Well, not necessarily. Norn don’t seem to see their brawls as ‘violence’. They have a good brawl, then everyone laughs about it afterwards and has a pint. Or a quart, I suppose.
I’d compare it to the difference between an argument (shouting, name-calling, etc) and a debate (reasons, consideration, etc). In either case, you are – technically – arguing, but only one is violent.
It’s not important how the Norn view their own actions. To judge which is the most peacful race you need to judge them from the same viewpoint. While the typical Human is an citzen the typical Norn is an adventurer. And even those who don’t go around killing things for the fun of it will indugle in frequent brawls in Hoelbrak. The majority of the Norn kill Dredge, Grawl and Jotun whenever they get the chance. They don’t indulge in full out warfare becuase they aren’t ogranised enough for that. They attack races whenever they get the chance and that is the closest they will get to full out warfare. There no way you could call them a peaceful race let alone the most peaceful.
You don’t to log in to view them you only need to log in to type.
Running DE chains in low level areas = Players and Anet will think you’re a bot instead of playing the DE cycle because you actually enjoy it!
Running DE chains in High Level areas = Game Design. No need to look for bots here!
Considering he says that he did that ten plus hours every day it is pretty obivous he a bot.
It is nice to see them posting but they aren’t not really saying much. Most of what they are saying is that the precursor scavenger hunt won’t be added in soon. They not addressing any concerns or informing us of what they will add.
They never stated that every class could be a dps, tank or healer they stated that every class could heal. As for adding the holy trinity in go play one of the dozens of other mmos that has a holy trinity instead of the one that doesn’t have it.
Seems like some people mistake Logan for being fast. Logan is not fast, he just runs.
In the end, the whole Destiny’s Edge guild seemed to have forgiven Logan, would this make the whole guild bad for forgiving him that easily?
But otherwise, Logan is my favourite hero, he seems to be the only one who can accept his mistakes and then change, apologize about it.
Do not forget when he sacrificed himself so you could get away with the flying ship in Orr!
Some would argue he was too scared of fighting Zhaitan and they didn’t do a good job of telling us that there was actually any danger there because most of the time that area was quiet.
Ok so here what you do to make lots of gold. Buy two accounts, exploit on one make thousands of gold and then send it to you other account. Once you get banned for exploting then ask for a refund get it and now you have thousands of gold and you only paid for one account. Don’t want to exploit too bad you have no choice.
Raven is supposed to be the cunning one so the ther wouldn’t offer riddles. But I agree they were way too easy.
I would love to have them again but as they haven’t reaadded to the promised activites I doubt we see them again.
My opinion on it pretty much echoes the sentiment of the reddit post. If people did this to an extent to get banned then they did it enough to know it wasn’t intended. And they didn’t care. They didn’t care that the ectos and gold flooding the market would have a negative impact on the vast majority of players throughout the entire game.
You can’t just strip the account of someone with that mentality. They will just do it again. I’d wager everything I own that the same people that used the karma weapon exploit and were given another chance, also did the godskull and snowflake exploits.
Exploiters ’gonna Exploit. Best to just get rid of them. In the real world when inconsideration costs you real money, it tends to make you actually think about your actions. Most of the time.
Culling isn’t intended, let’s ban all the thieves who use it.
Bugs in fotm isn’t intended, let’s ban all the higher level people who probably hoped for the bugged fractals and ban them.
Godskull exploiters weren’t banned? Ban them.Or how about something we call a “warning”? You know…the kind of thing that gives people a chance? I’m surprised that arenanet has 0 tolerance for people who play their game and enjoy it; exploit or not exploit because exploits aren’t floating around everyday.
Obviously they are like any other player and want to play this game; doubt they are just camping LA to wait for a new exploit everytime it comes around. But yeah, let’s go ahead and cut everyone hands off for taking a loaf of bread once.
They don’t ban people for doing it once they ban people who are clearly exploting it. They do it mutlpile times with full knowledge that Anet bans exploiters and that they are exploting. It’s the same as banning botters.
No idea but the “Mods” are more like the Gestapo. They don’t even interact with the community to join in on the discussions. All we get is “This topic is closed” and variations of that. Why can they not join in on the chats like the blizzard community managers do? If i were them i would take a trip over to the wow community forums to learn how to treat their community.
Ps. To the employees, I have nothing personal against each of you just the way the forum is run(i understand it has been handed down from a higher level)
You are going to get infracted for this. If Anet is telling them to do what they are doing then Anet has extemely poor ideas about how to handle the forums. People get infracted and thread deleted for no reason.
I think he was just hoping to manipulate the market and failed. His are still up there and others undercutting him down to 3s.
Well of course he failed there ae many other ways to acquire the item.
Simple answer, the Flame Legion is fighting the Charr who are fightng against the Dragons. To free up Charr forces they need to destory the Flame Legion.
Longer expanlation If the Pact secures Fireheart Rise then their flank is secured when they assualt Jormag. Also the Flame Legion is very similar to the Destoryers so they may join up with Primodus in the future.
Simple answer is strange because instead of dedicating pact forces to freeing up the legions to fight the dragons which ties up pact forces, they could have just sent said pact forces to the dragons and the legions to the flame legion (but then again if they both fight, perhaps the job gets done quicker, though it takes away from existing jobs, such as potentially the assault on Arah or perhaps the activities in Frostgorge Sound).
Long answer is odd because the flame legion has (as far as I know) shown no interest in the Shiverpeak mountains. Why would they waste resources attacking the pact (who would not be considered belligerent if the Pact wasn’t in Fireheart Rise) as they assault Jormag when they are being pressed so hard throughout Ascalon? And would that mean that anyone who utilises fire magic for malevolent purposes be considered potential… recruits for Primordius?
All seems rather peculiar.
The Pact is currently not making a serious attack on Jormag and before they do they could be trying to ensure more support from the Charr.
The Pact inculdes Charr and if the Flame Legion deicded to they could try and cut off the Pact’s supply line and weaken the Charr and their allies. The Flame Legion shamans worship fire and lava which are ascpets of Primodius add to that the fact they all tried to worship his minions.
The order of Whispers is mostly located in Taverns.

Try talking to these SoS. They are openly hostile and threaten to kill you if you don’t leave. The only reason they would be there is because it is a safe place they can rest, recover and recruit or kidnap other norn.
Precisely, it’s all threats.
There’s no physical violence. They don’t kidnap, they don’t start brawls, and they don’t actually kill if you linger. They just threaten. They have bark, but no bite. Those in Hoelbrak at least.
Except for when you’re allowed to kill them, during a certain personal storyline step.[/quote]
They don’t attack you because Anter doesn’t allow any fighting in the captail city. Anet has not clarifed whether they would kill you in lore. The SoS start off being Norn who crave power and seek it from Jormag. They start off on the path of becoming Icebrood and once they become Icebrood they could use the knowledge of Hoelbrak to attack it when Jormag is ready.
ANet has officially stated that Legendary stats will be bumped to Ascended when Ascended weapons are introduced.
They actually stated that ascended weapons would help “bridge the gap” between exotic and legendary weapons. It’s my belief that Legendary weapons will be better than ascended weapons which will be better than exotics. Basically Orange items will one day be equivalent to current day Greens . Which is a huge shame. It makes spending resources and materials for rare exotics a set back .
They have clarifed that they meant the time gap not the stat gap.
They judge an individual by that individual’s own action.
But their ‘actions’ are just as hostile. Not the ones in Hoelbrak, but the SoS in general, and the norn tolerate them as such (not just the individuals in Hoelbrak).
Lets say you hate Republicans in America – if I say I’m a Republican, would you hate and condemn me for what the Republican politicians do?
If America was at war with another nation and the Republicans would openly colaborate with them, to the point of raiding/sabotaging american facilities, then yes. Because it makes them traitors and enemies of the state. (which is exactly the case with the SoS and Jormag).
You yourself explain why the SoS in Hoelbrak are tolerated – because the SoS in Hoelbrak aren’t hostile – like thinking all whites are evil because of the KKK, or that all Germans are because of the Nazi. Same exact situation with the Sons of Svanir – so they have an odd faith, but if they don’t go killing and corrupting, they’re not to blame for having a weird faith.
And what if its just the politicians or a certain group of Republicans, but not those who just watch FOX News who are “enemies of the state” – would you still blame every single individual Republican? It’s the same exact thing as claiming all Muslims are terrorists due to the extremist groups that perform terrorism. Your profiling, and its no different than racism.
Apparently norn have a more open mind than you.
Try talking to these SoS. They are openly hostile and threaten to kill you if you don’t leave. The only reason they would be there is because it is a safe place they can rest, recover and recruit or kidnap other norn.
Except they don’t have the same enemies.
Divinity’s Reaches enemies are bandits and centaurs. The Lionguard made a treaty with the centaurs to protect trade routes.
Also the Lionguard is far more widespread and can count the Flame Legion as well as many other that Kryta doesn’t fight.
Hi,
So briefly, what we know about ascended gear is that Arenanet planned for it to be in the game, but did not include it at launch(why?). In any case, it is meant to bridge the gap between legendary and exotic(I thought they were the same stat wise), and to give people something else to gear for since we were gearing up via exotic faster than anticipated. We also are under the impression, as per the AMA with Chris Whiteside, that they do not intend to release new ascended item slots every 3 months or so.With those assumptions in mind, after several installments of ascended gear…one or two years down the road where you are able to acquire every slot of ascended, where do we go from there? What happens then? You’ll hear the gear treadmill, excuse me, \item treadmill folks clamor for more treadmill. And it has also been inferred that Arenanet has no quarrels with increasing the level cap for a major expansion.
SO, with all slots being ascended in one to two years time, and a major expansion in that general time frame(good timing?), they increase the level cap.. We get to the new level cap, for arguments sake 90, and farm the highest tier gear possible. For arguements sake, level 90 exotics. Do you think we will be slapped with an ascended gear climb again? What is the reasoning this time? Arenanet cannot throw the “bridge the gap” excuse at us again.
In summary: When the game has no where else to go in terms of item/gear progression, at a new level cap will we see new versions of ascended gear that will replace top level 90 gear? While level 90 gear. say exotics, would be available to you, would we be thrown higher level infusions to the level 80 ascended gear? How will the stats of level 90 exotic match up with those of level 80 ascended via more powerful infusions?
I thought this would be an interesting discussion that no one has really opened yet. People have speculated how far does ascended gear go in the game, when will it stop, but I do not think anyone has discussed what happens at level cap of a new expansion.
Please keep it civil (toward me) and anyone else that responds. You all will have your own differing opinions. I obviously have my own opinion on the subject that you might be able to interpret here, but I am curious what people think is in store for us after level 80 in terms of ascended/infusions.
Thoughts?
You have made some mistakes in this post. They said that will not release a new gear tier every 3 months not a new ascended slot. They have also confirmed that by this time next year we will have all of the ascended gear released.
And you care why? You spend almost no time there anyways, or at least, you are not supposed to.
Plus, maybe you have a house somewhere that she works at and you just can’t go inside?
I suppose it isn’t evident enough to you that I was merely interested enough in the subject matter to ask this question.
Actually though, your point is still valid. I had read some articles that incorrectly stated that Lord Faren’s house was actually the Noble player’s house. I had discovered that at work but unfortunately our work’s firewall does not allow us to get on to the Guild Wars 2 forums. Even though you were a bit snarky, thanks for at least answering.
Player housing has been confirmed but no release date announced so the guard may appear at your house once it is added.
I was just standing outside the home instance in DR and I could hear the same noises. A lot of kitten goes down in Divinty’s Reach.
I would love Grawl, Tengu and Dredge to become playable.
The only race I could currently see as being playable in the near future in the tengu. They were a widespread race, there are many varieties, and there is the possiblity for appearances we’ve never seen in game (thinking tengu from Elona and other parts of the world), they have a sizable city and possible starting area, are seem to be waiting to make their move in the world.
They also seem to have knowledge of a previous dragon rise, which could make them valuable allies should the extent of that knowledge be revealed in the future. You’re missing out Kodan and Largo
Grawl will never be playable due to being a lesser race that others can choose as a racial sympathy. They would also have a difficult time regardless of this because they’re one of the races that has made little, if any, advancement in culture or technology over the past 250 years.
The problem with dredge is they’re extremely xenophobic and kill anything that isn’t one their own. Yes, they have internal problems of their own but they have too many disadvantages that would prevent them from being a playable race without a major overhaul.
The kodan all look the same so there would be a definite lack of customization. There’s also no way to distinguish genders without speaking to them which has its own problems.
Largos may have potential but the lack of information on them cannot be ignored. I would need to know more before making a judgment as to whether or not they could be playable.
With the exception of tengu, none of these races have a starting area or major city. The only one that could go either way is the largos, again this as a result of the lack of information on them.
I just point out that this topic is supposed to be the races you want to have in the game not the races you think will be added in game. I know Dredge and Grawl are almost certainely not going to happened but I would love to have them in game. The Largos live somewhere in the sea and this is the reason for the lack of information on them. I believe that they added to as we move towards fighting Bubbles.

You do realize there is a profanity filter right?
He must do because it’s turned on once you start.

It is annoying that they give away the extra stuff for free when I payed extra. Sell the game for less but don’t give stuff away that we had to pay extra for.
I’m not going to say that Trahearne is boring because we all know he is. I just point either the worst piece of dialogue in the game or a hint that Trahearne is evil. After cleansing Orr Trahearne says “now the pact will devote all their rescoures to your goal of killing Zhaitan.” If Trahearne is not evil then he is incredibly arrogant and believes the whole pact formed to complete his wyld hunt and no one other than you actually cares about killing Zhaitan. If he is evil then this tells us he has no intresest in fighting Zhaitan.
It’s all speculation up to this matter.
The whole “females immune to Jormag corruption” sounds rather odd. Also Icebrood in fact aren’t Sons of Svanir. Sons of Svanir are followers of the Dragon as they see it as a spirit of the wild, while Icebrood are corrupted entities, as we see they can be Norn, Koda, Quaggan, Largo and so on. So the rules consequence of Jora’s actions against the cult of Svanir do not apply to Icebrood.I think they are either killed or… for some reason, Jormag likes to have women around so he keeps them in the Northern Shiverpeaks. In that case, he either is a “ladies-dragon” (lol) or females have another use / turn into a more powerful kind of Icebrood so that they can be used as elite guards.
In the Destiny’s Edge novel the Dragonspawn tells Eir that he will take her over. This suggests that he sends the corrupted females away instead of killing them.
That’s probably old concept art from before the Sons of Svanir were fully fleshed out. The reason why no women are allowed is because Jora (a girl) killed Svanir himself. Makes me wonder what they would’ve done if a man had killed Svanir: then they would have to be the Sons of Svanir, No Men Allowed.
It’s not only that Jora killed Svanir, though that is a big part of it. But Jora also refused to take on Jormag’s blessing and for some reason that we do not know of, Jormag does not turn females into icebrood at all after this incident. This leads me to believe that females are somehow immune to his power of corruption much like Sylvari are. Because we do see Jormag attempt to corrupt at least one woman, but none have so far been corrupted successfully.
Women are not immune to corruption as the Sylvari are. There are multiple times when a Norn female is killed and becomes a Risen. It happens so frequently I think Anet has a vendetta against them. Also Elder Dragons are supposed to be very poweful. How powerful would an Elder Dragon if a mere gender could stop it’s corruption?
Largos, Tengu and Kodan are the most likely races to become playable. To make Quaggan, Skritt, Hylek and Orges playable they would have to alter the personal story. The Dredge have the abilitly to burrow which would give them an obivous advantage over the other races. The Harpies have no goal other than raiding nearby villages and everything else about them rules them out as playable. The Krait are hated by every other races and attack and enslave them so they would not get along with the other races.
I too hope that ANet plans to add more personal story after defeating Zhaitan. I think it’s strange that suddenly everything is magically solved after the big bad guy is gone, I would like to go out and tackle the big mess the dragons have left behind them and maybe even discover new threats.
Also how is it that even in your world there ares still risen dragging there feet around everywhere when you have killed the source of them, surely your world after Zhaitans demise would be free of them ? So everything is not magically solved or just bad story writing.
The lore expanlation for this is thatkilling Zhaitan only stops the mass production of the Risen they still contuine to exist after his death.
I too hope that ANet plans to add more personal story after defeating Zhaitan. I think it’s strange that suddenly everything is magically solved after the big bad guy is gone, I would like to go out and tackle the big mess the dragons have left behind them and maybe even discover new threats.
Anet obivously plans to extend the personal story in future expansions.
She seems to have no impact other than telling you of an event. I would just ignore her since she has no importance.
Canthan New Year was a Major event celebrated in the first game late January through early February.
Maybe an introduction to Cantha, tengu ect…
With Zhaitan out of the way, this seems possible.
Bubbles does actually exist by the way. The Lost Shores shows that Bubbles minions have become more active. Trying to get Cantha would result in an encounter with Bubbles. Plus I point out that the Tengu no longer live in Cantha. I can’t understand why everyone think Anet will ignore the other Dragons and have us go on this ridclous trip to Cantha to to allow the Tengu to live in Cantha while the Elder Dragons pillage Tyria including the Domion of Winds which is their current home.
I play an engineer and the grenade kit was completely ridiculous, it needed a nerf even if they didn’t fix the sigils problem.
If you were one of the engineers that just ran around abusing the grenade kit, you deserve to be disappointed. Yes the Engineer class is currently broken, it isn’t the only class, but abusing the one area broken in your favor is not a solution.
I sense someone got owned by the grenade kit. The only use of it was for tagging it was for too low damage to be useful it needed buffing not nerfing.
the dragons operate on a cycle to wipe tyria clean of civilizations…. why?
if nothing commanded them to ravage the earth then how are they going to top six dragons for a nemisis? somehow joko would be a relief if i could say “well at least hes not a god dragon”.
The Dragons exist to eat magic not destory civilzation. The Dwarves, Jotun and Musrat survived because of this. Just because Joko is less powerful then the Dragons doesn’t mean he will have no impact on the player. There are other ways to make Joko to have an effect on the player.
maybe shiro is a pawn of the crystal dragon?
Kralkatorrik is in Tyria not Cantha why would he have an champion in Cantha when he is supposed to awaken his master in Tyria.
I have to agree everyone is either friendly to the other races or has the potential to become friendly. The Grawl become friendly as do the Dredge and the Centaurs have an npc in LA that hints at the Centaurs becoming friendler. As soon as we elimante the Elder Dragons I cannot currently see much possabilty for the game to contuine.
We’ve actually been aware of this issue previously, but thank you very much for posting it. If you would rather not deal with trolls blasting you in the future for helping devs, please feel free to PM me these things and I will look into them.
On the other hand, calling your players trolls, even if they do behave in such unconstructive manner, may be seen as not only unprofessional but also rude.
I realise that you’re not calling anyone in particular a ‘troll’, but saying what you did, you acknowledge the reader that you disrespect some of those posters.
Sometimes it’s just better to back off saying nothing than engage in a discussion.
So he should lie and tell us that we all great people as we kitten and murder babies, (just a example but the princpal the same). The defention of a troll is someone who is offensive to other players so you expect someone who offends people for fun for the developer to be repesctful and polite to these people. I think you expect the developers to be complete robots. I would prefer a company to be honest and realistic then for them to be complete robots and suck ups.
That does sound like the asura! And the asura home instance is a spacious lab complex where it seems you krewe probably live and work.
Asura family relations are complicated… I have the example from Eye of the North but I haven’t come across many examples to go off in GW2. At any rate, family is important, but children seem to go their separate ways from their parents and pursue their own projects at a reasonably young age (much like a norn seeking her own legend). I feel like many asura probably have a fondness for their parents, but also a burning drive to be better than them!
Seriously the Sylvaria don’t have parents so they don’t count but the Charr also dump their children and the family mostly ignores each other. Four of the five races leave their children or their children leave them as soon as possible. I would like Anet to actually do something different in this area.
It’s not nessicarly quoted from Tennyson. There have been many variatons of the line Trahearne says. Many people have used lines that mean the same thing so it could just be a varation or a direct quote from them.
what cycle you were born in for Sylvari, advisor for Norn. Sparring partner for Charr chooses the character who will stuck with you from 1 to 30.
Granted, I haven’t leveled a sylvari too far, but even in the early missions some of the dialogue brought up the cycle I chose. And the first mission brings in my cycle’s “leader” as an NPC. I have not read about the later sylvari missions to avoid spoilers, but I expect little things like this are present throughout, making the story not rely solely on which dream you chose.
I found the Sylvari boring so I never finished it but I did two of two of the 1 to 10 missions and I didn’t notice any signifcant dialogue. I believe they all have one meeting with the npc and an apperance in your home instance but that it. It doesn’t really impact on your story because they all same the same thing.
what cycle you were born in for Sylvari, advisor for Norn. Sparring partner for Charr chooses the character who will stuck with you from 1 to 30.
there are not going to bother fixing the bugs or old content or even new ones. We never got the scavenger hunt during the Lost shores.
The charr culture would mean they would produce more children as the parents would just dump at the fahar. So they wouldn’t worry about looking after the child and they would have more.
I know there’s a religious group in India that practices cannabalism in ceremony. i forget their name but they wait for bodies to be sent down river in funeral rights and eat small portions. But I don’;\t think they eat the brain either. Only meat.
Yes, I believe those are the ascetics of Shiva. Apparently they sometimes come and sit on a corpse, which is meant to be a great honour to the deceased and their family and people are supposed to leave him alone. They sometimes then eat the corpse for sustenance.
It is hardly a widespread practice however.
That is just kittened up.
Well, if I remember right, in the story both things get done. All you are doing is choosing which mission you wish to be a part of.
Well judging from everything else the would fail as no one can do anything without you being present, espceially in Guild Wars 2.
The mods are terrible on this forum. The ban people for the slightest infraction, delete posts because they don’t like them and merge threads when there is no need and just annoys people. I don’t care if they ban me or delete my post but these mods are complete kitten who don’t know how to do their kittening job.
The soverign eye tells us that Tybalt has been risen. Plus his body wasn’t on Claw Island so we can assume he was risen. Also we only explored half of Orr so act two could introduce him again.
The Separatists, because I agree with them, having been a Prophecies player who probably spent more time pre-Searing than in the main game.
As a young boy, I spent much time in these lands! Ascalon forever!
Well I would have agreed with a surface look at the separatists, but if you really break down all they have done it reveals how weak they are.
The Separatists always go for the essential supply lines and yet never attack key defensive or offensive outposts of the Charr. They act more like bandits then a military group.
So, what if they are holding back? I thought. Well, if that is not likely the separatists are a very small group, Ebonhawke itself is not that large and the separatists were a minority of them. Sure many humans hate Charr but most of them are in Kryta and do little more than talk dirty about them while drinking.
Likely what we see of the Separatists is their actual full power, and that said they seem to be able to do little more than act as bandits using the occasional trebuchet(which is likely just left over siege weapons from decades ago as Trebuchets are pretty low technology in Ascalon)
That said part of me wishes that you could play as a Separatist, I played GW1 and it always sat badly with me abandoning Ascalon, especially since on your own you took out armies of Charr! Just imagine what you could have done if you stayed especially with Stormcaller at your service!
Although after seeing the full extent of the Charr species throughout the GW series Ascalon was doomed to lose. The Charr do not care for casualties and reproduce at ridiculous rates
The only difference is that they hate the peace treaty. That might also hate Kryta which would leave them with a very small amount of supporters. Even less of these would actually fight for them. Kryta also has much bigger problems then fighting an old enemy with problems of their own and being on the other side of the moutains.
Thanks for all the answers guys, I don’t know which Anet has chosen so hopefully they shed some light on the subject
I think there’s a difference, too, in the kinds of minions Zhaitan has in his arsenal. In the quest that you’re talking about, it’s kind of implied that only the more horrific creations of Zhaitan’s are made at this ossuary, particulary at the beginning of the quest when you have to slay the surgeons on the ritual platform so that Trahearne can begin his own ritual thing.
I think for the most part the regular minions— like what you see roaming around Orr usually— are created through Zhaitan’s corruption, not by patchwork at the ossuary.
I agree with you Bander but it seems a waste of time to be attacking the ossuary instead of the the ark ship. By destorying the ark ship you also take down the crew and prevent Zhaitan shipping in reniforcments back to Orr.
