My gripe with the Watchknights is that their inclusion of T&A is just lazy design. I did do an eyeroll when I first saw them. There are so many ways to show femininity without resorting to T&A. I am tired of watching the mentality of “Do we want it to be a woman? Just give it boobs!” everywhere. It’s everywhere. I’m tired of having this shoved down my throat. It’s equivalent to those teenage girls who go into FPS matches and scream “I’M A GURL GAMER! LOOK AT ME! I’M A GUUURL AND I PLAY GAMES!” when it’s like “you have a hole between your legs okay great me too.” Yes watchknights, we know you are supposed to be a woman, stop flaunting your sexy butts at us. We know.

Normally, that kind of design just makes me shake my head and move on. But the added insult here is that all of these features are entirely unnecessary to the robot. Having boobs or giant hips from a practicality and logic standpoint doesn’t make sense (inb4 “it’s fantasy!” and “it’s magic!” – please just don’t), nor does having stilettos on a robot (gag).

Sure, we can put boobs and a nice butt on things. I don’t care, I’m a butt-woman myself. But lazily slapping on some T&A on a thing that doesn’t even need these things in any logical situation at all bugs me to the max. If they came up with a design that incorporates femininity without having to resort to lazy boobs and butt addition, I would have been very impressed and much more happy with the model, whereas right now the Watchknights just sit in my mind as yet another thing that a creator needed to show was a woman, so they put some cones on its chest and gave it a big pelvis.

I will praise their tallness and long legs. It makes them intimidating and reminds me of Bayonetta who has the longest legs in the world. But I think they could have opted for something else other than lazy, impractical T&A.

That being said, nobody here is saying the art team did a bad job – despite my negative opinion, the work done on the watchknights was wonderful and the art team did a great job. I still really like their butts.

I’m surprised no one in this entire thread jumped at the chance of discussion of power fantasies and false equivalences yet in regards to male vs. female sexualisation.

FUN FACT for anyone discussing boobies on the robots: Apparently having boobplates on armour would kill you faster because instead of deflecting blades, the shape of the boobplates drives blades towards the center of your chest, and if you were to fall forward, the outward divets on your boobs would drive into your chest and injure/kill you, were you to sustain a hard enough blow.

I’ve noticed that male asura generally tend to have a very nasally quality to their voices.

You could try looking in the guild recruitment forum. Most people who are looking for others to play with just join guilds since there’s a bajillion of them and a lot of them are newbie-friendly.

I absolutely hate when people thank me for taking my time to rez them when I could’ve just ignored them. I mean, who are they to type such unnecessary filler garbage to flood my precious chatbox? The nerve of some people.

Why not both? Nobody can tell you how you have fun. Personally I like thief better than ranger.

A lot of people can’t seem to stomach more than one ranger in their party, but I have this sentiment about thieves instead… More than two thieves in party, I groan.

How does this area affect anyone else’s gameplay? Why are we complaining about it?

I haven’t liked any skins from LS other than Sclerite and the chance of getting those was rarer than finding an honest politician. I can’t tell if the Sovereign are ‘shiny’ or not from the pictures posted, but I hope they tone down on the ‘shiny’ with future weapon releases… I’m happy that Jade weapons did not have shiny even though I didn’t care for them.

Sucks, I did not get to vote. I know it is my fault for waiting so long and I did not see the time posted, but I wish the time could have been displayed more prominently.

SAB was amazing because it wasn’t more silly mini-games we keep being pelted with where we can’t play with friends. SAB was cooperative with your friends and also very exciting, witty and brought a lot of nostalgia!

I still have to do dungeons and fractals for it. Will I not be able to complete these achievements after the sixth?

I play male guardian because whenever I main a female heavy-armour class in any game, they come out with ridiculous iron bikinis and I like to look like a knight and not a stripper.

I don’t think a single person in this entire thread has merit to tell other people how to play the game.

Personal rant: The disparity between male and female armour is god-awful and the juvenile wish-fulfillment dream of every sweaty nerd in his basement. Males look like total bad-kittens, and then… the dreaded iron bikini for females. Literally.

After I got the hang of things from doing the Evon trials, it was relatively simple for me in Kiel’s as a thief (zerk D/D and S/P). Use scorpion wire to pull the plunderer on the far right after he returns with the loot, Pistol Whip, hurray! I also liked to use the immobilize trap just to stall for time since things got a little crazy. I made significant use of Basilisk Venom too.

Agree with above, I tried a necro and HATED it at first. It’s now my third favourite after thief and guardian. You never know what could surprise you.

I like to rez. Even if in most people’s minds rezzing at X particular time is terrible, if I can’t score this downed person a rally, I just facetank the damage and rez the guy. It feels good. I usually revive people no matter what.

Of course, that’s only on my guardian, who I deem as the iron medic. I stay the fuq away from everyone and anything on my squishies and will only rez you if there is nothing within a 50 foot radius of you.

Edit: I lied, I don’t rez people who sit under claw of jerpmag’s ice and get DoT’d to death. That’s just bad news all around.

I just wish they wouldn’t be pvp-based so I could actually play with friends instead of competing against them. That’s why SAB is still the best in my eyes.

I’m not really sure what this system would give that isn’t already there, in terms of money and effort. You have the mats? You can just as easily sell them and use the money to buy the gear. Big difference between the prices? That’s the commission.

I think the suggestion is more tailored to the new max crafting level, since you can’t trade the ascended things, and you would be able to commission a high-level crafter to make you the non-tradeable ascended things.

Usually I can pull through all these cause CHEEVOS, and even through the Dragon Ball, but mein gott I am sitting this one out. I have a seething, utter vehemence for Southsun Survival and playing more than 15 games for the cheevo makes me want to claw my eyes out.

Finishing the T3/T4 Candidate Trials was more fun than this imo. (Now waiting for someone to reply to me and tell me I’m batsh** insane.)

I’m a member of a guild called “Commendation” whose sole purpose it is to give players the possibility to gain commendation whose primary guilds are too small for guild activities. When GC hosts events (several times a week), I represent them for the duration of the guild activity, get my commendation, and go back to my own guild. So technically, you have to represent the guild during the activity to be able to participate and get commendation.

There are many guilds who ask members to represent them 100% of the time (this guild ^ isn’t one of them).

90% of all pve thieves suck and die in two hits, you’re better off going engie since they are a jack of all trades and have a lot more versatility. Thieves might do crazy damage but they don’t do damage if they’re eating dirt.

I always wanted to try support thief but I’m not really so sure if it’s worth it, really the only team-oriented things are Bountiful Theft, Thrill of the Crime, maybe Shadow Protector, and Venomous Aura (though venoms in and of themselves are kind of lackluster atm).

You’d more than likely have to sacrifice some of the str or crit line to get some of these though, and depending how deep you’re going into other non-dps trees, you would cut a lot of your damage.

I like the medium armor. Y’all be crazy.

I like it alright but it has the same problem as all current medium armor, your armor is your coat and nothing else, it covers everything and there is no opportunity to individualize your character by mixing and matching.

Well someone at Anet in the art department agrees with this and the reason I say this is I noticed some bandits in the CM dungeon that were wearing a light top with medium pants. . . hmm I wonder why? Because light armor has no pants and medium armor has no shirts, just trench coats. And it looked good. Seriously the bandits get to be more fashion forward than PC.

There needs to be overall more diversity in the clothes, I think I can only think of two pants for light female, the rest are dresses and skirts.

A good number of ladies clothes is them bearing midriffs and boobs around, why can’t there be equally skimpy clothes for men as well?

And the trenchcoats, why do we keep getting trenchcoats for medium? We have thieves, engineers, and rangers – why can’t we have styles that cater to archetypes of all of these ? I think there’s two really ‘roguish’ type of clothes, one of which is strictly for Human T3 cultural, and I’m not a fan of the underboob (just my opinion).

Why does heavy armour always get to look super epic but not anything else? Well… I guess more like, why did we get the shiny/fiery achievement rewards that look like heavy armour?!
