I think that it should have given an ascended backpack or maybe a high level agony infusion.
Won’t this just make assassin and zerker stronger?
I wonder what risen, branded, Icebrood centaurs would have looked like.
We may get to see Modrem Centaurs like the Modrem wolves?
Pikes are polearms that have hook shaped heads and are used for pulling foes or wood running down river streams.
Aren’t Pikes just longer and stronger spears, like the Sarissa used by Macedon. Halberds were usually used to pull foes from horses I think.
NOOoooOOOooo!
*15 char?
It is a free game after all so i’m not going to be demanding and entitled as the rest of you but i will say that i think their resources should go to PvP and end game dungeons more than anything else.
There have been some non conquest maps found through datamining and one dev slipped about a spvp release not too long ago (just after the spvp tournament). So that’s something to watch out for.
How does one “un-sub” or formally “quit” playing GW2 in such a way that ANet could survey such a demographic?
I mean, I “quit” for over 6 months after the Ascended Tier announcement…yet here I am. I even gave my opinion, freely, no survey required, right here on the forums…got infracted for it, but there it was for the world to see, well til it was deleted.
I suppose it wasn’t as pretty a metric as a survey result of yes or no questions…
It’s true they don’t have that system of reporting. When I dropped the game during the series of blunders that were put forth with kit refinement, DR and the 9 month drop drought we had, I posted to their support team page so that they could forward it to the devs as to why I was leaving. I did so because there was no formal “why are you leaving” unsub request for information on their game or their website. I came back for feature patch to see what had changed but I gotta say as an Engineer in PVE they have a long long way to go baby and before I spend a permanent amount of time they’ve gotta lot to fix. So I come here waiting watching the patch notes and announcements to see if things will get better. If no I’ve already moved on to a more permanent status in other titles so that I can at least have fun with developers that care that I login and play.
Despite how negative that sounded I’m hopeful that they are on the right track and will first before anything else rebalance PVE back to where it was for Engineers because just like Hunters in WoW, These devs have nerfed Engineers into the ground in PVE and it’s time for a fix. Combat balance in PVE is first step imo, the second is fixing their trinity so that condition damage builds, CC and support actually matter, and the third fix in the series imo would be the rewards revamp I’ve been waiting for for 8 months now particularly in the open world.
There are some minor things I’d love to see but those three are priority to get this game back on track imo.
What exactly is wrong with engie in PVE that makes them so weak? As far I can see they have one of the best dps, a lot of utility, and have received many buffs in the last patch and will receive more in the future ones.
So first step? how exctaly? what exactly is wrong?
Conditions really are a problem and a difficult one to fix. But they are working on it (Gaile actually told us that today too).
Support is very relevant in pve, especially offensive support like boons. CC is however an issue against bosses because of the defiant system (this too Anet once tried to get discussions on how to fix).
I don’t understand reward rework a lot especially in open world since well most of it is easy with little effort so it really shouldn’t very rewarding unless you are a new player. world bosses are rewarding, that’s why so many do them.
The thing is also many people don’t really like underwater combat, probably because its too confusing and they aren’t well prepared for it. I remember trying to do hotw boss on my ele and i had no idea what my skills actually did since not only was the ele not my main but aside from one fractal and some underwater hearts we don’t get much opportunity to use it.
In pvp it is obviously unbalanced, some professions are much better than others. The PVE side could be alleviated with more underwater content to make people prepare for underwater combat.
But yeah I don’t think its a priority and we probably wont see much until the deep sea dragon.
During the living story releases it was evident that many people were logging on the first day or the first few days of the story’s release and then would not log in until the next step. Two weeks breaks are fine but this phenomena would also be seen with expansions especially if they are as “needed” as people claim them to be.
This leads to the question of what is better in terms of game health and revenue. Is it a life line of expansions that part of the population will buy to complete in under a week or month? This would result in spike activity at certain times and stagnation in the rest especially if people want as much new stuff in the expansions as they have stated (new classes, races, etc.).
Or is it better to have a slower medium of content delivery that gives incentive to at least log in bimonthly and play for a day or two for free and be informed of all of the new gem store items that are regularly introduced? This is part is apparently sustainable by 20 people, but I think should have more support to release more content (which is primarily what everyone wants).
An expansion would also probably shift the revenue stream from GW2 completely and end up being the primary source of revenue if enough people keep buying it and playing in longer bursts. This will also weaken the revenue from gems since the people bursting would be less exposed to releases. Another problem is WvWvW and sPvP both of these strive to achieve a competitive scene and the fragmented nature of expansions can hurt this a lot especially the WvW. Expansions would also remove incentives to improve these areas since expansions are mainly pve (pvp would be too unfair) and may become the primary source of revenue. The retention from wvw would then be insignificant. The longer burst nature would also be very harmful to wvw.
Living story can alleviate most of the concerns if only it produces more diverse content and well produces more. The problem is that content would always be slower than the player mastery of the content. One concern with living story however is that it does not seem to be as marketable as an expansion. This can be mended if Anet were to release teasers for the whole season but that can be bit spoilerly.
Didn’t they raise the cap for the WvWvW tournament? They must have lowered it again.
- Why doesn’t the “match my level” filter in the TP actually just match my level?
I think this is for the lower levels in-which many levels only have gear of one stat combo or rarity on the tp.
Mesmer Phantasm utilities (the phantasmal defender and enchanter?) aren’t used much either.
Maybe some sort of unholy Skrit and Asura hybrid which was a result of a mad asura and is maybe like Deadpool in that he has two personalities. The more shinies he is near the more Skrit like he behaves. The Asura of course hate the very existence of this new hybrid race and the Skrit are suspicious of their dominant Asuran side.
later gives you one hour i think. long enough for most bosses.
I was recommended to play gw2 by my friend. I saw him playing a ranger and use a way point; it all looked so smooth. My campus also has it’s own gw2 guild. So i saved up some money and bought the game but alas by that time very few of the campus played it. I actually don’t think i ever got to play with any of them. Now that guild is dead but it’s alright they weren’t mmo players anyway.
I leveled up my ranger to late 30s. He was a human called Azraeel Seraph and i was very surprised to see that humans had a military police force called seraph too. I ended up taking a long break after getting tired of the toxicity on the forums at the time (never should have checked). It was around the time of ascended release i think so everyone was up in arms over that and the ranger forum was filled with tears and warrior envy.
I came back few months later and made a warrior, who became my first 80. I was going around wearing knight green gear (I couldn’t afford rare) and using a regen banner build. The warrior got boring fast and i took another smaller break. I returned and after a lot of research and many many low level characters later i made a sylvari mesmer named Loki Jotunn (I had forgotten about the jotun race and didn’t think that people would asociate the name with norn).
The mesmer took some effort to level up to 80 but i liked it a lot. After getting to 80 and getting exotics gear I had another break and returned few months ago and this time i made and leveled to 80 all classes except for ranger and necro, who are in the process). I have started to log in less and less often because of classes and getting bored easily (more because of my own fickleness rather than the game’s shortcomings).
Overall I am glad that i got the game even though in almost two years i haven’t even passed the 1000hrs mark. It is a superb game and its a pity that more games aren’t like it.
Why do people believe that post history and ad hominem are in any way relevant to an argument?
I recomend just taking a break, it doesn’t hurt much to do that in this game. Halloween update is at 21th of October and living story will restart at Nov. 4.
I don’t think anyone has found any appreciable difference from these stats (it would be hard to do so) so no need to grind them.
Doing a raid like an old-school MMO isn’t going to cut it for longevity. It needs a sufficiently random element to extend play time and keep players from developing rotes like stack & smack.
It sounds a lot like fractals. I think honestly most of the concerns can be mitigated if they add and continue to add fractals; anet has already said that they are easier to do than dungeons. The fractals could also be of varying difficulties with making the harder ones available later (might not be a very good idea though unless they are prohibitively difficult and can’t be made easier for lower levels). With a dedicated time table (maybe 4-5 a year) for fractal releases it can develop to be a very good system (refining rewards would also be nice, fractals should be at least as rewarding as dungeons).
For the large scale hard content crowd I think boss battles are better than something like dungeon paths to do especially in the open world (Something like Balthazar but in Maguuma perhaps or making shatterer stronger).

There are different kinds of air ships too; the militaristic ones from the pact or the zephyr ones. Another possibility is mobile Asuran floating cube buildings. There are a number of possibilities from. i don’t know blimp charr war machines.
It may also may be an opportunity to finally learn more about that floating castle in kessex hills.
it was lvl29 i think, no idea if it is fixed or not.
It takes me quite a long while to pick the names
I wish that they made the existing armors skins rather than armor which needs to be transmutated.
I guess they can enable the wheel only for makeover kits etc to keep the exclusivity of colors and the revenue from it.
this is not a phantasmal build…
I would like some more low level armor choices and unique skins for the leveling reward weapons.
my concern with regular ordinary weapon updates is that it may make the wardrobe too messy.
The most credible way to testing would probably be on an engineer since we don’t know how much of the loot we used to get was profession based (warriors are much more likely to get weapons they can used regardless of the changes) and the size would need to be large.
can they duel too?
Fast and easy perhaps but i would not consider it best, i have seen too many people advise new players to level their first character though it.
It’s probably an issue of transaction costs (time, red tape, hierarchy, and decision making) . They probably find that decision making and bureaucratic hurdles are better overcome in bulk than numerous times quickly unless it is to fix something so high in priority that it justifies the transaction costs.
oh and isn’t LS team only about 20 people? vent frustrations elsewhere.
they can only really use say chat now though unless they join guilds
if they are already lvl 20-30 then most of the bad features of the NPE don’t really apply to them or will soon no longer apply…
and what’s up with the hyperbole people?
you have to take them out of the bank collection first and unlock them like you do other skins
oh and you wont be able to put them back inside, so it might be worth it to just take out a single mini if you have many of same
I’m pretty sure that its still on the internal 10 sec cooldown. Not sure about second question.
Well here is what Colins said about the downed State change.

people are scared of Change.
i wil never unserstand the reason people say that " WE DONT WANT NEW ENDGAME "
if you dont want to do it. dont do it.
but for those of us veteran players that got bored of doing the same stuff everyday. let us plead for new content at level 80 so we stay and have fun playing.
without us veteran players Gw2 would be very quiet.
-we NEED new content.
*its as simple as thatI’m not scared of change. I enjoy change. But there are people on these forums asking for specific types of changes that some other people don’t want. Just because you don’t like certain specific changes, doesn’t mean you don’t like change.
Change is necessary in all MMOs to keep them vital. There are probably not enough changes to skills in Guild Wars 2 to keep people adjusting all the time.
But now that china is launched, I expect changes to start coming more quickly.
i would not bet on that.
me personally, i would not value a few changes in a year or 2 to justify the time i spend playing this game.
if it continues, for me personally ill quit and for like minded people who think the same as me, i would bet they would quit too.
you may say we are a minority, but how many people moan on a daily basis? both ingame and in forums about what this game has to offer for the time and effort most of us put it?
it makes you think, it makes you suggest things on the forums but in the end, it doesnt matter as we see countless times that every update is underwhelming and not hitting points that many have made before.
it feels liek a continuous cycle so i cannot see how you think waiting around will change anything. because CHANGE is not in this games bios.
I don’t get this.
Justify the time you spent playing?
What do you mean? Why spend the time if it needs justification?
What is it that the game has to offer “for the time and effort most of us put in?”
I get that you liked playing the game, at least I hope so or else that time playing really was wasted, and want more content to freshen it up a bit but claiming that the time playing was unjustified seems like more emotion than sense. The thing that GW2 is very good with is that you can drop it and pick it up again anytime without much loss. If you are tired of the game but still like it, much like I am, then stop playing it for a while.
Name: Loki Jotunn
Server: Crystal Desert
Play: Pve but want to do WvW too
Role: Scholar
Playtime: Weekends, noon, evening
think of them as some kind of mind magic. we create illusions in an opponent’s mind that hurt them. works for structures because structures are hiding something sinister.
they are avian humanoids,
they need some polish before being made playable of course but they have good potential, especially with the culture.
Started with a ranger leveled to lv.36 got a bit bored. took a month break.
Then started a warrior, got him to 80. But it felt like a very simplistic class. I was a banner warrior.
Then created a Mesmer, was by second try at creating one since early levels are bit painful, but I really like him. lots of different playstyles to work with (Shatter, Phantasm, Glamor, Mantra (haven’t tried that yet)) and its a very active class. Wish he moved a little faster but I’m so used to using blink while running now that it feels boring to run on other classes.
Trying to make another alt, created a thief and an ele (level 7-11), but don’t know which to focus or maybe recreate a ranger or a necro.
Well there was a big WvW (RvR I guess) update a week or so ago that ended culling (so no more fighting in empty fields) and introduced titles and a WvW skill system. Numbers are still advantageous ofcourse. the Dungeons are on the trend of becoming harder rather than easier (they have only reworked AC currently) by introducing more skills to mobs and changing some boss mechanics (e.g. traps for ghost eater)
I hate Krait a little more than them… the cutthroat slaver culture full of deadly surprises both deep underground and up above on their towers…
I think he means how the names of the members are sorted among the ones online. I don’t think that its alphabetical, but I haven’t been online in a while.
Edit: Nevermind, yeah order of guilds is sorted chronologically, earliest first.
I usually get less than 2 hours of game play per day during the week. When I am in between my classes on campus. Dailies usually take me less than 30mins of playing normally unless there are many annoying options (I haven’t played any fractals yet, nor do i do WvW) so I may take five minutes to do a jp or something. I just started doing spvp few days ago and that daily is very fast too.
What I don’t understand is the falling behind part. The obligation to do the daily or falling behind. I’m curious who you are racing against (everyone I guess…). You just can’t not play and expect progression to your goal. That view simply leads to the “every moment I’m not playing is a moment I’m falling behind” if laurels were to become farmable. What you are suggesting (consolidating laurel rewards to monthlies and weeklies) actually makes the problem you described worse since failure to complete those things hurts worse and the “left behind” attitude becomes a larger concern.
Dailies really are the best compromise, if you fail to do one its not really a big deal you have lost one laurel, and one can’t farm it and get ahead of everyone else. It is fair that someone got to goal before me since they played while I did not. This isn’t a winner take all system, the goal is still waiting for me to approach it rather than disappearing with the winner.
I started playing GW2 again about a little over a month ago with the creation of a new character (last one was only lvl36) and have 40 some laurels. I only completed one daily this week (two midterm exams, one essay, and a birthday party), not much of a loss really.
The point is that daillies aren’t hard, nor is the failure to complete them very crippling. They are supposed to be a slow and steady avenue for laurel accumulation that is boosted somewhat significantly by the monthlies. Failing to complete a monthly will set you back quite a bit but significantly less so than if laurels were consolidated there. (25% of monthly laurels through monthly as opposed to 75%-100%).
I don’t really see any need for them to be instanced unless they are extremly different from the world around them, like the SAB, most jumping puzzles that we have are ingrained quite nicely in the atmosphere, some are difficult to find while others, like morgan’s spiral, are pretty outstanding on the map.
Your idea does have a precedent, one of the jumping puzzles in LA leads to a Pirate themed weapons vendor. More variety like this should not be unwelcomed, even (or maybe especially because, for some) if they are just skins.
Audio Logs? what are those?
The dragon looks great.
I like pride, and orchid and karma
Loki Jotunn, I had completly forgotten about the Jotunn race, and even the Norns. He’s a male Sylvari.
