I would suggest making the orbs entirely black. It will color contrast better against the orange floor. It will also contrast best against the white orbs.
I designs web sites for a living and one of the things I have to do on occasion are websites that work for color blind people. I found that strong contrasting colors work best. When they see the colors, even if they shift into shades of brown there is enough of a contrast to made out the subtle differences.

You can’t reason with people. Every player from every level of skill must be able to complete all content with no fuss and no hassle, otherwise it’s GG Anet.
Oh, how I wish I could afford to buy everyone here a copy of Dark Souls so they could man up.
Or Guild Wars with all the expansions and let them try Gate of Madness, Glint’s Challenge and Shards of Orr solo. Which, by the way, on my scale of difficult Queen’s Gauntlet is much harder than those three.
After 30 tickets I finally found a build that works well for me. This is the success I had with this personal build. You are free to modify the build and guide in any way you wish.

KILL ORDER
1. First Mate – She does lots of Thief styled burst / poison damage
2. Master Gunner – He does lots of annoying AOE damage.
3. Captain – He evades pretty regularly.
4. Stitches – Other than the occasional “evade” ability from Captain she doesn’t do much else. Of the four she is the easiest… if you follow this kill order.
OVERVIEW
This build is based on the concept “fight fire with fire” in that you are dealing with four NPCs so you can somewhat level the field by bringing two “minions” of your own: Hammer and Sword spirit weapons. Hammer is awesome for knocking down and making a target pretty much useless. Sword does a lot of damage. And with the trait build you are giving your spirit weapons longer life, more damage, more conditional damage, faster skill recharge AND you can command them numerous times before they disappear.
OVERVIEW
First Mate.
1. Start with Scepter & Focus.
2. Cast Hammer of Wisdom and Sword of Justice.
3. Cast Ray of Judgement (#4) at First Mate.
4. Make your two spirit weapons attack First Mate.
5. Pop all your buffs and defensive skills and Hammer her. With any luck her health will drop to 5-8%.
6. Signet of Resolve.
7. Switch to Scepter & Focus and finish her off with whatever also continue to make your two spirit weapons attack First Mate.
Master Gunner
1. Cast Ray of Judgement (#4) at Master Gunner.
2. You are likely not going to have your spirit weapons and Signet of Resolve so try and keep yourself alive by avoiding the Captain and Gunner’s AOE fires.
3. Once your CDs are done pop them and wallop on Gunner.
4. If your spirit weapons are off CD pop them and make them attack Master Gunner.
5. Unlike First Mate, Master Gunner’s health drops pretty quick. So just keep bouncing between staying alive, healing, and popping CD to do lots of Scepter & Focus, Hammer and spirit weapon damage
Captain
1. Captain is very similar to Master Gunner the only difference is he has an evade skill that will happen more than average. Basic tank and spank this guy, but also heal when things get hairy.
2. If your spirit weapons are off CD pop them and make them attack Master Gunner.
Stitches
1. Of the four Stitches is the easiest. She does inherit the evade ability from Captain but she uses it maybe 30% of the time.
2. The best thing I found is use the Hammer skill Ring of Warding (#5) and wallop on her inside the “prison” you’ve made. She usually has a harder time evading.
Hope this helps!

RE: How did I attack your guide?
“Just gear up for decent sustain, WW the kitten out of captain and stiches. Piece of cake.”
and…
“I do think you are over- analyzing this particular encounter”
Basically you make it sound like the encounter is LOLeasy and ANYONE with half a brain should be able to do it half asleep (which, by the way, I did. I haven’t gone to bed yet).
Maybe for you it was LOLeasy but for me I can’t handle random, chaotic madness. It is like colour-blinded for my mind. I cannot process so many things happening on the screen at once in a random fashion. It’s one of the reasons why I was never good at side scrolling shooters like R-Type and Zero Wing. :<
No, don’t nerf it. It’s the first achievement that actually feels like an accomplishment! Personally, I want more of those in the game, not only in temporary content.
I want to feel a sense of achievement when getting those difficult ones, not relief it’s over.
97% of the players who somehow manage, if ever, to complete it will not feel joy when it is done. They also represent over 90% of the players who buy gems. Who is Arenanet going to make happy? Those who PAY to keep the game alive… or those who CRY for more uber difficult content that only a small percentage will ever complete?
I agree with Zaeon.3846.

Anet has stated this update will remain for one month.
Everyone replying please go install Guild Wars and run Gates of Madness, Glint’s Challenge and Shards of Orr solo and then come back and tell me it was LOLeasy. I guarantee you will not.
I use these three missions as a gauge to tell me how difficult content is in GW2. Queen’s Gauntlet is at a level of difficulty much higher than those three. I am saying nerf the difficulty to be on par with them. Right now it is just mind-numbing frustration and annoyance. I am saying this after having reached Tier 3, Fight 1.

Who thought a fully-enclosed dome shaped arena was a great idea? It’s hell on the camera especially if you run near the edge! My camera sometimes ping-pongs between close and far at the worse possible time! Oh look… I lost. again. :<
Can you pls lower the difficulty of this achievement? Maybe lower it to 6 orbs or something? It’s near impossible to finish it without a good amount of luck. Thanks.

The pirates weren’t really difficult. First try with Brazil’s DPS build, so I suppose any build that brings a minimum of damage will be sufficient for them.
Instead of stating you used a certain build and it was “LOLeasy” why not post a link to the build? That would make your reply more useful.
Just gear up for decent sustain, WW the kitten out of captain and stiches. Piece of cake.
Also WoR is pretty good to pop once in a while because of that ranged guy who deals qquite a lot of damage.
This is my guide based on my experience after trying several kill orders. For me First Mate > Master Gunner > Captain > Stitches kill order was easiest. This isn’t about who has a better kill order, this is about helping our fellow Guardians with the Gauntlet as much as we can.
Why are you “attacking” my guide? I did not see any guides in this forum for how to deal with this Pirate challenge. I thought I would put one together.
Someone can easily swap out any of the skills for Wall of Reflection but I didn’t include it in the build because I didn’t use it.

A tornado forms, does a crap load of damage and then retires. The elder dragons are like this. They’re forces of nature on Tyria. Except in this case they can be killed with great effort.
According to like 99% of the people replying in this forum Liadri and the rest of Queen’s Gauntlet is absolutely perfect and doesn’t need to be touch. The number of posts like this – including mine – says otherwise….
Sigh.
Queen Jennah has NOTHING to do with Zhaitan or the Elder Dragons. Their awakenings comes in cycles.
The request was directed to Arenanet. You can all stop now. No really. You shouldn’t waste your time any more.
^ Pretty much this
Stop whining
whining:
1. Give or make a long, high-pitched complaining cry or sound.
2. Complain in a weak or irritable way.
I have posted a request and have given my reasons for the request.
I grant other players their timers from 30 down to 1 , then i yell “Splat” or “GG” and i leave them in the dead state simply because they took forever in 1 gauntlet lol. 2 mins is way tooo much time to kill those bosses…seriously
You’re the same jerk who called me a “completely selfish” and yet I have never left someone dead on the platform. I always rez them. I also never say “GG” or “splat” because I know how frustrating the Gauntlet can be.
@RyuDragnier.9476 – OMG This! There’s World Boss scaling so why can’t there be something similar with encounter scaling based on how much or little damage you do only you… not what others are doing?
Many of the Champions in Queen’s Pavilion do way too much burst-spike damage. For example I’ll pop all my CDs at full health, engage the Champion within melee range with a lot of other players and in 1-2 hits my health drops to 2%! WTF is this?! The Champion should not nearly one shot if I’m wearing exotic gear, trinkets, and weapons all equipped with exotic runes, sigils, and jewels.
(edited by Korval.3751)
I want content that’s fun to do, not hard. Hard does not equal fun to me.
There’s nothing wrong with that. My problem is with people that think, “I only want fun content, not hard content, so ALL content should be fun and not hard.” People who think that way want everything to cater to them and don’t care about others.
What exactly is wrong with having content for you and content not for you existing at the same time?
Hate to break it to you but those people are the majority of any game… even EVE. Arenanet is in the business to make money and they ONLY make money from the casual majority. If the casual majority isn’t being services they will leave. It has and is happening in WOW.
TLDR : Nerf thief down ground . They OP too strong for normal classes we need balance.
Lol you whining cause you no longer have perma Sbs , get over it. That nerf was long overdue
So I guess it’s fine when you call for nerfs, but it’s selfish when other people do it? Interesting.
And I’m not even asking for the nerf for myself. I’m asking for it on behalf of those who either don’t want to ask or would like to do the achievement but find it too difficult. Personally for me it’s more difficult than the previous mentioned missions from Guild Wars. I don’t think that’s being selfish. I’m just asking Anet to make this event’s difficulty reasonable.
Witch is still not difficult enough to other kind of players, thats not difficult to understand. Theres games where you fight things that one shot you, and with normal atacks, they atack often, with a lot of different atacks, and atack in packs, and are much more difficult than Liandri.
Its just for a different type of player, if you cant go and do other part of the game, you want the achivment, earn it!.
I would recommend Guild Wars over Guild Wars 2 to any player who wants something more challenging because they are simply not going to find it in GW2. Queen’s Gauntlet is not all of GW2.
Anet should nerf the core difficulty so that the achievement is possible. Ignoring this Anet is going to end up like Blizzard. They catered to a small but vocal minority about adding more progressively difficult content. Their silent majority eventually started to leave.
If the trolls want hard they should play Guild Wars.
And if they want really hard they should play Gate of Madness, Glint’s Challenge and Shards of Orr (solo) in GW.
And if they want extremely hard they should play Dark Souls!!!!
and if they want more than extremely hard… turn off the computer and go play Real Life!
(edited by Korval.3751)
You’re completely selfish if you want this nerfed just because you can’t complete it , how many difficult challenges have us more hardcore players had up until now? not many at all , you guys on the other hand have 98% of pve thats littered with AI that caters to the daft of mind. Think of someone other than yourself for once , the gauntlet is completely fine as is …if you haven’t caught on how to beat certain bosses by now you clearly are repeating the same mistakes.
I suck beyond belief at jumping puzzles , what ever achievement has to do with platforming 9 times out of 10 i’d never get it simply because im horrid at platforming period , you don’t see me running to forums crying nerf. You on the other hand i bet can complete it with flying colors , you cant plow all the content dude even after soo many tries…thats a common misconception. How selfish would i sound if i cried nerf per JP lol? It for sure wouldn’t be a JP left in this game after i get done crying…
As I’ve already stated numerous time in this thread, I am comparing the difficulty of this event to being greater than the difficulty of Gate of Madness, Glint’s Challenge and Shards of Orr… COMBINED. If you have never played these before then please be quiet about my skill. If you’ve done them you WOULD know how difficult they are.
This again is not a skill issue. This is a problem with the mechanic of it. Many of the encounters are very random and there’s virtually no feedback to assist you with what’s going to happen. When you’re being targeted by trebuchets or turrets in the regular game you can see the red circle and get out of the way. In these encounters THERE ARE NO RED CIRCLES. How in the world can anyone do this content with something as simple as missing red circles?
(edited by Korval.3751)
Not everyone can multitask. Not everyone can handle chaotic environments Not everyone can handle both.
Not everyone is entitled to the achievement, just because it exists.
Achievement
1. The act of accomplishing or finishing.
2. Something accomplished successfully, especially by means of exertion, skill, practice, or perseverance
I think it’s disingenuous and dishonest to release content in such a way that many feel is doable but in fact is intended to only be completed by a small 5% of the community.
Anet should add [ELITE] badges on Achievements to show from the beginning the level of difficult. This way players know they will probably not complete it. At least this would acceptable.
P.S. If there were no repair costs, WP costs, etc. associated with the event I would not have a problem, but you have players spending dozens, even hundreds of gold for this one event alone. I don’t think that’s fair.
(edited by Korval.3751)
Some people take 10 tries others take 100. If you want it nerfed it means you haven’t tried enough.
Sigh. Yes I have tried many dozens of times. Actually I lost count the number of times I tried. This is not a skill issue. This is a luck issue and it has to do with the fact that many of the encounters are chaotic, randomized cluster you-know-what. Pretty much the only people who can handle chaotic, randomized cluster-xxx are pro gamers and the top 3% of the player community. This is the same level of player who could only do Naxxramas and Temple of Ahn’Qiraj in vanilla WOW.
The most I did was Molten Core and that was super fun.
You can play the game but isnt mean you will receive the achivments easily. Normally you people try to stay away of WvW or pvp achivment, what will happen if they create one for monthly tournaments winners, you will ask them to quit it or people to play in a less skilled way?.
If you want the achivment earn it. The game has many parts and you can play it, it isnt against the manifesto.
Perhaps you missed the part where I mentioned Gate of Madness, Glint’s Challenge, and Shards of Orr. Those are not cake walks in GW. Gate of Madness for example is “considered one of the hardest in the Nightfall campaign – due to large demon patrols, -15% healing effectiveness, chaos rifts that continually spawn foes, and battles with both the Undead Lich and Shiro Tagachi.”
Needless to say all three require lots of skill. Glint’s Challenge alone took 3 hours of trial and error to find the right build combination for myself and my heroes. I am asking Anet to nerf the content not because the content is difficult but because the content is MORE difficult than Gate of Madness, Glint’s Challenge, and Shards of Orr combined. If you’ve played GW you know how difficult those three are.
Random doesn’t equal skill.
Most of the mobs I’m having difficulty with do chaotic random damage. I have NO idea where the damage in going to land and I cannot anticipate the damage because there is nothing warning me WHERE the damage is going to land. Basically it a game of chance. Even extremely difficult content like Gate of Madness, Glint’s Challenge and Shards of Orr from Guild Wars had defined direct damage. You knew where to go and what to do.
But not here… it’s an absolute cluster you-know-what.
When I watched the livestream for the Queen’s Jubilee, the Gauntlet was made with an increasing difficulty spike in mind. The devs spoke at length about how they want to introduce content that is supposed to represent prestige to the playerbase. They knew not everyone would beat it, and personally, I’m fine with that. Despite it’s “everyone wins” mentality, a sliver of competitiveness is necessary to make an MMO like GW2 successful.
Good lord… This is like encountering a Champion but its profile UI showed a normal mob. Anet needs to introduce Achievement difficulty badges so players know what their getting into otherwise it’s like they’re stealing dozens or hundreds or gold :<
(edited by Korval.3751)
So you miss out on a minipet, it’s no big deal. It’s supposed to be a rare item, not something everyone can obtain after a few goes.
That being said, it sucks if you can’t complete it because of PC performance issues, I feel sorry for people that are struggling to beat her because ArenaNet decided not to make it an instanced fight.
It’s not about the mini pet. It’s about completing the event. This is ignoring all the gauntlets and whatevers. All of us just want to complete the Gauntlet and the basic achievements that go along with it.
I would just like to put the difficulty into perspective.
I thought the Gate of Madness mission in Nightfall was difficult. I thought Glint’s Challenge was difficult. I thought soloing Shards of Orr was difficult. Queen’s Gauntlet is more difficult than all three of these!
I don’t make this statement lightly.
There have been many games I played where the community has collectively asked the developer to nerf the difficulty (e.g. Ulduar [WOW], etc.) and they did. It was amazing how much more fun the content became AFTER the nerf.
Anet you should listen to the community. If most of us are asking you to nerf the difficulty, please listen to us. This is not going to diminish the value of Queen’s Jubilee. If anything it will enhance and make it more fun.
“Not extremely hard for a few and impossible for the rest.”
This pretty sums up my reason for why Queen’s Gauntlet needs to be nerfed.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/jubilee/Please-nerf-Queen-s-Gauntlet/first
I don’t make these kinds of requests likely. I understand a lot of players are going to flame me for even suggesting such a thing. But hear me out.
The point of Living World is to tell the story, but another big part are the achievements. Most players who participate in LW content want to finish their achievements. And they do this because they know the content is going away in less than a month.
Here’s the difficulty. Queen’s Gauntlet is incredibly frustrating and annoying at best and downright impossible at worse. Not everyone can multitask (Tier 2 Fight 3 Pirates). Not everyone can handle chaotic environments (Tier 2 Fight 2 Kieldia). Not everyone can handle both (Tier 3 Liadri).
You made, according to your manifesto, a game for anyone to play. So regardless of skill people understandably want to get their achievements done. They want to at least finish Queen’s Gauntlet the best way they can.
I propose nerfing or improving the base difficulty. You do not need to nerf to gauntlet conditions, but the actual encounters should be nerfed or improved so that it is challenging and fun, but reasonable for anyone to complete.
I support this after having gotten all the way up to Tier 2, Fight 3. I have no problem with a combination of nerfs and improvements on the core encounters. Something really needs to be done because Queen’s Gauntlet is extremely frustrating for many who are trying to complete their achievements.
Here are a few nerf and encounter improvements:
Halmi Hammerfell: add a more prominent visual cue to his wind-up. Something like what Ettins have.
Doobroosh: add a UI next to Doobroosh target profile that shows a counter for how long his buffs wears off.
Windcaller Kieldia: Either 1. lessen the number of tornados or 2. Lessen the amount of damage she does within melee range.
Suriel the Blazing Light: add a more prominent visual cue to show when she is casting her Solar Flare ability.
Tyre Ragemaw: I think this boss is fine the way he is.
Masticus: I think this boss is fine the way he is.
Salazan: There should be red circles on the ground wherever fire projectiles are located.
The crew of the pirate ship Ravenous: Where to begin on this one. Either:
1. lower the amount of damage they do or,
2. Lower their HP or,
3. Remove the mechanic that restores to full health all mobs after each kill or
4. Remove Stitches and give Master Gunner, Captain Barnicus and First Mate Gaets a small passive health regen (similar to Guardian’s Virtue of Resolve)
(edited by Korval.3751)
We needed a UI count down timer for the fireworks show during Dragon Bash. No one knew when the fireworks actually started.
It’s either the reverberation from beams in the Eagle structure overhead or beams from inside the Crown pavilion. If you look you’ll see a lot of large cables and beams inside the pavilion.
How do I complete this achievement if I can no longer bank gold?
Tara Strong was also the voice of Bubbles
Underwater Elder Dragon’s name confirmed
There’s a skill retrainer for every class in the middle of Queen’s Jubilee. This should provide you a clue that respecing is probably something the designers wanted you to do.
It goes alone with what Guild Wars is like. For example the other night in Guild Wars I spent an hour and half alone trying out different builds for Glint’s Challenge, and I still could not beat it. I got up to wave 7 and was wiped by Destroyer of Lives. Nasty beasts! :o
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/8/8d/Destroyer_of_Lives.jpg
There are valid points in this thread but it is buried under layers of complete freakoutitude.
Between the number of tower locations, dailies and Living World content it is becoming a challenge to manage. Could you please move the Balloon Towers into its own separate group and then create achievements for each tower? This way we have a checklist of towers we need to visit.

Thank you.
To clarify we had both QA and our internal core tests go through the content a whole bunch. The QA team focused on making sure that every profession could complete every boss (there are 12) with a reasonable level of skill and gear. The core testers mostly did what they do best and beat the pants off of the stuff we throw at them and tell us whether or not it was hard enough. I feel its worth mentioning that we would schedule tests for an hour or so and some of them would stay all day trying to beat it. But they were having fun, and that’s whats most important to me.
Are your testers league pro gamers? Because if this same group tested T4 we’re in for a world of hurt. :<
Hope that lol

I don’t like some of the things they are doing, but things like this move GW2 more towards the original GW spirit….
BUT! They should add a way for characters to check better the things they’ve already done. For example:
- Maps:
- Champions: Adding a small gravestone icon for each defeated champion. Nothing for those you have never defeated, so you still have to find them. This will only mark those you have already done. The icon would be as small as the karma vendor icon so it isn’t very intrusive.
- World bosses: Adding an open chest icon for each completed world boss event.
Players can hide these icons like any other.- Dungeons:
Chaning the dungeon icons so they show what you’ve done:
- Closed door or Inactive asura gate: You’ve never done this dungeon.
- Open door o active asura gate: You have completed story mode for this dungeon.
- Closed chest: You’ve completed all paths, but none today.
- Colored open chest: You have completed some paths today.
- Grayed open chest: You have completed all paths for this dungeon today. This icon won’t pop in the map when zoomed out like dungeon icons do now.
- Hover over a dungeon icon, all paths are listed there with an icon next to them.
- Grayed closed chest: You’ve never done this path.
- Colored closed chest: You’ve done this once, but not today.
- Colored open chest: You’ve done this path today.
I recommend posting this in Suggestions. I’ll /sign it
Seriously, this has been answered several times already. They arent random or disconnected even when some of the connections are superficial (such as the Southsun Dragonbash link). Plot wise there are much deeper connection hinted for those who actually want to pay enough attention to find them.
On the topic of festivals, I have to agree that Im starting to feel a bit festivaled out. We dont have that long till Halloween and Wintersday and both of them take up around a month.
The festivals don’t bother me. What bothers me is the sudden difficulty of events like the Trials… esp T4.
Can Flame and Frost dyes be reintroduced? The cost of them in the TP is insane.
I would really like to see these two become account stats. It sucks that I am forced to progress in FOTM on the character with AR and FOTM level. I should be able to bring in any of my level 80s. By making these two account stats it lessens the amount of work I need to do for two classes I like the play. More to point I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing one class over the other.
