As i wrote it down during BWE1, no matter what you do, how you buff them etc., Turrets will always suck. Dont get people that “like the playstyle” of turrets lol, its even more boring than elixirs.
Played 100nades right after release until the first grenade nerf, its a nice combo but weak for solo roaming compared to condition specs. Im more worried about super elixir, this will be the nail in the coffin as its the only thing to handle conditions beside the horrible elixirs.
Funny how fast the devs reacted to some random kid whining about engis.
If they wouldnt penetrate engineers with the nerfbat in every * single patch it wouldnt be that unpopular perhaps?

KR is the only thing that makes this class fun and competive. If they remove the super elixir i will join the rest of my guild/friendlist, screw that horrible broken piece of fail they dare to call a game.
Every fking patch i have to change my build to compensate some deathnerfs.
Last patch klilled my EG/FT build, the patch before killed my nadebuild, now i play EG/toolkit and they are going to kill it again. Its ridicoulus, they remove the only way to handle conditions beside that stupid elixirs.

Hard to describe but i try.
2x uninterruptable conditionremovement was worth so much coupled with the blind from FT. Partysupport is so awesome with 3x aoe condition removes and fumigate.
Tons of cc perma poision/burning. Perma speed, vigor, fury and 6-9 stacks might. Strong selfheals and kiteskills with E-Gun. During fights the mightstacks reach up to 21 with sigil of battle and the napalm combos.
Elixirs and grenades together are annoying as hell to use and the casttimes are just to high to remove immobalize effectiv which is important if you are outnumbered what i usually am.
Elixir gun is such an important tool in wvw andl, every build without it will fail but E-gun alone isnt enough. You really need a second kit to do damage. I tried alot builds but this one was the best solo spec i figured out until now. I use sigil of blood on every charachter and lifesteal food which was and still is really nice with flamethrower.

This build isnt as good at all. Its boring and weak compared to my old kit-heavy builds.
I play solo most of the time and since patch i have a very hard time. I tried this build now and have to say its just not competetiv.
I also tried the HGH Grenadier and its horrible compared to my old kit-heavy builds.
Last build i played was p/s, medkit, E-Gun, FT and Elixir S in complete rabid. It was awesome.
Maybe i will figure out a new way to roam in WvW but everything i tried so far was horrible and a complete fail. Some might argue that they still have success as engineer but i highly doubt that, i also have a mesmer and Ele and know what they are capable off.
Cant login for more then a hour per day because everytime i see my engi i get angry and ragequit. While my d/d ele is still ridicoulus oped my engi lost his only viable builds …. again. Screw this game srsly.

played such builds since beta mostly in WvW.
Every single build i liked used Kit-Refinement and E-Gun.
Now i barely play at all because of the last changes, tried different builds and all are complete horrible. The best build for solo roaming was with e-gun and flametrhower condition spec. Elixir S is a must for stomping/rezzing and the key to win if youre outnumbered.
I could face everything and it was awesome and unique compared to the 90% lamebad ele/thief/mesmers. This class and so the whole game died for me in the last patch. I try every day to login but after a couple of minutes i just get angry and ragequit.

Almost 10 People i know stopped playing because permastealth and culling. No fun at all. Worst balance for a PvP game ive ever encountered.
I still play engineer from time to time but im very happy that i started a mesmer as soon as possible. It makes me sad how easy it is to play a mesmer compared to engineer for success.
I created threads on the gw2guru/official forum about the problems with kits after BWE1 and i said that if this horrible design goes live we will have to wait a long long time until we get a fixed profession. Of course i got flamed by fanboys for that because anet knows how to blanance things out better than i do, im still laughing.
Seriously do us all a favor and stop talking about “kit refinement”

Alot big guilds fled from MS because people there didnt like the practice of Tower swapping with enemys and memser portals. This Event poisoned the whole community of MS because most of us dont support or like exploiting like that.
Sadly for you those guilds, that support easy karmatraining via exploits are now your enemys. They are also famous for thier bad behavior and non existing social skills.

Your build is interesting, so I’d like to see it in action.
For some reason I wouldn’t trust chaos armor that much, but maybe I’m wrong.
I mean, some situations require to give all allies aegis on call, without rellying on luck.Also, protection is only a damage reduction. Guardians can keep up a lot of protection AND regen at same time, which is much more effective, in my humble opinion.
Guardians can reflect and absorb projectiles with many skills as well.
Guardians have some aoe blind options as well, not so much, but fair enough.
Guardians can provide 3 aegises on demand for all party members within range.Additionaly, if we are traited and equipped, we can heal all our allies all the time with many our skills. And this healing ability, for me, is one of the most important aspect of being guardian. Sacrificing my own damage, I’m usually able to keep alive 3 berserker warriors with my outgoing healing options, so they don’t use their own heal skills at all. Maintaining protection, regen and blind at right moments, healing and empowering them – it usually outweights any other kind of support. Not to mention our conditions removing options, with shouts and light fields.
Still, I really want to see your mesmer in action
Chaos Storm provides aegis every second, in addition it dazes enemys quite often.
Its way more reliable then aegis from guardians and doesnt rely on luck at all. you buff a good amount of regeneration and protection through chaos armor, if your party utalize your fields well. Your phantasms buff regen too.
You may adjust this build for heals on shatter for example, which would give you a good amount of heal too but the groups in which i play don relay on heals at all and we usally dont group beserk warriors because most of them are just terribad and a wasted slot.
If we need heals at all what we barely do we have a ranger with waterfield and people use thier finishers in that. Im not that mus of a pve expert but this build walks through fractals carrying a full team with ease.
Anyway a team with such a mesmer + a decent guardian is of course even better then just one of them.

now here is the key, why its alot better then any guardian. Two words =
Chaos Armor. You have 100% uptime of chaosarmor, coupled with a alot of toughness.
4 etheric fields which are the strongest fields available. Confusion stacks extrem well with projectile/whirl users Just tell your buddies they have to use thier leaps and blast inside the field for chaos armor madness.
Chaosstorm is way better to provide aegis then anything a guardian can offer.
You can tank extrem well with permaprotection ~10-20 secs in a fight, high toughness
and distortion every 8 seconds. You have a ridicoulus amount of projectile reflection which is totally oped in WvW and most PvE situations. You can even reflect a couple of agony attacks.
so in a short list:
strong condition/boon removement – nullfield
Strongest combofields 100% uptime – etheric
extreme amount of reflection – focus/reflection bubble
permanent chaosarmor for blind, confusion, protection.
The best aegis abillity – chaos storm.
highest amount of invul – blurred frenzy / distortion.
Cheesy tactics with portals
10 sec quickness…. extrem nice for turbo rezz dead guys.
The only thing what a guard can do better then everyone else is to provide stabillity.

With everyone and their mother switching to grenadier for obvious damage boosts it was no surprise to me it got hit the with nerf bat. I know Anet doesn’t like it when a certain weapon or kit out preforms most of the class’ other weapon choices.

As much as all this sucks, if someone told you this you should better stop grouping baddies. No one invites anything just for “healing” which is kitten weak in the entire game anyway. Ive never done a fractal with an ele in group btw and if anyone needs a particular class for fractals besides mesmers he is bad anyway.
Engineer
The Engineer is a highly versatile class. While it doesn’t have the long range capabilities of the Ranger, or the melee capabilities of the Warrior or Guardian, they are comfortable at medium ranges in most fights. They have a lot of control, and use their boons to keep themselves (and allies) alive in a fight. They can use different kits based on the situation, but this extreme versatility comes at a cost in damage on their main hand weapons.
Thief
Thieves are the masters of mobility, stealth and high single target damage. They can be very fragile if you counter their stealth with area of effects or large stacks of conditions, but they trade this fragility in order to have some of the highest burst damage in the game. They are able to help allies through traps, venoms and the mobility to flank most encounters.

What really scares me is a well played ranger because most of them are incredibly bad at the game. You walk up to rangers pretty much expecting free kills only to finally find someone who actually knows how to dodge roll and kite. There are plenty of broken things about it, but it amazes me how people fail to see the obviously broken aspects of other classes. Everyone is so tunnel visioned on this one class that they can’t see the overpowered aspects of other professions in the game, especially in COORDINATED group situations. You know, the part of the game that actually matters.

since my mesmer hit 80 im barely play the engi anymore.
Mesmer is just so much superior in PvE, PvP and WvW.
Things that drives me nuts on engi are,
1. We came from perma stability to no stability at all and throw elixir S doesnt count. Random 4 sec stability is a joke.
2. The damage of nades is a joke somehow now even if the changes shouldnt apply to WvW it somehow is lower now. Also they are reflectable which makes engi the only class that can actually kill his mates…
3. The worst stunbreakers in the entire game and i usually like the 4 kit builds, having no stunbreaker in a 4 kit build is kitten
4. No teleport.
5.A total screwed up queing mechanic. I cant count the times i screwed up a situation because of this, Bombs like smokebomb dont drop if i hit the button. You constantly have to watch your qbar to make sure the skill is used when you press it..
6. way to long castimes. supplydropp can even be interrupted when the crate has landed wtf…
The efford you have to put into engi is way to high for the results you get.
Mistakes are deadly in almost every situation, used to wrong bomb order? = dead, accidently pressed the number 4 when youre on the wrong weapon? = dead, (overcharged shot, acidbomb).
I have no problem with the fact that you have to be very carefully but the game is just not designed for that with the ridicoulus high bursts it has.
meanwhile i can play my mesmer with a steering wheel it almost doesnt matter how or in which order i press my buttons i just have to make sure to press them when they are off cooldown.

Lol me and (GoD) were spawn camping about 30-40 miller. We literally hid behind a tree, they ran out to take godslore we kill them, hide behind tree again and repeat.
You should stop counting pets, ive never seen 40 millers on one spot ever.
[IRON] players are pretty weak at 1v2 sadly most of the time they are ~20-30 hard to tell with the culling issues. This is nothing but a zergfest so me and friends decided to take a WvW breake.
Deso is strong no question about that. But with your numbers idk why you couldnt stay at t2, come on Baruch Bay couldnt compete with us at primetime you can, whats wrong?
you have alot large zergguilds this is not the WvW i like.
Most people on MS and Kodash play for fun and challenge, not to win at all costs.

What engineers are not very good at right now is damage (what type? all types. Mediocre single, burst, aoe, and conditions) and solo roaming. So for now it’s a very group oriented class.
I disagree with this. Engineer is my class of choice for solo wvw roaming. It’s fast, it can disengage from nearly any fight and just escape, it can apply a large number of boons on self, permanent might, fury and retaliation on demand etc. I can kill anything 1v1 with it, in fact, I don’t think I’ve lost more than a dozen 1v1s in wvw and I’m at 14k kills, most of them achieved as a roamer.
No one ever knows what to expect from an engineer in wvw, that’s also a great advantage.
Youre right but there are classes you cant beat as engineer like well played mesmers.
I have also 14k kills 13K of them with the engineer and i run solo or with a group of max 5 most of the time. I won almost all 1v1 i had except against well played mesmers.
You also have a mesmer you should know what i mean, its ridicoulus. I couldnt beat my mesmer with my engi and i have just yellow accessiores on the mesmer and play engi since bwe1.

It hasnt been nerfed enough. This class singlehandly ruined the fun of so many people i know. Every second enemy is a thief, for a reason.
Really wish people stop complaining about thieves. It literally takes me 5-10 seconds to kill a thief in a 1v1 unless they don’t shadow refuge and run like noobs. I’m a guardian btw. And yes thieves use stealth and dagger storm what’s the problem? Dagger storm is like the only good aoe they have and stealth only prevents them from getting owned. I’d your getting killed by thieves stop running glass cannon builds in wvw get some toughness or learn to play your class.
Try to play an engi against that, i switched to mesmer because all this oped “projectile reflection” It has to be nerfed or just make grenades not reflectable. Engineer is the only class atm that can be dangerous to his own mates. We talk again if you get killed by an engineer from your own server.
As an Engineer i hate Daggerstorm. Most of my attacks and all of my CCs are rendered completely useless. Even my Elite is countered by Daggerstorm as it kills the Turrets, ignores the stun and keeps me away from the bandages.
All i can do is run away, because i cannot seriously damage you or CC you. But nope, cripple.
Its essentially free damage with a period of near god-mode against most Engineers.

The oped roflstorm singlehandly makes engineers almost unplayable.
Not that much in a 1v1 but in every group fight the sheer numbers of thieves (every 2nd enemy is one) is annoying to hell.
But to answer the question from op jes there are thieses not using DS every bad one.
Dont know but here in T3 every single encounter has “wall of reflection”, “feedback” and “roflstorm” so be carefull with your grenades before you blow up your own mates.
They arnt that vailable as before. The problem are the HUGE amount of mesmers, thieves and guardians. All this “reflect” abbillities are killing the class, if you blow up your mates because some button2 spammers accidently found his oped roflstorm while your grenade barrage is on the way, you will know what i mean.
As a matter of fact, engi is the only class that can become dangerous to his own allies with grenades. For example, even if i manage to stun the mesmer to use grenade barrage, he can instantly use “feedback” because it has no casttime. This ruins the engineer for me. In higher brackets there are almost 80% Thieves/Mesmers and every decent one hast projectile reflection. Im very experienced with engi and had alot of success but atm it becomes unplayable for me, you just have no answers against oped reflection. I created a mesmer which abuses the hell out of it, i just laugh at rangers/engis they cant even touch me.
