You should really read some more before creating “zomg i got killed, stomped and i didnt see that evil thief while he was dancing on my dead body” thread. There is an issue in www that some ppl simply arent rendered to your screen and that what happens when thief leaves stealth. But as I said you still can target him by pressing tab. And while doing that u shouldnt sit like a duck, but move. Actually u should allways move.
thier saying stealth is broken like seriously broken your a thief so you cant see yourself and wat your doing to your enemy i had one thief literally come out of stealth backstab bam back into stealth like thier was no reveal debuff at all. he was going in and out of stealth like its nothing trolling 3 of us literally and he downed 2 .. like we really could not even catch this kid. idk wtf happened but thier had to be something going on thier. because for sure i know you get a revealed debuff when u hit some 1 while in stealth.

They never said they “fixed” CnD precast. This is not a bug and therefore there is nothing to be fixed. That might get changed or modified in some way. Oh and we rly need some info to see what classes ppl have in their account to catch all of you trolls.

i would especially point to the part where he baits the thief.
Started playing S/D thief a while ago because D/D lacks utility (at least within the BS setup). S/D rolls the D/D thief almost everytime because of the control it can dish out which can root and render the D/D build useless. This isn’t to say I don’t occasionally get exploded by a D/D thief, but especially once you begin to expect them, they become fairly easy to counter.

There is 159 thread about how newbs get stomped by thieves, move to one of those. As to answer your question thief stealth lasts 3 seconds ( 4 if traited), they can use one attack while stealthed, then they get revealed debuff and cannon get stealthed for 3-4 seconds. In WWW it takes longer to render thief who has just left stealth, becouse of current culling issues, which are being worked on, but you can allways target him with tab when hes out of stealth but still not rendered and 2 shot him if hes a glass cannon build, which probablly he is.
Shadow protector (shadow arts III trait) grants you regeneration for 5 seconds and regeneration should stack in time, at leats thats what boon description says, but when using shadow protector it doesnt stack. Now i know that Shadow rejuvenation is superior in healing, but only if u sit those 3+seconds in stealth, if you use your opener same second as you enter stealth and enter back into stealth straight after revealed is finished you still have 1-2 seconds of regeneration left and new one doesnt stack, neither it gets applied at all. If it was made on purpose then nwm, if not, well this fix could be nice improvement for pve when specing into shadow arts. I myself now took this trait instead of shadow revenuation for general pve.

I have been arguing it some time back, but now I must agree with this. Sometimes it saves my kitten but sometimes it instantly kills me.
You can consider every class/weapon few button spam class/choise then, since every weapon has 5 attacks
And again for those that manage to die from HS spam 100-0 % life u should go play kitty online
If you must know, I’m running 0/30/30/10/0 with a mix of Berserker/Valkyrie armor and a mix of Berserker/Knight/Cavalier accessories, sitting at around 3000 attack, 230% crit damage and 2.7k-ish armor, using S/D + SB. In-slot Shadow Arts and Critical Strikes traits and some utilities are the only things I feel the need to change depending on the situation.
I’m interested in knowing more about this build and how you get those stat numbers. 3k attack and 230% crit damage seems pretty high (I haven’t hit 80 on my Thief yet.) but I am always interested in knowing more about sword/dagger as a weapon combo since it seems to often be neglected.
They’re lying out their teeth. There’s no way they have those numbers with Valkyrie/Knight pieces. I’d like a screenshot.
My build is 20/30/0/20/0 and I have FULL berserker gear w/ ruby orbs on everything in every slot. That’s power/prec/crit dmg twice over and I still only have 2200 power, 2000 prec, 900 toughness, 13.7 HP, 55% crit rate, and 105 crit damage before foods and maintenance oils.
I honestly have no idea how u can have such a low power, i run full carrion condition build where power is secondary status with no deadly arts at all and even with that i have over 2.6 k power. And about crit dmg, he probablly made mistake typing
What I’d suggest in order to make the BS build less OP without nerfing the other builds:
-Remove the ability to precast with steal. It would mean that thieves can still backstab if they time their stealth right but it would require more skill to do it and increase the window for the victim to react a bit without being too long.
-Make HS not auto target the enemy but instead jump straight forward. Again, it would mean that HS would require a bit more skill to use and wouldn’t be as OP as it is now.
-Fix the stealth bug in WvW. Ok, this might hurt all stealth users but it is a bug and should be fixed.As a d/d thief using conditions, created 25th of August, I sometimes worry that I’ll be taken for a fotm build.
Well any off hand dagger build uses precast CnD, not only Basilisk/CnD/Steal/backstab/HS bunnies. I Use P/D and i use that to fool my enemies for example.
Same goes for S/D, precast CnD/Steal/Daze. ANd actually there is no difference for burst build if u precast CnD or not, becouse 9 times out of 10 u will be using basilisk venom, so u can just steal and cnd then.

I’m trying to grasp the meaning of the topic. Die to 2 or 3 players so the class should be nerfed…….. the build you “faceroll” in most cases. Once they are nerfed and you can take all those BS theives, should your build be nerfed since you’re taking out 3 by yourself?
Yes, Nurf Every class so even mobs could faceroll us ! !
When it comes to www usually there are more targets around to cnd that are much easier to use it on then your actual target, other enemys for example that you are not curently blasting at wont be so aware of you and will be easier to CnD on, or mobs which are plenty in www and are perfect for stealthing.
As for bleed time i would go for full 8 seconds ( my testing proved that this is cap for pistol bleed (100 % increase), since it will let u stack more bleeds that way, becouse it will take longer to fall off ( bleeds dont fall of all at once, they fall of stack by stack and bleed time slows it down), what will directly increase preasure on your target.

2 thieves vs 1 thief is insta death or u run away anyway. And most of bachstab heartseeker thieves are just bad … they dont even utilize backstab they just get their nerdrage phase on and spam heartseeker for 600 damage untill their initiative is gone, then use blidning powder or refuge to hide … I have no idea how such thief can kill anyone… no clue. I realize that Dagger mainhand thief is strong, but it needs to learn some positioning and stealthy playstyle, not just spam HS, which is NOT EFFECTIVE AT ALL, if u die to it then its your problem.
Im sorry but you have no idea wat HS spamming does to glass cannon classes even at full health the kitten still hits 4ks+ x.x even on my necro 2.5k armor it still hits for that much i had a thief literally spam HS untill i was downed i couldnt do anything about it because i was fight 2 warriors x.x And another example even on my mes aswell spam spam SPAM SPAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jesus christ do these guys do anything but spam 2 all day let me freakin use haste and spam 2 on you and see how u feel about it x.x lol
Period point blank its a verry verry strong skill no matter which way how you put it and combined with haste will take u from 100% hp to nothing if your not careful but its so quick that you can barely react to that crap D/D GC and heartseeker spamming is strong indeed to next time play the class before you even make a comment like that . Majority of the triats that GC thiefs that go with D/D they take every trait that makes that weapon set even stronger and when your below a certain amount of health they get an even bigger damage boost.
Yes actually I am playing thief myself, just not HS bunny. And no, HS damage at full health doesnt hit you 4 k lol, 2k crits at max. Only when u get down to 50 % health and they are speced into executioner u could see 4-5 k crits. I have been hit by heartseeker for 5 k, but i was at about 25-35 % HP, probablly at the lower end. You say you was downed by heartseeker spaming thief WHEN you was fighting 2 warriors, well here we have a reason of you geting downed by heartseeker spamming thief and its 2x warriors pummeling on your head. How mad you would become if you would have been downed 3d warrior with 100b then ?
Oh and do u realize what other glass cannon AUTO ATTACK does to glass cannon thief ?

Well its clear that Pistol in main hand is a condition weapon and dagger in off hand is a stealth based weapon becouse of CnD and this weapon combination is by far the best stealth combo there is atm. What i would advise you and what im using myself now is to go 30 in shadow arts, 20 in acrobatics and 20 in trickery. You can take 5 points from trickery and put in deadly arts if u want that 10 s poison on steal. But 30 points shadow arts is just too good not to take since it offers you loads of survivability options such as increased stealth time, condition removal every 3 seconds, health regeneration in stealth, aoe blind on stealth and initiative return on stealth skill use, these are probablly the best ones, at least for me. Best heal for this would be hide in shadows, simply becouse it puts you in stealth puting you in position for another sneak attack and cures damaging conditions. I wouldnt go more then 20 in acrobatics and trickery couse 25 point skills in there ( same as in dealy arts) doesnt increase condition damage, only direct damage. From Acrobatics i would recomend fleet shadow ( increases speed while stealthed WHEN in combat) or descent of shadows (priceless in www jumping down from walls or mauntains). Pain responce is great for survival and if u like that mobility u will want vigorous recovery whch gives vigour boon upon healing, that will let u dodge it all
In trickery tree uncatchable is best trait there is, caltrops doesnt stay long, but if enemy is not moving it will stack up some descent cripple time + bleeds. bountifull theft would allso fit your evasive playstyle, since it gives you vigor on steal, so with vigourous recovery you would have vigor for the most of fight. As for utilities I would use caltrops, shadow refuge or spider venom and signet of shadows ( cant play w/o it, gotta love that speed ). Thieves guild is by far best thiefs elite skill together with dagger storm, but direct damage thieves get more from dagger storm then condition thieves imo.
backstab thief has nice gameplay i dunno what are u talking about, allthough heartseeker spamers are terrible in all ways
That poison on steal sounds nice, but latelly i rly got into caltrops a lot lol, so i need that trickster ( 20 in trickery). Its priceless when you spray caltrops under someone legs and he doesnt realize that hes standing in middle of it whole fight lol, here u have burst condition thief lol. Was running blinding powder in place of caltrops at first, but now im trying to minimize the stealth spam from other sources then CnD. Still have Shadow refuge though since too many bandvagons in www lol, but feeling tempted in changing it into spider venom for little more dps and that 33 % heal reduce.

So as topic says im playing P/D condi build that is based around stealth, means i have 30 points in shadow arts, not less. Basically I run around with 0/0/30/20/20 , but i keep putting my points im 25/0/30/15/0 for that little more of direct damage and some venom goodies that come from deadly arts… and then ofc i come back to trickery and the story repeats . So i wanna hear your oppinion, what do u use ? deadly arts or trickery ?

This guy has a signet that heals, and constantly removes conditions while not on cooldown(its not even in use and being useful!)….. can generate healing and protection from pressing 1(has nothing to do with 6, default, but has everything to do with 6, default!), and letting it go on its own……. It’s impossible to even talk with these people, they are here to argue and that’s it.
Comparing one skill of a class(6, default) to one skill of another class(6 default) doesn’t make sense at all, none, there is still 1-5 and 7-0 (default, go ahead and argue key bindings next!)that go with that one skill.

Hmm i tested it with 30 trait in dealy arts and didnt see difference in time, while it should be 3 s ( means double) if u think its affected by that, so i gues it isnt, couse that would be kinda op.

Every class can burst as hard or harder as GC thief does. Yes im a thief and no im not a GC thief and never will play one, but im still defending it. Im running with 21.5 k hp in www and engineer managed to burst me down to 2 k hp or so in 2 seconds, no stealth required. No thief managed to do that on me yet. So iIsay … NURF engineers too, couse they can burst. But w8 a seconds … I have witnessed glass warrior doing same on me in mass pvp when i simply didnt see him comming, mesmer too and a ranger ( yes a ranger, class so broken it does no damage at all ( well apparently it does) ). Well just nurf them all then. I bet most of ppl crying about geting 1 shot by thieves dont even have single piece of exotics on them and go full glass cannon, couse doing damage ( which they dont do couse the ydont have the good enough gear) is cool

Appearently u didnt, becouse there is no way u can hit 600 with heartseeker if u use it right. or you are that thief that starts the fight with heartseeker ? And i’ve seen lots of them. Or maybe consider upgrading your Fine gear to at least rare ?
Keybinds will ALLWAYS be superior to clicking, Allways. Reason behind that is mouse steering, looking around and in some cases targeting. Every time you click a skill with your mouse you dont have complete control of your character, no matter how fast u do it. And if u use A,D to turn while clicking utilities with mouse then im at lost of words
. However i notice that many ppl do that and they are easy kills
Gw 2 have only 5 utility skills to keybind and learn, thats not hard at all… take wow for example … where u have to activelly manage 25-30 keybinds.

2x agony sigils (20%), 3x pairs of bleed runes (centaur, afflicted, krait – 45%), 40% condi time food. Thats 105 % off bleed time, that 5 % is wasted, it gives u 8 ticks of bleed when 1 stack is applied, but im not sure if its the case when u have multiple stacks of bleeds on, since its > then 1 tick a second then, becouse bleed stacking increases its intensity, means u get more then 1 tick a second.

Also, if you are going solo and crying about 1v1’s in WvW. Then you are bad and making worse decisions. Sorry, has to be said. WvW is about small and large groups working together dynamically to take the map. Not Rambo running around and killing the Sheriff’s Department in Hope, Washington.
Protip: going in WvW solo, you;re going to have a bad time. (especially against thieves)
So why are there so many thieves running around apparently able to play Rambo? Lots and lots of thieves running around solo. Why is that? Why is that fair?

ok so i did more practical ( allthough obvious
) testing, I tested how many ticks can 1 stack of bleed do ( with 9.2 s theoretical bleed time) and it was 8 ticks. So my gues is that max bleed durations is +100 %, thats exactly 8 seconds and there is 0 point in going more then this.
Yea the runes dont show up on tooltip but thats not the problem, the problem is that bleed time doesnt go past 7 seconds even with all these time stacking options . I have no problems with curent bleed time, p/d thieves offer low dps, but they make it up in stealth and survival. Just i would like to know IF there is a bleed time cap for pistol, which apparently is, how long is it exactly, so i can work around my build with that. Since bleed time actually lets u stack higher numbers of bleeds more easilly, which leads to higher dps.
So im running p/d condition build and have this issue. Whatever I do i cant get my bleed timer over 7 seconds. I use 2x sigils of agony on weapons, 2x krait, 2x afflicted and 2x centaur runes on armor), + Im testing it with 30 in deadly arts now just for higher numbers in bleed time. So acording to my calculations my bleed time should be: (I calculate all % from base pistol bleed time wich is 4 seconds)
4 s+0.8s (from sigils 2×0.4s)1.8s (from runes 3×0.6s)1.6s (from 40% condi food)+1.2 (30 % from 30 in deadly arts) =9.4 s (skill description says 7.5, but thats becouse rune bleed time doesnt reflect on skill description, tested it w/o food and deadly arts, I get more bleed time on targets, then it says. So my gues and question … is there a cap on bleed time comming from pistol attacks ?
Dont you think its pretty much awesome that we have all the siege equipment that we do ( and a trabuchet !!!) allready ?> while as far as i know no any other game has such thing, not even the idea of it. Allthough, some race specific sieges, like laser canons and stuff, would be awesome in the future.

Im so OP with culling in place. I have zomg 4 second stealth and after it finishes im still invisible, becouse im not yet rendered to ypur screen ! Oh but w8, those warriors, engineers, rangers, {insert other classes here] are allso invisible most of the fight, getting kills becouse there are simply too many ppl in one spot to render all of them. But im still OP becouse of how culling works. Oh w8, Im not, I actually have to use stealth to be able to use my opener, no matter that im invisible either way. Thats it, rerolling warrior so i can be invisible and use my 10 k swings which does aoe damage as well, yay.

Not true. There’s no perma-stealth while also doing damage. Perma-stealth outside of attacking people is attainable, if not very useful.
As I said, he can time his CnD, use all stealth utilities and infusion,meld with shadows, but he will not be doing damage while doing it, juts keeping himself alive. And if someone decides to troll u by landing perfect CnD on you to keep himself stealthed and you ( not refering to you, but to anyone
) can not counter that by spaming some meele auto attacks or landing some aoe, then theres no hope for such a player lol. As someone somehwere said – If hes invisible, doesnt mean he aint there, so can still slap him by predicting his moves. IF hes a glass cannon 1 and 2 skill masher, you simply count to 3 you know when he will attack …
U know its funny how thiefs cry that they are broken in some way leaving them weaker then intended, while others cry that thieves are completally OP and impossible to counter. Well this leaves me with just one conclussion: You all are full of kitten, just play the game as it is, couse its just fine.
He probablly cloaked on someone else. Even rabbits work for that if there wasnt any other enemys around or he used blinding powder, however he cant do that permenatelly and if hes doing just that, well he aint killing you at the momment, and he will run out of initiative or blow all his stealth cooldowns that way, leaving vulnurable.
There is no perma invisibility. After opening on you ( if he opens ofc) he cant use any stealth ability at all for about 3 seconds. And he can get close to perma invisibility by perfectly timing CnD, but he must be traited for that, meaning he loses his damage potential. None of glass cannons ( 90 % of thiefs ) use those traits.
Stealth takes 3-4 seconds as it is, stop crying. The only issue with it is culling. But that doesnt happen all the time. And for those that cry about thiefs CnD/steal/Bs combo paired with basilisk wenom – bind your evade button somwhere, that rly helps. And stop running glass cannon builds for pvp. Im a thief and glass cannon thief dont have enough burst to kill me even if he suceeded landing basilisk venom on me, which shouldnt happen at all if you pay attention.
Update your god kitten gear, there are plenty cheap stuff in Trade house and you are able to upgrade your geare every 5 levels(blue /green stuff) till 35, then every 15 (rare gear) levels 35-80, if not u doing smth very wrong.
IF its not hardvare issure, then its l2p issue. I myself was used to hit the button couple times, specially if im in trouble and not rly calm at that moment

Apart from hit&run backstab build,there are some steady stealth based builds,who doesn’t just run away,when things get hairy,but stay close and fight(with good success,from my perspective).Isn’t the run-away part one of the things that many people complain about the thief?Well,some of us don’t run…And this trait alone,this buff is responsible for 80-90% of my deaths.I could give u many example how it kills me(from sudden big attacks while casting C&D,while chanelling Dagger Storm e.t.c)If i could remove it,i would do it right away….
