Biggest difference is that damage only stops being useful when the fight is over. Healing can stop being useful much more frequently. That basically means the amount of healing required is lower than the amount of damage.

Price of Maguuma Lily

Khisanth.2948

Adding it to the chest would add at most 1 per day as you would only be able to get one for the Chak Gerent, it would encourage partipation in these metas and will pretty much be required once the next expac drops, I think.

It’ll still drive the price down to less than a gold if not further. There only sink for it is the armor/weapon and the new current event. With players having the option to get it on a wide scale, even if 1 per day, you’d eventually create a large surplus and drive it down. Currently this provides a great opportunity for farmers or players just casually playing on those maps.

No, it wouldn’t. Stop spreading lies. Every single heros choice chest has an amalgamated gemstone in it, which are hovering 1.90 gold each. As soon as the price of lilies dropped below this, people would stop picking it from the chest if they were just trying to sell the reward, as the amalgamated gemstone would then be more lucrative.

It provides a perfect floor (in the sense that its been at a steady price for a long time now) to how low lilies would drop in price. They would by no means drop to below 1 gold each

Gemstones have a much greater demand as you need them for crystalline ingots among others. They’re nowhere near the same level as Maguuma lilies. So no, I’m not lying.

Yes, you are. Yes, amalgamated gemstones have a substantially higher demand than lilies do. But for people who are selecting the rewards from the chest for the purposes of making a profit, they will choose the gemstone as soon as the price of a lily drops below that of a gemstone. And that price is hovering at just under 2 gold each. So no, lilies wouldn’t drop to below 1g just by being added to heros choice chests

The same reason the price of silver doubloons didn’t plummet to the floor as soon as they introduced them into the map bonus rewards. There are maps giving more valuable items than silver doubloons.

Lilies can also be used to make AG so their prices wouldn’t drop below the rest of the materials that can be used for the same purpose. It would look similar to the reverse of what happened to Flax Blossoms when it was patched to allow them to be used to create AGs as well.

On the other hand pegging so to the price of AG might not be a great idea since those are only used for precursor and legendary crafting even if they use a large quantity. Maybe allow AGs to substitute for platinum doubloons in the recipes for bountiful consumables?

The fights are easy … assuming you don’t run into any of the bugs but it also has some rough edges.

That makes the fight feel tedious. Mordremoth in particular feels like it is dragged out for no other reason than having a pile of HP and the random teleportation. The teleportation would have been justified if there was some mechanic for you to immobilize him. There is just not much interesting with that fight for most characters. The only exception is the condi ranger situation mentioned above.

The gliding/rock throwing is essentially a oneshot mechanic. Either it is avoided or the person dies and restarts the whole tedious fight. I am not a fan of oneshot mechanics no matter how it is framed but I am sure someone will ignore this just so they can mention how easy it is or the vine that you can stand on to ignore it. It would probably not be as bad if the rest of the fight didn’t feel so boring.

Then there is Caithe. Apparently while they were waiting outside Rytlock taught her to use Kick and she just couldn’t wait to show it off.

The handling of the mind rifts is not as good as it could be. After the first two fights when you channel the rifts it will pull in the relevant NPC in. That pull sets up a misleading expectation. It makes it seem like pulling the NPC is an important/relevant part of that mechanic but it is not. What is important is being able to fully channel the skill without being interrupted. That is relevant when you need to channel the rift for Caithe(and I believe one of the others) who is immune to hard CCs(that in itself deserves its own WTF? moment) and you channel but she doesn’t move. If you also happen to get interrupted from taking damage during the channel it will look like the fight is broken when it isn’t. I don’t think it would be fair or correct to expect everyone to start trying to diagnose the problem when they encounter something like that. Some people will but I doubt most people play with the mindset of a person doing QA. On the other hand that can be something difficult for the designer to see because they already know the details of the mechanics so they wouldn’t be mislead by their own design.

Also worth noting is people’s frequent failure to distinguish between annoying and challenging. Example of an annoying but not challenging situation is the final fight with Zhaitan where you are just 1111111 your way through it on the cannon. Instead of having the courtesy of keeping a boring fight short there is the AoE poison that also knocks you over. The only thing it does is drag on the fight for slightly longer since you have to step away for a few seconds to wait for the field to go away.

The problem is that the extra stacks of bleeding from Earth and Geo both do more actual damage than the Bursting Sigil does, because it was very poorly implemented. It only adds 6% to your BASE condition damage (i.e. it ignores all of your condition damage from gear).

That is false. It does not ignore condition damage from gear unless weapons and armor doesn’t count as gear. It can not work the way you describe because it would be 6% of 0 all the time.

Starting from 0 condi damage.

Equip an exotic carrion(239 condi damage) staff with sigil of bursting in it → 253 condi damage (239 * 1.06)

Equip an ascended viper hat(+54 condi damage, +25 from the rune = 318 total) → 337 condi damage ( 318 * 1.06)

Equip an ascended sinister amulet (+157 condi damage = 475) → 503 condi damage (475 * 1.06)

Eat a spicy pumpkin cookie (+70 condi damage = 545) → 578 condi damage (545 * 1.06) not sure how they are doing the rounding, 503.5 did not round to 504 but 577.7 rounds to 578

Use a tuning icile (60, +46.84 = 651.84 or +60,40 = 645) → 685
This is where things get a bit weird. It looks like the +171 vitality in my Carrion staff does not apply to the utility consumable’s “Gain condition damage equal to 4% of your vitality” but on the other hand 645 * 1.06 is only 683.7 so even if you round that up it should only be 684 there is an extra point from somewhere.

You get confusion when you hit him if he has the purple shield surrounding him. It works like chaos armor but seems to apply confusion everytime instead of a random condition. Pretty horrible against condi ranger because SB hits quickly and both SB and axe #2 hit multiple times. I considered bringing more condi removal but at the end I just decided to face away from him whenever that was up which would stop my character from attacking. There are other ways to stop attacking but I find facing away to be more convenient.

I bet you are super glad they fixed the bug where your ranged attacks would stack confusion at super-speed when you faced away, then.

Seriously, though, thanks. I actually just powered through that because I couldn’t figure out the trigger. I hadn’t noticed the shielding with everything else going on in the fight.

I did it before the fix so I guess it didn’t matter. Turning off AA and just letting go of 1 was one of the alternatives to turning around.

I decided to try Heart and Soul for the first time yesterday, but ultimately stopped after my headache (not from playing the game, though ;-) ) got worse.
As for myself: I AM a rather low-skilled player and a notorious clicker. The fights feel quite dragged out, tbh, at least on my Condi Druid in the afore mentined attempt. Eir and Garm were tedious, once I stopped dying from Eir’s fire spam due to lolworthy-executed strafing. Mordrem-Pale Tree was okayish but I didn’t understand the whole mechanics, so getting – in that reagard – “randomly” interrupted was rather head-screatching.
Fatty-Dragon was also a bit mystery. I understood the meele need once his air whirl surrounded him (that pulled you to him when you stepped too far out of range), but I still don’t know if there’s a “deeper” reason why I got some random confusion stacks (“painful” with the fast shortbow auto attacks).

They don’t write “caution: don’t microwave pets” on things because it seemed like a good idea. They write it there because they need to.

Too much effort. You need to get the petrified wood to buy the contracts then you need to get to the stashes which are sometimes in very inconvenient locations. You also have to remember the locations of all the stashes unless you are using some sort of overlay to show their location.

  • Sigil of blood is easily replaced by a Food (Omnomberry Ghost comes to mind) as the health and damage siphoned procs too infrequently to be worth it compared to what Food offers.

That one is a bit messy.

Sigil of Blood has kitten CD while the food has a 2s CD.

Sigil of Blood also scales with power while the food does not. At high enough power the sigil will beat the food and you free up the food slot for 100 power/70something else or a +% damage food

The Elegant crafting back pieces can’t be infused … you can only infused ascended items.

They both have an infusion slot.

Infusing adds an additional infusion slot but that doesn’t matter very much for anything using the standard infusing recipe using 250 globs of ectos. At current prices having the additional slot saves you 35g to 37g on agony infusions but the ectos used is 80g to 85g.

People have been doing that for along time. It was almost not even worth doing 6 months ago when I got juggernaut because of the price on those stones and the time burnt clicking.

Oh not sure if you meant silver or platinum oops.

A large factor in flax price drop is probably the scribe recipes being gutted.

Scribing was bottlenecked too much by pigments and resonating sliver/shards/etc. to have to worry about flax.

Hardest thing about the VB meta for me is always getting people to spread out to defend the kitten rally points without overstacking on them. Sorta stuck in a conundrum where people will only gather if there are tags on the map, but despite all protest from the Comm organizing the thing they’ll only follow the tag and not defend anywhere else.

You don’t even need a few people.

Just one necro/rev/ele/ranger could do it. Having a second person with you is more like insurance against a random person showing up scaling it up while contributing nothing. -_-

Neither of those can be attributed to instant ground targeting.

Casting on top of yourself is a symptom of having the cursor on top of any part of the UI. That will occur regardless of ground targeting setting.

As for the GS3 going backwards that isn’t exclusive to instant ground targeting either. This can happen if you try to use it as you are trying to run through a door/archway. What is happening is easily seen with ground targeting set to normal. On the left of the picture everything looks fine. As I move forward without changing anything else the direction will end up pointing backwards. The cursor’s relative position to your character that will trigger this will depend on the height of the arch.

Speaking of dialogue boxes. Did you know you forgot to put one on the updrafts so that players end up scrambling through, jumping into, and ultimately just dying instead of being able to take to the air to avoid the auto-death mechanics of the fight? If like every other interact-able object in the game they popped up the box prompting you to push your interact keybind, a lot of frustration could have been avoided.

Hmm I do remember seeing those but I feel like they messed up the timing. Instead of having the spouts spawn as soon as the phase starts they don’t spawn until after the speaking is done and you have about 2 seconds to look around for the spouts and run into one. That is cutting things a bit too close. There is one that always spawns near the NPCs but that doesn’t feel like a great justification for that timing.

Having just completed this, and gosh was that just some fun, I was never more than two dodge rolls away from an updraft, thank goodness. You are able to avoid the ground effect using those, so perhaps save your dodges?

That reminds me … the ground’s damage ignores invulnerability too.

Did it never occur to anyone in QC that it might be a good idea to either place the instance exit somewhere other than smack dab in the middle of the small platform we fight him on or at least disable the exit dialogue so that we don’t spend the majority of the fight with our view blocked by a “Yes/No?” dialogue box? Really guys?

I have gone through H&M around 14 times now and I have no idea what dialog you are referring to. Generally exit instance dialogs don’t show up until the instance is complete. You might want to elaborate on what you are referring to. The exit instance button on the bottom right does show up if you are redoing for achievements but that is off to the side.

Blindness is a “soft” CC, so it will do “damage over time” to the breakbar, rather than instantly reducing it. It ticks when condition damage ticks, once a second, as I understand it. For all the details, see the wiki on the subject

Went and tested on some arrowheads. Blindness really does nothing to the breakbar. Blindness should apply degen to the bar at the same rate as weakness but the bar does not move at all. When I start attacking and end up applying weakness through Lotus Poison it takes off around 20% of the bar.
