found a bug that needs to be addressed and this is coming from a thief so you others thieves I don’t want to hear no QQing when a guardian has his aegis block thief can attack in stealth removed the aegis block and still not be unstealthed this also applies to all other block / invlun skills if the damage is not there stealth is not removed I think this should be fixed heres proof…
What you probablly dont know is how it looks from guardian eyes. He gets a warning typed in huge letters “BLOCKED”. So guardian thinks " Hmm there is noone around hiting me and i just blocked something, must be thief stabbing me!" Then he has 2 options:
a) Counter that by dodging, turning around and lowering backstab damage or using any damage negating skills.
b) dont pay attention and probablly die.

In the case of the warrior or the ranger, it wasn’t dagger storm that messed them up. It was them shooting. They killed themselves. Daggerstorm reflects all projectiles. Had the warrior or ranger not range attacked me, it wouldn’t have done too much.
This. Dagger storm on itself as a damage tool is a lottery. Multipple times i have used dagger storm like 100-200 range from enemy and it didnt even hit once (I know lol). It is used for stability+reflect projectiles. And many ppl are not aware of that yet, good for us.

No, Im askin if its possible to do all story line quests w/o any extra leveling. That would end up in character being many levels lower then story quests it would be doing. For example if level 30 character could enter lvl 70 quest ( with help ofc).

Viable as staff ele and warrior. You don’t pick shadow arts because pvp is about capping points and you can’t cap while being invisible. You can’t defend node and you will have trouble killing bunkers.
Like I play spvp so I can cap/defend nodes… I play it to kill clueless glass cannon thieves spamming 222222 and thinking that they are bursting.

its a dagger/pistol build that runs decent dmg but not super high and runs traits in crit…shadow arts…and acrobatics. theres plenty of it you can read. if he was going in and out like you say they he was a hacker. you cfan only go back invis AFTER 4 seconds of being visible…..this being called the revealed debuff (you only get this if u leave the full duration of invisbility early…aka ATTACK) so the trick is….in any pvp…BRING CC SKILLS
mesmer phantasm build can beat d/p too. just make sure you time your dodges about 2.5 secs after they go invis. you will get used to when they attack and where they like to go. it usually the same with most thieves.

No not skip, simply complete every quest from 1 to 80 ( exept last one). Lvl 80 exotic geared player with good build could take on those mobs even if its 2x or more. Im not leveling, im lvl 80 long time allready and have my story completed 100 %. I just want commando skins that are obtainable only via last story quests and I ( DUMB kitten!) have deleted

I do know that high levels get scaled down, but i allso know that lvl 80 exotic geared scaled down to lvl 30 player > actual lvl 30 player by A LOT. All im interested if it possible to enter high level quest instance by a low lvl player. You see, I want commando armors that are obtainable from few 70-80 lvl quests but dont rly want to level new character so high
So i was wondering, is it possible to rush through personal story quests while being low level ? with a high lvl help ofc. Or story quests has some level requirement to be able to enter instance ?

If you’re focusing on bleed damage by detonating your clusters, then why are you going down the DA and CS trees?The formula for bleed damage is:
(0.05 * Condition Damage + 0.5 * Level + 2.5) per stack per secondIt doesn’t use power and bleeds can’t crit, so those two trees are only helping your auto attack damage. Trickery is where you want to be for condition damage.
If you wasnt aware cluster bombs does direct damage and bleeds. Blowing it up will not only add 3 bleeds instead of 1, but allso spread the damage and will help signet of malice do its job better. Physical damage build > condition damage build for clusterbombing. Trickery is not where you want to be for condition damage, condition gear is where you want to be for that, couse bigest part of it comes from gear, not from traits.

You do realize, you could probably kill a champion with the right build by wearing full zerk, stealing to them and just spam CnDCnDCnDCnDCnDCnDCnDCnD…
No need to time anything, just hammer the snot out of that ‘5’ key till he’s dead.It would require an infinite initiative hack …
base: 1 point of initiative every 1.33 seconds, 3 points in 4 seconds,7.5 points in 10 seconds.
patience: 1 initiative every 3 seconds while in stealth -> 3.3 points in 10 seconds.
quick recovery+infiltrators signet: +3 in 10 seconds.
total: ~14 initiative in 10 seconds.CnD costs 6 initiative.
Whenever you use CnC, you get 2 initiative back(infusion) and have a 20% chance to get 1 initiative back(hidden killer+opportunist), making the total costs 3.8.
Without revealed, you can use 3 and a half CnD in 10 seconds, giving you 14 seconds of stealth, in other words 140% uptime.
q.e.d.
Pushing a buton every 4 seconds is not a spamming, ant that way you can keep your initiative up and if you think of it as a good damage i got nothing else to say

It’s actually a huge difference. When I first played my thief after the change it felt clunky and unnatural. It had nothing to do with it being ‘different’ either, the playstyle had no natural flow. And, no amount of retraining muscle memory will replace a flowing playstyle now gone.
If the possibly good news becomes actual good news I will be very happy.

I play solo almost exclusively. I fight random people while running around taking supply camps/caravans/guard posts.
I’ve tried several other builds but this one seemed to provide the best damage/defense ratio I could find using D/P.
I am currently running S/D as second set but that may change to short bow soon.
The fluidity of the D/P play style is much better than D/D post patch and the blind helps with being exposed for the extra second.
I used patience to improve my init regen instead of going for the extra 3 init which would have decreased over all dps or survivability.
Just wanted to share is all…
EDIT: Wanted to mention that without having the blind powder. I could not take a camp solo. After the nerf D/D + S/D could not solo a camp. You need X/P as balanced thief.
Im still soloing camps easy with D/D and S/D or SB…

I think people have gotten used to stealth ocurring so very frequently both in attack and defense. I wonder does this particular problem affect heavily those who use D/D?
Yes it affect the most those who use meele x/d setups and shadow arts. The biggest problem with last refuge is that you cant monitor its cooldown. Stoping yourself from CnD at emergency becouse last refuge MIGHT be ready to use may lead to another failure.

Yes, it would. Spamming HS is done by two kinds of people; trolls and those that don’t know better. This guy obviously wanted to improve. Just help, why not. Gives thieves a slightly less bad rep.
The trolls are the ones that bug me. Not because it’s no fun to laugh at them, but because they incite others to call all thieves noobs. Off course, those others also fall into the same two categories as I previously mentioned, but it is annoying. You can kitten them without using 2 once, they still spam l2p.

Had a 22222 thief attack my P/D once in wvw. I just CnD’d and shot him in the back as he leapt off into the distance. =D

I quite like the trait. I don’t see a problem with it, and have not experienced a problem with it. If anyone wants to enlighten me, please do so. Though, the reason I might not have problems is because I’m not a stealth spamming Thief — I use Evades.
Regardless, what are the problems you are having with it?
The problem is that thief stealth is the primary defensive mechanic for the class. Even if you’re a p/p unload spamming build (which, by the way, can be countered in 12 different ways by 12 different things that people hardly even have to try to do) you still use stealth as a panic button. When your health drops below 25%, you’ll probably be in a fight, or on top of people, and pressing buttons to get out. If something spikes you below 25%, it is highly likely you’ll be pressing buttons already for whatever you were doing. In either of these situations, last refuge will simply cause you to lose your ability to stealth, as the button pressing that happened before last refuge triggered will have instantly revealed you.
And 99 % of time when u use x/d that button is CnD.
it works fine for me, and really turn into life saver a lot of times.
IF you dont use X/D stealth based build then yeah .. it works fine for you.

I’ve noticed fighting experienced people that they usually have a good idea of where you are in stealth. They don’t need a channelled attack to track you.
You can always restealth after the channel ends if you wanted to. Also, don’t forget that even though the channelled attack is tracking you, your opponent still needs to reselect your toon after you come out of stealth to target you again.
I would rather ANet fix the wonky pathing of Flanking Strike and get rid of some useless skills that nobody uses, like Vital Shot (Pistol 2) and Dancing Dagger (Dagger 4).

lol are you serious? Have you actually played p/d before the nerf for a good bit? because it is awkward as hell for me now with the extra second on reveal. I use to be able to play aggressively with p/d but now I’m tripping on a lot of CnD. VERY LOW? not really, the dps can be decently high once you stack some bleeds. Builds are still viable, just has less damage in the long run now. You can use foods in sPvP too? hmm, odd.
And the chain was this: CnD>Sneak Attack>2 auto. Rinse, repeat, also throw some utilities in there as well, like caltrops. Now: it’s CnD>Sneak Attack>3 auto. That extra auto provides quite a window to get CC-ed.

at the moment i just do another sec of #1 chain whilst positioning myself better for the CnD Backstab…

Well if i can do it in.. you can too.. key is practice, CnD -> BS -> 4x #1 repeat.. get that ingrained in your head and you wont even need to pay attention anymore.
You don’t have to believe me, but as i said in other threads i can and will work around the extra second..
I have a hard time believing adjusting timing an additional second is really as complicated as some Thief players are making it out to be.
To be perfectly honest, if the additional second to revealed has really trashed the Thief as a class for some of you guys, then maybe you weren’t as good with the class as you imagined you were.
I’m personally more of a fan of Shortbow than I am of dual daggers, the latter set being used exclusively for a SoP/SU CS trait build burst. As such, the additional second to revealed was utterly inconsequential as I’ve learned how to escape without stealth.
Harass with SB.
Identify target (usually low-hp classes or classes that aren’t usually known for effective bunker builds, i.e. Target the weak.)
Flank with Shadowstep -> CnD -> Steal + AS + SS -> BS -> Shadow Recall -> WS to SB and CB the downed player as allies attempt to res.
Turns 1 downed player into 3 pretty easily and consistently.Granted, this is all WvW-based experience.
Granted that u are running full glass cannon build, no balanced build ( speaking of gear and traits) will kill anyone in single burst, neither cluster bombs will be so effective, unless thats other full glass thief with no stun breaker… or upleveled lvl 6 newbie. So you are stuck for 4 seconds which is full aa chain and 1-2 more hits before you can stealth again. With removed culling now its more then enough time for everyone including their grandma to take a bus, come to battle spot and kill you.

No, Basilisk is a stun not a daze. It’d be stupid to turn someone into stone, into a stone statue that can still move.
The problem was that if you stun breaked out of Basilisk, you still were unable to move or dodge for the full duration because of a hidden immobilize effect that wasn’t removed.
And thank God they finally fixed this. As a thief, if another thief would jump me with Basilisk, I would just Shadowstep away. Avoiding the backstab, however, not being able to dodge the inevitable HS spam by noobs that would follow it.
Now I can get out of the backstab setup, dodge the HS, without having to blow my Shadow Return, and instead set them up for the backstab myself.
Where I don’t condone HS spam…how can they be noobs if they know they can spam HS and you can’t avoid it? Sounds like a solid game plan…lol
Becouse most of them will continue Heartseeking untill they run out of initiative no matter where u at
. I have seen that plenty times when they perform their Cnd steal BS combo and start spamming Heartseeker untill burn out. They literally fly through field w/o target couse Im allready stealthed and circle around for backstab.
I tested the P/D build for a few hours now in sPvP, and the damage nerf is pretty big. It’s hard to be called a viable build any more really..
I dont see the big damage nerf here … Instead of 3 vital shots, now you have to shoot 4 between CnD. With 100% bleed time it keeps your bleeds stacked up. P/D got affected the least from stealth builds. D/D basilisk mug cnd bs hshshs didnt got affected at all…
Mug’s greatest value/threat is in cheesy glass cannon burst builds. Outside of those builds, it’s not all that dangerous.
With 4s revealed + culling removal, players running those cheesy burst builds are pretty much free kills.
Increases reveal does not touch those cheesy mug burst builds. However it does kick right to the balls for stealth builds.
Ps.: Do not call 25/30/0/0/15 or 30/30/0/0/10 d/d a stealth build, couse it aint.
