  • When removing a boon from a target affected by Stability, also remove the Stability.
  • Hitting a foe with x active boons refreshes your boon removal skills (e.g. by x seconds, or by a percentage, or completely with a reasonable cooldown).

Awesome ideas. I wish ANet would take these suggestions and put in Mesmer traits !

Shortbow in PvP/WvW?

SB influences in PvP is pretty bad. With so many reflects/blocks/immune going on, it’s even harder to make SB work.

As for WvW tagging ? Just do Quick Draw LB/LB Barrage. As for roaming, condition build around SB should do fine.

The flying stick aka staff is really bad as damage output also.

Staff damage competes with Shortbow, it’s how bad SB is. Solar Beam is even more reliable since it’s an aiming beam (not a projectile) with 1200 range.

I would say Staff is better than Shortbow.

Yes, I’m not talking about the % reduction. They gave the same to ranger and warrior Axe, but easier access to Ferocity. Might as well give the ranger double ferocity like the warrior, nah ?

Not only ranger and warrior traits reduce and give 150/300 ferocity without doing anything, they actually give something more. Ranger : Winter’s Bite AoE and Warrior : More adrenaline. Mesmer ? Harder access to Ferocity with nothing more.

I never really understood the need for a nerf of ’’fix’’. Mesmer rarely sit on main hand sword to make it worthwhile. Who are really able to keep 10 stacks of it and make it useful ?

Before the ’’fix’’, it worked as long you had a sword/off sword. Which means pWarden, pDuelist gave you the stacking buff as well.

Also, if you were a scepter wielder (which is pretty rare), you could have sword off hand and stack up the buff with your scepter skills. It gave the mesmer’s scepter a damage buff as well.

It made sword and also sword off hand competitive. What’s the point to take it over Shield now ? In comparison to other classes where they only need to wear a weapon to get the ferocity benefits, Fencer’s Finesse buff uptime is not good enough. Why so stingy ?

Instead to narrow the trait choices, give us more options. It can open new builds.

Warrior : Axe Mastery – Critical axe hits gain extra adrenaline. Gain ferocity for each axe you are wielding. Reduce recharge on axe skills.

Ranger : Honed Axes – Gain ferocity while wielding an axe in your main hand. Winter’s bite is now an AoE skill. Axe skills recharge faster.

Thief : No Quarter – Landing a critical hit while under the effects of fury increases the duration of fury. Gain increased ferocity while under the effects of fury.

Revenant : Assassin’s Presence – Increase the ferocity of nearby allies.

The ranger does like 0 damage in the current meta, their major role is to keep the pet alive and buffed. kill the pets = kill the ranger.

Like you said, the guy is so stacked in bunker stats that killing his pets should nullify him. Better keep smashing your buttons on the ranger instead of the pet tho.

They replace the core specs because they are simply better.

Mostly yes, but some classes can do without, such as necro, engineer, guardian. It is because they don’t lose as much if they don’t take their elite specs. Then, you have druid and daredevil, that if you don’t spec them, you’re gimping yourself. The tools they offer > vanilla class.

In the case of the Chronomancer, it feels just so powerful. F5 is enough to overshadow the Mesmer. Now, not even talking about Alacrity and mobility speed.

June 23rd changes to Phantasm, imo, were in good direction for Phantasm mesmer. The changes to Inspiration line were good. Today, nobody plays Phantasm or rarely.

I remember we had a long debate about Phantasm play style on this mesmer forum. With Chronomancer, they made Shatter obligatory and even more with Chronophantasma. I believe Gee said Phantasm is not something they wanted to support, that it wasn’t what the Mesmer was supposed to do. They have to shatter.

Phantasms just suck now. If you aren’t taking Inspiration line with Phantasms related traits, they then are pretty much insta killed in PvP or WvW, without having a chance to land a hit.

Warlock and Mage can barely target and hit. Mage long cooldown and low damage makes it useless and might as well be treated as a clone.

Then you have all the other mid-range and melee phantasms that die easily : berserker, swordman, disenchanter, avenger, defender, warden, etc.

What’s the point to be vanilla Mesmer ? No point. If something is left to the Mesmer to be worked on, it should be Lockdown and Phantasm play style. Lockdown went out of the window with so many professions that fart stability these days.

I can see it beneficial for WvW and instances (raid, fracs, dungeons), but not needed in PvE. Otherwise, good change anyway.

I sometimes go in open pve quick draw with warhorn and axe trait, just for lulz. Easy might stacks and such, but still lacking and weird. It’s a mid range weapon, it’s supposed to do higher damage, no ? Same for SB ?

Beside LB and GS, I don’t think Ranger have weapon with good mechanics.

I personally wonder if lb would be a better condi weapon solely because rapid fire and barage would allow you to apply bleed via crits faster, and more frequently if you took quick draw over LoYF

I wondered the same and it’s easier and safer to put condition from LB than SB. Only difference in condition is SB AA from sides get bleed. If you think about it… Barrage is the only way for us to put AoE condition from range. Add Sharpening Stone to it with Sharpened Edge, LB suddenly became a more interesting and reliable condition weapon than SB.

Also, RF put Vulnerability, which is good for either power or condi players. SB ? None. I don’t feel SB as a pure condi weapon, but more of a bad jack of all trade. Actually, I like power SB more than condi SB.

It seems I forgot to mention I play solo 90% of the time. Is it possible to get permanent fury while solo? And what’s the pro’s and con’s between Sigil of Air/Sigil of Strength? Is it because bleeding doesn’t scale well so Sigil of Strength isn’t worth it?
And what is the GoE for? For team dps boost or does it boost condition damage as well?

If you solo, I don’t find condition useful in open PvE. Bleeding is not a very damaging condition and the ramp time takes too long on SB in comparison to other classes weapon.

Is it possible to get perma fury ? Yes. How : Call of the Wild, Furious Grip, Wilderness Knowledge, Red Moa.

If you were to power SB, Air+Fire would be good to add more punch to SB AA. Since you’re an hybrid condi SB, why not Sigil of Blight, Torment or Earth instead of Air ? Air + Strenght is fine for hybrid.

IMO, if you want to go Viper or hybrid ranger, playing traps with A/T is better.

You should not engage a chronobunker in a 1v1 on a point he own period.
You should not engage a chronobunker that sits on a point period.
It can handle 1v1, 1v2 and even 1v3 if the skills are rolled out properly, it is vulnerable to condis (given that he didn’t swapped one of the wells for NField), it is vulnerable to boon strip and corruption…

Are you trying so hard at defending Chronobunker ? Well of Precognition needs a nerf ASAP. I don’t think it need other nerf, only this skill. The block is fine, Blurry Frenzy is fine, Distortion is fine, but the CS + Well is not. Chronobunker is miles better than last Turret bunker engineer, because it has the mobility and disengagement.

Now that Chronobunker is super meta with DS tempest, Auramancer, Cele Druid, DD 2.0 Scrapper and Rev, mix it all together in a team. What you gonna do when you have a game with 1-2 Chronobunker, helped with other bunker/support ? Yeah, you play your game till 0 secs.

Super fun.

You can pull all the numbers you want and say they have weaknesses, opening, etc. You don’t seem to look at the big picture.

Something probably like Remorseless (Marksmanship), Two-Handed Training (Beastmastery) and it leaves you the other trait line open.

WS for more tankyness or fury, NM for more support, Druid for movement speed or glyphs…

I find Electric Wyvern pretty good for a support pet for the amount of CC it does.

I haven’t really played with the electric wyvern yet, but I hear a bunch of ppl swear by it. Please enlighten me about this pet!

Damage bad and slow, but you take Electric Wyvern for :

- Lightning Assault (Knockback and Lighting Field : Aura or Dazing Strike). You can use it while stomping to secure it, the target will land right on you. The skill is easier to target and land too.

- Wing Buffet (Channeling knockback but harder to land)

Great video, as always you dont go mainstream, segregating yourself with some signiture picks like the wyvern , natural stride and primal echos.

feedback is appreciated mate, well i dont enjoy the mainstream which ppl play vs “themselves” just in different skill lvl, i enjoy playing fun things doesnt matter if they are weird or stupid.

I find Electric Wyvern pretty good for a support pet for the amount of CC it does. It’s easier to target with Lightning Assault. I mostly use it as the first pet to use and burst with Smokescale or Bristleback. It also works well with Beastly Warden.

Moment of Clarity, Remorseless and Ancient Seed traits work so well together. Not even counting Fury from RaO or Wilderness Knowledge (Remorseless), then interrupt to triggers MoC with Glyph of Equality, Primal Echoes and Hilt Bash.

My PvP build is more of less the same and I liked your video

Why would anyone want an unblockable on a pet anyways, you cant control when it happens so its completely unreliable.

Apparently it’s enough to ask to make it blockable and nerf it. The only pet with a random unblockable skill. Also, the only unblockable skill for ranger beside traps, sic em and entangle.

Why would anyone want it ? Because it’s better than not having it.

OP, are you gonna cry about Malicious Reprisal (When one of your attacks is blocked, your next attacks will be unblockable.) too when you won’t know which skill gonna be unblockable ?

As for Vine Surge, it’s so bad in comparison to Coalescence of Ruin. The latter one is faster, bigger aoe, more reliable and do huge damage (might as well be an AA).

Not that Vine Surge should be like CoR, but it should give a punch with such a long cooldown. I only use it when I get chased and aim it behind, that’s it.

Exact same premade team, at this point if you solo, your doing it wrong.

My 3rd match seemed to be balanced but then I got a d/c and came back to see I’d been labelled with ‘desertion’ and a 20min dishonor :/

Same wit Tragic Positive, Staff 3 might not put you in combat anymore, but roots you more often than before. You’ll need a mobility skill to unbug. It roots you mostly when the paths are uneven. If you can’t fix it Anet, just put combat mode instead of root.

The Solar Beam change is a nerf to CA regen. You could target allies or your pet to regen some CA on the fly (which was very small regen).

Then add it to non existent fixes and changes (positives) for the Druid.

With the arrival of HoT, the new elite specs have many ways to counter projectiles (reflects, blocks). Some of the new specs also have easy access to stability.

What if you want to Point Blank Shot ? You’ll need to take in consideration if the person has a reflecting or a blocking skill. You also need to look if the person is not immune. Then, you need to look if it has aegis or stability.

With no way to remove those skills or boons, what are we left with ?

All rangers weapons are projectiles except GS, Sword, Staff and some skills from off hands. Sometimes getting in melee is not the best idea.

Any tips you guys have ? I was main mesmer for a long time and went to Ranger for the past few months. As a Mesmer, GS could go through those stuffs easily and the profession have easy access to boon removal, so I didn’t really had a problem with it.

Traited SoM is an amazing survival skill.

Yep, traited SoM is easily one of my favorite, saved me many times.. Since it’s a Stunbreak + Invulnerability, use it as ’’Stability’’.

I was talking about it with my guildmates how they were so fast to push the nerf to WHaO, Lingering Light and to Smokescale, but let other professions (looking at DH) unerfed skills in the wild.

Lingering Light did spam blind, but that was it. It was annoying and wasn’t killing anybody with the OPness.

Talking about apples and oranges about condi traps Ranger and and power traps DH. None of the Ranger traps are instant and give boons (except Healing Spring).

Are you using the Enlargement trait in Marksmanship? I heard a week ago that it kicks you out of CAF when it triggers, but don’t know if that’s still the case.

no wrong again , its all about Correct Application of Dps and Support healing without the support the Dps would not be able to do the role effectively or even stay alive long enough to deal dps, end up dying by the time phase two turns up .

without a form of Health support , be it Guardain , mesmer boon support/which does its damage from long duration dps condis with sinister / healer gear.

or even a Druid with Vipers/healer gear ect .

yes its still about dps but its correct applications of damage/control/support and now the Damage portion of that Can not Be out of control , it must be managed.

I didn’t say otherwise, notice I said healer and not support.

Again, this kind of support (water fields) can be given by eles and engineers. They also give something the ranger/druid doesn’t, boons. While the ele can buff, def, might stack and can go in Water Attunement anytime (cooldown), the Druid have to spam 1 to generate its CA and also has a cooldown.

Last night I just respec’d back to good old fashioned Ranger. Even in the last PvE map of Dragon Stand I found no real benefit for the druid.

I use Druid most of time, but change some stuff till towers. Before Towers of DS, I use double LB Quick Draw with Skirmishing and keep spamming Barrage for tagging and XP. I also use Glyph of Empowerment and Frost Spirit.

When I get to Towers, I use double Staff : Glyph of Equality + Glyph of the Tides + Primal Echoes (Staff trait) + Ancient Seeds + BM 1-1-1 to break bar, Ancestral Grace for mobility. Then CA Lunar Impact + Natural Convergence.

Druid is a bar breaker machine.

Vine Surge

It’s really a bad skill ! They did zero change to staff animation. What I had like issues have been said.

I would like to shift your attention to Coalescence of Ruin (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Coalescence_of_Ruin) about how it works. I get it, some of you think druid should do 0 damage and be a heal bot, apples and oranges yadadada, but look at it : 2 sec recharge, bigger aoe, better damage, BETTER and FASTER animation.

Yet, Vine Surge is on a 20 seconde recharge untraited (LOL), slow, small, low damage and a short CC.

With all the nerfs to Druid and no buff, I can’t see but this is a glaring issue.

Also (it’s not what the thread is about), Astral Wisp is bad too : it’s slow and follows the ground. It’s classified as a projectile, but doesn’t work like one. You can’t throw it from up to ground or ground to up, neither Vine Surge. So what you do when you’re in a fight with height issue ? Yes, you’re right, you just spam 1.

Unaceptable pet location behind a 2h event

Not even 2 hours, it can go over 3 hours. They need to make the meta event way shorter and easier, because it will become a Triple Worm if they keep like that : Nobody will do it but organized guilds. I got the Electric Wyvern, but didn’t have time to find the Juvenile Tiger. Just gliding after the fight eats you so much time.

And yes, no other class have to do it. That’s my biggest issue.

I’ve been having fun bursting poison on people in PvP in the past few days, I didn’t try in open PvE yet, but it should be fun.

I’m not pro in PvP, but I like to have fun in unranked . You can stack 15 poison easily over other conditions and CC with Ancient Seeds. So here is the build :

Things that can be changed :

- Pets for : Murellow, Marsh Drakes, Spider, Devourer. (I like Wolf for Fear and Smokescale for burst).

- Sigil : On Staff can be changed to get more poison with Sigil of Doom, but I like the chill and extra endurance to get you away from sticky situations.

- Rune : Rune of Thorns is not in the template yet, but I’m using it (I have put Rune of Orr for the sake of it, you can use it too). Rune of Traveler can be an alternative (See below)

- Trait : Verdant Etching can be changed for Natural Stride. It all depends of your runes and how comfortable you are to move without moving speed and use Ancestral Grace to move.

- Amulets : Carrion or Rabid, I guess it depends of your taste. Power and Precision is not a huge decision maker, it should be between Vitality or Toughness. Settler could be good, since if you’re Druid, people ’’expect’’ you to help more with healing and support.

- Stunbreakers and why ‘’Protect Me!’’ ? : It’s shorter than Signet of Stone and gives you a Stun Break. I’m aware you’re scarifying a pet, but I like it better than Signet of Stone and it works on conditions that were ON before, which SoS doesn’t. You can always put Glyph of Equality (Way shorter cooldown), it doesn’t help you to soak the damage, but will daze/blind and gives you a seed (if traited) to work with it.

Wow, thank you for telling me that, I didn’t realize the link between them.

I wish Seed of Life was casting when you start the glyphs or just faster in general, but with Glyph of Empowerment you can get 13% easily and more if you stack other glyphs + Seed of Life on you or you went in CA.

I’ve been using Longbow with it and you can pull more condition removal with the arrows.

Glyph + Seed of Life + Grace of the Land + Frost Spirit can give you huge damage boost. Not bad.

I’ve been checking the Wiki every so often, and it now states that you can find the Juvenile electric wyvern in Verdant Brink, Canopy over the Pact Encampment – on a large rock south. I am anxiously awaiting nightfall to see if this is actually true, I will report back. Here’s the link to the Wiki page.

i saw the same thing from the wiki and checked it out myself. thing is “large south rock” is a bit vague and while i looked on the rock the fire wyverns are known to be, the electrics werent there. poked around a few other rocks in the general south area but havent had luck finding the electric despite having spent quite some time doing so

This is where the Fire Wyvern is, not the Electric. I might be wrong, I didn’t look again.

I had to restart many time, but I did it finally.

Only the gliding part is buggy, it needs to be changed. Or reset at where you were, not resetting all the fight -.-

I agree with this. Druid is suppose to be a healer spec regardless of how many people cry about it. Irenio had it right the first time in the beta. Healing gives us AF and we can enter in and out of CAF often to do our main role.

Irenio has faltered, however. Adding mechanics such as a 10 second cooldown to force Druids into a more damage dealing role regardless of how bad they may be at it and the AF generation rates, though it’s nice to see damage do something, they also made healing so much less rewarding.

It was announced as a supporting class yet, not a full blown healing bot. That is the problem right here, GW2 wasn’t made to have a healer. You guys think Druid as a full new class when it is not. It still have to choose 2 other specializations.

Sure, tell those rangers to play ranger if they want to DPS when other professions have new tools to play with. No other professions have been pigeon holed, but the Druid.

As for the changes for ’’damage’’, they didn’t change anything to buff damage. Everything is the same since they showed Druid. The CA cooldown was to remove the CA spam with healing and also Celestial Shadow. So seriously lol, it was not for damage.

Usefulness :

Open PvE ? How you’re gonna tag ? How useful are you with your healing ? No.
Dungeon speed run ? No.
WvW ? Can see a niche, but CA generation is bad. Maybe.
Raid ? Maybe.
PvP ? Maybe in a structured team or bunker. CC condi druid is a monster in PvP.

Me too, I agree with everything.

1) Lackluster, but fine.

2) Slow casting, slow projectile, bad damage. Did you try to cast it from bottom to top or top to bottom ? IT DOESN’T WORK. It follows the ground like Phantasmal Warlock. Our only projectile and it doesn’t fly or arc like a projectile !

3) Good and yes it puts you in combat (lol)

4) Slow casting, small AoE (Why can’t they do it like Revenant Hammer 2?)

5) Situational at best and the projectiles NEVER hit you. Then do an arcing spell and it goes in every direction.

Having damage on CA 1 could give some usefulness at it.
