Beta time set up for NA players...

Oke so according to official info the time of beta is set up for NA players. Why? In CEST it is 20:30 – 22:30, 00:30-2:30, 4:30-6:30. Emmm…Since it is Tue a lot of ppl have jobs etc. so how are they supposed to sit whole night to play beta? For example me, I have to get up at 6. am so I go sleep at 21-22. Cos of it I won’t be able to play beta much and all hours spend to farm portal are wasted now.
Seriously Anet stop trolling EU players. Or make this beta for NA only and set up next for EU only. Cos why do we( EU players) have to be bullied by ur policy towards NA players and time frames?
I understand that it is due to time of work of ur office that is in NA, but for real, can’t u consider both regions when releasing something that is set up for both regions up?

Like every 20 mins my whole guild and map is dcing to character selection. Probably caused by newest patch. Do u have same problems? I know some have all sides as 1 side tho, but something like those dcs? It is EU T2.

are people hoping by spreading false information and rumors as if it is fact that they will troll ANET into releasing hard data? Ok, well good luck with that.

It is policy for them to not release any specifics but there have been numerous red posts over the years discounting some the more wild and silly ideas. Whatever the number is, it is the same for all sides and it can be changed as needed.

If a WvW population cap is giving you problems then it might be time to start researching a lower tier world to hang out in. It is only going to get worse with HoT.

Ye, but unfortunatly not enough gold to do that ^^ and it isn’t my bad that anet is lowering cap to hold their cheap servers up – it is still laggy tho. Also clear info would help to count how many guilds can get in and put up some spreadsheets. Also it was advertised as “huge battles” actually now WvW is more like small scale battles due to a lot of restrictions like lower cap.

Well cap has been originally 120 for green, 100 for red and 80 for blue – info gathered by players as they went into 1 borderland and counted curing very early time – as I rememebr from reddit it was 3-4 am. CET. After tons of “nerfs” we have around 60-70 now. How I know that? 1. of all we counted it and the result was 60 at spawn with queue add some roamers and it is 60-70. 2. only 2( 20-30 man) guilds get into map now. 3. on reset night we had 86 ppl at ts3, with queue of 20+ for a map and no guild raiding, no1 roaming( at last we didn’t see any other than ours cap for whole night), add some pugs without ts3( not many tho, cos of many ways to check that out, but it is server’s way to check it out so I won’t type it here) and this again gives u 60 – 70.

Oke so new expansion is P2W…
Emmm… nope? Let’s check out confirmed stuff

  • Desert map will swap with Alpine Borderland so yeah WvW map included.
  • New traits also.
  • Same goes for skins from HoT – u will be able to buy em at TP!
  • Achivement to earn precursor
  • Masteries for old content like fractals etc.
  • WvW’s shield enginee – new siege machine

The stuff u are buying:

  • Revenant class
  • New maps, dungs and some account skins
  • Elite specs – not such op tho if u look at traits and skills for mesmer for example.
  • New masteries like glider, that will be only usable in HoT maps!
  • Learning languages of HoT races

Now not confirmed to be free or buy stuff:

  • Stronghold
  • Guildhalls
  • Ways to obtain new mats that come into game with HoT
  • New Legendaries
  • New monsters – will they appear in normal world? Or HoT only?
  • Defiance – do old bosses get it too? Or only HoT bosses?

Definition of P2W that mmo gamers know: P2W is a stuff u obtain for real money and that is much more powerfull than best in game items / almost best items. Also it is about doing much more dungs / raids / and other daily stuff for some real money.

In GW2 here are some examples how P2W would look: No more gold -> gems. 3x More tokens from dungs if u get VIP for gems ofcourse. Legendary armor only from TP that will be by 130% of Ascended. WvW queue priority. Access to specials items that evolve ur skills for some amount of gems etc. etc.

So expansion that don’t even unbalance game like WoW’s ones( higher lvl cap, better items etc.) isn’t big deal. Tbh it just gives u more cosmetic changes like masteries or new specializations and some new stuff to do like new maps.

Friday 15.05.2015 21:14 CET, FSP borderland, around 100 ppl, 3k-8k ms. And every fight similar ping. 120 Mb/s according to deal with isp and speedtest.net. Every online soft off except GW2.

ps. EB was unplayable for some time. And I know it is reset, yet this ping is ridiculous.

I was thinking … maybe? u do not even need to worry about people picking a faction

if u group guilds with alliances

maybe instead of faction pride- have guild pride

have a system focused around guilds and there alliances and than group them in to factions

maybe have a option so u can say u r at war with a guild so u dont end up on there team

But it looks like a prelude to GvG which isn’t and won’t be supported by Anet. They said clearly that won’t evolve Guils vs Guild in any way and won’t base / balance WvW by guilds. Also u miss some stuff about pugs. They will still unbalance it cos a lot of players play WvW without guilds – so called pugs.

Baseless assumption. the tier I’m in (t7) is equally balanced. You’d be surprised how many people enjoy sieging up and defending a tower/keep

I’m german. I play in EU. RoS is a international server. while I speak german within my guild occasionally, I don’t have issues with communicating in english. German communities within a faction can still be a thing. German guilds will definitively stay being a thing. The same goes to other languages. Also you can use the language filter to get rid of foreign “spam” if you prefer this.

I wish I could but it don’t work at WvW ^^ I still see some germans typing etc. but with alliances it will be plagues. Also what when 30% of map will be German speaking and 70% English speaking and comm form German side speaking and leading in german? What then? Ignore him and get own english speaking comm with less ppl than enemy comm? Pretty clever and balanced.

Other factions can and will do so as well. It’s called strategy. and with the proposed mega-communities, such actions can be dealt quickly with. I’d go so far to not even call it abuse, but multi-dimensional push^^

Yet some side will still have a lot of players when compare to others ^^ and multi push? Who will care about points? xD Rewards aren’t worth it – those u suggested, cos they will earn much more by rolling lower number zergs with their blob. Also u said that other will do that too( taxing ppl to unbalnace maps). I can type same about current gamemode. Ppl can just swap to sfr and play there with numbers. No1 is holding them form doing it.

there is no PPT anymore. If a alliance outnumbers the others, they will find mostly empty-maps, filled with players from their side, while the alliance with 2nd inferior numbers will face 1v1 situations in equally filled maps or, like the 3rd inferior alliance, equally balanced maps.
This automatically will force people out of over-stacked factions because else they can have nothing but the afk-game.

So u want to throw away some gamestyle(ppt) from players right? And what will be deal with upgrading keeps? No ppt, no need to defend, no need to cap, WvW won’t be WvW anymore but more open field arena.

Well ppl won’t quit this alliance, cos of free win every time due to full coverage at any map ^^ They won’t have afk game aswell, just ktrain and jump form 1 overflow to other just to roll zergs there, liek ti is now with SFR.

Also only 2 guilds get in now and queue pop up, 2 guilds with 20-28 members. Add some pugs – not many tho, this give u 60-70. Go into topic I posted and check out eralier, there was a lot of cap reduction. Or just count like we did at our border at 3 am. – probably missed 2-3 roamers – doupt it tho cos nothing was capped for like 10 mins and we had queue. As we counted it was 67 of us – blue side alpine borderland.

Nope, it can be fixed by not implementing alliances and look above, no way to get rid of language diffrence Unless u want to lose every fight due to lower numbers of players. That is the problem, They can ofcourse make it English only and punish with chat ban for some time for using other language but then…it won’t work ^^

I don’t really know hwy u want ot change something. Ppl want to play in blobs then they go T1-2. If they want to play zergs they go into silver, if they want roam they go bronze. Simple sollution.

This will unbalanace WvW even more and for example players / comms form EB won’t have any chances to get rid of it. Also Bloodlust was implemented due to removing of orbs of power that had amount of buffs u wrote and were deleted to balance WvW, now u basically want to ruin it and make servers like SFR with 24h cover much more op.

Ehhh next same topic! U have about 100 of them( alliances, fractions etc.) at forum since 2014. Again, this won’t work due to issues with community, hardware etc.

  • Where will server’s loyalty go?
  • Much more spies
  • All pug players will still badwagon 1 side just for a sake of easy wins with numbers( like they do with SFR now) and ktrains.
  • Again most major problem are languages for EU servers.
  • Abuse of /join map ssytem u wrote about by adding someone to some 1 time guild and bringing to their map just to outnumber enemy ^^
  • Abuse of PPT when some alliance get 4x number of players of other alliance( yes it can be balanced by capping for example green alliance till blue and red fill up, but ppl will just w8 with chosing side to have asy wins ^^ also it can;t be capped with “A player chooses a Faction when he first logs into WvW” cos player won;t be able to play untill he get into alliance – which is full, but his friends / guild is tehre.)

  • What I mentioned earlier, ktrains, ktrains, ktrains all around.

Same geos for commanders that like to play with their own hard players and don’t want some bronze players( no offence tho, but I was in bronze and I know lvl of players there, some roamers are worth to mention[ from Vabbi or RoS], but rest don’t even know what blasts are).

Well u have plenty of ways to deal with it. Like at EoTM u can all join at once and get throwed into overflow with opposite guild – according to RNG some should land in 1. instance, some in 8. etc., then taxi ppl in. U can also just taxi enemy leader to ur instance and then taxi ppl in.

It has been 2 months since this problem. Can u finally release cap and fix it without lowering it? Or allow free transfer to go somewhere else instead of over queued server. As for lag it still occur – at last for EU players I know and I play with – sometimes even comm get dc. This happens to me aswell – durign restets or just a normal 20 v 20 fights – I know it is not my bad cos of: 120 Mb/s connection, all greedy software disabled etc. yet I get dcs and lag spikes it isn’t such bad at it was in march tho, but how it was for whole 2014. Worst problem with lower cap due to lag fix is that 2 guilds get almost all spots( I think it is about 60-70 now) and nothing is left for defenders i.e. ppt players that want to cap and earn points for their server. About 3 days ago comm( blue one so it is open raid not guild raid) had 3 ppl with him and 30 at ts, those 30 were w8ing in queues cos 2 guilds took all spots before public raid was up. Ofcourse cos of that we lost whole border( including wped garri) and the rage of ppt players towards gvgers was up( look screen, should it be like this?). So please since lag isn’t such bad as it was can u finally release cap? Ofcourse if cos of that lag won’t get back…Personally I bet it will, cos I didn’t see any info about fixing it / buying new, better servers.

Any selection based on ranks/BoH, time spent in wvw/eotm will give a group of players with biased view on the test map.

The selection should be random.

Ye, but if they do it “random like” a lot of pve players will get into map and they won’t test anything wvw related. That is why i suggested only WvW ways to get beta. Same like for PvE beta u can only get it by playing PvE not WvW to let PvErs test it out and not some pvp / wvw players.

You mean that SW grind that anyone could do? WvWers were given just as same chance there as pvers. Anyone who subscribed to the newletter got a chance at getting to first stress test, pvp test was open to all.

Playing wvw doesn’t warrant special testing skills. Most gw2 players stepped to wvw at least once, where would you draw the line “real wvwer” or pver? Ranks? You realise that high ranks are often earned by farming in eotm or zerging, it’s pve in another form.

I have a high rank and still I think the selection should be random.

Well it is easy to ask few questions about WvW that only wvwers wil lanswer. Still with rank system they will get less not WvW oriented beta testers.

Someone clearly didnt think this through…

OS as a megaserver would probably kill GvG or at the very least make it so complicated people would just GvG in normal WvW instead, filling those maps.

How do you know that two guilds from different servers are going to end up in the same instance? You have no way of knowing. Just look at EoTM now. Can you say to a guild in WvW “hey meet us in EoTM and we do GvG!”. Uh… no. You’d have to do extremely fancy instance hopping including joining party with the enemy guild.

Emmm…taxi? If all ppl from some guild join they will land in same instance as other, enemy guild. U can also taxi em with party so I don’t see any problem.

So far OS has been the path of least resistance – pretty much zero chance for queues and everyone end up in the same instance. Its easy to make a server schedule so guilds know when not to go there. Please dont ruin that.

Yes that is true, BUT actually queue pop up when 2 guilds go there cos of unknown cap at this map^^. Also u should include UD farmers, puzzle jumpers etc. so it is sometimes heavy queued. The point of OP is only 1 arena, what if 2 guilds go there and want to fight? Not a single schedule can help with 8 guilds at server aswell.

I can only agree to OS being made a megaserver if they remove the arena from it and keep it puzzle only. This would of course require a new special WvW map – a gigantic huge colosseum with really nothing else in it, where servers can go for GvGs.

That is what whole GvG community want and scream at forums for almost 3 years, yet Anet won’t support current GvG so no chances for that( it is very lucky that we at last got 1 arena at OS tho…).

  • I think one of the ways to count someone towards WvW population is WXP rank, like ppl with 100+ are counted and are set by system as WvW population.
  • The other way is to check out time that player spend at WvW.
  • Same like previous but with WvW kills / objectives captured.

An example with made up numbers:

  • Priory: 950 players
    Order: 1000 players
    Vigil: 825 players
  • Assuming 100 player cap on each map that would mean there are 8 open maps that are being scored.

Cap is 60-70 now tbh. 8 open maps that will be scored so others wouldn’t get ANY rewards, what will be the point to play WvW?

Well using your cap numbers there would be 12 or 13 maps open. It just depends on the cap. Only the last map would have the amended scoring.

  • The last (9th) map would have:
    100 Order
    100 Priory
    25 Vigil
  • The remaining 100 Order and 50 Priory players are in a queue.

Ye so instead of queue fix we will get even bigger queues

  • Presuming Anet could display some sort of information about the state of the queue and population of the last map, the Order and Priory players in queue could switch to toons that play for Vigil and 75 of them would be able to get into the 9th map. This map would now start contributing to the score and give rewards.

What will be the point of fighting at some side? xD Ppl will just swap to the winning side and fight there instead of losing with free order swap :P and if they won’t get in they will just queue themselfs leading to even bigger unbalance.

Ye it is just fantasy cos something liek that have too many misstakes to deal with and won’t happen due to community issues and players attitude to win and get something from playing( no1 volounteer to fight, waste time and get nothing) WvW.

Queues will be small because people will switch toons to go to the lowest populated alliance. And people will not switch to the winning side because then they just have to sit in queue.

Well yeah guilds might be able to swap orders, but will they have someone to fight then? I mean guilds, not blob / pug zerg. Also issue that i put up there still stays, if some guild don’t get into it’s map they will just hold spots and w8 till their guild’s map will lose some players to fast taxi there, leaving outnumbered problem that will be even worse than it is now( let’s say that 15 guilds play green side, and 12 maps is created, add pugs and small guilds here, how will they be able to group up at 1 map when according to overflow rules ppl will be throwen randomly. And if it won;t be random but with the rule who is faster get in, still some will get into 1. map, some to 8. map etc and with 15+ guilds u won’t be able to get into some conclusion).

Still as I see now ppl will even w8 in queues to be winners – look how over sieged is SFR cos ppl want to get there and win win win by numbers. And with free trasnfer they will swap sides every possible moment if this side will be winning. Or just to spy – another problem of WvW, will be even worse. Same goes for supply trolling etc just to let ur main side win. Also look at SFR now. Ppl stay in loooong queues there to win, otherwise they will transfer. Same will happen to orders

U talk about all this stuff but still u didn’t answer me what will be the point to play WvW after those changes?, since server won’t get up in ladder so the only point will be fights while ppt will be pointless, cos why to tryhard with points when this gives u nothing except 3 more WvW chests – and here somes 1 more small thing, how it will determained how many chests u get( 3. place, 2. place, 1. place)? Since according to previous comments in this post every character will have it’s own order.

Ehhhh I need to put my few words here…

  • A single alliance having people in queue would not be enough to open a new map. They would just have to wait in queue – or with the way the OP’s idea works, switch to a toon of another alliance and play on that.

So just let ppl stuck in over long queues( cos of ppl queued form ALL servers) and if they get into some map they won’t be able to play with their guild so they will stay there, hold spot and w8 till their guild’s overflow get empty…that is logical.

  • The last map to open would not contribute to the score. No rewards would be gained. No Karma, Gold, WxP, XP, etc. This is to prevent K-training. All this would apply unless the population is in relative balance or unless its the only open map.

Why? Cos some alliances don’t get enough ppl other should suffer?…another logical point.

  • This would ensure even battles on all but the last map. And the last map could be a fight haven, dueling ground, etc.

U know that fighter need to earn some gold too right? Builds and consumables cos ta bit, and ppl keep draining money from them. Also what if some guy get into last map by rng? He won’t get points, gold etc. even if he is legit player that got into wrong map? Some abuse of players rights here :P

It is too early to say something will be p2w. Yes elite specializations right now looks op, cos it is something new to us. I bet there are counter mechanics against them. Yet it might be true that they will be very good at start to convice more ppl to buy HoT – it is just a speculation tho. Looking back here is 1 possible option. They might give elite specs to everyone like they did with LS and doing with WvW Desert map. It will shut down some hate etc. and show that Anet really care about their players, but then what will be the point of buying expansion?( For pvp and wvw players that don’t care about pve content).

Everyone can have characters in any order so your guild can decide what order to represent any time and get all friends playing together.

If a Commander can not speak the language of the majority of his troops then he should not be a Commander at that moment.

It is really a simple and clean idea. The best.

…Ye but what if guild have specific set-up or/ and everyone have only 1 character atm representing 1 order? What then? They won’t be able to play together according to ur words. So German commanders won’t have chance to lead? Since majority of EU are English speaking players so from simple probability claculation they will always have around 20% speaking German and according to ur words they wouldn;t be able to lead.

This idea is bad basing on those 2 simple points i wrote up( unbalance of orders – bandawgoning it like overgrown at EoTM and no support for languages varienty. Also I should add no support for guild / friends gaming here), cos there is no other way to sort EU players than specific langauge servers or setting English as default language and not letting nayone speak other language ^^ Also It won’t support guild / friends gamestyle so won’t work in community game like gw2.

Everything is very easy to fix.

People can group by country/language, use country/language TS channel, etc.

Looks like u still didn’t get my point. What happen when German speaking comm will want to lead but majority of pugs will be English speaking? – according to overflow rules u get put into map randomly – While he will be able to only speak German. THat is the problem with multilanguages and the point we have other servers. Not everyone in EU speak English or want to lead in this langauge, yet with order system they will be forced to do it or lead in their langauge without any1 understanding it.

If one side/order reaches max number then people can only join the other 2 orders per map.

Emmm so If I take order of whispers and it will be full at map I wouldn’t be able to join them? And to join my friends and guild? Something is wrong here dude, cos with this system ppl wouldn’t be able to raid with their guilds ^^ and if it will be set up by something like this " Order of Vigils is full, u have to join other order" ppl wouldn’t be able to play with friends / guilds either. Also as I know a lot of ppl w8 and spam transfer to get into full servers, same will happen with orders – ppl will just w8 till someone join other orders and then they will jump into winning 1 so unbalance will continue

Concerning the different EU languages, we can have different chapters inside the same order…like in real life.

Players can organize themselves by language, country, etc….but they still represent an order.

Simple and clean.

We have something like that, it is called guilds :P What i wrote about was random leading. Let’s say that German speaking comm want to lead, but majority is English speaking, yet he speaks German only, what will happen? Also what to do with other problem that I described in previous comment? I mean all servers bandwagoning 1 side where SFR comunity is? It would be easy win for them so why not do it? We have such situation with Overgrown at EoTM atm. and it is the point od maaaaaany posts here at this subforum.

Man this happen to GvGers…As u know Anet didn’t officially aproved GvGing in this form so I think they won’t even bother with doing something to change that. Actually u are pretty lucky that u aren’t in EU. Here guilds in T1 that are in match-up against sfr completly forget about OS till next reset. Why? Cos of UD farmers there that hold spots and guilds can’t get in. So they chose Mill, flat space near bay or ruins( flat area before bridge to south camp). Still if they do it they get flamed / verbal abused by ppt players who can’t get their ppl in / not enough to cap something and whole thing with ppt > fights starts again. Ohhh also cos they do it( gvging at borders due to OS queue) the whole borders are lost due to new map cap and not enough ppt players. But no1 can really blame them for enjoying the game and playing in legit way.

Well nice idea, but u miss 2 simple points.

1. Look at EoTM, everyone bang green side cos SFR is there. WHat if whole SFR community goes green? Rest will do aswell to have easy wins and then bah, next unbalanced EoTM will happen. So to do this change they would need to keep hold of every side and monitor it’s status, when for example green reach 5k players and other sides 3k, green will be blocked till rest of sides fill. Yet ppl wouldn’t join any side to not be at lose and then loop will happen. Cos why to join losing side? Better wait when someone do it and get into winning – green side.

And 2. point EU servers. Please stop thinking about those changes with only knowledge of NA server status. Atm. u have 27 servers in EU region, those 30 include 1 Spanish, 5 French, 7 German and 14 English speaking servers. No tell me how to split them? How to set them? It woudl lead to same abuse like at EoTM where is German commander leading that speaks his langauge and no1 from other than german servers don’t know a thing. Same will goes for those Orders, for example 3 German, 1 Frech and 5 Eu servers join blue side, what will happen then? English speaking comm leading not English speaking ppl? French commander speaking french with 90% of English/ German speaking players? This won’t work for EU. Might work for NA.

ps. Transfer gives a lot of money to Anet so I think it will stay as it is, at last for price of changing side

well if you have 3 rangers and they focus fire on an commander (they can easily do that) its always insta win against blobs etc. the commander keeps needing to heal up and restack his people cause of the OP melt fest.

Unless comm just charge backline and wipe rangers out and if group is organised they have some fp / casters to take care of rangers / papers focusing comm. Same goes for comm himself, if he is skilled it would be easy for him to avoid rf. But if he is low, ktrain comm with ktrain blob he would die easly. Also dunno how at ur server but at mine if comm get focused he give lead to someone else who can and is at ts3. Much better deal for 3 rangers is to find casters and focus them( 2k hit from 1600 range x3 is 6k dmg every 1 sec, papers run around 18-22k so they will melt. I’m not even mentioning rf.). And here comes what i wrote earlier, ranger is good for fp, but bad for playing in sychro with rest of group( mt and backline, except saving them).

So Ranger at WvW:
+ Long range so u are safe
+ Op 1 target burst
+ A lot of tagging and poking during new PS meta
+ Pretty fine survi
Now let’s say about minuses:
- No support for group
- After u use RF nothing to do much dmg
- Low number of AoEs( only 5. from lb tho)
- Almost 0 ccs
- Nothing to harass and split enemy group( except roots, but 200s CD…)
Basically Ranger can’t do as much as GWEN classes and this class isn’t suited for playing in group( no boons, almost 0 hard condis like immo and AoEs, low amount of ccs). Still Rangers are nice for FP to take papers out but tbh nothing more. except some pointless bang bang bang from self range and holding spot from some GWEN player…blob player…:D

The problem here, is that your discussing this in the very narrow view of Longbow only.

I do not even use longbow on my ranger.

Entangle is good for CC and quit helpful. Flame trap is a nice 12s cooldown fire field. Frost trap offers an ice field. Healing spring is a large, water field with a 33% uptime, that cleanses conditions. Call of the wild offers 3 useful boons in an AoE.

Some of you need to learn, think, and play out side the box of the concept of blindly following the so called mate. I have no idea why so many blindly identify “meta” with “good” but they are not the same thing in my opinion.

Not to mention, If three or more rangers use the skill at the same time, a Lunar Wolf is summoned. This is a reference to the Three Wolf Moon T-shirt and meme. Which is not particularly group supportive, but its kind of cool

Ye I wrote about meta ranger and build that OP run. I know ranger have some usefull stuff but u need to admit that if we compare him with Ele, his skills means nothing. Entangle have too long CD to be considered as usefull. Healing spring yes is large etc. but Ele gives u same but it is x2 Ice field isn’t really needed, unless u know how to utilize frost armor / chill. Call offers buffs but same goes for much better Ele. If Ele is wrong example then let’s compare him with Warrior:

  • Warrior – a lot of ccs, Ranger – almost 0
  • Warrior have 2 short cd blasts, Ranger 1 long cd
  • Wariror have flurry with low cd immo, Ranger have immo with 60 sec cd that happen randomly
  • Warrior can rally with banner, Ranger…what is teamplay?
  • Warrior can heal with shouts, Ranger have water field
  • Warrior have low cd buffs, Again Ranger long cd buffs
  • Warrior have a lot fo cleansing, Ranger not so much

I compared typical Worker Warrior with LB and most usefull group skills Ranger when it is about zergling / blobing. As u see Warrior won here(at last for me). The point of Ranger is that he have everything what other proffesions have, but it is much weaker.

Well to do so anet will have to give free transfer to everyone. Also Why to punish high tier players with even bigger queues when they want to play with their 3 years community?

The same can be said for low tiers wouldnt they too get such queues if you impose a 40% reduction, havent some of them been playing with the same community for 3 years?

But then you talk about community but look at how many times you yourself have moved, what does that say about your feelings towards any community? Very hypocritical of you to use that excuse.

As for GvG, that’s anet’s fault for not adding it.

And do you honestly think that there were not enough people on lowers servers to play WvW? At launch even they had queues, players transferred up because they wanted the easy wins.
Anet then made matters worse by adding WvW tournaments. Only the #1 server in each league got “the best” rewards. Players wanted those rewards and so moved up as well.
All this moving up is what cause the lower servers to lose WvW population; as well as WvW not being updated which lead many to leave the game.

I didn’t type bout me ^^ Go and read again cos I wrote “players” not “me” As for me I know almost every server’s community( at last have access to their ts3 but shhhh and speak with ppl form other servers almost everyday + I use some other forums than thsi 1). Lower tiers won’t have queues cos they can barely get max 50 ppl into border I also didn’t write that not enough ppl to play WvW, just not enough ppl that WANT to play WvW, it is diffrence mate. And ppl wanted easy wins? W8, what does win give em? Nothing, they wanted WvW not some roaming in bronze / silver so they transfered to gold. Same goes for Guilds, do u remember silver as guild’s paradise? But then guilds from gold couldn’t fight against those in silver so they transfered and now all various guilds are in t1-3 so they can meet eachother.

Getting back to main post. Today we had pretty funny situation. With new cap( it is 60 or 70 – 2 guilds got in and some random ppl – around 10 – 15) no1 could defend our home border! Cos guilds went to fight against enemy guilds or watch others fighting and only 10-15 were left to defend something. Yet comm couldn;t get into border( queue) and we lost whole map with 40 man queue and only 10 defenders. Isn’t something wrong here? Anet probably didn’t consider that with lower lower and lower cap gvg guilds will take over borders leaving nothing to pugs. Cos now their member get into borders 30 min -1h before prime time to not stuck in queue and then they either afk or run around at spawn, holding spots. Due to such low number of em it is some abuse, but it is Anet’s fault for doing this ^^ so we can just sit, grab popcorn and watch how ppt die

ps. reason why i think it is 60-70 is that only 2-3 guilds get in now instead of 4-5 like it used to be and guild usually run from 20 to 30 ppl.

T1 = reduction 5%
T2 = reduction 10%
T3 = reduction 15%
T4 = reduction 20%
T5 = reduction 25%
T6 = reduction 30%
T7 = reduction 35%

…. lower tier servers wouldn’t be able to queue maps anyway, so bigger reduction on them make sense…

I think you have that list upside-down.

I would place a 40% reduction on T1 and 5% on T8

Why? Because it will force players to spread between the servers again rather than bandwagon in the top 3.

It should be open to everyone, just like wvw is now. Test it under the actual conditions it will face when live. Isn’t the point of a stress test to push it to it’s breaking point so you know your limitations?

Don’t they know already? WvW is all time stress test with lag spikes every day after every new patch By opening beta to all it would burn out their servers( considering that pve and wvwv player will go there). Also WvW test should be up for WvWers only cos they know the point and the way this gamemode working. By putting PvErs there they won’t test anything except how bad their servers for WvW are – something they know already, but doing almost nothing with that.

Any selection based on ranks/BoH, time spent in wvw/eotm will give a group of players with biased view on the test map.

The selection should be random.

Ye, but if they do it “random like” a lot of pve players will get into map and they won’t test anything wvw related. That is why i suggested only WvW ways to get beta. Same like for PvE beta u can only get it by playing PvE not WvW to let PvErs test it out and not some pvp / wvw players.

Idk NA meta but in EU it is like this:

  • U basically follow commander or take a lead by yourself if u have a tag, u can aso raid as guild and fight other groups. The point for ppt is to cap points, hold them and get points, contribute to whole amount of points and then win match-up. The point of fighters or so called gvgers is to fight other goups with guild and have fun out of it + lootbags
  • As for rewards u have WvW ranks which give u exclusive titles that only enemy can see tho ;/ But u get silver, boh and items from chest for getting next WXP lvls( WvW ranks) which can have best eq in game, legendary precursors etc. For capping points u get lord’s bag and silver + karma for doing events. From players u can loot a lot of stuff :P basically everything. During Tournaments for winning u get tickets to buy rare skins and some nice stuff, outside of tournaments for 1. place u get 3 addiction wxp chests and nothing more except a position at http://mos.millenium.org/eu/matchups/ and officila ladders.
  • As for server’s, we had some HUGE issue 2 months ago, but now lag is lower. It still happen( as I know NA is fine, the problem is in EU) and can crash ur game / disconect you during fight. There are also overhuge queues during prime time.
  • WvW is worth doing if u want to get ut server higher in ladder or just enjoy capping, defending and fighting. If u chose gvg playstyle it is fun( at last for me) to fight others, kill em, get prestige and make everyone know about ur guild and get some loot from enemy . Also u have to sharp ur teamplay etc. if u chose this gamestyle.

READ AND NOTE, IT’S WALL OF TEXT BUT IT’S REALITY AND IT’S A SHAME:
To ALL people that think this helped and ArenaNet, sincirely.
For more then 2 weeks you are testing this theory of limiting numbers on borders.
So far we had every day a HUGE fight in EB since we are T1 server (Gandara) and let me tell you that limiting server numbers did not solve the rubber bending, skill lag and disconnects, nothing really changed it’s only annoying as hell for populated servers to get limited.

Let me tell you what you’ve done ArenaNet. In WvW we have 4 maps, yes i know you know it, BUT, EB is the place where people most queue for, home border is where people mostly AFK and wait for EB queue to pop AND other two borders are mainly for closed raids of guilds.
Now what have you really done? You limited borderlands for 20% and lets say our home-border is GREEN, then blue and red is meant for raids, guilds usually start raiding at evenings around 20:00, what this means for a guild, we have to queue 20 min before raid to a border just to get 15 people guild into same border without being let out, and pray for not getting disconnect, IF we do, we are out in queue for 90 minutes.. which can mean end for your raid for this evening.. On the other hand, if there is attack on home-borderland there is NO WAY to save it, because there is normally 15-30 people AFK @main way-point. They don’t respond on HELP calls in map/team chat, and people that want to help, are stuck in queue, so we are left like with 20 people vs double our numbers..
The worst part of this limitation? Guilds that raid on same border, at the same time, did start to whisper other guilds, to stop raiding, call names, and insult people because they couldn’t get people in the same border. Things went so far, that guilds are insulting each other instead of helping the server. They leave each other to die when there is outnumbered fight, and they could fight together to make it even, but in return they let them fail alone, and they just retreat like nothing happened.

TL;DR, ArenaNet fixed nothing on T1 servers, they caused only to:

  • AFK people on home-border
  • people in home border cannot defend because there is normally around 20 people afk, and do not respond on help calls, and other people cannot queue in because of those afk ppl.
  • people that raid on same border at the same time, they start insulting other guilds that try to raid there
  • skill lag, rubber-bending and disconnects did not leave even where there is no huge fights
  • ping to google from EU to NA is 35ms, ping to EU server is normally 100, and it’s EU server.. but from 19-0:00 there is always rubber-bends and ping up to 600-1000ms for entire server.

You fixed null, nothing, zero.. So please reverse changes, imagine PvE limitation on 50 people Teq, people would be sick of it a lot sooner then 14 days… People would tear you apart if this would happen in PvE and you know it.. so sincerely reverse the fix and start working on fix harder. People who play GW2 only for WvW like me, don’t deserve this kind of punishment. Thank you for reading.

Gods' Intervention [HoT]

  • Upkeep cost depend on the number of targets the shrine effects (see below)
  • If the over all karma contribution falls under a certain level, the shrine begins to degenerate slowly and will eventually be destroyed (can be repaired with supply)

I see some abuse here / troll. Let’s say taht certain group of 10 players is going to contribute karma and then 40 ppl guild come into keep – upkeep lvl rise and karma is dead or opposite all players go out and the 1 guy contribute to max it, aftert hat huge wave come to get buffs and fight with em.

  • The shrine’s effect is only available for disadvantaged server(s) (probably only few objectives left on map) and will dissipate if the server’s position becomes stronger

Disadvantaged servers so those outnumbered( since this is buff that occur when ur side is outnumbered = at disadvantage) so how outnumbered server can hold a keep or gather 500-1000 supplies? Also u mentioned achiv, I want this achiv but my server is never and probably won’t be at disadvantage! What then? And if server get enough ppl but a lot of afkers and outnumbered buff won’t occur but server’s will be at disadvantage what then? I know u didn’t mention outnumbered buff but it is the only logical way to decide if server is at disadvantage.

  • The shrine’s effect can only effect a single keep for a server across all WvW maps

So ppl will just steal it form otehr defenders or trolling by taking buffs into not attacked keep at 1 border from attacked keep at other border. Should be up for every map but then…too op and unbalanced

  • The shrine has a huge AoE effect (like shrines around a keep) depending on the active deity:
    Dwayna’s Intervention: Constant HP regeneration and periodic superspeed application for allies in the area
    Balthazar’s Intervention: Constant bonuses to all stats for allies in the area
    Melandru’s Intervention: Constant HP degeneration and periodic cripple application for foes in the area
    Lyssa’s Intervention: Periodic transformation of conditions into boons for allies in the area
    Grenth’s Intervention: Periodic transformation of boons into conditions for foes in the area
    Kormir’s Intervention: Periodic application of slow for foes and quickness for allies in the area

Well tbh those buffs are too op like corrupting boons or putting cripple on foes. Maybe u don’t know but the thing with WvW now is to balance it not to make even more more unbalanced with changes like this. Not to mention that performance might get lower with more buffs up. Server are barely holding after march 16. patch and massive 1 month lags.

Another WvW Season before expansion?

Expansion is going to bring in ALOT of new players or old players returning to the game. To help funnel the new players to mid/lower tiers can we please have another WvW Season/tourney before expansion. It would re-organize the tiers/servers to appropriate ranking. Even if the WvW tourney is only for 4-5 weeks.

But it is sure that they will be set like they are now :P at last for top 8.

Anet could possible put caps on top 3-6 servers , where new players would be directed to lower server/tiers to balance population. Returning players would still be able to play on their old servers so numbers on those servers would go up. Since WvW is the only thing that is affected by server choice imo this should be done as current wvw rankings/glicko is not indicative of server’s strengths.

Ye, but u miss something, silver – bronze = pve community. Also it isn’t about server’s capacity( for example BT is last 1 with very high status) it is about ppl attitude, they just don’t want to play WvW. There is no sesne in capping top servers with old player’s database. They should set server’s population by WvW activity. For example during 1 week 8k ppl went into WvW so this will set server’s population as high or something. Then they might be able to cap server’s, cos why to send ppl into very high server? What if all of them join WvW at HoT’s release? I know what will happen, over 400 ppl queues. Like it used to be at start of gw2. Getting back to “pve community”, I played at BT, RoS, GH – bronze and silver servers atm – what happened there was hate hate hate from pve players against wvwers and not skilled players. That is the point ppl go into high tiers, cos a lot fo WvW players tehre, no some pvers who know how to verbal abuse only. Ohhh and outside of gold tier there is 18 servers, those 18 include 6 german, 3 french and 9 English speaking servers so it is pretty hard to balance it out here. So if they keep blocking servers with high number of players to balance it out – probably English speaking servers 1. , some international players will be forced to play at german / french servers without any knowlege of those languages.

NOPE, there is no lag cos EoTM run “new enginee” – I will call it as this. While old WvW maps run " old pve enginee". Basically old borderlands lag cos of PvE constrution for em, while EoTM have completly diffrent contruction. Also if u ever got over slow loading textures u could see HUNDREDS of lvls of textures under current ones. For example, under blue spawn wp is a lot of snow, water etc. and at this point, THE WATER is lagging, not fps, but ping lag.

Any source or evidence for your otherwise completely unjustified conjectures?

Ye, watch YT and check out about the textures under EB or some other wvw map. Also turn off every graphic option and it will lag less( not fps, ping). As for constructions of EoTM – Old borderlands. as i wrote check YT or turn down render of ur RAM and GPU to see it. Also check out beta posts( if they still exist) that WvW run same enginee as PvE – GW1’s enginee and isn’t suited for 240 players( 3 way fights).

Complete and utter nonsense. There is no different server backend or architecture being used in EotM. There is no separate “PvE” engine. And the reason performance was brought up in the first place was that people think getting rid of EotM will somehow improve performance in other parts of the game, when there is also zero evidence to support this (no, “but it used to run so much better back in the day” is not valid evidence. People love to look at the past through rose-colored glasses. I remember when I first started playing WvW, and the game ran like garbage in large-scale fights).

So u had low pc Also they removed culling after 2-3 weeks since live. And yes EoTM have totally diffrent architecture and don’t have such many textures as old maps have – some evidence? Follow pervious post Getting rid od EoTM might help a bit( cos servers wouldn’t be stressed enough and before u comment it, if it isn;t using WvW’s server supplies then it will give better performance for pve and if it have it’s own server resources it will help with all other gamemodes ), but will bring lot of bad stuff to old servers( like low lvls, low skilled players, ktrains, pvers etc.).

Just remove server transfers altogether. The PVE crowd won’t miss them since they have the megaserver anyways. If you can’t transfer out, then you can either create a new account somewhere else and suffer what pains go along with that, or put in the effort to resolve your server’s problems.

Of course then they couldn’t sell gems for people wanting to get on the latest bandwagon server, so obviously that’s out.

As unpopular as the very notion may be, this is why MMOs have had server mergers since time immemorial. Because servers do die, as they should, as the game’s – or game mode’s – popularity dwindles.

We’re in gold and there are nights when we don’t have pugmander one on our home border in all evening, and we struggle to keep 15 reds from resetting the whole border because we don’t have defenders. Yet there’s a queue. I think it’s partially because of Anet in their infinite wisdom shoving PvE dailies bs into WvW, which means we got 2 guys defending and 8 recapping, and all ruins are manned while we lose keeps. The other probable reason is that they’ve lowered map caps to correspond with the fact that they needed server muscle for China and eSports and took them from WvW.

Ye I’m in gold too, Deso, and here if we don’t have comm he is just stuck in queue or no1 want to lead. The other reason why u might not have comm with queue are guilds But it is also anet’s side problem cos they didn’t provide gvg arena / map so guilds raid at borders and fight eachother there so no spots left for defenders( atm cos of all changes it is like 70-80 spots).

Merge servers it is nice idea, but u miss something: EU. What is such sepecial about EU? 7 German servers, 5 French servers, 1 Spanish server and 14 English speaking servers. How u want to merge them? Also if it is about merging it should be like 6:6:6 – due to tournaments, so from 24 to 18, this would bring some queues and totally unbalance servers.

1. Guids should have a WvW Rank per world. Guilds that earn more score for a world would have a higher rank in that world, and that rank would also count negatively when ranking on worlds teamed against the world in which they have the highest rank.

How? Just how u want to check out which servers teamed against other? U can’t make official alliances so HOW? By rumors? Players speculations? :P

2. A guild with a higher rank would always be able to take over a location claimed by a guild with lower rank, but they’ll only be able to keep the last location. If they already had another location, the location ownerships would switch instead being replaced.

Ye, but what about abuse of this system? As u know many night guilds earn a lot of points, so according to that they will have highest place, but those guilds aren’t always with buffs and what if they claim fully buffed keep without buffs?

5. I’d rather have upgrades require something else, like badges of honor instead supplies or some location-based an alternate value. If there was such a time, then spies would be able to trigger upgrades, preventing people from taking supply they may need for something else.

Yeah and put free upgrades everywhere. Atm. u need to w8 for supply to put upgrade on and it is worth roaming and taking those camps out, with BoH instead of supplies ppl will just don’t care about camps, cos they will be able to upgrade it for free and have full upgraded camp in no time

7. Supplyinfo got already increased from 180 to 240 range. For some reason people don’t seem to beleive it and insit on people to stack until they can sniff each others armpits. Instead, supplyinfo should have an animation and visuals. Like a large banner with a nice red circle radius. So people can actually see the range of the thing. Commaners should also get a little floating skillbar they can move anywhere on screen with orders and commands for quick use without typing.

They want to stack to have clear image, 240 isn’t much tho – meele range. Also typing orders? Hello it’s 2015, use ts3, ventrillo or some other voice chat app for leading unless u want to be wiped out cos it takes some time to type / click / use macro and for ppl to read it.

You don’t really get it right? xD They put it inot DT and SW to bring players there, hello, u claimed that u are active so u should know the case. But if u don’t then some recap: Actually lot of new players want to play SW / DT to get their skins etc. BUT they can’t cos no more players were doing events. All were farming chests instead of doing it so ppl qqed at forums and so on they wanted to put some live to those maps by giving away beta access( as they claimed at start they were supposed to chose players not give beta away so u should be greatfull to them for doing this).

Most of those “five portals in one day” people are just flat out lying. The drop rate is too low to get that consistently. I saw some dumb crap in map chat this morning about people linking single portals and telling you then had 5-25 (the 25 was obviously a lie, the 5 is slightly more believable, but really really really unlikely)

What about few stacked portals? They either got em or changed code – waht is against rules and they should be banned for that right?

I have only one request… unbind WvWvW from server and makes it AvAvA. Due to megaservers it’s close to impossible to find WvW players willing to band together anymore.

Well yeah, but as i know only bronze servers are dead cos ppl just ran out of there to have fights and don’t stay in toxic pve community( example: Blacktide) of players who don’t want WvW. Also how u search for them(players)? Via WvW map? LFG? TS? Forum? U have plenty of ways to find players but maybe they just don’t want to play WvW. Also AvAvA would bring such bigger unbalance cos who will it determinate players to which alliance they belong? By current WvW ranking? They will join specific alliance? Random throwing into some alliance? And how would it work? Actually in t1-3 u have 20 man queues during prime time which is 19 CET to 23 CET at last for Europe. So with AvAvA it will be overextended, also if u set it into overflows( I mean borderlands as overflows like EoTM) it will still be unbalanced cos some oveflows will have only “green” color cos rest wouldn’t be fitted by players from “red” and “blue”. As u see too hard to make AvAvA atm. at last now when SvSvS is developped.

Completely agree with the OP. It needs to revert back to the old view.

At least the old way there were only a handful of players with the three-monitor setup that could abuse the camera angles. And GW2 players got creative with those types — they’d simply flag everyone on map who had the three-monitor setup and ensure that player was killed over and over again before he even had a chance to drop an AC/Balli.

The new angles make it impossible to set up anything defensive for towers .. a single ac can wipe all. There’s even youtube videos outlining how to eliminate siege at inner keeps from outside the walls. It’s nuts.

They need to revert it back to the way it was.

Definitly no! New camera is best thing they gave us( finally normal fiew as asura, not some ground camera) since start of 2015. If it is about siege for defenders u just don’t know: a) how to put it ; b) wehre to put it ; c) how to eliminate attackers. Also as u wrote with old system some players that could buy / run 3 monitors had advantages and could abuse system. That wasn’t cool towards students and ppl who simply enjoy games but aren’t willing to spend bonus money for more monitors or just didn’t want to play 3 monitors to cheat. With new settings all have same chances so no more money / gameplay stuff to not be able to do something.

Needs a nerf.

It makes defending walls with limited LoS impossible if the opposing server has an Omega. Rockets now shoot through walls.

That is why we will get shield generator. Just stay calm and wait ^^ Currently all changes are made to balance it with HoT exapansion. Just look at stabillity changes, it makes everything unbalanced if it is about ccs, but probably revenant and specializations fix it.

Search at WvW borderlands, LFG, ask for ur server’s ppl in LA( usually u go to ur server’s overflow), check out ur server’s forum, go to server’s ts3 etc. etc. there is a lot of ways to find ppl from ur server.
