety.
No, actually I’m I’m talking about the Centaurs in Kryta. I’ve never been to Elona. Hell, just looking at the pictures in that wiki you can see they don’t have human heads. Not at all human.
Wow, that was FAR more technical a reason than I expected.

This…
It is because we are talking about species, not races (probably D&D’s fault for starting this by calling them “races” and creating half-elves for those who wanted to have the best of both worlds)
And how else would you get a half elf? By have a human and an elf have offspring. Half elves are biracial. So take the same concept with a charr and asura, and you get a half charr or half asura. I just combine them to Charrsura for cuteness.
Horses and Donkeys are similar enough species to breed, and the result is the Mule, a sterile offspring that can’t breed itself. All Mules exist because of Donkey/Horse interbreeding.
Horses and Cats are not similar enough species to interbreed. There is no creature in the world, sterile or otherwise, that is a combination of these two things.
Humans and our closest living relatives of the great apes are not similar enough to interbreed… probably. I don’t think it’s ever been tested, but I assume it to be true.
In DnD Humans and Elves should not actually be able to breed. If they can it should be like Donkeys and Horses. Producing sterile offspring. Humans and Orcs also no. Dragons and everything, very no.
Charr and Asura are in no way related genetically. They are two disparit species. They cannot breed. Norn look like humans, but they are very much not human. They were created by the Koda, polarbear people, they are more likely to have commonality with them than humans. Humans aren’t even from Tyria. They’re from another planet, probably Earth. They should have no genetic compatibility with anything on the planet.
Species, generally speaking, cannot interbreed. Those few that can are the exception rather than the rule.
Not sure what the fuss is all about, the skins for those backpacks are all terrible in design and looks imo. Not really a loss to choose the ‘wrong’ one.
Looks more like a lazy attempt at ‘rewarding’ vets for sticking with the game this long, whether you’ve played or not.Maybe to you. However beauty and ugliness is all opinion. What’s good looking to one is ugly to someone else and vice versa. I happen to like the Asura one. I like all but the Sylvari one, but only the Asura one really fit with my current characters.
And if players thought they were going to get them all eventually this year with their 4 year old characters and they had one of each race turning 4 this year, they may have decided to do it by race to make sure they didn’t get a duplicate before they had unlocked all 5 skins.
The only one I thought was abhorrent was the Divinity’s Reach one. That one is awful. The others are cool.
I chose the Grove one cause I thought it might go better with one of my Sylvari than the shoulder flower she’s currently using. I was wrong. But if I’d known I would have chosen the Hoelbrak one. I put in a ticket and was told that if I deleted the one I had he would replace it with the one I wanted. So I did. It’s their bad that the skin unlocked for the other one, but honestly I’m not going to use it, the shape clips with her body in exactly the worse ways.
I could definitely find uses for the Black Citadel one and probably for Rata Sum
A shame, but we never got a gift/reward for completing the Achievement before (just a Title), so it’s really a plus.
The birthday-finisher last year was also part of/reward for the achievment
It was, but like the new birthday mail carrier there was only one option.
This is the first time they gave us a choice. I would not have been so hasty opening the package if I’d realized it came with an achievement and not the package. I think the grove one is cool, but I’m not sure I’d pick it as my one and only.
I still haven’t finished Prophesies, so I’m not really all gaga over the Mursaat and don’t know much past it turns out the White Mantle is bad. I thought this story was great. Of course it was short, they’re always short. But we also got a little zone out of it which is pretty cool. As well as a new trinket to eat bloodstone
(edited by Kal Spiro.9745)
It wasn’t that hard, it just took an ungodly amount of time because she has so much HP. The endlessly spawning guys weren’t that big an issue because they do kitten damage and die easy. I went down one time in the fight because I was timing my attacks poorly and let her hit me, but I got back up because I was trashing the adds too. It also appears that someone is healing you every so often, but I’m not sure who it was.
Using the bloodstone is the easiest thing in the world, though, and shouldn’t be a consideration.
What is wrong with you people. Why is anyone taking this suggestion seriously enough to say no? Just laugh at it the silliness and move on.
I just completed it yesterday, so it’s obviously still doable. I did all ten victories since the change, also.
If you can’t manage it, that’s on you more than anything else.

What is involved in Thwart the Inquest?
I agree, that’s a gorgeous longbow, but a little odd for a shortbow
I know people are done with Sylvari because they’re everywhere, but we still miss Malyck and his Tree in story (btw it was cut from HoT story due to time deadlines) and there are still covered maps in the Jungle… We cannot just ignore that and go to Crystal Desert…
I do like Canach, but I felt that special bond with Trehearne, because he was my friend and Canach is sarcastic kitten – I am playing sylvari btw.
Well, we’ll see if he joins us or leaves us to his own business.
I’d prefer when he leaves us and we find Malyck finally, meet his tree and get all information about what happened with Sylvaris after Mordy’s death, then finito and let’s move to Rata Novus!I actually liked Trahearne despite my joke earlier. He seems like the only one that was really your friend in this. At least that’s how I felt.
That’s because the dungeon story modes aren’t designed to be soloable and made to be part of the actual story, like Arah.
If you had to play through them when they become available/in line with the story, you would have a much tighter connection with all of Destiny’s Edge. Unfortunately all of Season One is still lost to time, so the initial introductions of 2.0 don’t exist. If we could get both of these things, we’d have a stronger connection to DE, which would translate into 2.0 as they’re introduced. Then by the end it would be meaningful who we picked and what was happening to everyone.
What was wrong with Destiny’s Edge 2.0?
Eternity’s Guard is the only one that really works.
Dragon’s Watch isn’t right because they’ve only just become involved with Dragons. The commander et. all already defeated an entire dragon before they entered the scene.
The Unbroken is borderline insulting. Almost all of them are broken in one way or another from emotionally to physically. Taimi is hardly unbroken, her whole thing is that he bone are brittle and break with little effort. Marjory and Braham are hardly unbroken after losing extremely important people in their lives. Who knows what exactly is going on with Rytlock.
I’m not a fan of Eternity’s Guard, but it’s at least partially on point because of the Glint connection. Since it’s the only remaining option, it has to be the one I choose.
/wiki opened my main browser.
The crash isn’t consistent. Sometimes BLTC works sometimes it fails. I can go for a while, swapping characters with no problem, then it will suddenly fail. This is why I think it’s a server issue, or something along those lines. Because it’s something that can be irregular across sessions.
Why not? 100% duration doesn’t mean permanent duration it means twice as long. So 133% is twice plus a third
Kinda, I have a lot of characters, with a lot of repeats, but I have at least one of every race and at least one of all the base classes.
Human – Ranger
Human – Thief
Human – Elementalist
Human – Herald
Charr – Berzerker
Charr – Scrapper
Charr – Elementalist (will be Tempest)
Asura – Deardevil
Asura – Necromancer
Asura – Guardian
Sylvari – DragonHunter
Sylvari – Mesmer
Sylvari – Warrior
Norn – Ranger
It always amazes me how people are “blessed” with such amazingly poor imaginations.
Why is it better to look at something and tear it down than it is to look at it and try to figure out how it could work?
Why do it? Because it could be fun. That’s the only reason that matters. Because it can be done and it could be fun. Why make a war hammer a ranged weapon? Because it could be fun. And wouldn’t you know, it kind of is. This could be to.
There are 19,237 active suggestions that could be fun — which should we choose? I think it’s worth considering which have the most potential, which add to or complement existing themes and mechanics, and which are reasonable effort relative to those benefits.
Of course melee pistols could be made to fit and they could be fun, depending on how they were implemented. However, to me, they aren’t more fun than a lot of other ideas for the next set of weapons.
At some point ANet wants to put every weapon in the hands of every class. That’s the idea down the road. So eventually every class will have guns. Right now we have Mesmer, Thief and Engineer. A weird magic set that doesn’t really shoot so much as use the weapon as a totem. A classic firearm set. A bizarre set what fires strange effects and has little to no connection with how guns should ever work.
There are potentially infinite options, maybe? But it’s going to get hard. Having a melee option to work with is not unreasonable.

And sometimes some ideas just break our suspension of disbelief. A pistol that isn’t accurate past point blank range breaks my suspension of disbelief.
Then your suspension of disbelief is remarkably fragile. You’re in a game with plant people and myriad sentient species, magic and technology, but a weapon skill set devoted to using a ranged weapon in melee is too much for you?
Not every time, but a lot and often in succession, when I open BLTC it crashes the whole game. At first I thought it was connected to attempting to sell something directly from inventory, but this time it happened just hitting the icon, so I’m thinking it’s a problem with BLTC in general.

I can totally get behind Gun Kata.
Skill one chain: Hip shot (piercing 300 range), Foot Shot (cripple), Shot to the Jaw (bleeding) [First shot is a quick draw at the hip, second shot extends to shoot down at the feet, third shot leans in and pulls the gun up to shoot in the head.]
Skill two: Line Them Up (melee shot that hits the target then hits a target behind that target and continues up to five targets. They don’t have to be in a line, just behind.) [Extends hand out straight toward chest level]
Skill three: Gun Kata (lasts two second at most, personal reflect, even reflects melee attacks.) [Character spins around, waving gun through various forms]
Skill four: Pump them full of lead. (rapid series of shots, inflicts torment) [Leans in, holding gun close and angled toward gut, firing repeatedly]
Skill five: Pistol Whip. (stun) [Backhand at the face]
The only ranged attack in here is the first in the auto chain, and it’s not really ranged. the other ranged attack still requires melee range to go off.
I only want one thing, and I have only ever wanted one thing. But it fit into the space, I think.
I want a backpack done after the fashion of the poorly made Quaggan stuffed animals from Wintersday. I’m talking big thick stitching and button eyes that hang loose.
If you really looks at it, there are two zones. The city sized zone right next to LA and the starter zone right next to Caladon. They’re split by the passage to the wizard’s tower.
Back during development Tengu actually were going to be playable, but they scrapped them. They still have all the areas, though.
I don’t know, most of the weapons I wield seem to be pretty rare, and most of them are easily acquirable.
For the longest time I used the Wolfborn Longbow on my Ranger main. My Guardian uses Seraph mace. My thief uses King Toad pistols. My necromancer uses the wintersday staff and the SAB focus, used to be blue, now red. My warrior uses the Modjnir axe. My Elementalist uses the ebonhawk staff. My other ranger uses the norn torch.
I never see anyone else with any of these items.
So far I have found 19 of them. I’m certain that there are 20, but I just can’t locate the last one. There are four of them on the ledges above Rata Novus that can’t be reached from inside the city. They have to be reached from the Vista. I know of two underwater, but it’s possible the missing one is actually there, which would make some amount of sense.

I wish more things flailed. I want a flail for my dragonhunter… just not a super flail. But yes to flailing, I didn’t know the colors didn’t do it.
Also, leave it to Josh to actually ask before just doing it. SAB and things like this are the reason he remains the best of the best.
So the reason some of the people don’t understand the problem is because the last time world two was a thing there was no skip. We had to play the tribulation path which meant we got the torch. It was just part of the game.
It wasn’t a very good call to make make the skip without at least mentioning that the player might be skipping tools/upgrades.
My recommendation is to play it through, without skipping. Better, play on infantile, assuming it still follows the long path.
What’s with those 2 rocks in Tribulation mode on the right side of the chasm?
(World 1 Zone 1 between Checkpoint 3 to Checkpoint 4)
50 life’s and I still cat get past them, it’s impossible.
They both go off at the same time BEFORE I get to them.
NOT as you pass them.
Is it lag on my side or what?
In my opinion that section is the hardest in the entire game. You just need to be perfect. You need to jump from the ledge up to the top, past the first block near the second block. From there I’m not sure if you need to dodge or just immediately try to jump to the leaves. I just know that even when I know exactly how to do it I still fail more often than I succeed.
Unless it’s a different two rocks, most of the rocks are on the right side afterall.
Lol collin leaves, good things start happening
That’s kind of ignorant. Taking in the time frame there is no way this wasn’t happening Colin or no Colin. And while it’s fun to get to play through again, kitten many of us wanted, SAB is still getting the same treatment as Legendaries. This is what you get and nothing more. It’s great to get it, but it’s sad to think we’ll never see World 3 or 4 nor save the princess.
I’m curious how we’ll acquire the orange skin, (It was supposed to be red, but I suppose orange is acceptable) since the green skin came from defeating each of the bosses in world 1 for a token each and yellow was world 2. If they’re not implementing world 3, where do the tokens come from?
I just don’t understand why they changed the symbol from the skill point symbol, that one was just fine, and easier to see in all maps.
Eat it all
At least it came up a little. Zojja is only an honorary member of Destiny’s Edge. Snaff is the actual Asuran member. Zojja was just his apprentice and probably not a complete member, especially since they basically broke up immediately after Snaff died.
She takes his place when you put them all back together, but based on Snaff, the redistribution works just fine for Taimi. Also, I guarantee that the Devs noticed that distinction.
Maybe dumb question but why not here on official forum? I am sure you wait for that question.
Larger audience on Reddit.
Source?
Both people who have the game and do not have the game have access to Reddit, only those who have the game have access to here. That is, by definition, a larger audience.
Lolling at the deadpan serious replies ITT
Why so serious?
When someone goes to the trouble of presenting an idea in a serious manner, no matter how silly or pointless, it’s only good etiquette to respond in kind.
Thanks for your kind instincts, Xillllix. No worries about your comments or anyone else’s, really.
But let me explain a bit: I wanted to post because by doing so, players who may not have seen a “red post” for a while will be assured that we are actively reading and responding to this question, and that there are no changes in our plans to bring back this well-loved element of the game.
It might be an easy assumption to say “It’s not here today (or it’s not been here in XXX days) therefore it’s never coming.” But that’s truly inaccurate. So an update seems worthwhile, just to remind forum members of our plans for the future.
While we’re at it, I have to make a plea. Last year I did the same and got a response (sort of), so…
You know people will be expecting sab on April 1st. They will, WE will, especially after these posts, there’s no deniying that.
If it does indeed come back, hurray! No need to worry, BUT if it doesn’t, like last year, please let us know.I understand you may not know when it’s coming back, for real. And you already told us that, but April 1st is not like any othe day, I’d totally expect you to say you don’t have a date and then release it, it has happened twice already. But if it’s not going to happen don’t break our hearts again, just say it’s not coming around this soon and save us yet another disappointment, please.
I’ll still be waiting for April 1st on my beloved SAB, 3rd year in a row, you shall not be forgotten!
I guess I’ll see you there guys
I have to agree with this. I can accept not knowing when it will be, but I’d really like an announcement of when it won’t be.
Can’t support Quaggan rank. Other than Dragon, all the ranks are just animals. Dragon isn’t an animal, but also isn’t exactly a race, it’s more a force of nature. Quaggans are neither of these.
If Quaggans are eligible for rankhood then so should Skritt, Hylek, Ogres and Grawl, since all of them are on the same footing as Quaggan as far as the other societies and groups of Tyria are concerned.
That’s why you should research stuff before you buy it.
Anyway, the name “Guild Wars” originated from an event called “guild wars” that happened in Tyria (the game’s world) a long, long time akitten
ay so do you think that it’s the new player’s responsibility to look this up or the game developer? I mean when i first heard of the game i thought of actual guild wars, not some martin-esque power struggle that isn’t even mentioned at all in any point of the game.
Is the title of the game misleading? a bit
does that matter? not really sure.
would the game do a bit better if it had actual guild wars instead of just implying with its name that it does? a bit.
Yes, it is absolutely the consumer’s job to educate themselves on the product they’re buying. It’s the developer and publisher’s job to get the consumer to buy the product, not to ensure they’re fully informed about it.
In your game shortcut, go into properties, add “-repair” to the “Target:” line. This will cause the loader to test and repair all the files. It’s probably a good idea to then remove that part from that line, or it will do that every time you try to run the game.
Beating the Ancient Karka after hours of that lagfest event is probably the only time I’ve ever truly been thrilled in the game.
I don’t need to be thrilled, though. I just need to enjoy it, which I do.
How is Lineage still doing so well?
Ranger is obviously the laziest. You don’t even have to play your class to win, just let your pet do all the work.
I agree it would be cool if they could glide, but I disagree that they should be gliders. They’re toys, they place you in an alternate state, so I think that while in that state it would be cool if jumping off a cliff imposed the gliding function on you, without changing your appearance. Possibly only in cities, allowing people who don’t have HoT to experience gliding, high level gliding even because it shouldn’t have a charge.
It could be an effective way to get people wanting the full game. Also it would be fun.
Gliding!!!
That is all
I like my own pet names, but I rather liked the Fire Drake I saw the other day named B Smaug
If you want basic looking gear then you need to be looking at low level skins. My main looks like just an average guy in a long coat and peasant shirt. I’m using the under level 10 precision only set shoulder pad, a level 20s set glove and boots. The only high level skin I have is my ascended quiver back piece.
I would love for the OP to point out a game with an ignore option that does not also have a list of the people that have had that option used on them. It is because it serves no purpose to remove it, and therefore even the tiniest of options to keep it outweigh the no reasons to remove it.
This is just how it works in an MMO that has been out for as long as this one.
Just be happy this one lets you use spaces so you can create a surname or a title or a title and a surname. Those spaces are the things that make it possible to use common names over again.
