I don’t ever recall a time a meta wasn’t complained about.
I wonder if all the people complaining here have posted gameplay vids.
Why would we? So we could have some self proclaimed"pro" that we need to " get good" and “carry more” please. Take the arrogance somewhere else.
There’s been at least two occasions that i’ve seen in which players, much like you, claimed they were being paired with terrible teammates and that matchmaking was screwing them over only to see the video and notice that the OP is actually bad too (in one case, the OP was actually the one being carried). Yet the OP was convinced everyone else was kitten and he wasn’t.
Maybe a lot of people complaining about their matches have a serious case of over inflated sense of competence?
THIS is EXACTLY the problem. I am first tear Sapphire and my team has THREE Emerald versus FOUR Sapphire. Almost NO chance of winning. How does this make ANY sense?
Jesus christ dude
Matchmaking is largely pip based, you got sapphires because they were close to emerald pip wise.
How many times must this be explained to you people?
I wonder if all the people complaining here have posted gameplay vids.
At some point you have to pick your poison. I choose to dodge leap and Tides, I have to eat some shatters.
If they stow moa on you, they certainly won’t continuum stow if as that would waste it. But at some point continual stowing the skill it will eventually hit you as stow cd is 3secs and dodge cd is like 10 seconds. But I think about this. If they are stowing it and you don’t see the evade, you got a few more seconds of dps.
Mesmer is mind games, I know. You just have to try and out mind game.
I know it is possible on necromancer at least.
Had a match where it seemed like the mesmer saved moa soley for me when i entered reaper shroud.
If you’re a reaper and there’s a mes on the enemy team, beware.
This thread, aside from the league reward track thread is one of my favorite threads here. Nice to see constructive and useful threads here for a change.
I love the OP’s suggestion.
It provies for players who wish rewards to continuing to fight in legendary and provides continues rewards for those who reach the division that matches their skill level so they don’t feel like there’’s no more point to playing anymore.
Hope anet implements for S3!
This thread and this league season embody the contradiction between setting up a competitive ranking system vs. being a private company that needs to please its customers.
On the one hand, a competitive system seeks to show who is the best and thus requires that many have their egos shattered, but a private business model requires an organization to placate customers to keep them satisfied and this requires feeding your customer’s ego for revenue.
It’s interesting to watch really.
Very true, especially when this competitive system groups all good players together and match them against bad players. A sight to be seen indeed.
Of course. Professional sports teams only choose the best in order to compete with other teams composed of the best players.
A model that mixes and matches players of varied skills levels, sets them against teams of similar aggregate skill level and artificially seeks to create a 50% win rate is not meant to be competitive, but to create a false sense of competency on the part of the customer and make them feel satisfied.
In theory, a 50% win rate should be reached eventually as every player reaches the division that matches their skill level, the question is, if anet wants to keep leagues competitive, whether players are reaching divisions that reflect their skill level fast enough. IE: where they don’t lost every match they play for weeks straight. Or, how long should a average or low skill player be expected to suffer through losing streaks until he finally reaches the division he is meant to be in according to skill level where his win rate approaches 50%?
Of course, if anet were to find the answer to that question, it still wouldn’t stop players who reach the division that matches their skill level from complaining that they don’t feel their skill level deserves such a division. You would still get ruby players saying they shouldn’t stay in ruby.
yes, but that’s irrelevant. if they dc for two minutes, it should not cost me my pip or win streak
Currently, if the player is present when the match ends, you lose pips, but do not lose pips if the dc’d player never comes back.

Was the player present when the match ended?
You have two options. You either rotate away to a point where the ele isn’t present or you cc and focus the ele to get him out of the way.
I don’t really see the issue.
My build on revenant doesnt handle conditions well so if I get a match where my teammates dont have party cleanses or the other team has too many condition builds, I am at a serious disadvantage and can only get through it using sheer force.
Why don’t you change to a class that can better handle that match up when it presents itself?
I like how i’m seeing the suggestions that people should lose divisions too. As if that wouldn’t add to the fury.
When facing necro heavy comps, simply split them between points to reduce their effectiveness. Sending 2 or 3 to far usually does the trick when facing more than 2 necros.
They need to provide alternate paths for earning these materials, for players who want the final result just as much as any PvPer, but do not enjoy PvP gameplay nearly as much.
Get out.
I have to admit. After those massive nerfs, i am surprised how the class still remains so viable.
With that said, no, no nerfs. We should wait.
In my experience, the team with the most necros tends to lose. They are just too easy to burst down.
I did have a nice experience landing in a team with 3 necro and 1 rev. Noticed we were damage heavy so i changed to tempest and that seemed to have changed the composition to our favor. I would just heal the necros and they would do work.
Cause people hate dying to condis more than anything in this game. Perhaps sans DH traps that is.
So you see, i really don’t trust this complaining that people keep getting matched with bad players, because there’s a good chance they are pretty bad themselves if not worse.
Well, if the system is working right, as you say, and you are teamed with people like that, then obviously you are as bad as they are, or worse. Right?
Perhaps then that warrior was right and, no matter how unskilled/inexperienced, he was still the best player in your team. Right?
Or perhaps, maybe, there is something wrong with the matchmaking system…
Sure. I was bad enough to be placed on the same team as that warrior. I don’t have a problem with being consequential.
Now, whether he was the best player on the team, that’s another matter entirely. Somehow, i doubt that, but who knows, maybe you like rushing lord solo at 250 too? Might explain a lot around here, honestly.
Not really having an issue with necro condis. I mean, unless i got blasted by 3 of them at the same time, but nobody is supposed to be surviving a 3v1. I’m speaking from the perspective of a palladin DH running smite condition, smite condition trait, traited wings or resolve and renewed focus.
Kuya, You disbelieve every complaint of being matched with unskilled players, while you are describing a match you were in of being matched with unskilled players. This is non-sensical. Oh wait.. no..nvm.. I had something kinda funny and bit mean to add but I think I’m on probation because.. you know the story.
I could believe my skill level being close to his, for whatever reason. Just that the only ones who seem to always blame their teammates are often just as bad if not worse.
So every time someone talks about their lose streaks, i wonder if they even think about what they could have done better.
The reason i don’t trust any of this complaining is because of my experience when i lose. For example, yesterday i lost in a team with a warrior that complained he got grouped with bad players again (IE: the rest of us), this same warrior was rushing far and was complaining he was holding 3 people there and we couldn’t cap other points… for the 5 seconds that he lasted. He then decided to rush lord at 250 points. When i pointed out how ironic it is that he’s claiming he’s being matched with scrubs but he himself doesn’t seem to be very good, he claimed he had the highest score in the team(hence he’s the leetest) and challenged me to a duel for 50gold to demonstrate how good he is.
Today, i had a match with a necro that was also saying the rest of his team was kitten and couldn’t focus a target. This same necro was a minion mancer who kept going far by himself and promptly killed within 5 seconds.
So you see, i really don’t trust this complaining that people keep getting matched with bad players, because there’s a good chance they are pretty bad themselves if not worse.
A lot of people complaining about S2 are saying they are being matched together with terrible teammates and that this is the cause of their lose streaks. The funny thing is, the rest of their team is probably also blaming them for being terrible.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see an entire team that just got stomped in a match, come to this forum to complain about anet matching them with bad players. Every single one of them believing the other 4 are bad, but that they themselves weren’t the cause of the defeat.
Your family, friends and colleagues are definitely irked that you make sweeping, unfounded accusations against people just for the hell of it. They tend to groan when you walk in the room and you think you hear someone mutter the work f___ but can’t be sure. You also have too much potassium in your diet and a slight body odor you think you can mask with deodorant and no one has mentioned anything.. well yet. Fingers crossed!!
You are probably the funniest poster in this forum. You need to post more often.

This post is a shinning example of what’s wrong. People are not complaining about losing, not really. What they are complaining about is how they are losing. That some of the teams they face they have no chance of beating. Same when most win matches. It’s such a one sided victory it’s not funny. What most are asking for are fun challenging matches, not roflstomps.
Then you don’t want a league.
Then you have no idea how a league is supposed to work.
Well, i guess we could call the kind of league you want league-lite, or league for pve players. Everyone’s a winner in your league!
I just watched the first one. There are a few rotation mistakes here:
1) You rushed in at the beginning when you only have 1 teammate behind you. That’s usually the most common beginner mistake in rotation. Always count your number before jumping into a fight. In a 2v4 you will die 100% of time unless you are an ESL player (in which case I still doubt they can win 2v4 against the average players). It’s even worse that your other teammate is a Thief, who won’t be able to peel/heal you.
2) You tried to rez multiple times when you didn’t have skills to secure the rez (for example, knock the enemy out). If you don’t have those skills to secure the rez, then don’t rez it.
3) You don’t seem to be able to take advantage of the chain daze and block from Scrapper. Learn the leap daze combo and leap heal combo. Block from Scrapper is really OP.
4) At 8:10, you got stuck in the terrain. Learn the map so it doesn’t happen in the future.
5) You also stay in the red circles a lot of times. Positioning is very important. Just think that if you manage to stay outside of a red circle, you heal yourself 2k (random number).Wow way to go, didn’t you see how his teammates played, he mightve done all you said but that doesn’t change the fact that Matchmaking is hideous.
I think this post encapsulates perfectly the essence of this whole kerfuffle on the forums:
“Everything is matchmaking’s fault” vs. “I want to get better at pvp”
Kudos to the OP for asking the right question, and kudos for sunshine for actually answering the question.

Hambow DH with palladin’s amulet has thus far been fantastic in ranked. Sometimes, depending on enemy skill, you can even hold down two targets at once. Ring of warding, Hunter’s ward is excellent for locking down a target for team burst. I concur with what was said that palladin’s amulet gives you those extra seconds you need to have your heals off cooldown, allowing you to stay in the fight longer.
I use condi cleanse sigils and hunter’s fort when i see more than one necro, so condis have not been an issue for me. In fact, you’ll probably be the only one in your team that can survive condi bursts. Only threat i’ve seen thus far is a good druid, because that can probably beat you in a 1vs1.
Looks like someone doesn’t have high mmr.
OP, please go ahead and make a thread complaining about how you are on a lose streak and that it’s very unfair for anet to do this to such an expert pvper such as yourself.
Skilless Elites with copy paste builds. Any beginner can just purchase the game push buttons and win with no clue as to what they are doing. Congratulations AN you finally caved.
If any beginner can do it, why are they getting steamrolled in amber right now?
People want to FEEL like they are progressing at a pace which is FAIR given their own PERSONAL performance.
But what if your performance is kitten?
I honestly like the system better this way. Going from every fight being a close match in season 1 to the first few divisions being a blowout is a nice change. Now there is a sense of progression in leagues as every division seems to get harder, rather than being hard right off the bat in amber. I didn’t really complain about the way it was set up in season 1, but i def like season 2 better.
I wonder if i should go compile a list of all the threads asking not to be matched with people from your same mmr from the get go from last season into one thread so the playerbase here can see how stupid it is with its own eyes.
(edited by Kuya.6495)
I mostly get win streaks, so it’s been a breeze getting out of amber.
I’m already half way through emerald though. Just took two days.
It means just that. a 5 man premade will not be matched against 5 solo players. But you can still get a 5 man premade vs 2, 3, 1 solo players.
i could be wrong but i remember during last league this was asked to be done. threads are still here i just don’t feel like going through pages and pages of QQ’s. i wasn’t sure why people wanted it to be this way because then everyone starts at the bottom.
basically no matter what is done people will see something wrong with it.
Maybe people were asking for it because they were under the vague impression they were good at pvp and thought they would breeze through amber like a pro?
they ARE being used for matchmaking
you’re getting matched with teammates of similar mmr, you’re simply not getting matched against opponents of similar mmr now.
bs i had 4 ppl in my team who didnt even know how to capture points (total newbies) while the other team rolled over us like we were nothing. So pls dont tell me this nonsense. Matchmaking is broken even more than before end of story. You can say what you want but ppl here are having 20+ loses and thats not a bad luck thats something else.
Has it ever occurred to you that you deserve the teammates you are getting?
And I have been playing LoL for 5 years where clowns devs were making up some new dumb buzz words almost every day so I know my kitten.
What? They switched it because players were using pip, and players were using pip because pip isn’t some made up word, it is used for the symbols that indicate rank in the military, police, etc, so seemed appropriate to use for the symbols used to indicate rank in PvP leagues.
Maybe if you spent less time playing LoL and more time studying / reading then you would have a vocabulary larger than that of a lemon.
I love you
This is what i find most funny. People were screeching for an mmr reset last season and now they hate it. Just goes to show the customer rarely knows what he wants.
Didn’t they say that during leagues, matchmaking in ranked would be based more on division/pip range rather than MMR?
Yes. MMR has taken a backseat for now to the new system. It has much less weight.
In that case, did the OP not get the memo?
Didn’t they say that during leagues, matchmaking in ranked would be based more on division/pip range rather than MMR?
Are you sure? Full trap wouldn’t be viable anymore, so they would be run less, which would result in less people being spiked to zero, which would result in less complaints and more balance
Full trap isn’t viable right now. The only thing full trap builds have been good for on DH is killing players with little to no situational awareness.
January 26, 2016 Balanced patch, did change a lot about the bunker quickness META.
The changes over the bruisers amulet to amulet with more dps, less sustain is great.
Now, we have a clear DPS, Bruisers and Bunker/Support trinity based on amulet.
QQ all you want, I would had love more fine tuning, but it’s way better now than it was in December 2015.
Anet will give us new specialization down the road, before the next expac… this will help to balanced more than 1 viable build per class we all want to have.
Let’s see how Season 2 turns out. And hope they can buff unused things into spvp, so we can get more viable build for our game mode.

This post encapsulates my thinking.
I don’t know what people in this forum were expecting, but i guess it goes back again to the same problem: perceptions and customer service.
Read what i said. I didn’t say it wouldn’t make a change in gameplay. I said it wouldn’t make a change in complaints about DH traps on this forum.
So one thing i noticed in GW2 with traits is that there’s really no negative or downside to traits. In most cases, traits all give buffs to your characters but rarely ever any downsides. I suspect this is also what feeds into the problem of power creep. So as a suggestion, why not make it so the strongest and most problematic traits have negative stats to them? For example:
1. Scrapper has a lot of sustain thanks to water fields and stacking toughness. Can’t do much about the water fields since they’re not caused by traits. So why not make it so adaptive armor also reduces your attack or power by a certain percentage, say 10% outgoing damage reduction? I feel that the current meta scrapper spec should stay tanky, but maybe do less damage. If you give this trait a negative, you wont have to touch hammer, and the scrapper will have to choose between being tanky and pulling off alot of damage.
2. People often complain about DH traps doing too much damage and the daze they cause. So why not have piercing light, aside from reducing cooldown and giving daze, also reduce trap damage by 10% or 20%? That way the DH has to choose between doing a lot of damage with traps or having cc with traps.
3. People are currently complaining a lot about reaper chill, so why not make the trait deathly chill also make the reaper take 10% more damage or something?
4. etc.
It doesn’t have to be what i suggested, but the general idea is that specific traits should also give negative stats to balance them out. In this way, you don’t have classes that have equal amounts damage and equal amounts sustain or equal amounts crowd control. It might not be a popular suggestion since this is essentially a nerf, but i think tying the nerf to a specific trait gives players the option of choosing whether they want to take the trait with the nerf or not.
What exactly did people want “balanced” aside from warrior?
