2) The value of the monkey tonic and miniature is crashing like no tomorrow because now everyone can farm them with a simple timetable and it is getting broadcasted on map (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Slay_the_rare_creature)
Excellent news.
The same happened with wintersday title/achievment > Sweet tooth. I farmed and stocked ~1,5k of candy’s to use then, and then I couldn’t log on the day before patch. Patch hit, achievment/Title Gone for good, and I am sitting at 1,5k of useless candys.
For the life of me I can’t think of a good reason, or any reason at all TBH, why you’d not consume those things as you got them rather than hoarding till the 11th hour allowing you no time to deal with unexpected problems, which sadly you encountered.
It’s the same everywhere, people leave things till the very last minute and then complain when something happens that prevents them doing what they could have done days, or sometimes weeks, before.
I guess these changes show Anet’s focus and priorities .. they dumb down the effect of things like ‘fireball’ to the point of laughability and thne inflict utterly moronic effects such as the rainbow horseshoe prints of the My Little Pony bow.
Truly a victory of fluff over substance.
/shakeshead
How the hell did this get broken by the patch, nothing in the patch notes even hints that the LFG system was remotely touched.
Given this system is a critical core part of Anet’s new zone content ‘vision’ (it’s the only way most of the ‘content’ in the HOT zones can be done) it’s even more unacceptable that such breakage was allowed to go live than most ‘new’ bugs in not ‘new’ content.
/sigh
Gotta say this was such a stupid thing to do .. of all the hundreds of millions of ‘historical figures’ whose name you could use you just happened to use the name of arguably the most evil ‘historical figure’, ever .. I’d be quite happy to see your ban upheld on appeal.
Just one of many features Anet deliberately didn’t implement in their misguided (and failed) attempts to prevent RMT I expect, like no player-to-player trade, etc.
While it’s easy to commiserate with the OP, I’m sure most if not all of us have lagged/DCed/whatever at some boss fight or other I know I have a few times right at the point of the boss dying, asking for ‘compensation’ is really ridiculous especially as you didn’t LOSE anything, you’re asking for stuff you MAY have got IF you had beaten it.
I’ve ‘lost’ a MoM fight with him at 2% because some idiots Anet forced me to play with couldn’t kill the vines .. should I demand the stuff I ‘lost’ due to idiot players which I can’t do anything about?
(edited by Kerin.9125)
Sadly those setting you mentioned Foxx have no effect on first-person view.
I tried with a human and it’s a bit better but the camera is still a LOT lower than I see on videos, people are able to stand in one place and shoot targets 2-6 without hardly moving, I can’t do that, the camera is so low that I have to move around to see 4 and especially 5.
Best I’ve done is 25 about 5 times, I just have to move too much when it comes to the 21+ and the fact they’re random with zero on-screen indication of even which direction you need to go in makes it ludicrous IMO.
The collision setting did help a bit Shadow, but I’m still basically not getting to how I see on videos, I cannot hit target 5 without having move a long way towards it which means I waste precious seconds having to run back to be able to target #7, the one on the balcony.
I have no idea how the players who made the videos get to do what they show, I can’t.
Yes, I’ve seen videos, I see people do it, but frankly life’s too short for this rubbish, I’d not even be trying to do it if if weren’t for the fact Anet tied Masteries to this inanity.
I don’t play games like Halo for a reason, I don’t ‘do’ FPS which is what this crap is.
Thanks for trying to help.
Simple question, how does the game allow buy orders to be placed that are below the minimum sell price?
Happens all the time, gets kind of aggravating when trying to sell a bunch of trash, already having to deal with the asinine “you’ve placed too many sell orders, wait a bit” rubbish, to also waste time trying to “Sell Instantly” only to be told the highest buy price is less than the minimum for the item.
Just an example, “Rampager’s Iron Dagger of Bloodlust”, highest buy price is 1.44, minimum sell is 1.51!
Same is happening right now, stuck at c. 75-80%
Thanks for those pointers.
I don’t have “Adjust camera to character height” set and the other one is default, so I’ll mess with that .. my only doubt about this is that the AC is FINE in normal mode, it’s only when this kitten ed ‘adventure’ decides to for AC on me that the camera screws up.
However, I’ll certainly play with that other setting next time I get to try this.
Thanks.
Being a lover of Druids in WOW .. bull/bears FTW .. I was hugely disappointed when the promise of GW2’s ad-hype turned into the sad reality of the Norn’s shape-shifting skills, as noted by Charrbeque.
As for 200 dollars/pounds/euros, I don’t see any significant numbers being willing to spend that amount on a class so I see no prospect of Anet doing it, especially in view of the fact the Norns ARE GW’s shape-shifters lore-wise the ‘fix’ would be to make them behave like GW2’s pre-release hype made out.
Hmmm, I see a pattern here, Anet advertise one thing pre-release then deliver something seriously different (and inferior) in practice.
So, in normal playing when I select Action Cam the white dot is in the middle of the screen and my character mid-way between the bottom edge and the dot, meaning the camera is a long way off the ground and targeting is fine.
The moment I press F and the game forces me into AC mode the camera plummets to almost ground level with my character now next to the dot.
Targeting the dummies is impossible mostly because the camera is so low I can’t see anything but ground foliage.
The moment I press 0 to exit SG then the AC returns to normal.
How the hell do I stop SG screwing me up like this, I’ll never get silver as I have to spend do much time trying to target the dummies?
Why the hell does it go into AC mode when I AM IN SC MODE before I start the event?
[edit]
So I tried first-person, still useless as I’m an Asura and the camera is still at ground level so the foliage and targeting is still a nightmare. I hate first person mode anyway and never use it in games where I have a choice, but the camera position on small races makes it impossible.
I watched a video of a charr doing it and he had no problems, the dot was well above ground level and so targeting was simply not an issue, he hit the first 7 targets without even having to move much at all.
Is there no was I can do this event in normal mode?

Certainly Amazon UK lists the HOT box:
Product Description
New adventures await you in the heart of the Maguuma Jungle! Confront the growing hordes of Mordremoth’s minions, discover allies from ancient civilizations, and battle new enemies in a vertical world that will have you reaching new heights and hang gliding into the depths of the jungle.
Box ContainsDisc and Manual
We need stat switching on non-legendary items first. At the moment, the more builds you play, the more storage you need. The cost of storage prohibits many from having many sets of gear on their characters.
This game doesn’t require that kind of OCD obsessiveness, if you want to go to that extreme then pay the price.
Thanks for the explanation guys, it makes absolute sense of course when explained, pity the screamer in that event didn’t take a few seconds, even after the phase was over, to explain it instead of being an elitist jerk.
So not for the first time there were screams of “SLOW CC” in the MoM fight at the ‘bomb’ point, but when asked “why? what does it do?” the screamer simply shouted “NOOOOOOBZ”.
What’s special about this fight? Usually people are screaming that the blue bar is going down too slowly, yet in this fight it seems it’s supposed to go down slowly!
I looked carefully and I see nothing IN GAME that indicates this is any different so what is special and how is someone supposed to ‘know’ it and is a ‘noob’ if they don’t?
Don’t worry, they’re changing the fail-to-win aspects soon™.
Seems two months, which is about the time since someone from Anet posted on Reddit that they were thinking of doing something, isn’t long enough for them to think about it.
I have the same result if I show up after map reset. The trick is to show up about 15 mins before the map resets. You’ll land in a map full of people, who squad up and then reconvene on a single map once it resets.
Personally I think the megaserver is a little loopy about this map, because post-reset it always puts you in an empty copy, when I know there are populated copies that aren’t full.
IMO the map reset in DS is asinine, it prevents people getting themselves organised, VB/AB/TD don’t need this stupid mechanic, it simply makes DS more of a PITA than it already is and for no good reason .. though I expect some will spout the usual “work at it” drivel.
HOT shows the severe limitations of the much vaunted megaserver system, a game that relies on a taxi mechanism to get enough players together in order to do the only content available in an expansion (the HOT zone metas) is simply a lousy design.
Oh yes, and hope you don’t get suckered by the griefers who advertise “DS 3 comms taxi” and use it only to find the map’s empty and no commanders at all, they do that for the ‘fun’ apparently.
Getting T4 isn’t helped by the broken event in the main camp’s meta which stalls the entire thing .. it was broken on release and in spite of many reports, posts and tickets Anet simply CBA to fix it it seems.
I’m running something like 15:1 broken to working metas over the last couple of weeks.
So how did you miss the warning popup you get when you add a sigil to something that doing so will make it Account Bound?
I thought I’d bump this since I have a very similar question about LFG.
I assume something like 2,12,50 refers to Fractals that the group wants to do, but what does “P1 Exp” mean?
‘Exp’ could mean ‘experience points’ (wanting to earn XP) or ‘experienced’ (asking for someone who knows the content) but I can’t figure what P1 is (I’ve seen several ‘P’ numbers).
Considering Anet have ignored the by now thousands of posts asking for something different from trenchcoats i think it’s safe to safe they don’t care what we think, we’ll get what they give us and like it.
IC ?
And you’re wrong about 0 protection, I DO have e-mail protection, otherwise I’d not have received this, would I?

Same here, God is my witness I tried to organize separate Tequatl event, but the moderators deleted my post… WHY???
Ill keep sneding countless tickets to fix this… every day every hour… DO YOUR JOBS and fix the kitten pathetic bugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What bugs are you
I too suffered frustration with this, I got it entirely by accident on one character who didn’t need it and tried a long time on another that did.
After getting it of course I now see they’re pretty common and often spawn in the same place, although usually what happens from what I’ve seen in that they spawn and then due to the zerg’s DPS immediately he triggers his first take-off and people just don’t see them.
Whats a twin finger? I have tried twice now and I all see are his four legs and the other tentical fingers.
Not sure what that poster’s referring to, but I’ve seen a whirlpool several times in the same place near a finger …
I always stand in between the two sets of turrets. You’ll know that all around are ‘islands’ which aren’t covered by water, there’s one of these to the right of the reeds (as you’re facing Tequatl) where a Tequatl’s Finger always spawns .. when the fingers spawn they first that appear are those making up the ring which surrounds him, then after a short delay a final one spawns on this ‘island’.
Well, nearly every time I’ve seen a whirlpool it’s spawned right in front of where this single finger spawns (between the finger and Tequatl).
As others have said, it too has an orange disc but there’s no green poison fumes. Also, there a female hylek NPC who shouts out about the whirlpools and “they’re sucking people under”.
It happens very quickly, and frankly if you’re not standing right next to .. or in my case now three times on top of .. where it spawns you’re unlikely to be able to run to it.
It’s not much comfort I know, but I see one at least every three fights. I watched the videos and they all seem to show you need to stand right by his feet, I did that many times and only once did a whirlpool spawn there, whereas the location hope I’ve described seems to be far more reliable.

What bugs are you getting a tad hysterical about, I do this fight two or three times a day, I see whirlpools fairly often .. and it seems instead of posting tickets you may be better off learning to use LFG, there are ALWAYS taxis for every Teq. fight, and even more so now as many who would be doing it are off doing Shatterer .. God knows why Anet deliberately create a schedule when two of the three most popular fights ATM are often at the same time.

It’s PVP, it’s where most of the sociopaths who play MMOs hang out, and yes, Anet do ban but it seems not until the idiot doing it has upset many people.
So I’ve seen this event in VB something like 10+ times and EVERY TIME it stalled at 2/6. Been like this forever, fixt it Anet!
So I sent two mails with 5 items each to a character and now I’m blocked sending the THIRD due to “excessive messaging”.
What’s this insanity?
How long is this ‘suppression’ going to last? It’s been several minutes and still blocked.
[edit]
Guess it’s more facile anti-RMT, like the stupid throttle on posting to the TP, where legit players are ‘collateral damage’ in the war against RMT .. like the reason we don’t have normal MMO trade facilities.
(edited by Kerin.9125)
D’oh, that was intuitive. I did go back to him, expecting a dialog option or something.
Thanks.

Guess I’m stupid, someone please help me.
I have a Roll of Wrapping Paper, I have a Wooden Dagger Skin, how the heck do I create a present? Right-clicking the Paper just gives ‘Destroy’ and neither tool tip actually says HOW to perform the wrapping!

Because terrible F2P games usually kill any chance at 3rd party fansites. People come in, go “THIS ROCKS!”, then hit cap, then see the F2P system, complain on the forums, and then go play something else. Its the cycle of things. Tis why the leveling up experience is less grindy, and the post cap game is all about the grind, unless you spend thousands of dollars on gems, or millions of hours. Your choice.
People on GW2Guru had immense hopes for the game, but after seeing what was advertised as little more than trivial, they all moved on.
Guild Wars 2 was buy to play back then. Not free to play
After a few weeks and the game is in the ‘bargain bin’ then there’s no real difference between B2P and F2P in the context you’re trying to argue.
guru mods banned and infracted any posts that didnt fit with their views and or agenda
As someone above said, albeit about some different aspect of that forum, sounds familiar …

I’m very happy that someone got their exclusive My Little Pony bow but I need an option to silence the ruddy thing!
This high-pitched whine .. it’s not a ‘whinny’ .. is beyond aggravating.
And no, the Sound Effects option isn’kitten I don’t want to silence everything, just ruddy annoying effects from some the the ‘legendary’ weapons.

Okay, I get your point about a ‘glitch’ but if it’s not supposed to kick then it seems otherwise it’s safe.
Thanks.
Can using a Waypoint on the map you are on kick you off the map on to an empty one?
Clearly the map could be full and if you’re unlucky and someone zones in the moment you begin the zoning process you could get kicked off the map, in theory at least.
Is it known if that can ever happen?
Point of my question is Southsun. Given the Karka Queen’s spawn is random it can happen that the last camp cleared in is the NE while the Queen spawns the SW of her spawn area.
Given it’s a LONG run and with the map full zergs we get now the mob’s dead within a minute then it’ll be dead before you reach it.
Seems to be a huge disincentive to take part in the camp clearing only to miss the main mob. If it’s safe to use Waypoints then there’s less risk of that.
There are other cases of similar timing issues but this is the one that occurred to me.
Time to get your uncanny jar if you haven’t gotten it yet.
Requires karma, not sure how much. Just wiki it if you haven’t already gotten it.
Needs more than just karam … sadly also requires a drop from a dungeon and an RNG-based drop in Dry Top .. both a pain.
Dropped
Firefly in a Jar.png Jar of Lost Souls — Ascalonian Catacombs – 3 Silver 16 Copper
Lightning Jar.png Twister in a Jar — Buried Locked Chest in Dry Top or Lost Bandit Chest in The Silverwastes – 66 Silver 50 Copper
There have been many threads on here complaining about the stage IV Hope .. yet within hours of one appearing on Reddit there’s an Anet reply saying they’ll look into it:
MattP:
I’ll start taking a look to see how we can get it changed up quickly.
(edited by Kerin.9125)
So many threads on something like this is … sad.
“Up to 72 hours” seems to mean “almost exactly 72 hours”, twice I found that and others have too.
Since ‘fun’ is entirely a personal view not sure how others can tell you whether your view of ‘fun’ coincides with theirs.
Personally I much prefer non-human races in most games, often I love the ‘halfling’ races like Asura in this one, or beasts like Charr. I find humans generally boringinly rendered, at times embarrassingly so, and many seem to play female humans in this game then give them movie-star hairdos and wear the skimpiest of clothing possible .. I guess it shows a large demographic the game appeals to.
Racial skills are entirely ignoreable, Anet deliberately made them less potent that skills chosen/earned while playing.
No idea if Warrior is ‘broken’ or not, it’s not a class I often play in MMOs, I prefer ranged .. eZmode Ranger FTW! .. or casters and in GW2 I love the Mesmer as it’s a play-style I’ve not really found in any other RPG, MMO or offline.
You just don’t want to wait.
Key thing here.
HoT isn’t a game full of grind. It’s a game full of long term goals.
But people want things now, so they try to get those long term goals as if they were short term goals. This results in the sensation that the game is ‘full of grind’.
Actually, many people simply want to be able to use the Elite skill the HOT ads made a prominent feature of but failed to mention the huge time it takes to actually be able to fully use it.
The ads for HOT didn’t call this a “long term goal”.
Just for that I’m tempted to sell my 2 stacks of 250 a copper each…
posts like these makes me sick…
some people are:
a) unable to complete JP due to physical disabilities
b) unable to complete JP because their hand coordination is just not on par
c) truly truly truly hate JPThey can’t create game in favor of people with disability. You have WoW for that, and see where WoW has gone after nerf-ing everything to the ground. If they start making content for people with disability,we would have nothing to play. Some people cant do content at all,due to their issues. Some people cant do Fractals or raids due to their disability…Some people cant do heart because of disability…this game is not meant to be for people with disability.
I feel sorry for those people, because i had to take care of them for one year, and i got to know lots of people in person, but that doesn’t give me for right to ask for MAJOR change,to mess up other people’s game.
People with disability have other game to play, that suits them.
I do not play JP because i do not like them.We did not have jumping in GW,so they decide to make up for big, big, big big failure.
Your comments left me unable to post a reply .. anything I wrote would be deleted and I’d get infracted.
When you regularly speed run this puzzle you can find all kinds of small shortcuts, patterns in the exploding presents, timing of the snowflake respawns, etc. There’s absolutely a puzzle aspect to it.
I would agree with that, the thing I hate about this that the OP mentions is the forced nature of it caused by the disappearing platforms.
I love the JPs in this game, many I can’t do, which is fine, but this added ‘feature’ means there’s no time to even pause to think especially with so many other players around.
The worst thing though IMO is the amount of time you need to queue to actually get into it, took me literally 20 mins to get in with many failed zone loads due to max players.
Why isn’t this instanced like everything else with multiple copies when player numbers are exceeded?
Wait, what? You want to replace grind by even more grind?
Only for those activities he doesn’t want to do or those he loves so doesn’t consider a grind, obviously.
TL;DR on OP’s post: nerf the things I DO want to do and make what I don’t want to do a lot more effort to ‘balance’ it.
The reason it takes so long to get the gems is to prevent fraud, gold seller can buy accounts on a bogus cards trade the gems for gold and sell that gold in minutes and sometime it can take a couple of days to check if a card is legit. Anet is just protecting their interests and the game economy.
Which is fine, but their wording of up to gives people the expectation (totally reasonably IMHO) that in all probability unless there’s some sort of glitch or a sudden rush it won’t take that long.
Managing expectations is an important communication skill, something often lacking it seems.
I’ve been DCed on Teq. using Virgin, and yes, since ANet’s servers don’t record the server you were DCed from then getting back to an empty map is quite likely, it’s what happened to me.
I have two ISP connections, Virgin’s 100Mb and BT 80Mb Infinity and often play two accounts one on each ISP. I’ve seen cases where a tracert from the BT service and that from VM reach a common hop on the main Internet route from me to Anet, BT’s trace is fine for the next hop along while the one from the VM connection shows packet loss.
Since this isn’t VM nor VM’s upstream provider VM can’t do anything even if they wished to.
Knowing about Internet routing and having a casual knowledge of BGP I can only surmise that somehow VM’s routing is somehow affecting things before this hop but it’s impossible to know where due to the way tracert works.
However, even using BT I have seen lag spikes >1s even while the tracert shows nothing, these are clearly server-based and often happen (when they do) right at the point a world event starts.
