The suggestion of raids is a very uncreative solution to the lack of epic PvE content. Just as criticizing the lack of the trinity in the game. The trinity is a crutch in MMO’s that has been used to death and desperately needs to be retired. This genre in general was growing very stale about 5 years ago.

I like alot of Arenanets idea’s they use in GW2 but simular to GW1 alot of idea’s just are not implemented will.

Just a suggestion off the top of my head. Five man dungeons that involve one epic boss fight with a boss the size of the current dragons or bigger and included checkpoints that save your progress from one phase to another. Remember Chronos in God of War 3. Something like that. Notice the lack of tanks and healers. Shadow of the Colossus is another game thats good to emulate for epic boss fights.

The fight could run for 40 mins with 10 phases that include the boss fight, add fights and just plain navagation around the area but is all focased on this one guy your fighting.

My point of this is an MMORPG should provide the most EPIC PvE content in video games and what get is extremely mundane. The boss fights in GW2 don’t even stack up against WoW and its fights from 5 years ago.

Though I do like Fractals alot and it is a more of what my expectations where when I bought GW2 . The MMO genre however is radically going to have to change its format if its going to survive in the future and raids and the holy trinity is not the answer. Just go check out SWTOR.

I disagree. the whole concept of MMO is large scale gameplay. 5 man dungeons dont offer that.
20 players would be.
And currently no matter what can be done, the Dynamic Events will never replace Raids, since they have to be designed for all players and any number of random population. look at the current Dynamic Events. The fights are designed so everybody can join. Party Dungeons are not designed like this, since its in a instance. But it isnt large scale PvE. Raid Dungeons are. Which has the benefits of both.

I want addon for switching my weapon layout with a click of a button rather than dragging each one out of hero tab. its annoying when I simply want to play and have fun.
Same with skill layouts.

also want addon to manage event popups.
addon in WvW to manage looting when it pops up.

They need more people than a dungeon does. Having in mind how many split paths there is in every single dungeon and how hard it is to get a group sometimes, it would be even harder for a raid (LF12M raid dungeon X path Y).
Dungeons in the game right now are mostly about skill. Increase the number of players entering at the same time and the how much skill does every single individual has to have?

Same amount of skill needed in party dungeons. Just more people and they need to have mechanics with that in mind. aka more environmental attacks and more dual tasking mechanics to the fight. Also lots of powerful AoE that need to be avoided or boss gets stronger and healed a bit. stuff like that makes the large scale fights harder than dynamic event boss fight, while still maintaining the large group focus of it.

Dynamic Events simply cant do this because its made for random number of players and skill levels, unlike instanced dungeons. Dynamic Event boss fights, for this reason, are not as fun for PvE as instanced raids would be.

This a serious discussion, and not hostile tone.

But whats wrong with having raid dungeons in the game. It already has party dungeons with explorer mode.

Well whats hard about adding larger group raid dungeons with story and explorer mode versions as well to the game?

I dont see a problem. Raid Instances give PvE guilds another form of gameplay to play in PvE for large group, that is still in a control setting like all other instanced gameplay is.

the only argument I ever heard against it is the argument of item treadmill. But how is that different from the current dungeons?

its same thing, but with different fixed group sizes and different fights. Not sure how can one be a item treadmill and the other not.

Raid dungeons is the one thing about PvE I miss the most. Zone Event fights just havnt been well done, which I blame on the concept of them being open to all to fight, rather than designed on fixed group number rules like dungeons are. takes lot of fun out the large scale PvE gameplay we have.

Expansion idea, Naval Battles

I keep requesting naval gameplay. But I rather have it for PvE as well as PvP rather than one or the other.

I want open world gameplay for them. a few giant linked ocean zones with mobs underwater and on surface to fight. and pirates.

also treasure hunting like Legend of Zelda Wind Waker.
Also want to be able to allow other players to ride my ship and mount the cannons and jump on pirate ships to fight, and stuff like that.

would like air ships as well if possible to do the same thing.

Here are some suggestions-

for the first skill on banners, which is a strike, how about changing this so that all banner
all have some kind of effect that happens on each strike.

example:
*Banner of Defense – Stab a foe with your banner. Apply Weakness to enemy and protection to allys
*Banner of Discipline – Stab a foe with your banner. Apply Fury to nearby allies.
*Banner of Strength – Stab a foe with your banner. Apply Might to nearby allies.
*Banner of Tactics – Stab a foe with your banner. heals nearby allies.
*Battle Standard – Stab a foe with your banner. Heals nearby ally and apply protection and regeneration.


for the number 2 ability, how about adding some field effects to this.
Also make them some of them into Charge abilities that work like siege weapons firing mechanics, in which you hold them down for more powerful effects and larger area of effect. And give each of them both positive effects on allies and negative effects on nearby enemies.

the 3rd ability should have a unikittenfect based on the banner being used, along with the swiftness.

example:
*Banner of Defense – Inspire nearby allies, granting swiftness. And creates a wall of spikes at the location that damage enemies that walk into it, and prevents passage.
*Banner of Discipline – Inspire nearby allies, granting swiftness. And knockdown 3 nearby enemies
*Banner of Strength – Inspire nearby allies, granting swiftness. And removing conditions from nearby allies.
*Banner of Tactics – Inspire nearby allies, granting swiftness. and apply Aegis to 3 nearby allies.
*Battle Standard – Inspire nearby allies, granting swiftness. And creates a healing aura around you which heals allies near you every second.


Change Sprint ability to also add unikittenfects to them so that allies and enemies that cross your sprint path gain a boon or condition of sorts.

I would like more skills. Especially on the Warrior class. they have the least interesting skill options out of any class in the game. Would like new skills added that can potentially be cool to use.

Same for other classes as well.

Please consider revamping the Warrior class skill list.
Not talking about the weapon skills here, since they have some of the more interesting weapon skills.

but I am talking about the skills that players can choose from.

I am a fan of heavy armored melee classes in RPGs. There are only 2 Soldier classes in the game. And 1 of them I already have at 80. But the Warrior I am having a hard time being motivated to play and grind to max level,
because the previous leveling experience reward on my Guardian, came from unlocking new cool skills to use. That was a big motivation. But when playing the Warrior, they have no interesting skills to use. Most of the better skills are Passive Signets with dull active effects. Warriors have very little interesting skills compared to the other classes in the game.

and honestly it isnt fair. There is little motivation to gain skills when they arent interesting in begin with.

I hope Anet can put aside any disagreement and revamp this class’ skill list, to be more interesting. I played many MMO with Warrior classes, and even original GW1 Warrior had cooler skills. Please replace these skills with some ideas from other MMO Warriors or even GW1 Warrior.

I would like a tool for making dungeons, added to the game. this way players dont have to get bent out of shape when they finish all developer made dungeons, and can keep themselves entertained with a list of player made dungeons to complete till the developers update more dungeons.

Dungeon maker should have a map design, so you can layout dungeon designs and rooms like a player housing tool, but for the dungeon map design.

Also Monster boss fights designs.

Spirit Bond: Heal your Angel for (X) over 15 seconds.

Guardian: Places Target in a Holy Prism, absorbing (X) Damage. Last (Y) seconds [20seconds max] or until the total amount of Damage is absorbed.

Divine Strike: Strike the enemy for +(X) Holy Damage, and heals nearby ally equal to (Y)%[150 max] of the damage done.

Armor of Faith: Increase Armor by (X) and Caster Stat by (Y). Casting spells become (Z)% faster. Last 30seconds or (G) charges

Holy Weapon: 2min cooldown Charge your weapon with Holy Light, dealing (X) additional damage to undead and demons, and healing self for half the additional damage done by your Holy Weapon. Last 30 seconds.

Fist of Heaven: Strike target with your main hand weapon. as you make contact, a Holy Bolt of fire fury hurls down, stunning the target, and deals (X) Holy Fire damage to all nearby enemies, and healing all nearby ally for (Y) within 10 yards.

Rite of Valor: Increase all damage done with 2-hander weapons of the target by 1% for 15 seconds for each time the Monk scores a Critical hit. Stacks 5 times. Players may only have one Rite on them per Monk at any one time.

Vanguard: Monk reaches into the Divine, to summon forth a Shield of Light at the targeted location. This Holy Shield has (X) health, and absorbs damage taken by all party members near the Vanguard. Vanguard reduces damage it takes by 40%.

Divine Hands: Cleanse 1 magic and 1 disease from the target ally. Target is healed for (X) over 10 seconds for each remaining magic,disease, hex effect on the target up to a maximum of 5.

Mark of Repentance: Enemy target is marked by the divine. Each time target attacks a party member, their Resistance, Intellect, Spirit (Caster stat names go here) is reduced by (X) up to a maximum of (Y). Cannot exceed (Z)% of targets’ stats. Enemy can only be effected by a single Mark at any given moment.

Mark of Vengeance: Enemy Target is marked by the Divine. Each time target attacks a party member their Strength, Agility, Stamina (melee stats names go here) is reduced by (X) up to a maximum of (Y). Cannot exceed (Z)% of Targets stats. Enemy can only be effected by a single Mark at any given moment.

Mark of Retribution: Enemy is marked by the Divine. Each time target attacks a party member, the enemy is damaged for (X) Holy Fire Damage, and Ally hit from the enemy is healed for (X). 3 Charges.

Divine Onslaught: Requires 2hander Melee weapon. Strikes all Enemies within the cone in front of you, up to 10 yards range. Enemies hit by Divine Onslaught are dealt Holy Fire damage equal to 50% of your weapon damage for each jin you have. Enemy begin to burn for 10% of the damage done as fire damage over 10 seconds.

Meditation: Channel spell: Restore (X) health and (Y) energy over 8 seconds. (Caster stat) is increased by (Z) for each second channeled. Last 30 seconds.

Impenetrable Discipline: Increase chance to dodge attacks by (X) for (Y) seconds. Each time the monk dodge an attack in such a way, the dodge chance of Impenetrable Discipline is reduced by (Z)%. Each time you dodge a attack, you have a 50% chance to gain a Jin or Burden Serge.

Drunken Monkey: Strike the target with both hands, and removes any snare effects on self, and makes you immune to movement impairing effects for 3 seconds.

Heaven’s Delight: "Instant cast AoE heal. High Energy cost.

Healing Fist: Channel spell. Strike the target for Holy Damage equal to (X) % weapon Damage each seconds for 7 seconds. Nearby Ally are healed for (Y)% of the damage done from Healing Fist.Can be used while moving. 1 min cooldown.

Revenge of The Fallen: 6 second cast time. 10 min cooldown. Resurrect all nearby Party members to fight for 20 seconds. Party Members resurrected by Revenge of The Fallen take damage equal to (X)[50mini-5max]% of their Max health points every second and are not affected by healing effects. Ally resurrected in such a way deal (Y)%[10-50max]of their original damage.

Aura of the Righteous Weapon : 30 second cooldown Blesses the weapons of the monk’s group, granting them a (X)% chance to deal divine damage with each hit. Undead and Demons targets take twice as much damage. Last 15 seconds.

Cartwheel Dash: Instant. Dash to target enemy with a cycle of Cartwheel kicks. Deal X% weapon damage to target, and anybody hit in between and binds them to the ground with holy chains for 3 seconds.. 30 yard range.

Holy Contravention Strike: 10 second Cool down- Strike the target, increasing the haste and effect of your next Heal Spell.

Vow of Valor: Increase target’s Melee stat by (X) for 3 min.

Atone: Increase target’s Max HP for for (X) and increase damage absorbed by Shield by (Y) last 5 mins.

Invisibility Purge: Dispel Stealth and Invisibility of nearby enemy.

*JIN BURDEN SERGE System
Monks have 5 Jin charges and 10 Burden charges that can be gained. Heals consume different number of Jin/Burden Serge. Certain Attacks and Abilities gain Jin/Serge charges. In combat players start with 10 burden charges and 1 Jin charge. Burden Charges are consumed once Jin charges are used up. While in Burden mode, a Monks heals are reduced by 75%, but Melee Damage is increased by 25%. While in Jin mode, all attacks also heal the target effected by your mark, and your Melee Attack speed is increased based on the number of jin charges you have.

Angel form with Shield and weapon, for up close Off TankingCC combat and group defense buffs.

The WiiU with its new launch hype on the way seem like the perfect fit.

Also the Touch Screen would add well to the MMO gameplay.

Chatting would be easier, and also action mapping would be easier.

warriors may be all about weapons, but at the end of the day they still can only use 2 weapons at a time in combat like every other class. so that argument gets null.

but new classes mean new mechanics for the class. Not something bound by old class mechanics. new weapon wont change that.

Warrior with 2hander axe is still a Warrior, not a Guardian, not Mesmer, not whatever. Only the first 5 skills change.

new class has a brand new feel and new mechanics that are different ans well FRESH.

My main is a Guardian,

so now I started leveling alts, and I always been mostly a fan of heavy armored melee classes.
So Warrior would make perfect sense here as the perfect alt for me right?
WELL WRONG.

The warrior is just such a class that simply isnt that exciting beyond learning weapon skills.
Once you unlock all your weapon skills, you basically just unlocked the equivalent of your elites/ 6 point skills on any other class.

the Utilities and elites just arent that fascinating to grind levels and skill points challenges out to unlock them. no motivation, since the weapon skills alone are more interesting.

most endgame warriors run Signet builds for this reason alone. Those slots are more useful as passives, than they are as actives. that just seem like a poor class design, and this deep into the release and post beta of GW2, I doubt that will ever change until an expansion which may add new skills to pick.

but until than, the Warrior simply has the most dull selection of utility/elite skills of any class in the game. Which they only can make up for with their weapon skills. smh.

sometimes I rather play a Mesmer or Necromancer or any other kitten class over Warrior, because its just no motivation in progressing beyond weapon skills.

I am officially done with GW2 until the patch of 9-18-2012 gets reverted.

You have shafted both your core audiences the hardcore and the casual player with this patch. In response all we’ve gotten all day from over 100,000 views and over a thousand posts is two smug comments from Jon Peters and Robert Hrouda in the dungeon forums basically telling the player base “You will do what we want you to do and you’ll deal with it.”

Well I am here to tell you no, no I won’t just do what you want me to do. I’m sorry I am not tied into a subscription model in this game. If you want to try to tell me how to play my own toon the way you want me to play my toon for a game that I am not locked into you can watch me as well as I am sure many others just uninstall the game.

Your largest competitor launches its new title in 7 days and you all are clearly showing you have no care or concern for your existing player base. This is really unacceptable behavior from a consumer point of view and just shows a real lack of passion or care for the people playing your game.

You can leave because this is B2P so they already have your money. your voice means nothing. just saying..

Since the world is getting invaded in WvW, and the evil factions exist on our worlds, why shouldnt they fight for their world as well?

They are already giving xp and karma in WvW. So why not let the weapon skills unlock? I see no problem there. Only that more new players that just started to play a class go into WvW without even having unlocked skill slots and other stuff. But that problem we already have – they have designed it to be played at level 1 by scaling everyone up to 80.

because you are in PvP where you are playing against PLAYERs not stupid AI.

Auto attacking with 1 wont cut it.
and in most cases you wont get credit for kills since you cant deal enough damage fast enough using a single auto attack on a weapon.

which means, you may have damaged the player or npcs in the keeps but wont get any progression in leveling up the weapon.

Warrior has very cool weapon skills, but the skills that we get the option of choosing, aka the Utility/elite/heals just all seem lame compared to what other classes get.

I hope Anet takes a page from WoW’s Warrior here, and Rift’s Warrior here in terms of interesting skill design for unique ideas.

turning Circle of Warding into a Symbol wont change anything. looks at GS’s symbol for example here.

also it would be effected by traits.

the best thing to do is make it ground target like they did Staff’s ward.

we have two ward spells. originally nether of them were ground target skills. that was changed because it didnt work well. CoW need to also change for the same reason.

please, give guardian higher stats

People automatically go to the server that is winning because most of the people like to easily win instead of having fun(they think it is fun to go there and watch how others already captured everything and then doing the jumping puzzles maybe lol).

No recruting needed.

Maybe if Anet made it more rewarding to simply have fun in WvW rather only rewarding exp to the winning side, than more would play on the losing team for a better chance to rally them to victory.

As is, there is no motivation to play a losing side, since you spend lots of wasted time getting little to nothing, compared to what could have been got from PvE.

The passive boost for unused signets shows this class was poorly designed from the start. With only 10 abilities at a time, and most of them more useful unused, you have a problem in gameplay design. Sorry Anet, but this class just is lame. I play it because I enjoy the look of the class (heavy armor and two hander Melee weapons)

Can you remove the damage attacks on banners and add support skills to replace them please?

I enjoy playing support in WvW as a banner whielding buffer, but I just don’t see the point of the damage abilities on it. They a waste of slots that could have been more cool support effects.
I rather attack with my normal weapons over using banner to attack.
