The Revenant went through many changes from its original concept.

I believe its time to let go of some of the older design concepts that are still around, such as the Energy System, and the Legend Swap mechanics.

Legend Swap should be designed around frequent swapping like Engineer Kits, instead of the cooldown version we have today.

Cooldowns are all thats needed. the Energy system was an old concept that just never worked out. Yeah cool call back to GW1, but it doesnt even work like GW1 does.

Took a break and came back and now I cant figure out how to bind this. it was removed.

Its the one with with secondary mechanic. Should be F5 by default if I am not mistaken

I want something different from the controlled PvP. Something different from the 5v5 arena matches.

I would like some 10 vs 10, or 20 vs 20 like Battlefront with objectives of multiple kinds and longer battle times.

WvW just isnt cutting it for me, due to so much PvD and the zerg is too hard hitting now without healers.

I would like something in the middle of controlled group, and larger group sizes than 5v5 and with objectives of both offense and defense.

Expansion 2, is the perfect place to introduce new Weapon Types into the game.
at this point, 1 new weapon type just wont do. we need at least 3.

Some of my favorites are:

Land Spear/Lance
Crossbow

There won’t be a new race in the near future, simply because it is a lot more effort then “just” a class.

A new race means, that every content before ahs to be converted to fit the class, which means:
- Every armor and outfit has to be adjusted to fit.
- A new starter zone with new story, that ties in somwhere
- Several different design options for the class
- Recording and writing a lot of stuff
- Content that takes advantage if the class has to be adjusted (like race specific dialog), throughout the whole game.
- and many other things.

While the game has been improved, it still isn’t at a state, where they can pull reccources into this (unfortunatly).

As for races, there are several possible, all in front the Tengu, followed by the Kodan.

that all would be a total waste of money since it could be going to new content in the game to be played, and new weapons to collect.

I believe its fine as is. Just the new Elite Specs need balance patch.

Remember Elite Specs are a new way to play the classes. Thats why you lose one spec line to use it. Its a sacrifice for a new way of playing the class. So in its own self, its a new class itself from the parent class. I say balance the new classes around its own design, dont touch the parent classes.

It shouldn’t stay as weak as it currently is also a offensive component gods against what the legend represents.

We revenants, not Ventari. We just use copies of his powers from memory of the mist.
hence why we can still attack with Staff,.

So what exactly is the purpose of Ventari/Salvation trait line?

its not really improved. its getting nerfed. I took a break, and come back to more nerfs.

Support was one of the appeals I had going into HoT, but it was nothing in comparison to a vanilla Ele support.

I would like to see this go into a different direction or gets improved in its roles.

I made a Trinity Concept idea a few years ago.

it worked like this.

In PvE Dungeons/Instances, all CC get reduced.. But there is a defensive stat that players can collect to increase the duration of CC and the effect of CC on defiant mobs. So Players can spec for the Controller role.

The control stat can also have a side effect of increasing incoming heals. This makes +healing seem more valued for people that spec heals.

DPS same.

Defensive stats get new stats added for defense, to spec into as a trade off for damage and healing, so everybody dont just run full hybrid and full dps

SPvP was killed with HoT intro of Arenas. Now we get punished for losing so now Min/Max mentality kicks in and with that being said, people when getting multiple losses won’t want to queue up anymore. The only mode that doesn’t have this is Unranked and that has maps that many don’t like. So really I just stop playing SPvP, which before HoT was one of my two primary areas of gameplay. Mete Events being the other.

I just stopped logging in now. No fun anymore to be punished for playing. I left WoW’s Arena when they first introduced it in TBC for this very reason. Punishment makes people try to minimize the punishment and that means even more min/maxing, which leads to nothing but premades and playing unbalanced classes over classes you simply enjoy playing.

With the exception of Ogden, they’re all either dead, still turned to stone and fighting underground, or living as hermits (while turned to stone).

we dont know that for sure.

Remember Eye of the North expansion and how that opened up some races to learning new stuff about races they had already knew about.

so its possible we still dont know everything about the Dwarfs.

So if somebody is using ventari, and under attack, should they use AoE heal or not? One use won’t do the job, so do I spam or swap legends. Shiro comes up, now what? Do Ispam avoid or use heal and something else. What?

What can iI do that won’t require spam of a legend skill that already cost around 20-30 energy?

I hated Arenas in WoW and I hate them here. HoT killed SPvP for me. Hate playing it now. The community is very bad now. Witnessed this same situation when WoW introduced Arenas as the main PvP in TBC, ifs first expansion. Slowly the battleground became nothingness as progression was weak there. But Arena requires premades to be success, and players prefer meta when forming groups. Aka best class in slot. That ruins PvP for people that don’t play meta.

Got to admit, “hate” is a term, that doesn’t fit in this case in my opinion. Way too heavy. But “dislike”, yes, I pretty much dislike this expansion for several reasons.

Apparently I’ve been stupid enough to throw 100€ at Arenanet in order to get an expansion, that makes me quit a few weeks later after a lot of years of playing Guild Wars. Which is sad. And a bit frustrating.

First let’s take a look on what type of player I really am. I’m a mid 20 guy with a full-time job, I study, I do sports regularly, have a girlfriend and a music project (second girlfriend) as well. So my time schedule is extremely unpredictable, so …

… raiding is pretty much nothing I can take care of. Pugging has always been a high risk factor due to the meta driven toxic playerbase. Dungeons and Fractals provided much more freedom. I could gather some friends for them almost all the time, try hilarious builds, theory crafting a bit and that’s it. Of course, after the years that content gets pretty much boring. Every content gets boring after rushing it year after year. Are new Dungeons added? No, their rewards are gutted so no one wants to do them anymore. Are new Fractals added? No, they are not. No need to stay here, doing the same content after three years is not what I call “fun”.

What has been the most interesting part of this game? PvP and WvW, right. Did theory crafting for both modes and I enjoyed it. Haven’t been bad either. Constructed several builds for all classes until they finally worked out well. Right now the PvP-meta is a total power creep without any tactic involved, thanks to the imbalance of the classes. Most of the PvE-players complain about Anet balancing on base on PvP, so they never achieve balance in PvE and I understand that. Fun fact: This company balances on base on PvP and even that is a complete mess right now. So, what about WvW? Well, because of the new map we, Elona Reach, don’t have any enemies anymore. Only a handful of servers are left, who care about the borderlands. Most of them seemed to abandon them. At the moment I don’t enjoy this particular game mode either.

The visuals and the design of the new maps are simply gorgeous, great job on that aspect. I even like TD. But the mob density is a bit overtuned in my opinion. These mobs aren’t even more challenging, they are more annoying. Very important difference! The raid is more challenging, yes. The mobs on the new maps aren’t. They’re just there to slow you down, to annoy you to oblivion, it seems.

Story, no big comment on that topic. Better than the last half of the base story, but still horribly executed.

So after all, what’s left for me? New maps with boring metas on timers I cannot stick to due to my unpredictable time schedule. Achievements I don’t care about, because they don’t add anything to the gameplay besides adding some points to an irrelevant number in your ingame profile. I just want to play a game due to the fact that the gameplay is fun. Not due to collections with skins as a reward, that are not even interesting for me. If HoT even has any skins.

WvW was already dead, HoT just cremated the body.

The new Maps aren’t really as fun honestly. Lack of skins. This expansion should have as many new skins as Vanilla imo. Where are all those resources gone?

Also we should have more cool meta bosses on rotation by now. Bring back Twisted .

The game needs more options. Buy I don’t have enough hero points anyway to do anything anyway so all that exp is wasted. So I play less now.

I miss when anet made Armor skins in the gem store. At least they were good looking in their own cool way. but now we have to wait for new skin to be added to PvE content such as expansion packs. And how many new armor skins do we get in this expansion pack again? I hate this treasure box concept for weapon skins and there’s not many cool looking weapons means that a new added to the game other than legendary and precursors which sucks big time. so how about bringing back armor skins to the gym store

There’s a flaw in your logic. ANet never specifically wanted to get RID of healer’s and tanks, it just wanted every class to be able to do most anything.

Example they used way back when was an Elementalist swapping to Water Attunement to provide healing for the group.

The goal they set out to achieve wasn’t to get rid of tanks/healers per se, but to make it so X class isn’t REQUIRED to perform Y role in a group.

No they said they want to get away from it. I don’t feellike doing this again and searching for all tthe prerelease qjuotes. But they legitly said that and even made fun of those roles. Which is why for a long time Healing Power was a useless stat.

Truth is that design concept sound good on paper but that’s as far as it goes. Just like the water combat idea. Sound cool but never really was a good practical idea. So the Anti-trinity concept was abandoned.

SPvP’s instanced concept with locked group sizes and balanced group sizes and queue.

Elementalist Elite Spec becomes Shaman.

Shaman wield the powers and fury of the elements through their Hammer and slams it into the face of their enemies.

Totems similar to Glyphs, will change effect based on the Element the Shaman is attuned to. Totems have their own Health Poor separate from the Shaman and will hover in the place that they were summoned to until consumed.

Avatar Form (F5) changes the form of the Shaman for temporary time period. Graphically Avatar Form changes you into a creature based on your race, but function the same across all races. Example: Charr Avatar form is an Effigy, and Asura Avatar form looks like a Golem, Sylvari avatar form looks like a Oakheart. But they are just visual effects to fit their fantasy. The Avatar color changes based on what Attunement they were transformed during its use.
Avatar Form locks you into a unique set of skills from 1-7 skill 6 and 7 being unique to the attunement the Shaman was in when they transformed.

Hammer is a melee/defensive oriented weapon with some ranged options depending on the Attunement you use.

Golems require Golem Energy to be made.

Golem skills come in multiple types. Some Golem skills spawn Golem companions that do different roles. Some Golems are mobile suits that allies can jump into. Some Golem skills create multiple golem bots at once.

Codas are ranged channel skills that deal damage from afar to enemies. Codas apply Boons to allies within the Coda’s sound wave, and heals allies near the target’s location, making for great sustain healing verse the burst healing of a Druid.

The wise knowledgeable Runepriest using their bow and tomes, brands enemies and allies alike with runes of great power, to damage enemies and heal allies.

Tomes require Wisdom, which is generated from heals and boon application.

Tomes replace the virtues, but each virtue still grants a passive effect similar to how virtues work.
Tome of Wrath replaces Virtue of Justice, and focus on ranged damage.
Tome of Light replaces Virtue of Resolves, and focus on healing output.
Tome of Honor replaces Virtue of Courage, and focus on a hybrid of defense and CC.

Rune skills have a two part activation chain. First activation place runes on target for an passive effect, and second activation triggers the Runes for powerful effects.

New Skill Type: Blood Ritual
Mechanics: F1- Metamorphosis change into a Vampire Form. F2 – Spawn Coffin. Lifeblood replaces Lifeforce.
Necromancer Elite Spec becomes Vampire Hunters.

With the invasion of the demons and their Vampire lords into the lands, the Necromancer cults took the sacrifice of drinking from the Blood Ritual, to gain the strength of the Vampire themselves, to hunt down the Vampire Demons Lords that march forward on their path of destruction.

Lifeblood replaces Lifeforce. Instead of the Health Pool getting replaced, Lifeblood is consumed for Metamorphosis skills. Coffin on the other hand replaces health pool similar to traditional Shroud mechanic.

Vampire Hunters can transform into a mobile melee focused form with F1. The Vampire Hunter sleeps into a hibernation in their floating coffin for self defense and AoE group support but has slower movement speed.

Vampire Hunter takes 75% less damage while in Coffin, and move 20% slower. Coffin heals nearby allies, and damage nearby enemies every 2 seconds passively. Coffin has PBAoE Support and Damage skills as well as ground target rituals that can be used. Generates Large amount of Lifeblood while in Coffin passively and from Coffin skills.

Allies can also channel their own health back, by using their interaction command when near the coffin.

Blood Rituals skills can be used while in Metamorphosis form but not while in Coffin.

Tequatl Defense Groups

This is a NA thing, and i always thought the whole setup in NA is weird. They have two defense groups on each side, instead of one on east and west like in EU. Consider spawn times of mobs never interfere with spawn time of the fingers thingys you can easy move and kill off all of it and even help the ranged party with mob until next spawn cycle starts. We also don’t call them hills and boat. Just east and west

GS has so many great looking skins in the game. it has the best artist IMO.

But GreatAxe was something I been looking forward to since pre-release concept art showed it off. The artist may be able to pull off some awesome Greataxe skins on GS level. but its a wait and see I guess :/

Wow! The daggers’ skills seems a bit to necromantic and death magic/soul reaping focused for a chanelling guy like a revenant! Classe who have basically his weapon’s skills signatured with one legend or with phase transition between Tyria and mists.

but the whole idea behind the Revenant is legends of the past. many of which spirits of the mist. so there is bound to be magic like this that a revenant can tap into. so makes sense from a storeline standpoint.
Also Ritualist also dealt with undead in its own way. Necros in GW2 lore wise dont.
also Daggers skills fit multiple legend roles.
Has ranged damage and skills.
Has control skills.
has defensive skills and goes well with either shield, sword or off hand dagger alone can be great for defensive builds.
Has great ranged support to go great with Tablet for ranged support out of the way of harm since tablet lacks in self healing.

fits great design for the Revenant’s roles and can fit them all. With some unique traits in the trait specializations can enhance it more for personal taste.

Would like a GS/Hammer backpiece for gems

I would like a gem store back piece that looks like a sheathed cool looking Greatsword and another that looks like a cool looking sheathed Hammer.

Also a Duel Sword back piece would be nice

if CoR get nerf shouldnt hammer get buff?

I wont cover every problem, but just some things I noticed.
Some things that need change:

*Legendary Centaur Stance:
A) Project Tranquility should be automatic, and respawn once destroyed, or if out of range.
B) Ventari Will should have its cooldown removed or reduced or heals increased.
C) all Legendary Centaur Stance skills should have an offensive aspect to them, if the energy cost remain this high.
D) Energy cost need to be reduced on all skills, to have any synergy with weapons.
E) Natural Harmony need to have its heal greatly improved if the delay design is going to stay.
F) Protective Solace should be made into Water Field.
G) Energy Expulsion should have a large heal on it along side current effects.

Salvation:
A) Nourishing Root should be baseline.
B) Tranquil Balance should offer some kind of passive heal regen along side current effects.
C) Serene Rejuvenation, along side current effect, should heal nearby allies a percentage of the damage you deal.
D) Tranquil Benediction should be baseline.
E) Hardened Foundation and Eluding Nullification should be merged into a minor.
F) Invoking Harmony should be changed from having an invoking requirement.
G) Momentary Pacification should be changed into a different effect on the elite, or to have an additional effect on elites.

Staff:
A) Staff AA Damage need to be increased, and provide better damage reduction effects such as protection.
B) Punishing Sweep need to be reworked to not be built around enemy using skills. Perhaps swap the chain, and daze on first chain, and if interrupt a target hit them again for another daze heavy hit.
C)Renewing Wave should be changed into a ground target leap similar to Dragon Hunter’s F2, that deals damage where it lands and knocks down enemies, while healing nearby allies at the start and landing area, especially with this high energy cost.
D) Surge of the mist, should have a directional ground target function similar to Druid Staff 4 Vine Surge
