Gaile, another clear example of non-transparency. Again, the policy is making the gaming experience more toxic than ever because you’re (Anet) not allowed to discuss stuff in progress. We are force-fed this, …

It’s A-grade damage control, and it doesn’t have to be that way.

Completely agree. I tried to write to her with no reply at all (many others tried as well) :-/

P.S. I get this feeling this thread is being down-moved onto page 3 where I found it, despite recent posting… I hope my reply wont be deleted because I wrote this…

Give us an “I am Evon Gnashblade” option that lets us buy smaller increments.

Maybe “I am not confused

No no no – just add a button titled “I am not a stupid player” which brings the old GUI.

Problem solved.

The quality of the event has nothing to do with not having an exclusive for it?

I partly lost you on the double negative, but rewards are apart of the quality of an event. Specifically Halloween 2013 was terrible on both parts, and now 2014 appears to be a rehashed remake.

I heard someone made over 100,000g because he was in Halloween 2012, bought a bunch of shields and resold them at 2,000 gold each because of this company’s decision not to ever bring them back (instead we’ve gotten common-ragg-looking gloves for example).

He basically won GW2 because of this exploit.
Now comes Halloween 2014 and still these items are gone.

Amazing ArenaNet reward strategy right there…..

no exclusive item from Halloween 2013

Halloween 2013 was horrible!! So you’re complaining nothing exclusive from a horrible event stayed??

… at least if you said 2012, but from in-game evidence Halloween events are tumbling downhill into a boring abyss at this rate (e.g. 2015)

The old system was to confusing? If that’s the best excuse for the new system i don’t even know what to say anymore….

Anet. This is dissapointing on a whole new level.

Hi Gaile,

All of this could have been avoided if you would only have communicated your plans for the game, remember? This is a result of thinking what’s good for the community without caring —-- about what we may truly want.

You came back to this thread, asking if people can bring their ideas to correct this, someone said make it in 100’s not 400’s – and you gladly concluded “THERE!

Wow, just wow. Your dev lead could not have thought of that himself before ruining the code? was that complex? could you not have asked us before you ruined the code? and if you couldn’t (and didn’t), why taunt you are “communicating” with us? or is the communication only to damage-control? will you erase my post because its unfavorable?

I hope my point is made to you, but I cannot tell, sadly.

Just so you know, I have finished hardly any of the impermanent content that has been put out for the game. I was working 45+ hour/week. I was not upset about this fact. I knew it was going to happen. I have taken a few weeks off here and there and understood I would miss things. Would I have enjoyed the content? Certainly. Do I enjoy the freedom to play the content in my own time now? Yes. However, I am disappointed that the game continues to change from what it was supposed to be to what ‘everyone wants’. It is not ’everyone’s opinions’ that continue to drive changes. It is the loudest voices that do. Obviously, my voice (and others like mine) aren’t loud enough.

Neither is anyone’s apparently. As someone said on Reddit, its like there’s a will to flush out the fun. Content is rehashed, detracted, and made temporary. Fun aspects such as SAB have left us and now dangled infront of those asking to “return one day”. I just don’t get this company sometimes.
… this game was so much fun at 2012 its now a shame.

Ya know, I was thinking about this a bit and keep coming back to the same spot. I (and others) get out the torches and Storm the Castle shouting “They owe us < Insert here > because…” and I kinda get stuck. Then I noticed "What was the Quid Pro Quo? Uh… I give you $60 for a couple of gig of binaries and game server access. “But but I have an emotional investment in this!” Well, that’s on me. Yeah, they could do better than have two random devs kinda smirk and say SAB is on the shelf via some weird web interview. As an aside, that was a really really bad way to let that news out and I don’t even like SAB. But, life is hard, wear a helmet.

The truth is Anet filled the agreement. I got my $60 bucks worth.

I am kinda surprised that Anet has let this thread discuss areas clearly outside their comfort zone without repercussion. I’m pretty sure no one has be banned or even had posts taken down. In a way that’s a significant step towards a more honest even visceral form of communication.

This is an argument worth a thought.

Yes we received the 60$ worth of content, and be done with it. Goodbye.

But then, the product was marketed as a community of players and world, with evolving dynamics and developments. To sell, the company had spent much resources on hype building, this is how they chose to market it to us.

Lets have us an example: You can see Ree Soesbee here bellow promising you that the village you just rescued will stay rescued and remember you. Now we both know after 2 years that it’s BS. Here the players come back to the company and request a redesign, where the response is "were listening, were debating, were … Soon™ ".
But as we know, Soon™ is lawyer for never.

Lets forget for now the no-grind promise (“I swung a sword, hehe I swung it again”), dynamic events will remember you, horizontal progression (and then ascended gear), your choices and background affect the world (remember noble/commoner/…?), fun is in the center (remember Halloween 2013?), and cherry on top is the overabuse of the word Excited on communications. Are you excited?

Are we the bad people to want the hype and promises? Hmm.

So if its back to the original 60$ + goodbye, then I’ll never return to another ArenaNet product. I hope it isn’t, despite Gaile’s/John’s/Whoever’s fluff postings with no answers.

Bonus:

Although I notice Gaile hasn’t posted in the last few pages I’d guess the thread is getting read at some level.

You know the phrase on assumption?

Besides, I’m sure they will take their own direction regardless of any of your text, then talk about it in some motivating menifesto, and introduce it Soon™ completely different to what you wanted, meanwhile having a CDI show /sorry/ thread on it to keep appearances.

@Gaile what u explained only appears/happens when u continue not satisfying the needs of the overall population of the game

- No expansion
- 1 small (good) map in 2 years (southsun was such a fail and still is, we won’t take it into consideration)
- no races/classes/weapon types (skills u did add a few and they changed the game quite a bit in a good way i give u that)
- no precursor crafting (am not even going to bother detailing this any more…it’s gotten to the point u are literally trolling us)
- hands down the most unrewarding drops in any mmo i’ve played so far with no one able to give me another example, combined with extreme-grind for nothing really.
- EoTM…good map for farmer PvE players..literally NO USE to WvW players. The queue thing is debatable specially when u need ppl in WvW but they instead go in EoTM
- a LOT of bugged events that have been since the start of the game….but u instead fix anything that can be exploited by players in order to get a few more gold
- housing, guild halls, gvg…things that not only were asked even since beta, but they should have been mandatory.

Did you happen to see the Player Based GW2 2nd Year Statistics? It tries to sum the progress in GW2 year 2. It was ignored by Gaile/John.

I have a feeling something in ArenaNet’s development department is fundamentally broken. It’s just a hunch, but I think there is a disconnect between management and the remaining developers (talents who have not left the company already), where management is mistreating them or something, or plain living on another planet.

This product is going nowhere.
Updates, if they come, are superficial and uncaring (not tested or in bad taste). The world is a stone-cold repetitions of recycling events, some on a 3 minute cycle, some on an hour cycle, not changing a single blade of grass anywhere. Armor is released as outfits, items as gem-store only, useless minis, female animations, fractal reset insult, clothing bugs that killed my favorite look (reported time and again yet rest assured no one else had any fix either), story plot still stuck since release (dragons-story where I see dragons like GW2’s logo), loreless legendaries, and many many more aspects I feel like repeating myself in these forums already stuck for 2 years.

On the one hand I really wish I could mentally break into the company and dig in their brains on just what-the-kitten-is in there. Yet on the other hand just be sad about the good intentions on making a good world gone by.

You don’t listen to us. You don’t care. Your manifesto was a joke. I had fun playing the game after release but your company just didn’t give a da— afterwards.

Gaile I don’t expect anything to be changed even if you do forward this inside (you wont, nor will you answer me anything), I just wanted to express my disappointment – now reaffirmed with your “we will tell you nothing haha” post.

Edit; To the guy above me
No one told you when SAB will return. Given the Soon™ mentality and company track-record – SAB is expected to return in Q4 of 2019.

December too.

31st if possible, end of day.

So I wouldn’t be happy about it if I were you.

The reason is bad implementation of colors in rendering engine.

The lighting in the preview panel makes white look white, and color X look like color X.
In-game lighting makes all colors grey bland. I spent hours on hours on all sets with all colors, they all get washed out faded-grey in-game. Only black remains black in-game.

Don’t complain over this – wont be fixed this decade.

Management said Living Story is their decision, so it’ll be that way even if all players quit GW2 and the servers catch fire. They are a tunnel-vision train careless of their community (e.g. SAB will return Q4 2019, new weapons will never be introduced, a new profession will be talked about but never done, new weapon skills ditched, Holidays to worsen grinding, new races to play scratched, depth to lore to remain juvenile, “kill grawl” on one side of the hill quests and “help grawl” on other side of the hill quests, dye issues on same armor type, new dungeons never considered, so many etc………).

Why do you think you are gona be heard? Have you any idea how many good threads on burning issues I’ve seen being “sweet-talked” by reps into uselessness now long forgotten? Can you guess how many times I’ve read “amazing idea! – we’ll pass this on to the team” being written on good subjects 0 was done about?

The game is a static as-is. Like it like its now? good. Want anything other than management’s tunnel-vision direction? forget it.

Please inform Colin that all gem purchases are delayed until Soon™, which will be in “the future” and “we don’t have a timeframe”.
