What Cinder said. Waypoint costs don’t keep me out of the capitals. The fact that there isn’t anything in the capitals once i’ve fully explored them, that isn’t elsewhere, is what kill them.
Do you not lose the power for assassins signet on use? And as 90 power is roughly a 10% damage increase, you only gain 5% damage on activation? Or do you keep the power until the activation has been used (all 5 strikes).
I reckon they should split the achievements
100% pve exploration
100% pvp exploration
And have an achievement
100% exploration
Obviously for getting 100% of pve and pvp exploration.
A medical tent sounds fine.
Waypoint tent is so overpowered. Considering the costs of upgrading a keep to have a waypoint, a 100 supply tent should not have such an option.
Tactical planning tent. Possible.
Supply tent. No. Supply camps are supposed to be the life force of WvW. With this you’d get someone spam tents for mass production of supply which if defended right, would be a huge deal.
I think
Desolation
Gandara
Gunners hold
Aurora glade
Those 4 have english as a dominant language by far I believe. Deso of course being the most dominant with english, but good luck getting on there. Full server.
Keep this thread high
Any other additions to the list from you guys would be welcome. One said about some being too long term and I can certainly see why you said that. I’ve tried to keep most of them inside the week timeframe as that’s the duration of a WvWvW match.
To be honest the ones that’ll have the most impact are probably 4 and 6. A losing server with loyal people could bust out of a tight spot with the siege rewards and 6 limits the effect of a dominant server being even more dominant with a large transfer to their server.
Extra ideas:
7) As for increased gold and karma idea. Would you guys agree that having that in a similar format to the number 4 idea would work? Throughout the week in WvW you gain increased rewards for each day you assist in WvW for your server. On the 7th consecutive day the difference between a hopper and a loyal member of a server could be significant.
8) Server buffs from your servers PvE and PvP cannot be used by someone who has just transferred till the end of the match taking place. Additionally no guild buffs can be used either.
That’s why i’m coming up with this idea. It won’t help during RoF or AG off-peak hours because the numerical difference is insurmountable. But when both servers have their little bit of prime-time at least we can do something rather than conquer a small section on EB in the entire prime-time, go to bed and have nothing again.
If anyone doesn’t know what the matchup looks like, I think it’s:
1) Millers on ~160k points
2) AG and RoF on ~30k points
It is odd that the class seemingly most designed to play with conditions, hasn’t got the better conditions.
Torch off-hand certainly has my vote
Ok it is rather obvious that with daily free transfers, people hop onto winning servers in WvW constantly. This can leave some servers which were doing nicely in a sudden terrible state of woe, whereby you have to lose for a month before you reach the rock bottom where you belong, and can start having a real match again.
Of course, at the moment being rid of free transfers could prove detrimental as those servers with poor communities will be as such for a long time to come. There’s idea’s around disabling WvW participation or lengthening the period between transfer’s which are all fine, but seem to be treating symptoms rather than the cause.
Server loyalty should be rewarded instead. Idea’s to reward it, or rid us of some incentives for being disloyal.
1) Daily achievements. Cannot be attained if you swapped server on that day.
2) Weekly loyalty bonus. Get a small sum of money and a black lion key or something.
3) Monthly achievements. Larger rewards for people on a server for a full month.
4) For every day you fight for the server you were on at the start of a new match-up, you get a WvW siege item or something. Every day extra increases odds of a costlier siege engine (eg, day 1/2 most likely items are arrow carts or rams, 3/4 cata’s and ballista’s, 5/6 trebs and on 7 there’s a chance of a siege golem).
5) If a player hops server over X times a month (number open for discussion) they receive a symbol by their name for disloyalty for the remainder of the month. Not sure on this one but possible.
6) If you swap server, any orbs held by your new server benefit you in no way for the remainder of the matchup.
Just some idea’s. More can be added, not all need implemented. The idea is just to reward people sticking to a server and penalise WvW glory seekers.
This weeks matchup verses Millers Sound has really demonstrated this to me. It’s the first matchup where i’ve not seen a server drop below a ~450 pts/15 minutes threshold. Regularly they are up over 600 too.
The trouble is, as someone else stated a while back that once you own the map it doesn’t disperse but rather concentrates your forces. You have 6 points to watch in total. 2 spawns in each area. That’s it.
Now, especially on EB this is a big issue. With keeps being the first major obstacle that needs retaking it’s rather difficult to do because nobody has supply. You need a lot of supply to take a keep, else you’re banging your head on a brick wall. They have it fully upgraded, with supply from every supply line allowing them to repair any damage from player abilities rather easily.
Something does need to be done about this. I accept that Miller’s is a very good, at least relatively, server compared to Aurora Glade or Ring of Fire. But when we do have our small moment of primetime it takes forever just to get that one spot. Taking anything further afield is troublesome as it’s farther from a spawn and without places such as the keep on the way, is a short term victory.
If a server has 0 points could players not spawn with 10 supply? It’s happened every day so far, our server has at many points a day had 0 points income. Just a thought.
That’s what i’m afraid of really. Do I jump ship and hope another server doesn’t get abandoned? Stick it out and pray by the time server transfers cost, that my server has a decent community? This is the trouble of free transfers at the moment.
WvW is my favourite thing in the game at the moment. So it’s a big deal when we have a single supply camp on the whole map and there’s no other players to help come back. I don’t want to be locked into a poor wvw server but I don’t want to be a ship jumper and just follow people who jump. Because you just know if it stays as it is, the server you hop to will empty out sooner or later due to world hoppers.
So highest burst, highest mobility, and most effective single target cripples. Awesome.
Lowest health, low toughness, low CC breaks and not much in the way of hard CC of their own. Yup seems about right.
The whole point of the thief, is to murder the living daylight out of glass cannons and low level people. How many thief players run up to guardians? I for one just leave guardians alone.
And they aren’t even the most mobile. Engineers can have perma swiftness for example, which trumps our ONLY skill that provides movement speed (signet of shadows) as it’s 8% more speed.
If you want to moan about their burst, you must also contemplate giving thieves more health and toughness.
Real shame indeed. I was really enjoying the last matchups. Even last weeks which we lost it was relatively close as WvWvW goes (at one point all 3 servers within 15k points from 1st to last, when we were around 100k pts). Now this. I haven’t logged on and seen Millers on less than 450 pts/15mins.
The only thing I’ve managed to do at some times is hang around killing Dolyaks. Which is cool but i’d like to take a tower sometimes.
This thieves guild that isn’t the thieves guild skill gets better and better
If you’re making this happen, what server?
Condition thief. Run the chill venom, poison venom and basilisk venom. Also signet of shadows for general speed and the blind.
Battle starts, poison them.
They close in, basilisk venom.
Get as many bleed stacks from dagger skill 3 during their stone as possible.
Chill venom when they break out of stone, either stopping them closing the gap on you, or running away.
Blind them if they get to you.
Victory.
Sounds interesting. Those idea’s around thieves guild spam with a large group sound hilarious.
Just as good would be a mass basilisk venom group. Perma-stoned enemies.
And, just to troll people who cry, 15 heartseekers at once.
Aye. People moaning about their towers getting hit by trebs are daft IMO. Build your own and hit it back? If you do it right they won’t see your treb.
Stonemist can hit those surrounding towers. But likewise ALL of those surrounding towers can hit stonemist. It makes the outer wall of SM very vulnerable. Honestly the only point of the SM assault that tends to be tough is the centre. The inner wall can be but you can hit it from so many places. I am of course assuming a none enormous zerg defence.
Is it just me, or is the Siege Golem massively overpriced. For that price (1 gold for anyone who doesn’t know) you could have so much more of other siege items.
16 rams with leftover silver
16 arrow carts with leftover silver
10 ballista’s
8 catapults with leftover silver
4 trebs with leftover silver
If I remember the prices right. Or any combination of the above. The Golem simply doesn’t do enough damage to justify being worth that many other siege items. I understand it is mobile, but a well placed treb can hit more than one target, have the safety of range and costs a fortune less. Anyone else have similar sentiments on this?
Not saying they’re useless, just highly cost ineffective.
If you’re from Fort Rankik, that’s quite rich talk.
Also addressing a whole server is unjust. It’s only a handful of people. I for one don’t glitch or hack.
Indeed defence awards are the worst. Never attained higher than silver even if I build multiple siege engines and use them for the entire fight, and help drive them off.
It would help with that ‘snowballing’ issue some chap posted about a couple of days back. I can see where you are going with this.
It’d be nice if outmanned buff was actually useful too because losing sides generally haven’t got the man power.
Am I the only one that spams AoE on a stealth thief?
There wasn’t really anything revealing about that video, a thief wandered around a group who didn’t communicate, look, or do anything about his presence. Combined with the rendering issue, which I imagine is what made that more possible it’s no real surprise. If you watched the damage figures etc, there’s nothing special. In-fact that looked fine to me.
You don’t need new ways to break stealth guys, you just need Anet to fix this rendering thing and get rid of culling. Freakin Guardians do this to me sometimes in WvW it’s that bad!
I don’t mind normal ressing. If someone is downed but in downed state, by all means pick them back up. However I dislike resurrecting the defeated. If a player has been downed and then beaten beyond downed state, they should have to waypoint and come back. At least in PvP.
Or just make it WvWvWvW. A 4 server match could prove interesting. With an even number there isn’t a ‘position 2’ as there is currently, as there is no middle rank. Yes what’s described will still happen but to a lesser extent.
I enjoy WvW anyway. In-fact on Aurora Glade i’m particularly enjoying a fairly close match this week.
Nah it’d be ridiculous. Especially with the Mesmer utilities. Imagine multiple Guardian clones?
Had a couple of ridiculous battles in Stonemist this week. I’m on Aurora Glade battling verses 2 French servers of Jade Sea and Fort Ranik.
Fort Ranik held stonemist, and we on Aurora glade capped umberglade and then saw a battle developing on the second wall of stonemist. We made our own breach from the north and proceeded to the centre, with Jade sea doing likewise from the south I presume. Ridiculous 3 way battle for stonemist.
[Suggestion] Not ONE should have to bear the costs for WvW upgrades

Said this in a similar thread.
What you need is 3 ‘deposits’ or banks.
Deposit a) Any player can put money in and any play can take money out for an upgrade.
Deposit b) Only party members can contribute and withdraw money for an upgrade.
Deposit c) Only guild members can contribute and withdraw for upgrades.
Reason you need 3 is because I imagine you’d get some tool who would spend all of deposit a on something useless. Having deposit b and c gives a degree of control as an option to the player.
It’s because of culling as everyone has said. Thieves are actually fine when it works properly but this bug is troublesome. Fix the bug, thieves are fine.
Also saying AoE as such is useless is a load of turtle kitten I’ve died many a time because of a well placed meteor shower after skirting around the edges of a zerg finding a low level glass cannon to pick off.
I still think the biggest pain in the bottom class in WvW is the Elementalist.
Aurora Glade is a friendly place. Mainly English speaking (just search the Guilds list and you’ll see a mass of English). Currently mid table I believe and in a real tight battle with 2 French servers. Can’t speak for everyone but i’d welcome you.
Romek. It’s not totally unfair though is it. There’s a fair bunch of French Canadians on the French servers and Latin Americans on the Spanish. The Germans are a bit left out on nights but you can’t deny the presence of those others. Also Anet said they may look into some sort of scoring alteration to make off peak capping fairer.
(edited by Katsumoto.9452)
In WvW i’d have to say that the warrior and mesmer give me the most grief. Thieves are a pain with the rendering problem but to be fair that’s a bug.
I’d rather allow guilds to claim supply camps and by claiming it give them power to tell the Dolyaks where to go (obviously they have to stick to the routes, but you could have them skip a bunch of towers to have them simply wander back and forth from supply camp to one tower).
Dolyaks are good IMO. It’d be nice to have a degree of control over your supply line though. Trouble with all this of course is griefing. People would tell them to go where it’s unneeded.
With the OP’s suggestion could a kitten not simply be a kitten and take the supply back where it came from to be a kitten?
Didn’t know that. That’s a real shame because it discourages WvW being more tactical.
As it is in world vs world there are many bugs, but above all there’s a lack of reward for defensive play. Other things need changing also.
Escorting a Dolyak should give a decent reward. I don’t think there is one currently, and that’s why if I just run across the map I can disrupt enemy supplies for free.
Defending a tower even when there isn’t an attacker should have some sort of reward. If you stand in a front line tower for X period of time there should be something for it.
That’s the defensive play covered fairly much. These guys need something for their efforts.
Then there’s issues surrounding night capping. I have no issue with it. It’s a 24/7 battlefield. However where it gets unfair is with population imbalance. There needs to be a way to scale the scoring based on your population relative to the other servers. I’m not convinced it’s fair for a server with 10 people to hold 1/4 of the map and get less points than a server with 50 people holding 1/3 of the map. Not sure how to implement this fairly either though. Hopefully all servers will get a decent 24 hour population so this doesn’t need changing.
And finally the obvious bugs.
Keep wall jumping bug needs rid of.
Orb hacking.
Invisible enemies may be working as intended, but it isn’t good. Yesterday I moved forward and I couldn’t see an enemy Charr Guardian until he was using his GS ability 2 right on top of me. It makes classes without huge AoE quite dull in WvW because you can’t even go ‘hue meteor shower there, it’s bound to hit something’, you just look around and go ?
As well as that, is WvWvW the right way? I don’t want a 1vs1 WvW but is 3 servers good or would a larger number be better? That’s open for discussion.
Got to admit, I wasn’t sure I should move from Deso to AG to ask my mate to move from AG to Deso… but I do not regret this move. AG seems like a top notch server for friendliness. Also not being a top level exotic boasting player it’s kinda nice to be on a less elite WvW server.
That’s really lame from FR
Are you only about mesmer portals allowing people up onto castle walls without breaking gates or a wall? Seen it done, somewhat lame.
Can’t see a thread for it. Just moved to AG from Deso to be with a friend. Looks like a really competitive match judging by the score.
Lets talk about it.
Easily thieves. Perma run speed bonus so you can’t run away, nor chase. High damage with stealth and the current issues around invisible enemies makes them too much at the moment. If the invisible enemies issue were to be fixed, it’d be a much closer call between the thief and the mesmer. As it stands, thief.
Need more variation. Particularly the males in my opinion.
I’m actually really dissapointed in the male character models. I was talking to a friend earlier and said, you know I really don’t like them.
Humans: Bunch of pretty boys. If I wanted a human male, i’d want something rugged, or wise looking. There currently aren’t really any options for that. I’d like to make a character model to look how i’d imagine Belgarath from the popular fantasy series, the Belgariad or Malloreon. For those unknowing, he’s an extremely old man (many thousands of years, can’t recall exactly how many thousands but I think 7,000), who dresses is clothing that looks crap but is comfortable. I’d imagine he has a fair share of facial hair. That style would help me make a thief. I’d also like an old man Gandalf style.
Norns: Is it just me, or does the overwhelming mass on their upper body ruin them. Also there needs to be more hair, face and facial hair options again. I can only make people that look like 25 year old warriors. I’d want some more evenly distributed muscle mass models, with some older faces that don’t look terrible.
Sylvari: To me, they look like they should be on ‘The only way is Essex’. A terrible thing to happen to TV in the UK.
Asura: They aren’t too bad but some more hair options would be a nice touch.
Charr: The only race I find males to hit the right look on so far.
Females could do with some work too. Some might want a haggard old witch look which you can’t really get.
Kinda agree. I started a warrior the other day because of the longbow skills (seriously, I love longbow’s but the ranger’s one sucks). Warriors ones are actually pretty awesome. However I didn’t realise how, relative to other weapons, poorly traited it is as a weapon.
Shame as it seems a perfect siege weapon for WvW which i really enjoy.
Lol at the hate against ruin. I’m a deso player and i’m glad they’ve come over. I typically play late evenings into the early morning (around 9pm-2:30 am GMT) and it’s made a huge difference. The queues aren’t even that bad? Even during prime time and such it’s only 20 minutes or so maximum. Tis nice to have a competitive server.
When Anet makes the fix to scoring to base it off of population imbalance, all this night capping cry will go away hopefully.
I can see your point and it is noted. Thing is though is this change really fair if you leave the Engineers standing where they are now. They have only 3 weapon combinations to choose from, rifles, pistols and pistol/shield. Of those none of them really cover short range. Nor even ‘long’ range as the rifle is the longest range and that’s only 1,000 range as a pose to 1,200 boasted by ever other class aside thief I think.
WvW is supposed to be 24/7 competition. There is nothing wrong with ‘night capping’ or anything like that. Honestly if you were a Latin American with limited English skills would you a) Join a NA server where people speak English incorrectly or b) Join a server where people speak your language?
B.
The only thing that could be called an issue is population imbalance scoring. They need to figure out a weighting system whereby having X% higher population average over the 15 minute gap between scoring reduces your score potential. That way having twice the population at X o’clock and having Y% of the map owned will not simply = total domination of the scoreboard. Couldn’t figure out fair numbers to assign to this idea though.
Some sort of upgrade bank I presume you’re suggesting? 20 people put X amount of money in. Then one person spends it.
I can see that working. Might be a pain if you’re with a group bundling to buy something and a pillock goes and uses it to buy something else.
Solution:
3 banks
General bank. Put money in. Anyone can use it.
Party bank. Put money in, only people in your party can use it.
Guild bank. Put money in, only your guild can use it.
I particularly like the guild bank
Would help the WvW feel more organised.
Or
Give all merchants a 1 minute resale. Buy the item, oh darn I didn’t mean to do that. You have 1 minute to sell it back at full price, if after, things are as they are now.
I say no to weapon swapping on the elementalists. However I’d propose something different to the same ends.
You elementalists have summoned weapons. If those summoned weapons lasted a goodly length of time and were good, whilst covering the necessary range of ranges that’d surely suffice? Frost bow long range, use in conjuction with dagger builds. Lava axe short range, use with staff builds. You get the idea. If these conjured weapons were good enough that’s the elementalist fixed really. And that way you don’t have the scenario where you guys get weapon swapping (40 skills).
Anyone else agree here?
It’s pretty awesome just again, a shame that the invisible enemies issue keeps popping up and ruining my WvW experience. I actually shifted away from Deso last couple of days just to see if it was as bad on other servers, and based on my friend (aurora glade), yesterday (seafarers rest) and today (gunnar’s hold) I can say it’s as bad everywhere. Will be back to deso this evening
Title says it all. Got some stuff bought from the trading post and some profits too but I don’t want it all on one character.
I’d like a small cut of my total profits and just the a couple of packs i’ve purchased, not the whole lot which is more money, more packs and a staff.
Agreed. There are already crippling skills and such to slow down your movement. It’d also help the game feel that little bit more ‘alive’. I don’t like how slow I move in combat.
