Archranis, welcome to the confusing world of GW2 that lacks any tutorial and isn’t self-explanatory. Good thing there are veterans you can ask.

For instance, it took me a while to understand that all effects applied to allies do affect the user as well.

Not all but most. Engi elixir gun skill 3 which cleanses condi’s off allies does not work for the user which should be a crime!

But you are correct, it takes time to figure things out here unless asking lol or using the wiki and let’s face it, even the wiki can be confusing at times.

heh but that is only because there is no way to point the gun at yourself. if you could somehow stand int it’s cone it will remove it from you too

You should be able to obtain another Spider Silk Insulation from Grandmaster Craftsman Hobbs in Lion’s Arch. He’ll have a conversation option for misplaced legendary crafting components. This will only work if you have deleted the item, so double check that it isn’t squirreled away in your bank somewhere!

Pretty sure it works even without deleting. I’ve seen items show up there that I know are either in my bank or on a different character. I’ve never tried purchasing extras though so maybe you get stopped at that final step.

Not sure that’s a workaround, to be honest. I believe that you need to go through all the content with the original unlock character or it won’t count for the achievement. Then again, I could be wrong, so please keep us posted!

That has nothing to do with buying crowbars which are probably the easiest key to obtain already.

I have more than double that amount of airship parts and I’ve spent plenty and I have yet to see that staff drop(I have gotten the hammer though) so good luck with that …

From a customer standpoint it’s almost unplayable. I find this to be a very disturbing response in light of future maps and of course the XPac.

Sorry if my previous post was unclear. There are several issues being discussed and most are bugs, not features.

In the screenshot you posted, though, I do not see blocky shadow artifacts, missing lights, or excessive darkness.

The only thing that jumps out at me, compared to other maps, is the use of color grading in that area. I’ll attach an image of the effect on and off to show what I’m talking about. The color grading is responsible for increasing saturation and darkening up the shadows. So, darks are darker in some cases, but not due to missing lights or broken shadows.

Does this sound like what you find amiss? Or is there something else that I am not picking up?

Well with any of the original set you can just buy the precursor. That is mostly true for the “third” set as well(Eureka, Shooshadoo, HMS Divinity, cake on a stick).

I’m honestly not familiar with this, what is/was the issue?

It is the only tool that gives an extra resource when used, in this case, sprockets. Those can be sold to other players. Many were the P2W shouts that went with the debut of that pick.

Here the extra resource is a currency, but one that can be turned into coin.

That said, I do like the tools but watching the Dulfy video it looks like you get the foraged resource at the end of the animation which means I’ll still prefer the golf-swing ones (Consortium and fire) for the smoothest gathering of clumps of plants. I’ll have to decide if the bundle is worth the cash given that I don’t like the sickle and don’t need the loose magic gather skill.

The bundle is 300 gems cheaper than the separate ones although if you don’t want the other two it’s not actually saving you anything.

Eh … I did one where I just used whatever the level up rewards gave to see how things would work. It worked fine but I don’t see anything special about the attempt at being a snowflake.

Heh the Caudecus fight was easy on my mesmer and guardian. Mesmer because of reflect. Just drop wardens on him and Temporal Curtain when you want to get a skill off without being interrupted. Guardian just facetanked through the whole thing with healing symbols and AH…

During the first two flight phases in Hearts and Minds you can also continue to attack Mordremoth with ranged attacks. Not a big deal but I can usually take off another 1% of health. Speeds things up a tiny bit.

…And apparently they changed it so now you can join them under the shield instead of using the vents and fly.

Sorry this is going a bit off topic, but is this confirmed? I’m prepping to do this fight and all the guides I’ve found indicate that gliding is necessary. However, they could all have been done before the change.

It is. I did it a couple times since the change. Gliding is still necessary for Migraine mode which is also significantly harder than normal and not meant to be solo … probably.

PS why do you need to bother with Tyria map rewards for your legendary? As far as I know, you can obtain everything except bandit crests & geodes from other sources (which is how I do it — farming makes me fall asleep).

They are a bit nicer if you want to focus on a specific t6.

…because that is what I understand, and if so, it sounds like working as intended, not a bug. eg: you can unlock all chests once per successful meta that you participate in.

Except that is not true. You can load into AB from anywhere besides a failed octovine and still be able to loot everything. I’ve only ran into it once or twice so far since I don’t spend much time in AB and I didn’t care enough to write down any of the details involved.

Participation has never been required. If participation is supposed to be required then it should be all or nothing not partial.

Well they are bows that have a bow string which looks like a bowstring. There was also a time when bows just had no string.

No there is a bug possibly related to loading from a failed instance to a successful instance that will cause all great/grand chests to appear as already opened. This may or may not be permanent until reset.

Alternatively failing it once might cause all of them to be stuck in that state for the rest of the day.

As I’ve said, I haven’t done enough AB to work out the details.

Shows all the bows and their bow string. Storm Bow has the same string as kudzu. The string on plasma longbow makes it look a bit like a rubberband.

I mean even if you get 50 per DS that’s 12 DS for a set of leadership runes, i mean that’s not a LOT but that’s 12 hours of game play, bit excessive IMHO.

You haven’t played during the first months of the expansion. You got about 30-40 ores back then. It took quite a bit to make a legendary.

Actually Crystalline Ores were still fairly easy since they always had the at least 1 per pod. Ley line sparks were there horrible one …

It is not uncommon for squads there to be set to allow anyone to invite. On the other hand some commanders are just that dense.

Those things have always been hostile. They turn friendly either after you get close enough to the door or bring one of them down low enough in health. Never had a need to try to figure out the trigger.

It’s funny because that’s how I feel about flat maps, which are all the same, thus boring. Multi-tiered maps are actually different. And some of my favorite maps in the game.

I mean I see no real similarity between Bloodstone Fen, Verdant Brink, Tangled Depths and Draconis Mons. Not sure what you think is similar.

I could state at least one similarity with TD, DM, and to a lesser degree VB:

Getting to events is obnoxious.

Then again, Dry Top is equally an offender, just from its convoluted wall structure and utter lack of events.

So yeah, I feel OP’s frustration too.

DT doesn’t have a lack of events. It has synchronized events which can result in large gaps in having events being available. The synchronized events are good for pushing up the tier because many events can be finished in parallel but terrible for anyone trying to do events. Unfortunately pushing up a tier for +1 geode is nowhere near as good as +100% geode by having an additional event completed.

The problem isn’t with the area but with the map, they need to rethink/redesign the minimap and overworld maps in to something that more clearly shows vertical space.

So far Draconis Mons is the only area that has done a really horrible job with that. The map only handles 3 layers but some areas have more than 3 layers. As a result there is no way to look at certain locations in the map without being in the area. One of the spots is at the destroyer event that takes place near Broadleaf.

You can also walk to most of the places in Draconis Mons. It takes a lot longer to do so but you can still walk to (or fall on in come cases) most places

Ancient Hollow Propagation not functioning as intended, blocking progress. Ticket sent, but I’m not the only one having this issue with this spot.

You are no where near Ancient Hollows in that screenshot. You are at the spot for https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Propagation_of_the_Fire_Orchid which is part of the previous collection.

There are a bunch of lasers at the end of the puzzle when you are fighting the golems. After the golems are defeated the lasers also deactivate. There is a panel near the golems that triggers the start of the fight with the golems. You might have to wait for the JP to reset.

Your screenshot shows that you are missing Rata Arcanum Propagation but you are standing at the location for Nu II Propagation .

Last time I tested the command I think it also mentioned having to be out of combat but that was in a story instance. In open world it just tells you to use a wp.

It’s around 6-10 hours of WvW total. Alternatively it can be 0 hours if you have the Badges to do it through the the Big Spender daily and some of the other easy WvW dailies. You could also do it in Edge of the Mist instead which will increase the time but it is mostly the same as PvE in there.

If you get the precursor through crafting the actual requirements will depend on the specific weapon. Most recently I had to go kill the legendary giant in Dry Top. That is probably one of the more annoying requirements.

i don’t even dream of having one myself. nor i have the time to play enough to craft one nor i could drop couple of thousands gold (insane price) to buy one. so i find getting bored of them quite .. mind-blowing to be honest xD .. How Come! it’s like getting bored of a Ferrari! ^^

They aren’t as difficult to get as you think if you plan to play the game for at least a year. Just need to avoid throwing your stuff towards other things.

No the weapon is still the same. You will not get those upgrades back when you make the legendary, however.

I think you guys are missing the entire point of the “Penalty Box” as you so put it. This encounter is intended to be challenging and introduces the concept of defeat without the chance of resurrection

What a great idea! My character is supposed to be involved in this “EPIC STORY” but Anet purposefully puts him on the sidelines like this is some kind of hockey game. LOL

The idea is that you WERE involved, but you failed. Mordremoth defeated you. You’re put on the sideline because Mordremoth owns you know. Be glad you’re not still on the field with Mordremoth’s HP bar green and those of your friends in red.

Funny you should mention that … there is a bug if you play a sylvari where this can happen without you ever being defeated. If you get downed when your friends try to ress you if will be a stomp instead.

I would/could agree with you if this were a World Boss, but not on a Personal Story. I think that’s what is being missed Personal should be soloable without having to invest in different armor or weapons than what was used to get to this point. Remember you aren’t actually killing Mordy at this point its a mind game, his death comes from the Dragon Stand Event.

No need to invest in anything. Just swap some utilities around and don’t stay in red circles.

Thing you kill in DS is mordy’s mouth. You kill mordy in that final story fight.

Yeah I have completed on multiple Toons I just always feel sorry for anyone stuck in the penalty box.

I’ve also gotten past this part too many times to count and the game glitches and won’t let us finish but that’s something entirely different.

My thought is they should be able to be resurrected since they allow folks to res against World Bosses. Again this is my opinion only others may/will vary lol

Instances in general do not allow ressing until all party members are either dead or out of combat. That aside if you are in there with a group there is nothing stopping people from ressing from downed state assuming it is normal and not migraine mode. The only exception is during the flight phase but that is also a migraine only issue now.

What this really boils down to is that people are still unaware of the change or just unaware of the ability to stand in the bubble despite the voice over from your character mentioning it.

Fertile Soil still bugged for me

The Seaside Propagation location of Fertile Soil is still bugged for me.

Khisanth, it’s the Seaside Ledges Propagation one that will not work for me. It’s shown as not done in my collection and I have never been able to plant a seed there.

Do you see why I asked you which one you are having a problem with? Both of those are in the collection but they are at different locations. One of them was one of the previously broken ones that were disabled. Are you sure you actually went to the correct location? I know I messed up with these two when I was doing it.

Account wide recipes doesn’t affect discovery. That is only from recipes learned with recipe sheets which you could never do discovery for anyway (except for 1 or 2 things that could be both discovered and learned from a sheet).

I’m leaning towards this idea or something similar myself right now, although see below. I submitted a CS ticket slightly more than an hour ago, and anyone with any sense of irony can probably guess what happened next: I got into a map with a nicely advanced map event chain, killed Ignis again, and the Element of Ignis finally dropped.

To sum up:
1st kill: in the air on the way back to Ignis from Mariner’s Landing WP after having died. No Element of Ignis.
2nd kill: in the air on the way back to Ignis from Mariner’s Landing WP after having died. No Element of Ignis.
3rd kill: alive and on the island. No Element of Ignis.
4th kill: in downed state on the island, minimal event participation. No Element of Ignis.
5th kill: alive and on the island, Element of Ignis finally dropped.

So whatever caused this less than robust drop behaviour, at least I have the thing now and can farm for the remaining druid rune stones…

There are also some overly complex requirements for kill credit/participation in this game. For example I can quality for the champ bags from all 3 champ in the jungle wurm pre but still not quality for event credit. Not even bronze. At other times I cam basically just stare at one of the mobs in an event and qualify for gold …

Bomb, flamethrower, and toolkit all autoattack. Grenade kit and mortar kit don’t because the 1s are targetted

With Ground Targeting set to Instant and snap targeting enabled you can also hold down 1 for functionally the same thing.

I got both elements on the same day on the same character. I had to do two different cycles. I killed Aestus then went to Ignis. Died during the fight with Ignis, respawned but it died on my way back.

Well they have until reset tomorrow to fix those locations so that those that started the backpack don’t have to wait an “extra” day.

I wonder how many were lucky enough to not run into any issues and complete everything before the spots were disabled.

Apparently the issues were not 100% of the time. Someone mentioned running into the bug but it seems like they were also able to complete it but required a total something like 15 seeds. So there are people who ran into issues AND completed it before they were disabled.
