The dialog that appears when any of the salvage-o-matic gizmos are used fills up the entire height of the screen making it impossible to click on the buttons bellow to salvage stuff.

Happens regularly to me on my copper salvage-o-matic since the last patch.

It is a bit annoying but not actually impossible but it might just depend on what resolution you play at. I ran into it yesterday in Bitterfrost Frontier. There was still around a quarter of the button sticking out that could be clicked.

Every skill triggers the shark, auto attack included..
The shark triggers with critical hits, my necro is viper and I get the shark animation all the time hehe makes the fractal more enjoyable when I see hundreds of sharks bitting the jellyfish boss lol
Its the best underwater legendary imo, much better than the others underwater wep

Not on every skill. #3 does not trigger the shark. There isn’t any class that triggers the shark with every skill. Every class does get a shark on at least one skill though. Ranger is probably worst off in that regard but one of its skills already comes with its own shark and another has a jellyfish.

The nodes wouldn’t need to be all that common. The consumption of those resources is still massive, so adding few nodes here and there would not make them worthless.

As for impacting the prices – yes, that’s the idea behind a farm. As i said already, the farm that does not impact prices is a failed design.

and presumably they aren’t going to replicate Pagga’s cluster of elder wood nodes either …

I’d like to know how Anet thinks anyone playing outside of US prime time is every going to get the Shard or the Watchtower PoI now. I tried to help people get up there, tagged up and all…and we were five. And that’s after putting our group up in LFG and advertising in map chat. Needless to say, we didn’t even make it halfway up the hill.

There are actually two places you can get the shard from near that tower. One is further up and fairly close the back route.

I’l keep that in mind, thanks for the hint.

Still, I’ll take today’s disaster as an indication that the area is pretty much dead. I’ve been running various alts through Doric for shard farming, and over the last couple of days I haven’t seen a single comm or mentor tag in that area. :/

As far as I can tell it’s been like that since the engi farm anyway so this isn’t much of a change.

Adding nodes would add too much supply without any effort. Well, actually, maybe it could work if they did some gauntlet that relied on personal skill to access the nodes along the path which players couldn’t bypass with mesmer portals. It would of course need to be timegated.

and then it would be yet another failure. Reminds me of the blooming passiflora node in ember bay guarded by at least one veteran bristleback along with a bunch of non-vets

Nowhere else in the game that I can think of do you consistently have as many mobs that respawn that fast, so Anet didn’t have any experience with that combination of mechanics. So they get a point for lacking experience with the combination, but they lose a point for apparently not brainstorming about the consequences – and the possible counters – of that combination.

You mean besides all the other previous incidents of people AFKing with pets and minions? Those were happening long before Lake Doric came out.

With GW2 combat, from the beginning almost, often the only lesson to learn is that you shouldn’t have entered combat. Entering combat was your only mistake. And then you die.

That is simply not true. Yesterday I could literally watch people learning at Golem Mark II. You died because of electric fields on the ground? Oh, better move out of them next time. Ah, red circle, I know what to do. Oh kitten, even bigger red circle, so I have to dodge twice in a row, better save up my endurance. Alright, so this machine gun circle shower again, get closer to the golem. Now the rotation starts again…

People learn at Golem? Hard to believe. Too dead people on a consistent basis. GW2 would be growing at an incredible rate if it was getting that many new people all the time.

I don’t subscribe to the thought that something needs to be complex to be challenging. It’s the lazy way of design.

We don’t subscribe to that notion either. I do believe however that it is acceptable for some fractals to be more complex than others, especially ones that are part of an important arc. It is also true that a more complex challenge is not necessarily a lazy design. What is most important to us is that each fractal provides a unique and interesting challenge, and we have to be aware that not every challenge will appeal to every player.

Legendary collections instead of grind?

What the collections offer is smoke and mirrors to hide the total cost.

As for grind … well that is all on you. If you want to rush it then yeah that is going to require some grind.

The OP is saying they like the smoke, they like the mirrors. What they don’t like is just coming up with mats for no reason.

I would go further and say that the “smoke & mirrors” are the collections I did NOT like – the silly master crafting ones that just had you dump a stupid amount of materials. Collections that take you out into the world I would not classify as smoke/mirrors at all, but that’s just my opinion. :-)

It looks like the smoke and mirrors did an extremely good job since you seem to have forgotten the other tiers that requires ascended materials. Such as the deldrimor steel ingots that go into making the flasks for HOPE’s t3 collection.

Oh also exclusive to the HoT legendary is the recipe sheets. “Oh looks like I got all the materials, lets just toss them into the forg… NOPE looks like I need to spend another 80g on recipe sheets first -_-”.

I didn’t like these, but there are other collections that took me out into the world to collect frozen water samples, chunks from ice elementals, and stuff like that. I loved those, and they felt like they made sense, thematically!

In many cases they just reused existing content. It’s not very interesting if you’ve already done those things a dozen times already. In some cases multiple collections also overlap. Nice if you are doing them in parallel. Potentially a bit annoying when done in serial.

The collections for the precursors are often more costly than just straight up buying. Then on top of that you often have to do other stuff too like Dry Top for the geodes or various fractals or wait around for events.

What the collections offer is smoke and mirrors to hide the total cost.

As for grind … well that is all on you. If you want to rush it then yeah that is going to require some grind.

Short of the bugged event that I ran into, I’ve enjoyed the process to get Storm. I prefer long term goals that I can split into smaller chunks. Outright buying the precursor or gambling didn’t have any smaller chunks really.

I don’t care if it cost me more in time and/or gold to make it via the collections. I’ve enjoyed it a lot more than opening my wallet or spending ages grinding for gold or ages gambling.

See that is all fine up until someone is also complaining about grind. Grind grind grind and more grind but then extol the virtues of the method that requires more resources which logically speaking would require more time grinding to acquire.

Not true. At all. You can get the accessories and trinkets but armor rarely if ever drops.
You will get stuck at around level 50-55. You can’t go further because you don’t have enough slots for the agony resist. I speak from personal experience. The only way to go further is to start slotting +11s into your gear and that gets really expensive/dumb. I did tier 2 fractals (dailies plus others) for 3 months and only found 2 rings and 1 weapon during that time. No armor whatsoever.

Like I said before, a lot of of folks saying they get ascended gear like candy probably already have 1 or more ascended sets. You don’t actually start getting them with any degree of regularity (and even then its pretty kitten rare) until T4 fractals and raids (which I haven’t done but I’ve heard you can acquire them from there easily).

You can get all the way through t3 with just trinkets.
Trinkets provide 2(back) + 2 accessory + 6(rings) slots.

Using +9 infusions you get 90 AR. You can get another 15 Anguished Tear of Alba. Scale 75 which is the last in t3 requires 106. One AR short isn’t going to make a huge difference and you can just stick a +10 somewhere if you think it matters.

No Loyalty Bonus

Khisanth.2948

We need to update the loyalty pip description.

You need to earn at least 75 pips for 3 weeks in a row to earn the loyalty bonus. We wanted players to have to participate in skirmishes to be considered loyal.

Hello, I’m not quite clear on this.

So you need to get
75+ pips on week 1
75+ pips on week 2
75+ pips on week 3

And then so long as you remain on the server, you will get the loyalty bonus?
Or will the streak reset if you miss a week, and you need to do all 3 again?

Needing to earn 100+ pips weeks 1, 2 and 3 is correct. If you miss a week you will need to do all 3 again.

*Edit: It should be 100 pips not 75. So you need to complete all of Wood Tier for 3 weeks.

I dont agree with that i’m sorry.

Just being on the same server for 3 weeks should net you the bonus pip.

I agree. It was supposed to discourage transfers, not stop people from taking a week off. Please change this.

Well… because it suits me very well, and I think it’s an awesome game. I’m not trying to salvage a game that I think is broken. I’m trying to suggest a way to make a great game even better. And it doesn’t have to be through ANY sort of an item treadmill at all. The suggestion I made in the last post was to have stats that can only go so high (and never higher). But place a tiny portion of those stats in T4 fractals and the first raid wing.

You still have your ETERNAL stat-ceiling. But you also have a small incentive to push yourself through content that requires a lot of effort. So, the example I gave was that, if the highest you can get your unbuffed power was 3027… put gear accounting for 25 points of that total in T4 fractals, and gear accounting for 25 points of that total in the first raid wing.

So what happens after people complete that? Realize that you’ve just spent dev time to accomplish absolutely nothing?

I am playing… it’s just my lil tushie isn’t on the chair. In fact, most of the time when I step away…afk…I am not really gone… I check my screen often so my turrets stay up.

And, I do farm by running around and salvaging. But, in the summer I can’t farm in high end areas because … this time of year…it’s very difficult / time consuming to find a spot to not die. I have to run until I can find a nook or such – so, mid-farm…go find safe spot (if I go to char select, I’m killed when I re-log), then when I get back I have to back-track to continue the farm. So, I lose a lot of game time.

I know I’m probably more of an exception, but it was nice to be able to go to the bathroom and not have to find a “hidey hole”.

That only take two key press. F12, Enter. Alternatively … dying doesn’t really matter.

Revert back to allowing guilds to be small

Guilds are “allowed” to be small. There’s nothing that prevents a solo guild from building up a guild hall — many people have done so. I’m sure those numbers are a far cry from those who had ‘maxed’ guilds before HoT, because back then, you could buy all the upgrades, with coin.

Not just before HoT. Before February 26, 2013 because after that various upgrades requires guild merit which are similar to favor.
