The other common cause of being stuck in combat is applying a non-damaging condition to an ambient creature. They can’t attack you and they are easy to miss.

Extra gathering strikes bugged?

I noticed, awhile before the loss of Power of the Mists, that I gathered 10 items from Rich Veins with only 3 strikes (i.e. stopped needing that fourth swing). I thought it odd, but nothing worth reporting or posting about. Perhaps, a change happened back then to gathering in general. /shrug

You do this 4th swing with almost every permanent gathering pickaxe (except the one you only get in bundle for 2400 gems and the one you get unbound magic with). You still have this strike. You also have the chance for extra mats with the banner so i think its just the WVW change.

Banners gives increased chance for rare materials like gemstones when mining. Currently the only thing still giving a chance for extra strike is the Item/Heroic booster

You might; I did not. Not only that, I did not specify using Permanent Gathering Tools.

That was just a change to some of the gathering tools a while back. They made the third strike give you two items at once. Unfortunately it was not retroactively applied to the older permanent tools.

Extra gathering strikes bugged?

Someone suggested to me that it’s due to the WvW PVE buff removal, but that can’t account for this complete lack. Even on the days just after reset I formerly could expect a node or two across all my characters to get another strike. But now nada, not one.

That assumes there is a greater than 0% chance for extra strikes as a baseline. The extra gathering chance is not mentioned anywhere else in the game so there is no reason to assume there is a non-zero baseline.

When Power of the Mists was around the minimum was 2% even right after reset.

People like the idea that there’s some stuff that you can’t just get with a big wallet (whether RL or in-game) and others dislike the idea that most of the stuff we get from dedication to the game is available via multiple sources.

I guess it is true that a big wallet alone wouldn’t be enough since you would also have to be someone who is willing to pay ridiculous prices for things.

Squad not listed in LFG

Khisanth.2948

I’m confused. While one can see commanders on the map and /squadjoin them (if free to join), LFG doesn’t auto list any squad a commander has made, does it?

So when perusing the LFG panel you’d only see the squads that have deliberately and manually created an LFG entry.

Squads neither autolist nor autodelist although the delisting would be a nice feature for when the commander leaves the squad.

  • Players can get loot without going near the mob’s corpse if they own HoT and have gotten through the Pact Commander Mastery line. The last Mastery in that line gives true auto-loot, as in auto-deposit to inventory.

Even without owning HoT there is the AoE loot keybind. IIRC that has a 900 range radius.

There is also a champ at the beginning of 3 different fractals: molten boss, mai trin, and urban battleground. There are also a couple in thaumanova but those aren’t meant to be fought.

TD Event Issue "Take the young beetles on...

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

I am not replying to state that this bug has been resolved.

Just wanted to make that clear. However I did find out what was causing the bug. The event “detects” a number of chak near the beetles, however it detects the chak in 3 dimensions. Since there are bridges in the cave where it takes place, the event can detect chak far above the floor of the cave where the event takes place. This should be fixed since the point of the event is for the beetles to kill the chak for “practice” and the event group will never go up any of the levels to get the beetles.

It is actually not a case of detecting the ones above. The problem is that the event is spawning those mobs on the floors above. This error in the way the game spawns event mobs is much more clearly seen when it happens with https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stop_sun_zealots_from_indoctrinating_the_Itzel and it spawns the mobs on the area where you fight Mayatl which is normally empty.

Would you like to see more "realistic" sets?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

I agree with the sentiment behind the OP’s request, but not any of the specifics: I mostly hated GW1 armor because it was either too plain or too ornate; there was anything in between. The cheap assassin armor looks like PJs; the expensive has all the blades and spikes that the OP (and I) dislike.

I also don’t think it’s a question of “realistic” versus not; “realistic” includes a lot of uglier designs.

However, I think the root problem is that there are just too many possible designs and not enough designers in the universe to come close to covering all of my design preferences, let alone a decent cross section of the entire community.

From a practical standpoint realistic also means plain. Ain’t nobody going to wear ornate armor into actual combat on purpose. Any that you see IRL are either for ceremonial purposes only or worn by people who stay faaaaar away from any actual fighting.

There certainly won’t be something like WvW or even single map instances for Australia, but the potential is there now more than ever. The goal of this experiment is likely only to gauge its power, which could potentially reduce server lag under stress and open up more complex possibilities, including higher caps.

Not sure how experimental it is meant to be. It is being used for at least one of the WvW borderlands right now and it seems to be getting used for more and more zones.

Khisanth.2948

Every year I check back to see whether or not you have AU servers. 300 ping is not playable, this is literally the only reason my friends won’t buy the game and I won’t buy the expansion. They don’t even need to be in Australia just give me an option that’s sub 150 and I’d buy the expansion that day.

We just have to find a way to pay for ANet to add a new data center, and sell enough new copies of the game to have six distinct WvW worlds. ANet’s done a lot with their server tech, but they haven’t figured out a way for accounts in different data centers to play together (due to the same latency issues that frustrate your gameplay).

They can just ignore WvW … but the timing of this is interesting.

ANet has started to run game instances on Amazon EC2 and one of the regions available for EC2 is located in Sydney. At least as far as “hardware” is concern that is dealt with.

Fighting more elder dragons would not make sense unless Taimi was wrong and it would also means that ultimately our character made the wrong choice at the end of Flashpoint.

If we are going to the Crystal Desert/Vabbi/Desolation/etc. then we are also going to be fighting Palawa Joko. Which means more undead but smarter ones this time.

Well, at launch it was a lot more hectic. You needed a group of five and were likely to wipe thanks to the constant waves of mobs on small fighting platforms. Even the tedious end part of firing the lasers had wurms sprouting out of the deck (gotta wonder how, there not being a lot of burrowing room in a metal deck) to force you off the lasers to deal with them or die of poison.

The poison is still there.

As for not making sense … have you ever observed dredges on the platform in the middle of dredghaunt or in the underground fractal?

I tend to enjoy overcoming ridiculous odds for the joy of it over loot, but I do understand the perspective of those who just want to get it done.

That seems to be missing an important point. Challenges presented by the game(developers) aren’t treated the same was as challenges as a result of lackluster teammates.

Have you killed Bloom Hunger? It’s not exactly taxing…

TD Event + Bloodstone Wyvern Overlap Issue

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Khisanth.2948

The blood crazed wyvern can also spawn at 2 other places, 3 if you count the other cliff separately. One can overlap with one of the other Legendary wyverns so many that is not quite an improvement.

Could have grabbed some eggs and finished off that event. Not sure how well or badly that event scales for the number of eggs that need to be collected.

You are also describing an event in VB while the title says TD. Doing it in TD other way to avoid the overlap.

I’m not sure exactly what you mean by a “vignette.” Do you have an example, or can you describe it better?

If it is more screen clutter, I’d lean towards the negative. Perhaps an option to enlarge the boons displayed below would help? I dunno, you can have so many…

Maybe the OP means a “border” around the screen? Like Necro’s shroud (green border) or low HP (red glowing border). I think blindness has a dark border, that’s why the OP mentioned it? I personally hate these borders and want to turn them off, lol. They are annoying and the red glowing one makes me dizzy.

Yeah … and they feel like they reduce combat awareness. Appropriate for Blind, not so much for other stuff.

New player, Level 80 Boost

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

What I learned is that with your boost you won’t have enough hero points to immediately unlock your elite spec, but if you level to 80 you do.

That is a bit of a misleading statement. It’s not like leveling to 80 gets you more points, it’s just that when boosting you haven’t gone out to do any of the hero challenges yet. There difference is just a matter of experiencing the hero challenges as a lv80 or as a not yet lv80. In the case of communes there would be absolutely no difference in most cases. For the fighting ones it would be a bit easier with a lv80.

TD meta and LFG commanders

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

The other problem with the HoT metas is commanders asking non-participants to leave the map. Yes, I should stop what I’m doing in the middle of an event and go to a different map where the event might not even be happening at this time or will stop in the middle because I have to start over again so won’t be finished before the meta starts.

The HoT metas were a terrible idea.

When the meta starts it causes all current events to fail. That is the case for VB turning to night/day. AB when the challenges start up and TD when the first timer starts counting. If you are in the middle of doing a HP then it continues but there is no problem with finishing an HP first and if you can’t finish in 5minutes then you run into the HP’s time limit anyway.

Leaving the map when the transition occurs leaves more than enough time for people to taxi in. That is also a reason for leaving the LFG up …

I believe that losing socketed items is the intended behavior, based on the ArenaNet-written note attached in game to the Capacitor item.

On the other hand Spinal Blades always had "NOTE: Cannot be used in the Mystic Forge if transmuted. " despite never being entirely true. The change to the capacitor happened around 6 months ago.
