If condition is a problem and you have high enough Crit Chance, you can always pick up Sigil of Purity. EDIT: I meant Generosity, but Purity is good too.

I used guild of thieves. i’m like a mafia boss when I’m 1v1ing someone they’re like “haha bich kitten thief you can’t beat me and my pet wolf” and I’m like “lol homie what chu say TOM CHRISTINA ATTACK” then my mafia assassins come and start beating that piece of kitten wolf down while I go up and smash the stupid rangers face into my dagger and stick my gun into her chest and blow her heart out then when my mafia assassisn leave they’re like “come on man this was ez pz call us against the faceroll gaurdians they’re more of a challenge” then i’m like “kitten im the boss of you now get outa here you shady crap face losers” then i take the check point

Why don’t some people just give answers to the classes that are weak to something and strong to something? I don’t understand why there are some people in every game that feel the need to say that there are no strong or weak classes, it’s just what you enjoy the most and how you play them. They know that’s not entirely true but they say it anyways for what ever reason.
I don’t know the answer to your question because I’m still new but I assure you that some classes outshine others in certain areas of the game.

it basically is an option that lowers your fps for the purpose of making the game look more dull. like wth I don’t understand what it does, post processing on none has colors and everything (this is what I would think would be the high option) while post processing on high is making everything look more grey

I try to do steal + 1 or 3 + 1 but I can’t tell if my backstab is doing the damage or if my steal/3 is doing the damage. what am I supposed to click? more than half the time I do backstab then click steal my character doesn’t shadowstep, then if I do steal first I’m almost positive my backstab isn’t going off because I do like no damage to them… so what do I doooo
I can’t walk behind them because my stealth time is too short to hit them while they’re running around so I’m relying on shadow step abilities

Ok I don’t understand how something isn’t strong in sPvP but very strong in WvW, like what’s the difference? In sPvP I always sneak around and capture points away from where the main fighting is happening and there is usually no people there or 1 person I have to deal with before capturing that point. That’s pretty much roaming I think so why do you have to specify which PvP mode something is good or bad in?
edit: and I like the panic strike build but is trickery at 2 and shadow arts at 6 damagey as well because I think I’m gonna die a lot going 60206
Some annoying differences that for thief is important:
- Overal movement speed is decreased on sPvP.
- Revealed lasts for 4 seconds instead of 3 for Pve/WvW
- Some skills, like Cloak&Dagger deal less damage.
- Difference on equipment because of the lack of trinkets on sPvP (there is only amulets here)
- Terrain usage varies. Even tough it follows the same logic, the use of terrain changes a lot on both game modes.
- You can’t cap points on stealth at sPvP
And some other stuff.
The reason why, say, builds like 0/6/6/2/0 doesn’t work is because the extra second on revealed and reduce movement screw up the timing on those builds. Plus you can’t cap points on stealth meaning that you are most likely going to lose the point you are trying to capture unless you manage to kill your target.
And yes, you will probably die a lot as a thief, thats for granted.
The point of the Thief on SPvP is to arrive unnoticed, burst everyone down and move to the next spot. You most of the time won’t be under pressure, but when you are you will mostly die until you learn to survive better.
Oh I see, guess I need to change my playstyle then. I’m too ballsy, like warrior ballsy, I tend to make people know I’m there to kill them then go in face first instead of being sneaky lol… I even walk up to people and stealth in front of them but I think that’s because I run out of stealth if I do it from far away
and I’m never doing sPvP once I hit level 80 I’m going straight for WvW and that’s it SCREW THIS ANTI-THIEF MODE
edit: oh wow I’m trying 26006 and it’s actually doing good burst like I took away 3/4 of someones hp in one hit, but I die right after that because idk what to do lol

I’m having trouble dealing damage in sPvP so I googled some stuff and apparently health and defense is increased and damage is decreased in sPvP. That’s what I don’t get, how are these stats buffed and nerfed in sPvP? Like do they take away a flat amount of power from each character and give them a flat amount of armor or what? And is it a big difference, will I be seeing more damage on a thief when I hit 80 and go into WvW?

I’m still trying to figure out the best traits for me so I’m watching youtube videos and in this one guy is somehow 1v2ing tons of people with that 0/6/6/2/0 build. how is he doing so much damage even though he went pretty tanky? he doesn’t have jack kitten on his steal and he’s owning everyone

I took off shadow’s embrace because I wanted that steal trait in trickery, it gives so much stuff and it’s only a level 1 trait so I thought it was op

ugh there is so much stuff to consider when making your own traits from scratch… all these traits fill the holes other traits leave open but there are just so many good ones and I only got 14 point QQ
and I completely forgot about that last trait in the crit tree… that is pretty kitten useful for the way I play. i’ll do what ever the meta crit build is and switch it up a little to my liking

wowowowow I should of invested my money into the armor crafting instead of weaponsmithing kitten it. now all I’m gonna get out of weaponsmithing is my gun and bow.
and I like the stats on this dagger (it was a chest so I got to choose from a crap load of different weapons).

I just got a chest that gave me an inquisit dagger for level 80 and the stats look really nice. Are they good items? Like final end game items? its type is exotic

why are they using dx9? Isn’t that one really old? I remember playing vindictus which uses dx11 and there was an option to use multiple cores, would be cool if they used that for this game but I guess it’s too late at this point.

I’m just worried about getting bad FPS because once I heard this game is cpu intensive AND about this core stuff I got worried
They adopted DX9 during the initial dev of the game due to the date. They maintain DX9 due to compatibility with older systems. if they rolled to DX11 or DX12 a lot of users would have to get a new OS, possibly a new GPU, or an entirely new PC.
can’t they just make another client that uses dx11 then? idk if that makes any sense lol I don’t know anything about this stuff but what I’m saying is there is one GW2 client (the one we have now) for dx9 people then they make another one for the dx11/12 people to download and use

My CPU has 4 cores (it is AMD) and I heard intel is preferred for this game because this game does not utilize multiple cores (which is amd’s strong point) by default. Is there any way I can make guild wars 2 use the other cores of my processor? Feels like much potential is wasted

man I wish I picked this class instead of thief, thief is way too hard. when I made the thread everyone said warrior was the most popular but while playing my thief I NEVERRRRR see a warrior, only guardians.
I’ll probably level a warrior once I get my thief to 80 but until then I don’t feel like starting from level 1 again

ok that makes since since I’m in a map that’s 20 lowers than me but why exactly is my crit chance in this map higher than my normal crit chance? There are no buffs on me.

My crit chance says 68% but when I hover over the number it says “chance to hit critical damage 45”. It does this with all my stats where it changes the number. Which is the real one?
edit: actually I just added up my power and looked so I guess its the number you get when you put your cursor over that stat but why exactly does it tell you two different numbers?

wow i was thinking 66020 would be the best as well. you get a kitten ton of power, crit strike, crit power, and condition stuff which makes your 1 and 2 abiltiies do sooo much damage. then the 2 points there would be for a little survivability. i think you should practice this build then practice the ones those guys suggested and see what you like best .
but really i don’t get why no one uses 66020 it seems really strong

I LOVE dagger storm for wvw projectile reflection. Pvp basilisk venom all the way. I never really use the other ones as they don’t have as much on demand utility as I would like from a thief elite. Hope I was at least a bit helpful and good luck gaming fellow thief
I think I’m going to use thieves guild but once I unlock the next tier I’ll get dagger storm since that does look pretty strong

Just hit 31 and I can buy an elite skill so I want your guys opinions. Out of all of them the thieves guild one looks kitten awesome. Unless the guys you summon just stand there and do nothing I can’t see why you wouldn’t take it besides its long cool down.
The venom looks nice for PvPing and the grim reaper one seems really strong. I don’t like the Melandru ability though, sounds dumb and boring and weak and not thief-like
