Missions and the number of people needed to complete them …
bounty – easy: 1
trek – easy: 1
trek – medium: 2
trek – hard: 4
race: varies but it can also be done together with other guilds
challenges
blightwater shattershrike: 3
branded for termination: 3
deep trouble: 5
puzzles
angvar’s trove: 6
langmar estate: 6
The maximum is 6 for these. I don’t see how that is all that crazy. Couple of the WvW and PvP ones are also doable with 3.
Op I am telling you, I highly doubt you will find any gear treadmills fun in the current mmorpg market with a 75 80 hour work week, I played eso before gw2 and you have to invest quite a bit of time into the game because of the rng, even if you craft your own gear it takes a long time to get all your research done and use only crafted sets and trust me you will want to go beyond those.
Your telling me you unlocked all your masteries? The thing about guild wars 2 is your meant to play it moderately, you can play other games on the side, but again I do not recommend a gear treadmill the rng in most of them are pretty bad.
I agree i hate gear tread mills and would not play GW2 at all if they did that.
But im wondering why GW2 doesnt make unique rewards for X thing.
For instance a unique armor set for 10k PvP games played then 20k and 30k.
Same thing for WvW players.
Then for PvE players unique items for X amount of characters with 100% completion of core tyria.
People have talked a long time about why there isnt mini drops/rewards unique to a boss/event/ or achievement. They did it for the dungeon but then made it a item for guild mission in HOT.
I really wished they cared about the long term life of the game but they killed PvP aspect of this when they made levels super easy to obtain.
because that approach isn’t sustainable. People would just rush through it then you go back to square one of people saying there is no reward.
That is just a treadmill on the dev side of things.
It is also possible to multiloot DS … some of the time. No idea what makes it work though.
I did some more thinking and I think that being equals is not fun. Guild Wars 2 tries to give everybody the same opportunities. This is boring. I remember playing a MMORPG called Cabal Online. I used to farm a spot for hours and hours. Why? Because I knew that spot could drop one of the most powerful weapons in game, that only a handful of people have. Guild Wars 2 lacks the possibility to be more powerful than everybody else. You can be more ’ skilled’ but IMO there is not that much skill involved in playing Guild Wars 2, there is not enough build diversity to facilitate this type of gameplay. This is just some speculation, though. I am just trying to think about WHY this type of gameplay is boring for me and apparently for OP and WHY we want something more.
tl:dr: being equals is not fun, the fun is in being different, there has to be a king and someone who dreams to someday become that king. I think.
Have you ever thought about being more … skillful?
If you make the zones smaller, the zoning will happen faster, until it appears seamless. No software changes needed, just map organization changes that need not be visible to the players. Arbitrarily choosing to make a huge area load at once gives us what we have now.
If you have ever played the personal story it should be obvious that idea would not work. Most of the personal story instances are very small AND they take place in locations where you already have the surrounding environment already loaded into memory because they take place in the same spot prior to entering the story instance. Despite that there are still loading screens required.
Just breaking it once is pretty much a guaranteed win.
No such issue here. Maybe you need to repair your .dat file.
The problem with some break bars is that they’re balanced around the assumption that everyone has the equivalent of a 5s stun, when realistically most have the equivalent of a 1s stun at best. It’d also be a lot more fair for groups if the conditions ticked simultaneously.
I believe most champions start with 600 break bar health and scale an additional 180 per person who joins the fight. This means that if everyone brought a 2s stun with them every break bar everywhere would be broken. Sadly there are not enough Bearbows around anymore to bring the CC we need.
I have joked about that as well but realistically speaking a bearbow is useless for that too because it is not just a matter of having CCs equipped, you also have to use it at the right time. There have been plenty of times when I was fighting VP or one of wyverns and I keep seeing stuns and dazes being used on them when the bar wasn’t up. Obviously those are not from a bearbow but I doubt they would be doing much better.
If they will start something like this, they can buy better servers.
All they need to do is buy better servers and reconfigure the game to remove all portals. That sounds easy enough, in my head when I think it. Occasionally I wonder though if the things I imagine are actually more expensive and harder to do in reality.
I hope you are not actually serious …
What? You’re saying people can make suggestions that are actually far more difficult to do and expensive than what they say it will be?
On the other hand… that does explain a lot of the suggestions I’ve seen on the forums.
No, I just wished people who make suggestions would take a few seconds to think about it first.
There is also an adrenal mushroom in the room. Most groups(actually every group I’ve ever done the event with, both successful and failures) let this very useful shroom go to waste.

Being able to heal through shroud has always been an extremely limited thing …
the 4th champion @ the lower level is soloable by any specs
That one hasn’t been a champion for a very long time.
You can just walk through her house and through the hole in the back down into the underground area. The entrance into the house is blocked is the event next to it is up.
The major thing I dislike about the dialog “cutscenes” since the Living Story began is that you can’t skip them. And characters won’t always follow you if you run ahead. And I also don’t like having to position myself so that I can read all of the dialogue word bubbles if I am wanting to read ahead and not listen to them jabbering on. That is what slows the flow of the story down a lot. I love the vanilla Personal Story so much more in every aspect, to put it simply.
I just resort to alt+tabbing out while they blabber on and check back once in a while.
Is my memory betraying me? There were people that greatly disliked the 2D-esque cutscenes which is partly why the devs moved to change to the current model, right?
Are there players still out there that really dislike the old style? I’m still confused why.
Well they were apparently also more difficult to make due to the need to get things into the right position and state after the skip button. They also had a tendency to remove people’s hats and maybe their beards too.
Grove used to have a 180s CD …
The adage of “Show, don’t tell” comes to mind.
Exposition is boring. Don’t waste time with it if you can just show what you mean, or include it with the action.
Many of what would be flat cutscenes (in the past) are now dialogue that plays while you run around. This is great for people who don’t care about the story (they don’t have to hit skip as fast as possible) and great for people who do care about the story (you can see how the action ties into the dialogue).
Except that never actually happens in the newer ones. It is all stand around talking then do stuff then stand around talking some more and repeat and now there is no way to skip listening to the NPCs blabber on for the Nth time.
True for raids.
In general PvE it depends on the specific mob.
Some fractal bosses have their own fixation mechanic that is independent of it.
I do them all the time assuming it isn’t some horrible “stand around here for 5 minutes” thing.
People were complaining when there were tons of people doing it. The event would scale, but lots of people didn’t know what their CCs were.
or just too many people with slavish devotion to their rotation
There are 4 in the Benthic Kelp Beds in Mount Maelstrom but they are spread apart and their positions are random. They also do not require deep waters. Some spawn on the edge between Whisper Bay and Blighted Arch in Malchor’s Leap. There are also coral nodes east of Wrathwave Deeps in Sparkfly Fen near where teq spawns.
There are workarounds for the problem.
1) use weapon swap to stop the movement, if you are thinking “but I am an ele! I don’t have weapon swap” you can use something like the birthday blaster or any number of things that give you a bundle
2) get the experimental rifle from malchor’s leap and just use that to do the jump. if you are an engineer you can just equip a rifle and use the #5 on that, DH F2 and DD’s vault might also work if they have enough range
Gift of Exploration is used for all legendaries, not just the old ones.
New ones use Gift of Maguuma
Huh. You’re completely right. I could have sworn they used the old GoE along with the maguuma ones, but checking the wiki – nope, no Gift of Exploration anywhere. Wonder what made me think that…
Gift of Maguuma Mastery has the same icon as Gift of Exploration
Does one really need all waypoints, which I assume is the actual goal? I mean, how long does it take to run from LA to Orr, for example? 15 minutes? I’m not a good judge cuz I always get distracted by nodes and events.
I’m not opposed to getting everything unlocked once you’ve done so on one character, so long as no rewards are associated with it. It’s not something I’d use, but wouldn’t object to others consuming a Gift or better yet buying an unlock pack from the gem store.
If you mean literally all of them probably not. I know there are plenty of WPs I’ve never used in the years of playing the game.

Guardian GS, warrior axe offhand, or Dagger Storm are all possibilities.
And yes, warrior GS 3 does a spinning motion as you move forward.
In that case there is fiery greatsword and of course there is Overload Fire.
Off hand axe for ranger as well but you can’t move while using that.
Hammer 2 of scrapper I guess.
Arah Story is totally duoable. The only issue is the random disconnects causing you to start over.
Though I main a heal druid, so I havent found one I couldnt do yet. It would depend on the classes
Arah doesn’t have a story mode anymore. It is just a long PS instance that scales with party size. The conversion to a PS instance is part of your random disconnect problem. At least when it was a story mode dungeon you can still rejoin as long as one of the party members remained connected.
and what makes you think that is a bug? Having skills interrupted shouldn’t have consequences?
The main issue with that bit is that for whatever reason the beast needs to build up momentum or something. If it runs into a rock too soon after it starts a charge it just stops without doing anything. The main thing you have to do is get the alignment correct so that doesn’t happen and get it to run over the minions.
Thanks. I’ll have to update the wiki: it says 30-40 minutes. But, I’ll try that a few times to see what happens.
Thanks!
That is around how long it takes for Braham to do it the last couple of times where I just didn’t want to bother with it. The majority of the time is taken up by the killing the minions. Braham can kill the beasts fairly quickly on his own so high damage isn’t really all that crucial. When I completed the achievement it wasn’t on a particularly high damage character either and I wasn’t even going for the achievement.
If you don’t think the reward is worth the effort there is a very simple solution …
Are you sure you are not looking at the bleeding duration from the bleeds caused by Sharpened Edges or similar?
I keep them in a shared slot so I am always opening cargo regardless of which character I am on.
I would never be able to solve that Silverwaste JP in a thousand years. It’s why I use youtube guides for every JP.
That one was actually very well done if you run around and explore a bit. Also the route is very clearly marked thanks to the speed boost water tower things. If you go in any direction for too long without seeing one you know you went the wrong way.
It also has a flexible checkpoint system that isn’t affected by disconnects.

You DO have enough AR right?
There are also the fractal potions if you want to make it them easier.
A lot more difficult? O_o
The only changes I am aware of made them easier …
I think they need stop using stupid solutions that involve massive quantities for any single recipe because that is destined for failure in the long run.
You got two possible outcomes.
1) you successfully fix the prices of those items. Hurray. Except for all those recipes requiring large quantities of whatever material you were trying to fix. OOPS.
2) you fail to have any impact. Oh well …
or they could only require the extremely cheap mats that sell for coppers to soak up some of the excess.
That is the sort of approach that got us here in the first place.
Yes you only ned one Fractal Capacitor. You start with the exotic from the vendor then fully upgrade it to the infused version. There are 3 with different stats so make sure you get the one with the stats you want.
The Gift of Magic and Gift of Music can easily take a lot longer than 3 days.
Three days is way too long? Wait until you hit the ones that takes months, years. I’ve been waiting on my final spoon for….well, forever it seems.
Not really comparable since there isn’t anything gated behind it and has a two different game modes as requirements.
AC and TA are fairly easy. CM has some crazy bits with rooms full of elites. Manageable if you know where they will be and pull carefully. This is a bit like GW1.
SE … the fights before the last boss can be quite painful although the last boss is very easy.
CoF is actually easier than SE.
HotW has several spots with very high incoming damage and the last fight is agaist a champion and a legendary. One of which can pretty much oneshot with a skill with fairly low cooldown.
CoE … maybe with some combination of dragonhunter, elementalist, engineer, druid. There is one spot where you need large amounts of AoE damage as well as the ability throw out heals to keep an NPC alive.
This is pretty much the reason we’ve halted on several decorations. It was over 100g per decoration from the leather alone.
Do you have the misfortune of going through Telia’s network somewhere?
They already have the ice encasement outfit
Good to hear you found a workaround!
Not sure that’s a workaround, to be honest. I believe that you need to go through all the content with the original unlock character or it won’t count for the achievement. Then again, I could be wrong, so please keep us posted!
That is wrong. I did half the whisper one on my thief and half on mesmer.
Then one of them did the first half twice
There can only be one original.
Dungeons (fractals specifically) seem to be the area the OP takes issue with. As long as any dungeon encounter requires players to kill mobs, the meta is going to insist that groups bring as much damage as the game allows. So, for the meta to shift to include Toughness, the content itself would have to change to make those enhanced boons be deemed necessary. What this means is that parties would now require a boon bot with Toughness. Again, since access to boons is nowhere near equal, only certain professions will be included as the new boon bot. What this would also mean is that parties which currently do fractals with off-meta comps would also need a boon bot. I don’t view that as a positive change to the game. Ommv.
The solution to that is the same as it has always been. Start your own group.
Sometimes it cares about the order. I actually ran into the exact issue yesterday. You could just reopen the forge. Additionally if you have high ping trying to click all the items quickly can also cause the same or similar problem. Double click the first item then wait until the rest darken then double click the rest.
The circles do not seem to be based on damage. Just need to wait. High damage characters have to wait around just as long as low damage characters. There have been times where I just stood there autoattacking waiting. It is pretty boring.
In addition to the circles there are audio cues that goes along with it which also shows up in the chatbox if you have that enabled.
