The above reminds me of a incident I read shortly after launch where someone aggro’d a stone elemental. He ran away but the mob didn’t leash. It kept running after him.

Eventually he remembered it was his elite elementalist skill.

Heh did something similar with a friend waaay back. We were fighting the champion spider that guards the rich platinum in sparkfly fen. In the middle of the fight one of us said “looks like some people have came to join us”. Then a few seconds later … “no those are just your clones”.

Terrible idea, the TP is a godsend for the usual churn and getting a hold of whatever isn’t bound.

I do agree with others though, I wouldn’t mind the -additional- option to do direct trades like in GW1. I have guild mates I’ve run with a long time, but if a precursor dropped and they wanted to buy, I don’t -know- they wouldn’t stiff me on a mail based trade (nor do they know I wouldn’t), so we’re forced to go TP and burn a chunk of coin on the middleman for what should have simply been a direct barter.

On the other hand scams of that nature still occurred in GW1 with that trading system. How do you propose a foolproof way of avoiding that?

That sounds more like hate for mace than love. That will be a crappy weapon for boss fights and all it does with trash mobs is spread them out making trash clearing slower.

That…sounds pretty awful, at least to me. I prefer the current method.

It is awful. It is also very ugly. The first game I encountered this was in Ragnarok Online. Merchants cluttering up the screen everywhere. Down the line on private servers they implemented a search feature. That only made it marginally better. They also put in rules to limit where you can put a shop(in addition to the general reduction from having a much smaller population) so the ugly clutter was improved slightly as well.

Then I ran into the same in Wakfu. Same ugliness but now with loading screen for every shop visited!

More recently it was Tree of Savior(same designer as RO and purposely made to be something like an unofficial sequel) still had that but more for services like providing buffs.

All the implementations have ever done is waste time and make the game world uglier.

Mace is a defensively oriented weapon on both warrior and guardian. It is useful wherever their defensive properties are useful. Mace does performs its role pretty well on both.

Mace is the only main hand condi option for rev. Torment is underwhelming in PvE.

Is it worth to do story multiple times ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

Depends exactly on what you want from it and which story. Like for example with the one current meta that was added, IF you do HoT story 5 times with different characters, then you do the short mini collection to repair a sword, You’ll end up with 5 free ascended weapons. But if you just wanted those 5 skins, then you can do 1 HoT story plus the mini collection, then use unbound magic to change it to get the other skins.

The first of those weapons is free. The other 4 would not be free unless you have a very weird definition of free that involves a bunch of gold(around 70g when I was checking a while ago).

Question: how old are the various 50/100 MC “sub-legendary” skins, like the skins made to look like ele bundle weapons or the weapons wielded by phantasms? Were they put in at a time when demand was dropping, to keep the demand high?

Most of those have been in the game since launch.

Khisanth.2948

The problem with that advice is that more the people that follow it the worse it becomes.

So far, the evidence doesn’t support that. Whenever someone tries to manipulate the market (e.g. by buying up the existing supply at 1-2 g), people with “extra” start selling off some of their supply and the price returns to the existing equilibrium.

It could be a problem in the future; I think we can wait to see if it becomes one rather than borrowing trouble.

That is not following the advice. Trying to manipulate the market is a completely different thing. It would only take around 75 people attempting to make HoT legendaries to buy out the entire current supply on the TP if we assume they all follow the advice and just farm gold then buy the coins.

Khisanth.2948

ArenaNet has already confirmed that supply is outpacing demand. The issue is that you don’t want to wait or buy them.

This statement is essentially the same as “there is a lot of money in the economy and the banks are flooded with cash, you just happen to be poor.”

I’m saying that there should be a way to actively farm this material, and thus allowing “hardworking” people to get more of them, instead of freely given to people who may not need them but get them anyway just by logging in, and yet never sells them because the price is expected keep going up.

There IS a method for a “hardworking” person to obtain more mystic coins, and the secret will blow your mind!

It’s this…

<drum roll>

Step one, do any dang thing you want in the game.

Step two, sell the loot you get for gold.

Step three, purchase mystic coins from the trading post for gold.

…and bam, your hard work got turned into more mystic coins! Magic!

Yes, I know, for whatever reason you think is entirely valid, “earn gold, buy coins” isn’t what you want to do. Either you want to directly farm them, for no really good reason other than “I prefer that”, or you imagine the farm will be less costly in terms of time than earning enough gold to get what you want.

…and it’s fine to say that, but seriously, don’t predicate your argument on “impossible” when it is absolutely, completely possible.

The problem with that advice is that more the people that follow it the worse it becomes.

In some cases you don’t need to full unlock the grandmaster traits either.

On the other hand some people make the mistake of slotting in the elite spec as soon as it is unlocked. Now you end up missing a trait line while attempting to content intended to be more difficult. Not exactly an ideal setup.

Although maybe it is just the general “issue” of markers not appearing until after you are close enough to it even after you have already uncovered/unfogged the region they are in.

I agree that it’s not actually a good deal for new players, and should probably be revisited by the store team. I’m inclined to think it’s more likely to cause regrets than gladness.

Adding a wardrobe unlock, or a home harvesting node, seem more likely to encourage new players to care about some of the otherwise not so “pushed” system in the game, or possibly a miniature unlock token?

small guild problem

They OP isn’t saying he wants it handed to him on a platter. He is just saying that is beyond painfully difficult for someone like him to do anything with his guild as it is main just him and very occasionally a friend.

The OP and others in this thread may personally feel that it is “beyond painfully difficult” to “do anything with his guild” but that’s simply not true. As myself and others have pointed out, it isn’t that difficult to make good progress on your guild hall. Many missions are soloable, and the only ‘difficult’ point would be the amount of materials that are needed for certain GH upgrades. This isn’t a roadblock so much as it is a speed limit. You’re only going to make as much progress on guild unlocks as the time and effort you put into it.

Myself and many others have made significant progress on their guild halls with only one or two people donating materials. Is it expensive? Sure. But there are lots of ways to make gold in this game, and if you truly want to upgrade your guild hall on your own or with only one or two friends, you should expect that it’s going to be a slower process than if you had 50 other players contributing.

Another factor is that the guild with 200 might only have around the same number of people contributing as the one with 5.

You need 25 HoT hero challenges to max out an elite spec.

There are 20 soloable. Could be a bit higher depending on skill level.

There are at least 6 that are easily doable with 2 people.

At least from looking at the math it seems fine to me.

Not every idea comes from the client, especially when innovating otherwise GW2 would simply be a re-skinned GW1 aka this thread. Sometimes vision and courage of your convictions is involved – anyone still use a blueberry?

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Sounds great … assuming you actually understand at least some of the things that needs to be done.

It’s like someone setting out to build a better suspension bridge without understanding any of the engineering princples just because they think they have a great idea.

WvW does NOT give you exp but the reward tracks give you Tomes of Knowledge

The Experience Booster will increase reward progress so it does indirectly increase your experience gain in WvW.

WvW rank gain is a separate thing that doesn’t have anything to do with character levels. If your goal is gaining level using the Birthday Booster in there is wasteful.

Captured the GH with 5. We are currently lv67. Favor is literally the least important thing. More important is having lots of stuff or enough gold to buy that stuff. You should definitely browse through the items used for upgrades and make a note of them. Especially the account bound things like Silverwastes Shovels.

In addition to the missions people have mentioned Blightwater Shatterstrike and Branded for Termination guild challenges can also be done with a small number of people. In fact for Blightwater Shatterstrike doing it with a small amount of people is much easier than a big group. The coordination is less of an issue and the mobs aren’t scaled up to deal stupid amounts of damage.

Could be like T6 nodes where if you harvested them within 6 hours before reset then you have to wait the full 24 hours.

Each set of two seem to be implemented as a node farm like the flax farm in VB.

If you get extra gather attempts on the first node but you move to the second node then the first will disappear after you gather from the second node. This is the same behavior as node farms which also has the same respawn behavior as what you described.

For Vipers, it’s more or less a choice of crafting, or the various armor reward boxes you can get through HoT gameplay. Not just VB, since, eg, the leyline gear from the Dragon Stand meta also allows viper stat selection.

Mostly, though, once you have the mastery, you can buy almost all of it for map currency and gold from the Itzel mastery vendors or the Whispers Keeper in Dragon Stand

Bladed from VB only has Berserker, Carrion, Cleric, Dire, Rampager, Shaman as choices.

Leystone from DS is always Wanderer stat.
